One Piece; The Cute, the Badly designed and the ugly!

So initial thoughts were to make a OP character cuteness topic but it's not enough!

We need to take it further! We have the adorable flashback children of One Piece, who do YOU think is the cutest? (not just tthe polls cuties!)

We won't leave it at that! What about the character designs you think are BLAND or just downright BAD! Or ones you might LOVE.

It wont stop there, most Arcs have their less attractive characters. Such as;
The Beautiful Lola! Or.. Cocoro!
Cocoro takes the cake for me, but let me know who you find shiver worthy!

The AP character tournament is over! The Cute tournament begins! Ahh come on, Baby 5s little ribbon or baby dellinger eating his Ice Cream and getting his mouth wiped?!

While I like loli Baby 5, she's no different from all other lolis we've seen in chapter 0. They are all standard cute, but Dellinger is just too much to handle.

I can deal with kawaii. Chopper always plays successfully to it, as do many of the small children who snot everywhere and beg to be saved.

Also, I was recently trying to make some graphics in my free time of OP charactes with the same hair color. Something simple, but good PS training. Nine characters per color.
Let's just say that so far, Purple is a very unfortunate hair color. If you have it in OP, you're guaranteed to either be ugly or evil, or both.

I don't think its just you. But we may have different reasons why not to like the sisters' designs.
I liked the body design on them, even the longer than norm nose since it reminded me of Banchina's (Usopp's mom) nose.
It's their square hairstyle that I didn't like.
I didn't like it from the start, but it got worse when I read they had to walk sideways when there was a strong wind. I was like WTF… they are suppose to be in a crew of bounty hunters/demolition (of ships) and they have that sort of handicap? A handicap by hairstyle of choice? yeah not buying it, its not cute or quirky at all.

I always hated Wanze design. The ramen gag was just eww. His design is also ugly.(but not badly designed)
Personally, I find that Scarlet and Rebecca have the laziest character design ever. Their design reek of blandness. They fit my definition of badly designed character.

Yes, and I would say this goes for a lot of Oda's female characters. Many of them just look more or less like Nami but with different hair. And it's a dang shame too, considering the range of different female designs he showed at Amazon Lily.

I think Oda was making fun of the really bad cosplayers out there.

Sure some are good, very good and it shows how much effort they put into the costumes.
But they are few (usually best found at those conventions) and far in between …. esp. at sites like DeviantART :getlost:

That's one reason I like Kaya, she's not a Nami clone, even after the timeskip an Oda's drawing differing from the original image she's still different. Her face seems rounder than Nami's and she doesn't have the big rack like NAmi/Vivi/Rebecca….

There's one reason I make a difference between Vivi and her disguise as Ms Wednesday. As Vivi she's a Nami-clone but the eyes and face of Ms. Wednesday were quite different.

And it's a dang shame too, considering the range of different female designs he showed at Amazon Lily.

That design.. I don't see much difference in it from Sweet Pea or Boa Marigold = women known for their strength drawn taller than average (though Sweet Peas is smaller than others, she's still taller than other women) and oversized.

Fair point, but I actually like the designs of both Sweet Pea and Boa Marigold, so I think I'll chalk it up to the costume design in this case. I suppose I also might be a bit biased here since I severely disliked the whole Kyuin/Franky/Senor Pink ordeal in that chapter…

And I would agree with you on Kaya. It might have to do with her not being particularly sexualized in any way that she actually got to keep her original bust size.
