The problem with this chapter is that Arlong park predicted most of it before the spoilers were released? Executives rolling the colosseum fighters? Check. Kyros going after Diamante? Check.

Arlong Park predicted these things happening because they make sense and the ground was more or less set for them to happen.

And, thinking twice about it, many people still think the Colosseum fighters will mop the floor with the Dofla Officers. And, thinking thrice? about it, everyone predicted the flashback taking place during this chapter, not what actually happened.

It turns out I actually liked majority of Dressrosa chapters.

Only last thirteen I had any problems with.

So yeah, going to leave it here:

Dressrosa, chapters 700-739 was okay, good, excellent at moments. Most importantly, it was a fun read.

Dressrosa chapters 740-onwards… isn't. That's all there is to it. Altough for different reasons for each individual chapter.

It would help if Oda was willing to give his story some time to breath. We don't need to see everything going on, neither we need to see every seconds being drawn. All of this stuff should have happened a while ago, we've had countless of moments showing Luffy and the gladiators ready to go against Doflamingo. Remember when Dofla shot Law? That was the moment Luffy started to run toward Dofla, and that's a very long time ago now.

I don't usually agree with you, but this is worrying me too.

Since the timeskip started, 155 chapters or so later, we've only visited 3 places, and 1 of them is not even considered part of the New World (Fishman Island).

Unless Oda gives us some shorter arcs later down the line, it's almost like we can count the islands that are left (Zo, Wano, Cake Island, wathever Kaidou's island is, Elbaf. . .¿Raftel?).

I do hope he shortens some of these arcs so we can explore other islands-areas-seas.

But you're about right. I wanted to search for a thread we partook in right back at the end of 2013, and we were to point out our favorite and least favorite of the year, One Piece wise. And, surprisingly, most of it was positive. There were complaints, the main ones being the fiercely over-fast jump-cut paneling Oda had been abusing by then and the off-paneling of Block D. It covered up till 733, if I'm not mistaken. But, overall, it wasn't short on positive comments, and I'm not only talking about the "fanboy Goggles" users in here…

I honestly think things got worse since then. Little did we know the off-paneling would get out of hand, that The Usopp Tragedy would befell us, and that we'd get a bit too much running on our hands. Ironically, now we'd probably wish Oda had off-paneled like 50% the running, instead of Franky and Usopp's fight. He's not off-paneling the right panels!

I still like plenty of 2014 chapters: Kamaitachi of Rommel, Dressrosa Shakes or Repayment feature plenty of good shit in them. And this chapter I honestly enjoyed. And I think we might get good stuff if Oda decides to focus on the fights and a proper flashback for Law-Dofla. But I don't know what demons possessed Oda at times this year. I honestly don't know.

I like Dellinger being sick vicious little shit in this chapter

Diamante tormented Rebecca with telling her about killing her mother and we seen Trebol having fun while trying to kill Dwarves..
Now there is also Delliger who loves to simply kill people.

Its interesting to see that he - even while being lowest in food chain in Doflamingos crew - is really strong. Suleiman whos design I really really like gotten almost instantly defeated.
Also Dagama shined as he had some of a hero inside of him beside being backstabber and money lover.
Solid chapter. All in all in volume it shoud be great read along with next few chapters.

Also King Cannon- maybe my Bully fruit theory for Dellinger isnt great, but I dont do any harm and its fun to speculate so ya know, you think yours, I think mine and in the end we will get what Oda delivers and still be happy with it:happy:

But I definitely give you kudos for trying to help them see things through.

You are correct, Oda is actually one of the few mangakas that spends the time to skip unnecessary stuff. Sometimes to the point that he skips things that readers actually wanted to see.

@Kirk - I'm not sure what kind of story progression you're looking for, but in that moment you mentioned when Dofla shot Law, Sugar was still a huge problem that had to be resolved. Defeating Dofla at that point in time would not have given the people of Dressrosa their freedom.

and if it's not,what is on top of the factory is just simple glass..why search for the key or a way to open the door when you can just climb there and smash the glass?

Kairoseki is made of "sea" in some sense, of course it can be transparent.

Bellamy made the chapter for me, along with Dellinger's panel time.

I thought it was a little silly that Don Chinjao is taken out so easily, I feel like it should have been someone else, but I doubt he's out of the count for the entire thing. I guess it's beefing up the executives so there's some good out of it, but the scene still didn't feel right.

I also think it's silly that the dwarves are so gullible but they'll immediately start a fight the second their friends say "we were fooled". Considering how gullible they are and how little they think about how they might be deceived it seemed a little strange that they could so quickly realize they were fooled with just a few words. Then again the dwarves are easily influenced by others, I guess them deciding to attack in the smile factory is just as surprising as how gullible they are. The silver lining is that they trust their friends without a shred of doubt, I guess I don't have a reason to complain when that's the reason they are so decisive.

Chinjao was still up on the last page. The only one who apparently went down was Suleiman.

I took the scene more of a showcase of Derringer's ability, than Suleiman getting defeated…

Up until a few chapters ago, this would have been a great example, except that we're now getting a re-match with Franky vs Senor Pink.
If this 2nd fight is off-paneled again, then your point stands.

After Sugar's defeat is basically the start of all the chaos. My interpretation was that the events all followed each other, so there's not really any breathing room...

The glass is most likely combined with sea stone due to Wapol.

Exactly what I was about to say, Franky has gotten thrashed before by Lucci, I don't need to see extra panels of him getting his ass kicked. Just give me a rematch that blows me away. Hopefully Senor has more than just his devil fruit as a technique.

LoL it makes sense. Doffy deals with many countries and post-TS Wapol is a king so it's definitely possible. No it's better than that! It's the only explanation I can accept now. But we will probably have to wait for the SbS.

I'm happy that we're gonna get the gladiators fighting against Doflamingo's group… but I really want a series of Marinford style "here's a quick look at what THESE guys do that makes them cool" panels.

Ohlumbus and Suleiman still come across as nothing special. Hell, Dagama just got a page showing off why he's awesome. Dagama The Tactician rules! He rallied those misfits into a fighting formation that's gonna hold off Doflamingo's forces!

It's more a matter of how out of character Dofly acts when he has to face Luffy.

He is a smart guy and one of the few that knows that Luffy's greatest strenght is not his gomu gomu whatever but that he is One Piece's Griffith, that he only needs to smile in a funny way to got a herd of followers. With that in mind that he decided to sent Luffy to "square one" seems really really odd.

My point is, Dofla knows that Luffy is dangerous yet he thinks that putting a bounty on his head or sending a string clone is enough to deal with him. He is not really trying, nor is Luffy, and thats why all these episodes feel so redundant.

I think Doffy would be acting pretty differently if he didn't have other factors like Fuji, the revolutionary army, his last decade of work being completely unfolded and such in the mix.

Not chemistry, but simply that metal is mined from rock. (which most likely Oda's train of thought there)

On a different note: After seeing Gladius's "land mines" thing got to me the conclusion that not only Gladius had a great reason to be in Pica's army but also wonder how would their teamwork would look like in battle together and if we ever get to see such a thing. (and I don't consider setting up fitting to that)
Also, after seeing Baby 5's and Buffalo's tag team, Senor pink and Machvise (and their additional team fight with Dellinger), makes me wonder if we we'll ever see more Donquixote pirates team up fights (and by this chapter most likely will) and Especially with the Executives.

Moreover, this probably goes without saying, but the Donquixote Pirates great ability of team up fighting (and the team ups are most likely dynamic from fight to fight) shows how great of a crew they really are and their strong bond. (and a dreaded Alabasta comparison: unlike Baraque Works where the team fights were by hiring assassin couples)

I don't think it's a flaw too. But it's you who said that DR running phase is better than PH because they run through different locations instead of corridors.

The only way it might not cause an uproar is if it's a Segway into the Doflamingo/Law flashback in general. I wouldn't be surprised if Bellamy was part of the flashback for part of a chapter.

The only way I think Oda could stall would be to focus back on Robin & co., maybe Sanji and Big Mom, maybe on Kin'emon, or maybe (although this is very small) on Jesus Burgess, but that's all I can think of.

Yay, there's no break next week, and with the way this chapter was set up I'm inclined to think that next week's is gonna be pretty good. Oda literally has nowhere else he can stall now. With the way that Dagama organized everyone, all the Don Quixote Family has been accounted for now so there shouldn't be anymore roadblocks between Luffy's party making it to the Flower Field, save maybe some more fodder soldiers. If Trebol, Diamante, or Mingo decide to try and halt them now, nothing but awesomeness will come it because of WHO they're trying to stop. Sabo's fight, awesomeness. Zoro's fight, awesomeness. Franky's fight, awesomeness. Tontatta rebellion, awesomeness. If he does decide to jump into backstory again, it's backstory we've been craving for, so more awesomeness.

Basically, he has nothing but awesome to fall back on. Unless…
