Thought I was hearing things wrong:ninja:.
The last few seasons have been fairly solid actually.

The last few seasons have been fairly solid actually.
There have been a couple funny episodes in the more recent seasons but it's been time to go a long time ago.
The ending of Bart the Daredevil still is very funny. The ending of the episode just makes me laugh anytime I see it.
Anyone see the Simpsons/Family Guy cross over?
All i'm gonna say is Homer Simpson/Peter Griffin car wash scene disturbing & had me lol'ing so hard.
I did and I like It
the problem is you have to know both show to understand most of the jokes

Missed it and didn't record on DVR and can't watch it on Demand:getlost:.
Watching the crossover had me realize what both shows had in common that really irk me:
A joke that points out the gag doesn't automatically make it funny. It might have been clever and funny in the 80s or 90s, but now it's just old.
Though one thing commendable about this thing was the writers TRYING to be clever with the simpsons/family guy comparison. I can't remember the last time when either franchise had writers that attempted a clever gag here and there. But still, it was "meh" writing for a "meh" demographic so I shouldn't expect much (and I really didn't).
However, I wonder how much compromise either shows' writers had to make when determining how to depict their characters. Since it is premiered on Family Guy, I presume the FG staff had more of a say on how to write Homer who seemed remarkably…weird in this episode (everyone else didn't have enough screen time). He's definitely written more like a FG character rather than a Simpsons one which is understandable.
I thought the crossover was great.
! The cameos from Roger, Kang, and Kudos during the fight was really funny.
Not to mention
! Bob from Bob's burgers cameo, James Woods as himself…twice, and Cleveland going up in flames

I only saw two clips of the episode and pretty much avoided watching the whole thing, but yeah.. This is what I saw from those clips. That gas station scene, the random cutaway gags… nope. I just don't care much for FG to witness a crossover.
got to admit..the couch gag for the season premiere was weird..just weird
I thought the crossover was awful outside of a few jokes. It's especially bad if you compare it to the Critic and X-Files crossovers.
And I didn't think too highly of the Simpsons premiere either. Such an awful way for such a non-important character to go.
To be fair, the crossover was written as a FAMILY GUY episode (just realized that pretty much a prominent Family Guy episode writer was behind this with…I suppose no one from the Simpsons side was credited) which is why a lot of the jokes were FG-ish with just a Simpsons splash of paint over it. But yeah..the Critic/X-Files crossover were much much better in comparison and only needed 24 minutes to pull it off without repeating the same gag over and over while maintaining a good Simpsons style plot.
What's weird about this is that it LOOKS like a Simpsons episode (due to it predominantly being in Springfield) but the jokes are FG-ish which makes it really disjointed. I feel the writer(s) should have had the Simpsons come to Quahog instead for the jokes in this episode to not be nearly as jarring (cutaway gags, car fight, gas station scene, and so on did not feel like the Simpsons...AT ALL).
Yeah I knew that. It's weird, you have the entire cast and history of the Simpsons, and you use them to make your typical Family Guy jokes.
Treehouse of Horror 25 was pretty great.
! I thought the ending with all of the different type of animation of the Simpsons was pretty cool. The anime, Archer, and Adventure Time verisons looked pretty awesome.

! That, plus, you know, HOMER SIMPSON DRESSED AS FREAKING ZORO!
Zomer Simpson
Zomer Simpson
I swear, if Zoro doesn't look like that when he's middle aged, I'm going to be seriously bummed out.

Whoa, neat!
Everyone looks like an actual reference to something
Homer - Zoro
Bart - Naruto
Maggie - Pikachu
Lisa - Attack on Titan
But… what is Marge? Bleach?
EDIT: Looking closely at it, looks like she's supposed to be Rangiku.
What's Santa a reference too?

Looks like he's supposed to be some generic dragon, probably from some Ghibli film like Spirited Away, or something.

Holy cow, you're right. The hairstyle, the little pink scarf…
darn it now I have to see if I can catch this episode On Demand.
I have to say this season have been pretty good so far. I still found it funny that Homer is Zoro and Lisa is Mikasa.
Actually, this season hasn't been THAT bad so far which is surprising (though, the premier and the hyping up of a particular character's death was pretty…lame). The Halloween Episode wasn't anything really special, but it did have SOME funny moments (and Dr. Marvin Monroe jokes never get old for me). It's great to see the Halloween episodes progressing forward ever since...ugh ToH22 which is the lowest point of the Simpsons, 23 which only had one memorable segment (the bill and ted thing), and 24 which was forgettable aside from Homer ending up as a circus duck.
25 had a lot going for it as the first segment was kinda.."gory" I guess with some shock value, second had a Clockwork Orange so...yeah easy to remember that, and the last segment for obvious reasons. So overall, decent but nothing remarkably special yet :(
I don't care how minor it is, I'm saying this makes One Piece mainstream now LOL.
Hasn't OP generally been mainstream in the west? Albiet not as popular as Bleach/Naruto but they're usually paired together I suspected (much like how it was done here).
I really liked the ghost simpsons short, because it was clearly very self aware at the older character personalies compared to the current. Almost as if they never even forgotten or left, lol. Aside that, it didn't feel as crude, violent/gory or disturbing than others. Could be a good thing considering the Treehouse(forgot the number) with the mini-black hole and Back the the Future were decent and almost subtle little shorts.
I liked the treehouse of horror episode.. "Mother won't you please let me go to hell?" And that bumper sticker Homer had, i so want 1 of those on my future car…
me and theresa screaming and shouting so happy to see that hommer dress up like cartoon network zoro in the simsons special.
GO ONE PIECE.

The funny thing is, I noticed how the characters were even animated in a similar way such as like their weird "head twist" thing when they talk and their mouths are in the same place. But yeah, it's fairly startling to see how remarkably different the personalities are after 25 years. It's hard to even pin point when these personalities shifted in such a drastic way (not so much with Bart and Lisa but definitely with Homer).

Well I'll be damned!!
I never thought this could possibly happen, especially with The Simpsions of all things! What an awesome moment indeed! :D
Roronoa Homer - at first i thought it was him then i figured it may be a generic anime samurai, but apparently not.
The Simpsons and Futurama crossover episode was pretty good.
! I really like the cameos of Kane and Kudos with Lrr and Ndnd at the end of the episode.
I liked the cameo of
! Seymour (Fry's dog, that is, though Skinner was all right). Even if it didn't make sense for him to be in Springfield, it was a nice reference.
Surprisingly the crossover episode was not that bad and fared a whole lot better than the Simpsons Family Guy episode which was just…dreadful in retrospect. Only problem with this thing is that it was waaay too short for a potentially interesting set up. In fact, this thing should have been 40 minutes to an hour while the Simpsons Family Guy thing should have only been 20 minutes long. After all, you can pretty much sum up the FG Simpsons thing in 2 sentences while the Futurama/Simpsons crossover had much more going for it.
! Plus the idea of pairing Bender and Maggie is so hilarious that I wish they explored it a little more. But a shame a lot of golden opportunities were missed out due to the length of this thing such as the absence of Zapp and Mom. Also the remarkably MINIMAL screen time with Zoidberg didn't help much either, but at least the ending was fairly cute/sweet.
Been marathoning The Simpsons. And I didn't stop at Season 13. On Season 22 right now.
I have to say… the newer stuff definitely isn't as good or memorable as Seasons 3-9.
However... it's not horrible... It is actually making me laugh and I'm enjoying it. There's definitely a lot of repeated plots tho. Like, I've seen like, 3 more "Bart gets a girlfriend' stories, like 4 "Moe does something to make people love him and loses it" and 2-3 episodes where Krusty gets in trouble with the law/the ratings of his show and The Simpsons have to save the day. Bart getting an animal other than Santa's Little Helper and falling in love with it before hijinx ensues is probably the most overdone one. EDIT: Just started another "Homer goes to Jail" episode. This one feels like its getting a lot of mileage now.
But it's still making me laugh occasionally.
Maybe it's the epically low expectations going in?

Pfft…wait until you get to season 23. The worst Halloween episode (and therefore, worst simpsons episode) awaits you there.

I think Principal and the Pauper will still hold that title tbh.
But I just got to "Moe Completely redoes his bar and makes it successful #5: It's a Gay bar this time!"
That Moe episode with him and Smithers redoing the bar is one of the episodes that I really like from the last couple of years. And it got me interest into watching the series again.
I gotta admit, Seymour's dream was hysterical, especially the Williehorse.
Here's a pretty awesome professionally animated Pixel Art version of the opening.
turns it all into Perlerbead art
I like all the extra references they made there.
I wash myself with a raaaaaaaaaaaag on a stick!
Wow. The actual title sequence was great, but the end bit was amazing.
Omg, that was fantastic, almost figured it was real!
Love that Nelson was playing with one of those ball-in-the-cup things while everyone else could afford mobile gaming xD

There is never a good place for family guy videos.
Ever.

I know this is an old post but I gotta ask…is there a noticeable trend/orientation to family values as the seasons go on? I remember watching a lot of the Simpsons when I was younger and, I don't know, it just seemed like it got a lot more family friendlier as the seasons went on, and I loved that aspect. There were times and episodes I actually got a little chocked up by how Homer dissapointed his family and then went through all means to make it up to them because he really does love them. Episodes where important life lessons were taught and the feelings were the main draw. Is my memory playing games on me or has the Simpsons always been like that since the very beginning?
I know this is an old post but I gotta ask…is there a noticeable trend/orientation to family values as the seasons go on?
Ehh not really, it originally did from the earlier season but that sorta shifted as Homer's character shifted as well. The whole family values things and the morals/lessons associated with it really depends on how the writers wanted to handle Homer (as well as other characters BUT mostly Homer).
Originally Homer (much like the other characters) was fairly a one note character: a firm yet good hearted father figure (albiet with a slight comedic side) much like many father archetypes of his era (80s sitcoms). This sort of archetype allowed for a lot of family values to manifest when it comes to parenting and a lot of season 1-6 episodes had these sort of moments when Homer learns as a father (and husband). However, during this time, the writers discovered that Homer can also function as a victim of comedic circumstances (where nature kicks him in the butt for being such a grump like stepping on a skateboard and falling off a cliff) which gradually shifted to him just generally being "stupid" by bringing the comedic circumstances onto himself for being an idiot (like deliberately sticking his finger into an electric socket).
So most of the stories actually shifted from family values to Homer mostly being an comedic idiot as a result (as this has become the primary aspect of Homer's character rather than him as a "father figure" which is not COMPLETELY absent but…a lot of plots based on him learning as a father has taken a backseat for plots based around Homer being stupid).
