so are we all under the impression that Kinemon and momo will become the new worlds Vivi and Carue, meaning be honorary members but not actually join the crew??
Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)

@Monkey:
None of the hard science you're trying to use here is gonna help you pull this mystery out dude.
Believe me, when a new crewmate walks on screen, you KNOW. No need for complex algorithms.
Trust your instincts.Hehehe…you caught me. I really am searching for something that gives a hint before the next nakama is blatantly official.
I didn't jump on the One Piece bandwagon until 2005 I believe and I was hooked since. I didn't start the manga until during or after the Thriller Bark saga(can't remember...been so long...2006 I believe) because for some reason the subs for the anime were getting more terrible than usual(the Skypiea arc onward at the time). Point being the anime openings sometimes give away who the next nakama was going to be and I would hear sometimes ahead of time who was next so the mystery was never there.
So my inquery is wondering how it was for manga readers who didn't have any clue since it was new at the time. A lot of these theories are hindsight which is now being applied. From what I read on this forum, it isn't that apparent to some who the next nakama will be. I recall the Franky and Paulie debates I read on other forums. I thought Paulie was cool and all but Franky did stick out like a sore thumb especially during the Enies Lobby arc. What was the first true debate on who would be the next nakama? I imagine it was during the Grand Line after Chopper.

It seems like just yesterday people were arguing over Sanji or Patty for the crew's chef…
-
PATTY?! Really? There was a REAL debate over this or are you just joking?
-

LOL, are you trolling us?
-
Jimbei didn't seem to produce that effect on many.
Thats just because people don't like his design. But it IS unique and different from everyone else in the series and very distinct, even on first viewing and you know just looking at him he's not a random temporary mook..
(And because people don't like his design… cause he's fat, they lump other preconceptions and baggage onto him. Nevermind his qualifications for crewmate were incredibly solid before he even appeared on camera, and he was pretty set within a chapter as expectation defying).
Similarly, I think the Franky/Paulie arguments would have been far less severe if Franky had been wearing pants.
-
Just a joke. The first 6 were all pretty much no brainers with no competition. I think they all even had a "Introducing ____" chapter title. Robin threw everyone for a loop. Small fanbases for Conis and Wiper. Paulie vs. Franky was the first big debate but it became fairly clear at the end of Water 7. Brook was obvious. A few people thought Camie or Margaret which began "boob campaigning." Then we got Jinbe vs. Hancock vs. Perona. Now we're at this point where any character that talks is suggested.
-
Robin threw everyone for a loop.
Because of her position, her character design should have been a huge hint of her having some sort of special importance. Oda had never, and hasn't since, drawn anyone quite like that.
Go back and see how she used to look, very unique face. He's watered her down so much over the years.Paulie vs. Franky was the first big debate but it became fairly clear at the end of Water 7. Paulie Vs. Franky is a good example of a battle between those with the instinct, and those without. As soon as Franky threw off his outfit it was pretty obvious.

Jimbe is fat? How do people know a whale is fat? What does a slim whale look like?

Go back and see how she used to look, very unique face. He's watered her down so much over the years.Yeah, reading through it the first time I'm sure a lot of people saw there was more to her than one of Croc's henchmen but nothing about her screamed crewmate.

Looking back at Water 7 it was without a doubt certain Franky would join once his beef with Usopp was resolved and he got a flashback but the unmasking to me just seemed like how Oda usually builds up his villains (Croc, Enel, Moriah, Caesar's designs aren't revealed until some hype).

So again about the Kinemon & momo thing…. honorary member like Vivi and Carue??

Depends on how powerful their bond will become.

I'm surprised with all the Zoro vc debate stuff that went on this week that the latest chapter didn't cause another tidal wave here.
Also that little interrupted conversation between Violet and Sanji. I reeeeeally hope she wasn't planning on going with them.

Am really hoping she joins but that's up to Oda.
The statement that got interrupted I thought it was going to be request to join…
-
Ha, the shitstorm that would happen if Violet joined before Jinbe
-
Ha, the shitstorm that would happen if Violet joined before Jinbe
Why should there be a shitstorm? It's only sure that Jinbe will join, not that he'll be first or last or whatever….
(but that's talking logically, so yeah, anything will cause a shitstorm :D)

Violet's powers don't really mesh with this crew. She'd be useful elsewhere. But when you have a Captain that doesn't like spoilers. She would sit around doing nothing. Robin and Brook already have the secondary abilities of spying but actual combat ontop of that.
-
The only use in her I could see would be keeping Sanji's gag in check under the pretense of being 'faithful' or something.

I think its premature to expect its a sure thing - but those vying for her should be allowed to theorise. I have a feeling that when it was mentioned that she had been spying on the SH's she saw Sanji running from the gas cloud telling the Marines he'd rather die then hit a girl. This could be why she bet on him to save her, but the fact it was Sanji who saved her and not Luffy is kinda working against her for the crew - it's always been Luffy saving the Crewmate from something for them to join.
-
Violet's not gonna join yo. Already been quashed. C'est la Nakamates.
-

Of course they can theorize. Never said otherwise. I was just stating a few reasons why I felt she wouldn't be a good candidate.

Completely agree with them too - I just think it'll be easier to allow them to theorize for a couple of chapters until we get a better feel for her - it would be a huge change in pattern for Oda to bring her in though.
-
People were bitching about Jinbe joining because he'd spoil the adventure of the NW having already been there, now we have Violet who can legit see the Future and people think it's ok because of tits?
-

She's a living and breathing X-ray scanner, of course she'll be Chopper's assistant.
-
Violet is a no.
she's a huge ass no.
Girl can see a whole island and beyond with her devil fruit, she would be WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too useful for the crew.
Like, Glaidus needs to shut her down soon for that purpose, can't you see it?
-

She sees the future?
-
Violet is better not joining with Oda being against romance especialy inside the crew, that way Sanji could finally have luck on this regard.:ninja:
-
-
-
I recall her only reading minds. reading the future is for Sharley to do.
-
The Clairvoyance aspect of her power gives her the illusion of seeing the future.
-
I have a feeling she will die though. I don't see her joining.
-
It's still pretty much anyone's game, although the possibility of no one joining this arc is entirely likely as well.
-
-
Yeah, only reason i'm confident Violet won't join is because her ability is too absurd. Every pirate crew in the world would love to have her, but she's a walking spoiler.
Although i'm curious about what she would say when they were interrupted. She's definitely gonna play an important role here.
-
The Clairvoyance aspect of her power gives her the illusion of seeing the future.
clairvoyance also indicates the ability to see really well, not only seeing the future.
in naruto for example, both the sharingan and byakugan have their abilities called as "clairvoyance" -
there is no chance of romance in the ship..seeing Violet likes Sanji(as a romantic prospect) is a big no no for nakama..
-
For those on the Momonosuke train, I'm pretty sure this chapter showed that Momonosuke doesn't really have fighting experience. For him to get very excited about landing a blow on an injured person and being praised for it doesn't seem like a character that's been involved in combat. (And I'm fairly certain that Brook was just praising a child for his accomplishments instead of actually being impressed with Momonosuke's strength).
-
It should be pretty obvious that the person who normally joins the SH's is the person who Luffy comes into contact with around the beginning of each arc.
Luffy usually takes a liking to that person as well. Not to mention that person ALWAYS has a tragic/sad past and has a flash back of their life. And most of all, that person ALWAYS fights alongside the SH's in the arc.If Luffy begins to like that person he would invite that person to join his crew.
In light of that, the person who has the most potential is, Rebecca.
One other quality is having a dream which they wish to fulfill. Unfortunately I can't think of any dream she could possibly have other than living with the toy soldier. But I must say, I have taken an interest in Violets past. Hopefully something big will come up about her. She could turn out to be more potential than, Rebecca. If that is indeed so then I wonder what the destiny of the Mera Mera No Mi is.
I'm not sure if I'm delusional or not but I slightly remember a time where Luffy said that the crew needs a dancer because Pirates like to dance. Violet is a dancer.
-
Bartolomeo will join as nakama… His job will be... Trolling the real life OP fandom
-

Well that idiotic way of acting seems to be some sort of trolling as well as putting out the idea that Zoro isn't the Vice Captain which many idiots seem to be convinced of just because he's so strong.. Now I just wonder what will happen once he gets to see the other SH's.
-
Usopp getting Barto even more and more excited with some of his excellent lies is something I need to see.

Rebecca is unlikely if she is the Heir to the throne there that Dolfy's family vacated. Luffy is more likely to get her back in charge of the Country than to take her with him - this arc is almost a write off for Joining members - if anyone from Dressrossa acompanies them to the Zo Island after this arc they may have a chance.
-
Usopp getting Barto even more and more excited with some of his excellent lies is something I need to see.
esp when compared to his lies that come true in some form. I would love to see a fanboy Barto trying to analyze what Usopp is lying about to see if something comes true

Barto just opens up so much room for comedy with every single strawhat. Having seen his in depth analysis of Zoro, I can't wait to see what he thinks of everyone else. If he finds Chopper so cute that he cries I would absolutely die laughing.
-
The two female characters we have were both "kidnapped" by their other life. Once we get a similar situation it could be possible. nobodies been introduced as such though.
-
Any dwarf joining might be contingent on how Luffy reacts when he first sees one and then all of them. Luffy has the possibility of seeing Wicca with Zoro.
Who would y'all say is the most unique dwarf so far?

Even if Barto doesn't join, I hope he hangs around, showing up now and then for some interaction . He is a goldmine for comedy, either by interaction with the SHs (by judging the posters he's a fan of entire crew) or trolling others.
