Maybe the missing D block candidate is the Barto crew mate that Maynard took out

Now I have to go, I'll fix Cavendish's sentence later!

I just thought about what buffalo said when he thought dofla would lose is shichibukai status, didnt he say they couldnt stay in dressrosa anymore or somethinglike that? http://www.batoto.net/read/_/154527/one-piece_ch697_by_mangarule/18
So what's up with that, what's the link between the shichi title and them staying in dressrosa, doesn't make sense seeing what dofla said this chapter. I don't get it but there might be something hidden here.

when the average lifespan of the humans in the OP world is 130 (average, some can live longer) all you really need is a few of those and you easily cover the time.
also as a previous commentator said he was the 12th and you only need 66 year od leaders, those who die young, replace with those who die at the intended age
Yeah with real fortune in when intermediary generations die, or else people having babies really late in life.
Also, 130 is the average lifespan? Giants live for 300 years, and three times as long as a human. There's no indication that people normally live longer in OP than they do IRL. Kureha is kind of a special person?
-
BTW
After this chapter… I'm not too sure that DoFla will go down in Dressrosa and that the main enemies for the Monster Trio will be the seats. From the start I had a hard time to believe, that Luffy simply beats Diamante and just goes on and beats DoFla... Diamante hasn't been potrayed like Blueno as simply "warm up" for Luffy. If he fights DoFla than for sure with some help by Law. But maybe DoFla will somehow leave DressRosa for some reason, and they will fight later on.
But there is so much going on in this arc, who knows if Luffy ends up fighting Diamante after all and if the tournament will go on "normally".
Not even taking Jesus into account here

So I'm not sure if this is the translation from MP or I'm just confused, but how do all 19 families go to Mariejois from different kingdoms, but are all Donquixote? And if they were all related then does that mean that Doflo is related to Alabasta royal family? Need explanation here thanks

There were 20 different dynasties, of which one was the Nefertari Dynasty (which remained in Alabasta), one was the Donquixote Dynasty, which moved from Dressrosa to Mariejois; there were also eighteen other, distinct dynasties from various locations who also moved to Mariejois. Hope that clears things up.

First of all great chapter, I am very pleased that the sunny group were able to handle their own, and the skyll joke XD classic brook <3
Now to the Dofla revelation, I have been wondering how come he had such a bad life if he had such bloodline? The only real possibility I see is him being a bastard :wassat:
Also this open the door for possibility of seeing other strong CD's or even good CD's.
BTW, I like the small interaction between the Block D fighters, Suleiman stand out between them for some reason.
-
Not sure if this was brought up or not, since I haven't read the whole thread, but if the Nefertari family is one of the founding families, that brings up the question of why they were entrusted to protect one of the poneglyphs. Perhaps they were double agents, secretly allied with the ancient kingdom?
-

The Marines and the Dressrosa inhabitants are probably not aware of Doflamingo's background. They wouldn't accept a "simple pirate" ruling Dressrosa.

Maybe some sort of deal was brokered between those of the ancient kingdom who wanted to hide their weapon for future times, and the Nefertari Dynasty. Could also explain the decision to stay in Alabasta rather than go to Mariejois?
-
My guess about that is that the Nefertarti Family was a willing participant of the 20 kingdoms… but over time they began to question the others and eventually they decided to betray them...
However I guess they had doubts too late into the war and realized that open Betrayal was not an option so they went for the sneaky route and allowed the AK to secretly build the Poneglyph in their country
-
no troll my opinion , and no i dont say that every weak
A troll does not give solid explanations for their dislike for a chapter. A troll complains about things that are an established part of the industry as a reason for their displeasure. A troll argues, just as you did, that they aren't a troll, and its their opinion. But this is completely out of context because you're posting on a site for fans of One Piece, who want to share their enjoyment and evaluation of the manga. You don't need to do both of these things, but you at least need to do one. You didn't enjoy and didn't evaluate. You just tried to put a damper on our day. P.S. I'm glad you had one or two weeks where you weren't a troll. Good job!

mhm, yea I guess I looked too much into it

I would assume that in one way or another, the Nefertari family staying in Alabasta had to do with them not wanting to associate with the other founding families, whether it be because they opposed of their actions during the void century or had some sort of hidden relation with the ancient kingdom.
EDIT:
Pretty much this:

In page 11 panel 3 the Toy Soldier is missing his line. Anyway thanks for this Tobi !
-
Dunno how I missed that line >_>
Anyway, fixed.
-
LOL Zoro going to Green Bit too to save Nami. Fujitora will face off with him just swordsman to swordsman. This will be epic.
-
The mannerisms of Cavendish's horse reminded me of Chestnut from Silver Spoon.

@indigo~ink:
RE: D and CD bloodline rivalry -
! ~wild speculation about Void Century~ feel free to delete if this is too off-topic XD
! I like the theory that the D bloodline is a remnant from the Ancient Kingdom. Like AK perhaps kept the balance of the world in check because they were so powerful, thereby protecting weaker nations/islands that couldn't otherwise fend for themselves. But 20 strong kingdoms combined were able to destroy the AK and usurp control of the world i.e. form the World Government, and those kings have ruled supreme for 800 years now. This explains why D's are considered such a threat to the World Government now, and why Gol D Roger's name was altered to Gold Roger - so the masses don't find out about the World Government's history. Perhaps the Will of D is inherited will relating to getting back the freedom of the world's people from the World Government…?This is probably a weird comment but I can't stop looking at that middle panel on the page where Doflamingo starts telling Law about the history, the line quality is so beautiful!
I like this theory. It also makes be think more that Montblanc Norland was actually Norlan D Montblanc. It's a theory I've carried for a little while, but I only thought I would mention it now…...........
-
Wait. That horse's name is Fahrvernugen?!?! (or whatever it is, German words are a pain to write) I don't think I remember seeing that horse in Pinky & the Brain….. Pinky & the Brain... 1 is a genius, the other......... and now the song is stuck in my head...
Haha I remember that horse! She was Pinky's girlfriend. Her name was pronounced Fahrvernugen or something.

So the World Nobles are the product of the interbreeding between the 19 original families? Why is Doflo the only World Novle we've seen so far that hasn't had the helmet on? And do you think that the World Nobles look down on the Befertari Dynasty for staying? Also was Doflo holding Law's heart? Very confusing chapter lol

Just re-read it slowly lol

Dofla is speculated to be somewhat of an outcast and different than the other World Nobles as he's a pirate and used to have a bounty and nobody addresses him like they do the other nobles. Dofla got back Caesar's heart from Law at the end.
-
Wow what a chapter. I tried reading all of the spoiler thread as well as this one. I suppose everything has been said but again wow.

Nope, remember his descendant Montblanc Cricket?
The Montblanc is the family name, while Norland & Cricket are the given names.X__X just because there is a D at the end or beginning of a name doesn't mean the character has the Will of D

@.access:
Loved the chapter <3
Finally some WG background, that enough is worth many chapters. But also Cavendish!!! DAMN! So glad the spoilers were wrong here. I feel a bit mad for Jora (I know you all hate this discussion, and I usually don't bring it up even though it bothers me, but it annoys me how woman can't be hurt in OP, but ugly woman =/= woman), but seeing Cavendish treating Rebecca as an equal evens it for me, so way to go Oda.
And we had Doffy, I could have a chapter with only shots of his smile and still love it.
About the whole Alabasta discussion. Damn, Kureha is 141 years old and obviously will live much longer. This is not real life, for Christ sake.
The one missing in D is most likely Gambia, that guy from Barto's crew Maynard defeated.
Each group is supposed to have 138 participants. Gambia was around when Block B was about to start, so we know he is not from A.
B was missing one participant, and we know it was Maynard. C had all the 138. He could only be the one missing from Block D.I think the participant that left is cavendish horse
-
@O:
I think the participant that left is cavendish horse
Could be Spartan, maybe.

Not necessarily interbreeding, but certainly their offspring. So other people could probably marry in too.
As for the rest, we can only speculate :)
-
Nice chapter.
It was amusing how Brook connected to Jora by way of them both being "artists"
Also, Jora's "human art" eventually dies and becomes normal art. That makes her ability all the more dangerous.
I really love that scene "oh, my bow to play my violin is also a sword" "Neat" "I cut you already" "huh?"
Caverndish ain't such a bad guy after all.
Trebol, Pica, and Diamante seem to be the strongest people in Doflamingo's crew.
I'm glad that its finally confirmed that Doflamingo is a Celestial Dragon. I was tired of seeing all the people saying "no he's not" -
Eh apparently I do need to mention…because you know, you're wrong about something...and its a forum of discussion.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Well apparently i need to mention you to read messages proberly then. I didnt say it was his WHOLE motive to idolise him. In my –>example<-- i said it might be mostly the reason why he like Luffy so much. Seriously?! How i could miss that miracle when i was talking about the whole subject itself.
Homewer, it's true i should have mentioned it, even it was obvious. And one thing about your last message: With all the respect, don't play smartass and go to offtopic like that. That wasn't necessarily post at all. This wasn't either, but you made me mention certain thing
-
so the way i got it is that 800 years ago donquixote family ruled dressrosa but it departed for holy land mariejois to became the CD.. and then new kings were selected and riku were the chosen ones and now doflamingo is just back for what is his to begin with..?
that my boy don't fu*king lose to anyone.. :p
-
It was never his since his family left the island without a replacement, without any right to return or he would have taken it without blaming the "current" royal family for the burnings. Leaving a country alone for 800 years, letting it be ruled for 98% of it's existence, takes away all rights, "entitled" or not.
-
Jolly Jumper, but it could also work for one of those disney horses with it's the anthropomorphic appearance.
-

Thanks.
Something I remember wasn't Jora mission was also to take Momonosuke besides attacking the Sunny yet it was about to kill him? -
I think Luffy is going to team up with barto and cabbage at some point, so we have another trio like Kid, Law and Luffy trio and Luffy, Zoro and Sanji trio.
Elaboration:
Luffy, Zoro and Sanji trio(Monster trio): Zoro is wild and badass, Sanji is smart and chivalrous. Luffy complements them being dumb and funny.Kid, Law and Luffy trio: future top 3 competitors for pirate king. Kid is arrogant and reckless(represents brawn), Law is calculating and manipulative(represents brain) and Luffy is friendly, brave and charismatic(represents heart).
Luffy, Barto and Cavendish trio: Cavendish dies for public attention, Bartolomeo pisses off public and Luffy does not care for attention.
-
So Dofla is a celestial dragon after all… mindblow
-
So, people are still talking Cobra and the whole king thing not making sense, when compared to the time period etc.
And they are talking about this in a world where we meet ~140 year old people, like Kureha. -
I find it weird that acilia doesn't appear on this page with the rest, maybe she was the one who defaulted?
Also, what does the hmm? panel means? Seems like luffy heard someone. Bellamy? acilia if above is true? someone else?
-
… ? Yes? But that's not how you count rulers ... It's a moot point; there cannot have been 12 generations of a family in 900 years. That would suggest each generation was born while their father was in their late 70s. See how that's very strange?
Oh, ok I was kinda confusing myself. Yeah that is strange.
-

Wouldn't that be Maynard? The one who didn't appear. Or was he mentioned to be in some of the other blocks?
-
I want to make fun of Cabbage's title being based solely on him owning a horse but then again Luffy's is based on having a hat…
-
Wouldn't that be Maynard? The one who didn't appear. Or was he mentioned to be in some of the other blocks?
From the looks of it Spartan was in A, Maynard in B (confirmed) and Ganbia should be the one that is out here.
Though I found Acilia missing odd too, but she wasn't the only one not showed there. Meadows & the Fighting Lion aren't there too. Maybe it is, because they're all colosseum veterans or something.
I noticed Luffy's "Hmmm?" as well, but I guess it was meant, because the audience was suddenly silent.
-
@Aru:

And they are talking about this in a world where we meet ~140 year old people, like Kureha.I know, clearly there is a 140 year age gap between Cobra and his heir Vivi.
-
This arc is at a high point right now! I love how this chapter was just characters having awesome moments.
I want to see how Brooke and the Sunny Crew save Law now. Jora led them to Green Bit, but how will they get away from an admiral and a shichiubkai? Will Zoro, Sanji, and Kinemon make it in time to help? Also, I wanted to see more fighting in Block D, but for once I'm not disappointed by that. Things are going to start getting crazy soon.
Also, anyone else confused over where Luffy is watching the fight from? Apparently this prison has a window that he can see the fight from. Weird.
-
So a few years back, DD wanted to get back Dressrosa because it belongs to his family and he wants some place to rule.
He uses his devil fruit to force Riku king into burning his own country.
And he gains legitimacy among citizens by being the savior of the king's foolishness which he controls.
This should summarizes DD "Coup d'etat" in Dressrosa.oh right, i forgot he had the power to control people's bodies. DOI. Riku was probably a poor country from outside influence too. DD probably manipulated so the country be poor as f*** and then come swoop in for the kill.
-
Wouldn't that be Maynard? The one who didn't appear. Or was he mentioned to be in some of the other blocks?
luffy is 556#
556/4 blocks= 139 fightersC block had 139 fighters but B and D block were said to have 138, A probably had 139 too. 2 people are missing there. Spartan was introduced before block A so he could be from that block, that leaves gambia and maynard (introduced after A block) to be the 139th fighters of B and D block.
Now D block number of contestants has decreased to 137 andAcilia, unlike the rest of the fighters, is nowhere to be seen (fighting lion aside).forgot about meadows, so it's between him and acilia (I doubt the lion has defaulted lol)All in all, it's would be very weird (or inconsistent) for maynard to get a "one fighter has defaulted" message when gambia and spartan don't get one. So it must mean someone else has defaulted.
-
This is one of the reasons why Brook is my favorite crew member.
Also Maynard was in B Block.
-
My 2 cent
The admiral has a sword, zoro is on his way to green bit so it seems like a big fight coming for zoro
Loved luffys comment 'but i still hate you'
Doffy a CD not a big suprise
