Naruto sells are pretty much intact from the sales listing i get from Oricon for the past five years...6M+...this year it will reach the mark too(2.9M in half year's estimation)...

They're both terribly written. Bleach is more pretentious and slow and empty. However I can never can register an emotional bleep with Bleach other than boredom. Kubo Titie's pretentious attempts at depth have just gotten tiring at this point. Fairy Tail however can still piss me off as the last chapter proved with Mashima attempting a female empowerment theme with female characters who've amounted to nothing but sex dolls. Fairy Tail tries to be more ambitious with the most cheesy, bland immature writing I've ever seen and for me that's way worse than Kubo's pretentious drawing air bullshit which is at least laughable at how pretentious it is. Fairy Tail actively hurts you with how bad the writing is.

Theres just something fascinating about seeing how next Kubo will destroy one of the foundations of his mythology, discard characters or plotlines, or assasinate old messages and relationships. Fairy Tail is groan inducing at every turn, and not worth the paper its printed on, but its too unambitious and paint-by-numbers to ever produce something as complete a spectacular failure as the fullbring arc.

Bleach has worse writing but it's so consistently contradictory and nonsensical that you just take it for granted and it becomes hard to care about it. Fairy Tail goes to the trouble of setting up all these promising premises and consistently ravishing them with its extremely cheesy, hamfisted, unintelligent writing.

To put it another way, with Bleach it's badness is like a big mess you can't really identify, dumb contradictions constantly happen and it just coalesces all together into a who cares, none of it makes any sense, it's just a big blob of meh. Fairy Tail, you can pinpoint the awful because its structured better and it hurts, the cheesy bullshit of it just hurts.

it is just that the manga is nearing it's end,not many new people are taking it up...but new volume sales remain more or less same...so old readers haven't left it unlike Bleach..

Showing all the spectrum of fans/reader that spend money in a title in a given time is always informative, in the end what really matters is the Total number of copies sold a year, more than the, supposedly, number of fans that buy individual volumes. The reason I didn't put the volumes was because I was responding to auem, that said that Naruto was every year stable with 6M+ and 2.9M first halves. The first half, is there more to give information about that year, not so much to be seen independently(and to show auem that he was wrong).

From 2010 to 2011 Naruto decreased both in current and newer readers(fans?) while from 2012 to 2011 both increased, but it was published one less volume released (anybody knows why?) .

much better.. and see, the numbers were pretty much the same and 2012's numbers are almost the same with 2010.. looking at latest volumes sales is easier and clearer..you see it for yourself like different number of new volumes sold in different year, stuff like this can actually make us confuse.. but when we actually investigate it one by one, we can have different result and i think it is a much better result and conclusion..
and try to add whena volume was released when researching he first half of year sales.. sometimes we have 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 volumw in the first half of year.. so if we just take the whole numbers as a face value, its not really correct..

i've seen somebody at Narutoforums doing the same thing with Bleach and actually the numbers too are pretty much stable and not really declining like most people that are not Bleach fans claimed.. a little differences maybe but yeah..

Showing all the spectrum of fans/reader that spend money in a title in a given time is always informative, in the end what really matters is the Total number of copies sold a year, more than the, supposedly, number of fans that buy individual volumes. The reason I didn't put the volumes was because I was responding to auem, that said that Naruto was every year stable with 6M+ and 2.9M first halves. The first half, is there more to give information about that year, not so much to be seen independently(and to show auem that he was wrong).

Below is a more detailed view of Naruto sales, since 2010.

your data actually support me…it is showing around 10% fluctuation in current and previous volume sales...one year decreasing,in another increasing...that means 90% readers stayed with it from 2010-2011 in your logic...
also if i remember correctly same happened in 2008 and 2009...one year it decreased,another year it increased.....so one inference that can be drawn is those fans who failed to buy a new volume in the previous year,caught up in the next year...

Its entering the final stages of the story arc - but its far from being over, at least a few more years yet - based on the story we've got left i.e all the major battles, other story and history that needs to be revealed etc

I would consider One Piece and Naruto on par at the very, very beginning. Both had promising interesting characters and setting, however, whereas One Piece either maintained its quality or got even better, Naruto just slowly decreased its quality. Part 1 still may be an overall good and enjoyable manga, but even back then it crystallises out that the storytelling and world building gets worse over the time as for example seen with how Kishi handled Otogakure. I enjoyed also the earlier arcs of part 2 like the Gaara retrieval (back then where an actual life still was worth anything) or the Kakuzu arc.

By the way, I remember that picture where Thatch talks to Blackbeard just like Itachi talked to Sasuke just before dying (again), but can't find it any more.

It's also worth noting that One Piece has built itself up more slowly and surely than Naruto did. Which resulted in some blander earlier arcs that have overtime paid off and made One Piece all the better for it.
Volume 5 of both mangas.
Volume 5 of Naruto was like a huge blowout of exciting new characters and sights and sounds and potentials.
Volume 5 of One Piece got them Merry, Usopp and introduced Sanji. But the OP world was still really small.
It took till Volume 25 to really get a fuller sense of the wider politics of the OP world.
But it's all a better pay off.
