@Nidhoeggr:
I refuse to discuss anything of importance in detail until I have read the official translations. Screw Panda and Stream with their elementary school grammar.
But i want you…
@Brizan:
I have been thinking about this a lot. First let me ignore his ability for a moment and just go off of his personality to narrow the field.
His even tone and level-headedness makes me think manipulation, but his paranoia of considering every possible thing that could go wrong is more of a materialization trait. I would hardly call him impatient, simple, or whimsical so I find his main type very unlikely to be any of the other 3.
However, once you see his ability, he is either emitting his aura from the cards to make a cage or transmuting his aura to have the properties of a cage. I say that the cage is composed of nen and not materialized because kurapika's co-worker/underling used gyoh to see his ability http://www.mangapanda.com/hunter-x-hunter/343/14 and that would not be needed if the cage was materialized from the card as it would be physical and not composed of nen.
If I had only seen the cards I would have said materialization of some sort. But, after seeing his ability I am inclined to think he is using 80% emission that is strengthened by conditions (Don't come any closer and violence is not tolerated) under his 80% materialization. These two are likely brought together by 100% manipulation where he manipulates humans using decrees he enforces with emitted consequences from 3 different materialized cards. I am assuming what we saw was yellow by the way.
As for the rest, I have no idea. I am under the presumption that either the room or the predefined space where he is standing is the metaphorical "court room". So maybe he can teleport people to him and banish them. However, if that was so, that discussion of Knov they had in a previous chapter would have been completely pointless.
Of course, i have learned from reading this manga that Togashi can find a way to explain his way through anything through the use of little comedic cartoons and heavy handed narration. So it could be anything but reinforcement really.
Interesting. Just debating 2 points:
1- The Reinforcement = simple people; Emitters = rash, impatient ; etc is just an analyses created by Hisoka. Himself admitted that it was just for fun and not factually correct.
A good example is probably Franklin.
If it´s true that in his first appearance he clashed with Nobunaga over petty things, when things were about to get nasty after Chrollo´s kidnapping he was the one that calmed the Spiders and stopped Phinks and Nobunaga from starting a massacre based on pure logic. When the gang needed someone to think, he was the one that stepped up.
That is not " impatient, not detail-oriented, and quick to react in a volatile manner."
2- About the cage itself, after looking at that chapter once more i came up with a couple of theories.
First, i totally agree with you on the Materialisation point. Unless, for some reason i genuinely can´t think off, he made some vow/limitation on himself for the cage to turn invisible, which sounds dumb.
Secondly, it can indeed be a Transmutation, like property of metal or stone so his opponents could not move.
Yet there is something that makes me think otherwise: the shape of the cage.
It´s not wrapped around those guys. It has the shape of a cube, so one would think they could at least move inside the cube. They are totally paralysed though.
Also, and this can only be confirmed by seeing the ability again, we´re not really sure if there is an aura cage around those guys.
Togashi is the kind of guy that occasionally draws stuff that does not happen in order for the reader to understand what the character is feeling at that moment, for exemple, Killua slicing that guy´s face in half.
Maybe the cage is just some sort of methapor, even though it showing up after the dude used Gyo is certainly a strong clue about it really being an Aura cage.
About Manipulation, another clue is that a lot of users whose Hatsu is based in manipulating people use for sort of vehicle to initiate the control.
Shalnark uses the antenna, Baise the kiss, Illumi the needles.
Maybe Mizai uses the cards.
Emission is also a contender, but i would say that is strange.
Emission strong point is that the users can separate the aura from their body and send it far away without it losing strenght as quickly as the others.
The cage creation seems like a misuse of it´s strenghts.
Also, those conditions must have some sort of backlash. Unless the "violence is not tolerated" also applies to himself which would be a pretty good one.
Still viable though.
I am inclined to say Manipulation and Emission.
