I'm going to enjoy seeing Robin vs Gladius fight, I just hope it's not too short. It looks like Barto is finally going to stop being a fanboy for tiny bit to fight alongside Robin and the others.
Which, is good because while I enjoyed Barto the fanboy, I wanted to see Barto the Badass again. It might help him get along better with the Strawhats if he acted normal around them.
Well, I'm not too pleased to see Sugar again because of her powers. I have to wonder if the memory thing happens again to people already been turned to toys . I can't imagine how Ussop is going to pull off round 2 with Sugar. Maybe her new phobia of all things long nose will be a assist to him.
I have to say that the Flower Field will be a perfect place for a fight for Rebecca vs Diamante and probably Diamante vs Kyros. It's almost poetic to see the fight about to happen there. -
Can anyone else see Oda using Sugar to really over do the … "nakama" aspect of One Piece?
I mean, when Robin was turned into a toy, we never got any panels showing everyone forgetting Robin, but what if Sugar gets Luffy, and instead of everyone forgetting we see all the Strawhats struggle for a second and then they all pause and we hear Usopp come flying down on an escape sparrow and yell
"Did you really think, we would ever forget, OUR CAPTAIN!?" Then he snipes sugar, Luffy is freed, and tada we continue.
(Note I don't really want that to happen, it really fells like Fairy Tail in terms of nakama stuff, but for some reason, I can just see it that's all.)
But otherwise I liked the chapter, I'm pumped for Rebecca and Kyros vs Diamente. It would be quite, interesting to see Rebecca actually hold her own. I mean she did quite well in Block D, even barely avoiding one direct hit from Hakuba when no one else could, so I could see her at least dancing around Diamente for a bit, though she might still be a bit too traumatized to do anything.
Maybe seeing her father will help her get over the "traumatized" bit and she'll begin to fight... I dunno, I'm grasping for straws.

The thing is, that in terms of motivation, Barto is more likely to move forward than Robin.
Robin went there to deliver Law's keys, which she gave to Rebecca. She doesn't have anything else to do.
Barto went there because Luffy was there. With Luffy moving forward, it's not hard to see Bartolomeo doing the same somehow.
Barto won't leave Robin's side, at least not in a _"lol you stay here and deal with those monstrosities while I go and check up on Luffy-senpai"-_way.
He wants to be her slave, her protector. He said it twice already.

If anyone leaves the battle, it's Robin. As for the reason why? God knows. Franky got removed from the SOP group because he couldn't fit through the damn tunnel. Sanji got removed because he was the only one who could fly and the sudden appearance of Big Moms ship. Anything can and will happen. Especially now with each and every officer making his or her move.
I absolutely want to see Robin do something cool and I would LOVE to be wrong here, but this looks like an angry fanboy-battle to me. Maybe he gets extra pissed if Robin gets hit by a shrapnel or so.

Please, PLEASE let Robin actually fight Gladius here. We are so overdue for a legitimate Robin fight that it's ridiculous, and this was a great set-up for one. Heck, I'm even okay with Bart joining in, as long as Robin plays a significant role in the battle (hopefully she gets the finishing blow, for example). I love Bart and all, but having him shine over one of the Strawhats, Robin in particular, would be really annoying. Ideally, I'd like Bart to hold off the nutcrackers while Robin focuses on Gladius, but if they both fight Gladius that would be fine too. I'm just really worried that it will be the other way around, with Bart vs. Gladius and Robin taking care of the fodder (AGAIN). Seriously, Robin vs Gladius has potential even with Bart there, and I want to be justified in feeling excited for it.
I'm actually glad that Sugar's back, since though her passing out was funny, it was kind of wasted potential. Hopefully Usopp will get a rematch against her, but regardless I'm interested to see what will come of it. Hopefully we won't have to deal with toy/memory loss shenanigans too much, but if we do hopefully it doesn't take up too much time.
Rebecca coming across Diamante was cool, with a very nice spread at the end. I'm very doubtful that Rebecca can take her on her own (and I actually LIKE Rebecca), but hopefully she holds her own well enough until Kyros inevitably comes. Ideally, I'd like Rebecca and Kyros to take him on together, but as long as Rebecca holds her own well enough I'll be happy.
Pretty good chapter overall, definitely better than last week. I'm just hoping that the things that got me excited this chapter will actually pay off (again, PLEASE let Robin actually get this fight!).

So I predicted it right that there will be Gladius vs Bartolomeo fight.
I am not a big fan of seeing Robin fighting so she can go and throw those toys from cliff or something
and let some awesome action scenes between Gladius and Bartolomeo shine. -
I like the arc I just don't want Sugar and her logic, common sense and reality defying super hax bullshit drama powers to be in it anymore. Glossing over the time it happened to Robin was a good idea since it didn't cause a bunch of unnecessary drama to sidetrack from what needs to be done that would also be painfull to read. We already got more then enough of this toy business.
Agreed. We really don't need an "amnesia crisis" in the middle of all this. Not only would it distract from the main emotional core of the arc (Rebecca/The Riku Family/the Dressrosians) it would also just be a hugely diversion unwanted diversion given what's currently happening. If Oda does go there, it should just be for pure comedy (Luffy turns into a toy, Bartolomeo goes insane).
I'd prefer her powers be more explored in the types of toys she can make, which we're seeing a glimpse of in this chapter.

Maybe Baby 5 or another exec from Lvl 2 comes up and joins Gladius, so that way it's a proper 2v2. Besides its only looking like Ideo, Sai and Don Chinjao are going to be the fighters left standing down there anyway (I don't see Harjudin or Elizabello doing much from here on out)
Also: Ussop and Kanjuro vs. Jora and Sugar = Hilarity and probably the best fight one piece could offer.

Definitely.
I wasn't downplaying Gladius and the toys. It'll for sure be a hard fight for Barto/Robin. It's just Robin's treament post TS so far has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I miss the way she was portrayed pre-TS.
I feel the same way as well. I hope that one day she'll get a legit solo fight of her own. :(

It does seem like Hack has completely forgotten how to speak, or interact, or. . .do anything else other than stand there, arms crossed. BUT, the one getting Kin in a headlock was Tank.
(BTW, Tank seeing if the Sparrow is alright is quite amusing, honesty).
Edit: Shit, totally missed Hack's line. Yeah. . .this makes little sense, lol. Guess Oda forgot, considering there're only 75 thousand characters in this arc. . .

That's not true. . .or not entirely true. Oda still let's her do the "Void Century Expo Dump" once every two arcs, so as long as these need to happen, Robin will be there.
And I honestly think Sugar's fiasco aside, Robin has at least used her powers a couple of times throughout the arc, Oda in fact brought back her creepy face popping thingie, and till it's proven otherwise, it seems she'll get a fight, even if possibly shared. Plus she's still missing her numbered chapter, so Oda might possibly have something in store for her in the near/mid/far future. . .
That's more than what we can say about Nami, honestly.

That is true. She's always stay relevant for that specific reason.
Maybe it's me that feels that way because her physical presence just seems lacking. A good solid 1v1 will this great justice.

Sugar could just touch Luffy, hide and then watch everything fall apart. Since most people had already been reverted back into human form, there wouldn't be a massive effort to go take down Sugar because no one would remember Luffy :sad:. I expect Lao G to be at least as strong as he is part of Fighters group and Lao G seems to be under only Diamante in his group of fighters.
Commando guys seems to be DF users + tricky fighters - Pica being example as while he is not on par with Zoro when it comes to skill he is using his ability very well stalling Zoro and trying to take him
out in many ways. At same time Fighters group seems to most effective when it comes to dealing with enemies - Dellingers KOing spree shows that fighters group is very effective.
As for Special Powers group they are also deadly but mostly thanks to their skills- commando group is group of fighters using their powers left and right, fighters seem to be more into straight up fighting moves + DF powers while special powers group is using mostly their abilities to full extent- Trebol.In short all groups are dangerous but I would take fighters as most formidable group in all kinds of situations.
So I expect more from Lao G than from Gladius(even as Gladius has probably one of my favourite designs in years and he also seems to be straight up simple badass).

Those toys can be just thrown from cliff with Robins or Bartolomeos DF.. So even as indestructible they can still be taken care of in some way now, especially at level 3 height.

I'm sorry i've been following one piece very long and have always been a big fan, but this Dress Rosa Arc, i finally came to realize that One Piece is really inferior compared to other shounen when it comes to covering fights!!!
They've got like great characters good guys and bad guys. But the fights most of the time don't deliver compared to the classic(top 5 shounen fights within for example )Hunter X Hunter, Full metal alchemist etc.
ODA seems to use cheap tricks to keep us entertained, lately i came to realize that the same cheap tricks i condemned of a (potentially) GOAT tv serie as LOST also apply to One Piece! In lost they made sure to keep creating NEW questions and mysteries to keep the fans tuning in. At a certain time with Lost i and many others felt that they were more concerned with creating more and more questions and mysteries than adressing the most essential questions the fans of the series wanted to be answered in a proper way the fans deserved IMO. In lost they also wasted precious episodes in season 2 with Sawyer being trapped in a cage.
In tv series 24 precious time/episodes were wasted in season 2 when Kim Bauer, jacks daughter was lost and it didnt serve any purpose to the story.
Unlike lets say Breaking Bad were it seems the makers were fans doing it for the fans. And giving all the goods and covering all the goods :-)Back to One Piece.

-how one of the best characters to date was handled of screen as Magellan(blackbeard's team).
-I dont like how the fight when down between the executive and Sugar vs Robin and Usop.(compare usop vs sugar with for example: hunter x hunter kurapika vs uvogin)
-Silver Rayleigh vs Kizaru
-most of the time it seems the straw hats win not by skill but by mere luck, Usop vs Sugar. And even Luffy vs CC, luffy was done KO but he got a second chance.I mean the time they waste to find person X,Y and Z all over the place could be replaced with Hunter X Hunter and FMA level fights easy!!! y'all know that will be a long Arc right? They have to go to go to green bit and Travalgar's team has to be seen etc. All in All i bet ya the fights will be subpar-like ; Fujitora vs Sabo, epic fights with Big mom's crew are not likely to happen.
In conclusion i would be surprised if this Arc with all of it's potential delivers 2 Epic fights that are on some HxH or FMA level. ODA seems to think all of his fans think that:
humor(Usop vs Sugar etc.) > fights
mysteries > fights
maybe this arc will be 98% searching and meeting people and 2% good fights based on skills and not luck(Usop vs Sugar)
I still like One Piece tho' but it could have been so much better, so many years so few,few,few epic fights. a good example of an epic fight IMO in FMA is Fuhrer vs Scar -

Characters fight like wild beasts in One Piece and like chess players in HxH. Both are great IMO. I don't see the point of watching both if they are done the same way.

I really wish the Strawhats had a better Anti-Sugar strategy - similar like they had an Anti-Mr. 2 strategy back in Alabasta.
Like writing all the crew members names on their arms - and whenever they think something is illogical and/or they have time to check it, they would just have a little look on that list. So if Luffy gets toyified and it somehow feels strange, they just had to check it up and - considering that Luffy is the first name on the list - it wouldn't be that hard to deduce that their captain, Luffy by name, became a toy.

I still want my Robin vs Trebol but it seems Cavendish is a perfect fit for Ugly Vs Beautifull theme.
Another reason Robin isn't a candidate for Trebol is because Franky is limited to Senior Pink although he is handicapped.
