@CaptainAppleJack:
Nah, who wants to see that fight? I mean, we already know that the only looser here can be Law, so it would also be boring according to your logic.
Except that fight would be .. what's the word I'm looking for, oh yes interesting.
Yeah, because we know Luffy wins, it is boring to get juicy information about the Level 6 escapees, good characterisation for characters that will reappear like Sai or Chinjao and a comedic gold moment with Jean Ango. Well, maybe it would be more interesting, if it wasn't in this shitty tournament! Or if it would have Law, Doflamingo, Kaido, Zoro, Ace, Sabo and Blackbeard in it!
It is boring. The pieces of information we get here and there could be gotten either way with other things happening like Level 6 prisoners, they could have heard someone talking about it on the street or a DD crewmember could say it to one of the Strawhats when they are fighting etc.. You make it sound like we wouldn't have any other means of hearing this type of information, which is laughably exaggerated.
Yeah, because showing the preliminaries but skip the stuff further on, would actually make sense any way. Oh, and these fights obviously would give the tournament a reason to be, yes! Not the prize, the (re)introduction of characters, great world building or the trap that Doflamingo set up with it.
That undertone…
Sorry, but I'll also had to say it one time.
You do realize they can still show the trap, right? I'm just saying adding some of these characters would have helped if there were less of them at once and each would get a nice introduction rather than a single fact or quirk and then we skip to the next guy. How many people actually remember the names of all the contestants shown so far, because the only ones I can even remember excluding the major ones is at about 4-5 at the moment. You can understand the undertone how you wish, I can see others enjoy this chapter since there has yet to be a chapter which a lot of people in here won't love, I just find it incredibly boring and a waste of time. Next week's certainly looks more interesting. Even some of the fights with the fodder I can't care to remember would be more interesting if they were longer, but there is no time to really care for any fight or fighter that isn't a main one because everything is shown in a few panels and then we go elsewhere.. Ohh yes but world building!!
No one can do that like Oda but is it executed well here? No, it's the complete opposite.
This reminds me of two week's ago where that youtube reviewer made a video about the other chapter being boring, and everyone started video responses starting with "I am butthurt your taste is not the same as mine, don't ever criticize Goda!"
