@Monkey:
Well it's a bit awkward for the former Communist countries, because that's one of those things that hit (most) of the West when you guys were all under the proverbial thumb. The sort of movement that wasn't really possible because movements outside the party weren't possible. You guys had some feminism pressed on you by the governments that happened to be good, but then like everything in one party states that left you waaay behind on the other end.
Feminism (second wave anyway) was like huge in the West in the 60's and 70's, changed a lot or rather started a lot of change that has been pumping away ever since.
But you guys were uh…having Soviet tanks roll over you around the same time Steinem was doing her thing, and the equivalent people in Britain and France and Finland.
I imagine the Czech Republic as more progressive than like every other former communist country (aside from maybe Slovenia) though, I have zero idea how bad or good it is there.
Also of course not ever west bloc country had a lot of advancement unfortunately. Italy and the two Greek countries are notably behind.
Well the fact I have been stood up on many a job offer due to being the only guy there, or being offered a lousily paid job abroad instead of the secretary job I had applied and came to an interview about, only to be told it was already promised to someone…..only to then find a new add for the position like two weeks later, that makes me want to be spitefull but I imagine that'd be a problem anywhere.
So honestly, I think it's pretty "normal" from what I can see as someone who A) has never lived anywhere else and B) isn't a woman, or close to any woman except a pensioner and a self proclaimed invalid/housewife (who happens to threaten people with knives, refuse to apply for jobs or go to one of her two job interviews in twenty years because there "would be no point", while insisting every single failed job interview on my part is some sort of spitefull intentional self sabotage meant as an affront to her personally, sorry, venting).
I do know that getting a job as a male waiter in this city is next to impossible as they only want to hire women for men to oggle apparently.
