Shabaody was the point where animation officially became crap.
I'm really happy for you, and imma let you finish, but Sabaody had one of the best One piece animations of all time.

Exactly. Enies Lobby had some of the best animation. It's like they don't even try anymore.
Aaah, the good times, when anime was actually fun to watch.

You can't be serious when Luffy looks like my nephew's drawings.
Shabaody was the point where animation officially became crap.
Yeah, that's when they started "changing stuff for the better". :cwy:
I'm really happy for you, and imma let you finish, but Sabaody had one of the best One piece animations of all time.
One of 30 best?
I agree that Sabaody was one of the worst in terms of animation.
The anime has always been awful. It just varies on what level it's dropping it's pile of rubbish on.
Actually, Thrillerbark/Sabaody was the best one.
During the production of Sabaody Toei decided upon a bring your child to work day. Bring your child to work was an instant hit, especially with the kids. Toei was so pleased that they decided to do it every week. One day the kids got into the studio and started drawing their own scenes. The animators were appalled, but were so impressed they actually let their son/daughters finish the arc. And the rest my friends is history.
IMO, the art style peaked around Skypiea/Water 7.
IMO there's not any best one piece animation , there is a less worst which i think was amazon lily
but even that u can't compare with the worst of magi or HXH (2011) animation
i thought that would change in dressrosa but changed my mind when i saw the egg-like meteor in the opening
and fugitora's scene at the restaurant just came to prove that toei hates one piece
not to mention zoro , sanji running through statues that were meant to be people
Lol animations in one piece aren't bad but they are still better than nary to vs pain… It has that much at least....
After seeing Cavendish turned into a toy and given how he falls asleep unvoluntarily (I forgot that thing's name), I can totally see how he will be able to disobey Trebol's and the girl's orders as soon as he falls asleep and Rommel takes over saving the day for Robin, Ussop and the dwarves.
I can't wait to see how this arc is going to play out. Sabo and Ace's fruit will be awesome!
So here's a thought…
Sabo showed off a technique called Dragon Talons, right? I was looking at his stance and I started to think of Shaolin animal styles. What if the Shaolin animal styles (dragon, tiger, mantis, monkey, snake, crane, leopard) are used as a sort of counter-part to Rokushiki, and are taught by/to the Revolutionaries? I'm not going to guess at what the other techniques would be, but if you look into the styles briefly, you can see where some elements of the actual styles could fit with One Piece's super-martial arts.
Wow I thought there was some great animation in Saboady that I especially noticed, there were moments of loose-arty animation I liked:
Eustass Kid pirates & Heart pirates vs pacifistas.
Strawhats vs the Pacifistas
Kizaru vs Rayleigh
Kuma vs Straw hats
The black&white animation when luffy punched the celestial dragon.
. . . guess I'm alone in that.
we're not talking about content, we're talking about quality, and from Shabaody till now it's been the worst animation I have ever seen.
- The black&white animation when luffy punched the celestial dragon.
God I hated that so much. A scene like that and the best they could come up with is "we'll draw it like a sketch and won't color it!"!?
Most similar moment in One Piece was Luffy slamming Bellamy into the ground and I wanted this Tenryuubito to get punched like 10 times more. In Jaya arc, you could almost feel the punch Luffy landed on Bellamy. The way the camera followed his fist going down, followed by Bellamy slamming the ground instantly. I was speachless. It was before flat internet, so I recorded it on VHS and replayed the scene for dozens of times. I only saw that Charlos punch once and I never want to see it again.
You mean the definition of badly written plot armor, than yes. There was no reason for him to stop attacking after his attempt and sleep other than to make a silly way of her winning. I still seriously doubt she could even beat half the named characters left, there's only so much you can do standing at the edge of a ring waiting for a counter throw.
The main reason people don't exactly seem to be fans of her is that she is in a gladiator tournament where people fight one another and she doesn't want to hit anybody. I will say this chapter made me like her a little bit. Even though it was pathetic for her to stand behind Barto, it was a smart and hilarious move.
You're talking about Hakuba, right? See, idk if Rebecca would have been able to take care of all those people left in D-block, but what exactly do you mean by "no reason for him to stop attacking"? Because what I saw, and everyone else saw, was ever other contestant besides Cavendish/Hakuba fall down, including Rebecca, meaning the impression was she was knocked out. Assuming Hakuba can "leave" whenever it wants, it makes sense that it would stop after believing it defeated everyone. If we assume Hakuba can't control how long it's present, it's not like it skipped out on Rebecca, she still got attacked just like everyone else. She just managed to avoid damage a lot better than the rest in the length of time Hakuba was allowed to stay. Hakuba going back to sleep is a non-issue imo. Oda CREATING Hakuba in the first place is a different story (idk if this is an issue with you, so I direct the rest of this to everyone).
A plot twist was necessary in order to safely get Rebecca in the Final, why frown upon it? Without twists, we can't have entertaining stories. If we complain about them, then we really must have nothing better to discuss. And honestly, Hakuba was an effective twist. I know I couldn't care less about Cavendish prior to that development. Now I'm curious.
I love the animation style implemented in the charlos scene.
I think they got that from the OP movie 6, which looked awesome IMO.
When it comes to Bad animation, Alabasta wins. I wish I still had that screenshot to show of a toothless Usopp yelling to Chopper.

haha I think I agree. What was up with Miss Doublefingers walk when she was fighting Nami? Did Oda intend for it to look so jerky and rigid in the manga?

and how is this better than the one above?

IF you ask me, OP animation quality was at it's peak during THRILLER BARK , it was REALLY GOOD during Sabaody too. IT worsened after luffy decided to go to Impel down.
You can also tell by the openining
One piece Opening 11 and 12 had the best animation.
Opening 13 already started to suck.
Lol animations in one piece aren't bad but they are still better than nary to vs pain… It has that much at least....
I think keeping an stilled image on screen for over 2 minutes doesn't count as animation.

seriously i do the same i love that part ive seen it a lot.

everything in that scene is gold imo, the music puts alot of tension in the scene, the drawing is really good, the haoshoku part was well executed. Only thing i didnt like is the fact that they took out the comment of law's nakama about almost passing out. I love that scene and thought it was really well animated.

Hakuba was unique twist on Cavendish, not Rebecca winning. Almost everyone thought that she could win, and I would hope most saw it from a half-assed plot device which also happened. Other than Cavendish's unique ability, the end result was not surprising. It's not going to be a twist if she wins the entire tournament if this happens, though I imagine if she eats the fruit then she's likely to join the SHs. I do not like when protagonists get things they didn't deserve similar to Rebecca, whether it's manga, anime or television. Those are generally the poorest episodes/chapters of the season/arc, on top of putting said character high up on the shit list. Add to it that she's stupidly naive and incredibly boring (worst flashback chapter in One Piece), and it's just yawn inducing. Though I understand there's a bunch of people that like, wonder how mad they are reading this. At least when a bad guy gets away with it, it makes you mad in a good way and makes the villain more intriguing. This was.. yawn.
I have no problem with Hakuba as a character but that he fell asleep after he took out everyone for her. Or why Cavendish's version didn't wake up. Or that he couldn't tell that she was ok and apparently thought she was KO'ed.
The anime is an awful disgrace to the series. Please don't talk about here in the manga section :( And please don't watch it and say you actually like it…

Other than a contractual agreement, or Oda not giving a shit as long as there is pile money at his doorstep on a constant basis, I do not understand why he hasn't blasted them to the media about this. One Piece and Toriko are embarrassing adaptations considering the quality of the mangas.

Well, it won't be very professional of Oda to come out and say "this anime sux".
Also consider he's one of those people that just gets joy from the fact that his creation was popular enough to warrant an adaptation. He's a humble guy, and definitely doesn't have the time to watch every episode and go over it with a fine toothed comb.

I hope I'm not the only one that's already bored of this account. The joke gets old real fast. My advice would be to make a non-joke account/return to your real account and keep that one for more appropriate circumstances. It'll be funny every now and again or when something happens that makes it relevant, but so far every post after the first one has just made me roll my eyes.

Nice tune. (dat drop at the end)
Don't misunderstand, I don't have anything against sketchy style, but here, it was out of place. It's the only time in the entire anime that they have done that. Same with that crapload of Naruto vs. Pain. Suddenly you change entire style of drawing for one fight.
For me, this
!
will always be incomparably better than this.
!
I might be overly critic toward anime direction, but I really do think they are a bunch of untalented retards. It really takes a special kind of dumb to turn Oda's material into something boring to watch.

Welp I liked both of them :p, but like mister so kindly reminded me earlier, if people still wanna discuss this, let's move it to the correct thread, hows that?

I don't see why a bad guy would be any more interesting than a good guy if the same thing happened to them. It would be equally as (in)effective to me. Yeah maybe you're supposed to be upset when they get away with it so you're lenient , but that doesn't change the method used to get that reaction. A weak character is a weak character. Cavendish not waking up however, good point, hadn't even bothered thinking about that when I responded, I just thought about Hakuba going back to "sleep". However like I said, to everyone in the story and to the reader, Rebecca LOOKED like she was unconscious. So it would make sense that he thought that she was KOed. Tbh, I don't think Rebecca's win was supposed to be surprising. It's something that needed to happen, but unfortunately, the way Oda decided to make it happen was bs in the eyes of a lot of the readers. Personally, I'm not bothered with the specific method of help Oda carried out for her, but with the fact that she needed help at all. If Oda wanted her in the Finals, I think he should have made her a stronger character. Btw, that part I bolded… if that happened, I would be VERY upset. I'm confident that it won't.

Are you trying to say that tenryuubito punch was badly done? Man, for me that was one of the best scene of entire one piece anime and believe me, I know how much it sucks nowadays, especially after timeskip (preskip was still bearable). Anyway, the first time I watched this punch scene I literally slipped off my chair and my body was shaking. I am not kidding you. That was weird as fuck because it was the only time in my life when something like this happend. It's also thanks to Oda's storytelling and tension builiding, because I hated those pricks… and when Luffy made that glare.... and that music kicked in... it was beautiful. One of the best scenes of entire anime.

Yep, Doublefinger has that jerky walking style in the manga.

Even when Luffy defeats Mohji with one punch is like 3,000,000,000,000 times better than Luffy punching that Tenryiubito. That scene sucked so hard not even Sasha grey sucks that hard.
Sabaody arc is the last story One Piece anime has done justice to.
Also, it is a very good dropping point since afterwards the series finally transitions into the unwatchable territory.
Luffy and Chinjao's clash seemed fiercer than Sabo and Burgess's.

I thought I said it directly. I can't appreciate such a moment to be that stretched and the best part of it to be a black and white sketch. It's not OP-like. Never happened before or after that. Can we expect more parts of Luffy's important fights to be animated as sketches? Maybe when he fixed Chinjao's head it will also be a sketch? I just wanted to see a full blooded face bashing, the same one Bellamy got and I saw an anemic lazy version of it. I hate it when those idiots suddenly get "ideas" and want to put in "style" into OP. In fact, that "style" is part of the answer to "Why does OP anime suck so much?"
They just need to keep it simple, the way Oda made it, with as little personal input as possible. Maybe limit it to a decent filler arc when it catches up to manga. Maybe make fillers longer than 3 episodes. I can only dream of seeing a filler as good as G8 again.

Just kidding, I love that comparison. As I said, best they could come up with is not finishing the drawing properly…

That's fair enough, different perspective for different people of course. I understand some people are not upset at how those events happened and that's also fine imo.
One thing that bothers me however is that if Rebecca wants the Mera Mera no Mi, does she plan to beat Doflamingo without injuring him? For someone whose entire style is not to injury the opponent, how will that fruit help her exactly? Does she decide that for Doflamingo specifically, she will use the fruit to hurt him and if so, wouldn't she be completely out of her comfort zone due to relying on every other style other than her own? I'm of course, discounting the idea that she is far over her head and should know that even with the fruit, she would get absolutely stomped by Doflamingo. However, it does raise some questions that I hope Oda explains in the story through her.
Luffy and Chinjao's clash seemed fiercer than Sabo and Burgess's.

Both her father and grandfather seem to object to how the colosseum works at present (and tried to either fight without hurting people, or dissuade people from participating). She doesn't like hurting people (as per her flashback), but she's a prisoner who has to fight - potentially to the death - in the tournaments. It would make perfect sense if her refusal to hurt people in the arena (well… hurt them directly; she doesn't seem to have qualms about indirect harm) is less about an absolute opposition to hurting people, and more a dislike coupled with a desire to defy those imprisoning her. In which case, a willingness to hurt Doflamingo is less of an exception, and the mera mera is an excellent complement to her style, enhancing her already-potent defense, and providing the offensive capabilities she lacks.
That doesn't mean she'll get the fruit, of course, but I could see how the plan makes sense, at least from her perspective.
Also think sabo has coc, ace had it luffy have it, would be strange if one brother dont have it.
But anyway its useless so I dont care

me too, but i guess he just meant they didnt use it

Interesting, I don't remember the part of her getting imprisoned? Did she not volunteer for the prize itself or was it written somewhere that DD put her in prison?! That actually makes more sense.
