So if we assume that both Kaneki and Amon are properly dead, does that their role in the story will be taken over by Touka and Mado?
Tokyo Ghoul

I would like to see Banjou replacing Kaneki if Ishida stops treating him as the Yamcha of Tokyo Ghoul, Arima is replacing Amon.
If Touka replaces Kaneki TG is gonna bomb, its gonna be Erza Scarlet all over again.
-
Ending, huh? Ain't that somethin'.
(Seriously, though, somebody please change the fucking thread title to "Tokyo Ghoul". The pseudo-Japanese non-title that's there now is driving me up the wall.)
I have made multiple posts in this thread and others about changing thread titles to more accurate ones but none of the mods give a shit apparently

Okay, episode 5 was great. Nishio's development is really well done despite only taking place in one episode. I really like him.
Wow, this villain. So much ham. It is entertaining, tho. -
Good to see another painfully mediocre manga ending this year .

You mean taking out the only interesting thing about this manga ? ( Not Kaneki but his half human and half ghoul concept )

Oh you talking about the anime that is hated by 99% of the Tokyo Ghoul fanbase and is considered to be one of the most rushed out piece of garbage anime to come out in recent years? then yea LOL
-
Tokyo Ghoul anime sucks big time, thats pretty much a fact. The amount of character development excluded from the manga, stupid filler, making the MC look like a whiny version of Ichigo.
Suzuya is another option to replace Kaneki.
-
Nooooooooo
Get me hide and we have a deal

The main character IS a Whiny version of Ichigo until his super-rushed torture / development comes in and makes him even more stereotypical .

I think it's good. Just finished ep. 8. It does this kind of story fine. Hinami's story is good, I like what I've seen of Touka and how Kaneki has developed. All their stories are good and work, as both sides have reasons for being antagonistic like that towards each other. I liked how Kaneki vs. amon and Touka vs. Mado was juxtaposed, and in particular Kaneki's thoughts, and then the bit with the ring on Mado's finger and Touka's reaction to it. I don't feel it's rushed at all.

Do you even read the manga ? If not then you obviously have no clue as to what i am talking about here .

Well, I'm just talking about the anime, but to me it doesn't really feel like it's a rushed story.
-
For the love of all that is good and holy, someone please change the fucking thread title.
Seriously, "Toukyou Kushu" is not a thing.
-
Lol I think you need to pm a mod since none of them seem to read this series :P.

I don't see the Ichigo comparison at all here. Which Ichigo are you talking about? Do you mean a early punk Ichigo, or our current flat Ichigo?
-
I don't see the Ichigo comparison at all here.
Same.
Punk or flat, Kaneki is nothing like Strawberry-Kun. -
Well Both have "demons" inside their body.
White Hair Kaneki was pretty much Dangai Ichigo. -
This "Toukyou Kushu" thing was bugging me so goddamn much. I cannot believe the scanlators haha. ANyways thread title will never bother me again
Tokyo Ghoul thread../ is saved
EDIT: JUST IN TIME FOR THE MANGa TO END? GODDAMIT i'm laughing a really sad laugh.
-
Hahahahaha the mods had to change the name when the last chapter came out .
-
Sorry about that
-
Just read the last chapter and i gotta say it was easily one of the worst endings i have ever seen . Definitely on par with Reborn and Nurarihyon no mago terrible endings .
-
wow that so sudden, last chapter Is up now: http://imperialscans.com/read/tokyo-ghoul/143-punishment/1
-
did the author end the manga because he was so pissed at what the fuck Studio Pierrot did to the anime?
I mean, the clowns are called Pierrot and they were part of the reason why we have such a crappy ending.Oops.
-
Well that was a messed up ending. If I understood it right, Touka says he'll come back to us and then the last page is Arima at the end with Kaneki in the suitcase as his new quinque.
-
Definitely don't think that's Kaneki as a quinque at the end. It will be a major plot hole as it takes a considerable amount of time to make a Ghoul into a quinque, especially a stronger one. Amon, Hide and Kaneki cannot be dead, just let me go on believing this.
Lots of loose ends at the end, I'm utterly distraught that he ended it on such a note. Now just waiting for the announcement in October, won't get my hopes up but we may get a second part.
-
I refuse to believe this will end like this…
-
That was worse than Yu Yu Hakusho.
-
uh hopefully this means time-skip or something like that in the future.
-
I wouldn't be hyping myself up for a part 2 announcement. The event in October sounds anime related so it's most likely a season 2 announcement.
-
He'll probably announce a sequel in a few months. Changing the title to indicate the change in protagonist. Maybe Amon as a Half-Ghoul, Juuzou or Touka.
Or maybe he is doing this in protest for the anime. In that case….., well, it was better than Negima's ending. -
! Last chapter of the manga -> "The ones that get the last laugh … are us, the PIERROT"
! Oh, no is the studio pierrot trolling! They butchered the anime and manga on purpose XD -
Well, I'm caught up with the anime. I like it. Most of the characters get their little bit of character development and action's nice when it's not censored. Oh, hey and Yuki Kaji got to play an asshole brother to the more stoic badass sister again. I think it works as a stand-alone completely fine right now and that's what matters to me.
-
The anime was okay until it reaches Aogiri Tree arc where they are pretty much squeezing 10 chapters
into a single episode and rushing the entire arc in less than 4 episodes.
Just watched the recently released ones and whoa did they butcher the torture scene.
Screw Pierrot seriously the only thing they care about is that blond hair kid with that stupid flashy orange jacket that goes on forever. -
Wow, anime is already at Aogiri? I mean it started when they were at the haunted house, right?
So, Mask Goth(No Face) was a villain all along? -
Kyoto Ghoul, why am I even posting in here I'm not even reading this :P.
-
I'm terribly sorry for unintentionally spoiling all of you earlier. It was only pure speculation on my part at first that soon became the truth.
What a horrible ending.
-
Wow, anime is already at Aogiri? I mean it started when they were at the haunted house, right?
So, Mask Goth(No Face) was a villain all along? They're extremely rushing the anime. There's only 12 episodes for this season and if they end at the end of the Aogiri arc it'll be 80 chapters they went through. The only really started the Aogiri arc at episode 9 so they're basically doing 10 chapters for 1 episode which is just stupid. I don't even want to know how the final episode will work since they still have the Yamori/Ayato fight left and that's not even taking into account they still haven't did the whole Kaneki accepting Rize dream part and him getting his OP power boost. So something is obviously going to get cut since there isn't enough time to include all that in 20+ minutes.

Tokyo Ghoul Part 2: The Adventure of Kaneki the Briefcase
-
I must say: what a week it was. One Piece had his shortest chapter ever, Sasuke gone heel(again.), Ignel was inside Natsu all along and Kenichi and TG suddenly ended.
-
Turns out V14 was actually Volume 14, and no Ghoul can go beyond it.
!
Credit goes to Batoto comments section. -

And Fairy Tail was the best manga this week, Igneel vs Acnologia!!!

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL no wonder Fairytail is one of the most garbage piece of shit ever created in fiction .

On chapter 46. The only thing they've skipped so far is the Rize chapter and Touka training with Kaneki and Yomo, they moved the two arcs around, but for some reason I feel like it works better with those switched around. Maybe because of Kaneki's resolve at the end of the Hinami arc. I don't think the anime did it injustice. It might've cut some of the more unimportant stuff, and of course, censor things, but it works. Rearraging, but not really skipping. The themes are there, the character development is there. Nishiki and Touka best characters so far :) The plot, action and world-building is all relatively standard, but damn the themes and characters. Great stuff in those aspects overall. I hate the Shuu character, though.

Based on the Ishida Sui's (the author of Tokyo Ghoul) twitter, s/he said that s/he was planning to explain the situation on Thursday, but the info. was released rapidly (like from Anime News Network), so the author struggle whether to announce this early or wait until the magazine actually released. In conclusion, Ishida decide to announce it after the magazine was released, and he apologize to read who heard this news early but didn't announce it until this day.
Also, Ishida didn't really explained why TG ended and whether there going to be a sequel or not. S/he just said if there going to be announcement, then it should be release either in Young Jump magazine or in TG official website; but, Ishida doesn't really say when the announcement going to be. In conclusion, we have to wait little bit more about TG announcement.

Saw the live stream of episode 12 and caught up with the point where the anime ends in the manga. So, I'm spoiled with the ending that Kaneki dies. But looking at this episode/fight in the manga and the ideas the series wants to convey, it makes perfect sense for him to eventually die, at least it's one direction it could go in. That transformation is really sad. He's basically continuing to the cycle of hatred. He's pretty much part of it now, instead of the one to break it. :( It also would make sense if another protagonist would take over when he dies to finally break this cycle. At least, that's what I get as far as I'm into the story.
Really interesting themes and characters in this one. I bet there's a lot of bitching of how "unfaithful" it is, but it made it's point and that's all you sometimes need. I really liked how the series handled the ideas it wanted to convey. The adaption works on it's own pretty nicely because of that.
Also, the skipping is done in a way in which it can be shown in case there is plans for season 2. They basically compiled all of the Kaneki stuff in this into one episode. It makes sense. They kept the story's heart and I think that's what matters more in it then ultimately trivial stuff like world-building. Details of lore don't contribute to the character development or themes of a series at all. Got a wonky start with an annoying villain, but I think it's a solid 12 eps.
-
Great! This season's finale was great on the character and theme level, but it didn't wrap anything up in terms of story and skipped some of the world-building and less relevant characters. They can cover the stuff they skipped then.
-
I just wish that if they were going to have a second season so soon that they didn't rush the first season so much.
-
I don't understand that complaint? It worked really well emotionally, I'm caught up to the point where Kaneki's hair turns white and I didn't feel it was somehow lessened in impact. I don't think the art is that amazing in the manga and what was skipped was not relevant to the heart of the story, obviously now that season 2 is announced, they can go back and explain the four types of Kagune, Suzuya's character, cover the Rize chapter and all the action that's during the fight with Yamori and Kaneki. I think the first accidental meeting between Amon and Mado and Kaneki and Touka was skipped, but I don't see what big relevance it had in the big picture. They mostly skipped unimportant stuff, and that's the way to go when there isn't much time to work with.
