@Miss:
Huh. I've never really gotten a vibe that the Donquixote Crew is admirable or different in any way, actually. They're slightly more fleshed out, sure, and we've definitely gotten to see more of their backgrounds, but I wouldn't say it counts as anything groundbreaking here. At least to me. They're all very original (with great designs), but they still come off as cartoonishly evil - especially the top executives. And Doflamingo isn't really the first antagonist to show care for his people. Magellan was upset when Hannyabal sacrificed himself and got whooped in his stead. And I seem to recall the Foxy crew having some care for one another, especially their captain. Not to mention Arlong, who had a deep respect and love for all his crewmates because of what they'd been through.
But being more specific, I was referring to the way Oda handles women. In both character-wise and a design level. I mean.. come on now; when was the last time Nami and Robin were even remotely useful to the story? It's almost laughable how obsolete some of the Strawhats have become. Dare we even talk about the Tashigi stuff in PH? Rebecca in this very arc? ..
I agree with that statement so much, Nami and Robin have had little to no relevance in this arc. Their characters aren't getting any play to the story. Time-skip made that even more clear.
