Bellamy seems to be on a road of redemption. If anything, I now see Bartolomeo as a tool to hype Bellemy. Also, Oda already gave Tashigi a dismal performance in PH. I don't think he'll be doing the same thing with another female character for this Arc.

If you analyze the narrative, it makes more sense for Barto and Caven to advance because both Becky and Belly have a connection with Dofla, so the odds of them getting new development and roles is high if they actually lose. Contrast with Barto and Caven, who are there mostly for the tournament. If they lose now, then the whole thing with Maynard getting owned and Caven's grudge against the Worst Generation all go to waste, because those 2 don't get to justify them.

2 chapters ago everyone was loving the Kanokuni gang. Myself included. Well, there you have them!
And also the Funk brothers, who got quite a lot of exposition.

Kind of a lackluster chapter in that all it did was show the rosters of marginally important fighters in the last 3 blocks and give Luffy and Bellamy some interaction. I kind of like his character development. Yeah, he might not be the complete wad that we used to love to hate, but he only got that way after getting some major comeuppance.
At least the fifty new characters will translate well to anime pacing.

Some people already mentioned Bartolomeo reminded them of Kid, but I think he is TOO MUCH like him, don't you? Similar cruelty, similar looks… He may be a relative or a fan, what do you think?

Bellamy and Rebecca both have a purpose in the tournament other than getting the Flame Flame Fruit and cause havoc. I don't know why in the world that makes them unlikelier to get through, when compared to Bartolomeo and Cavendish, whose goal doesn't even tie into the story other than "I want this fruit and go crazy with it".

Look at "Rolling Logan" in both pages. The upper page is from mangastream, the bottom page is from mangarule. I'm quite confused. In Stream and Panda's scanlation, the "Rolling Logan" in the background is clearly an /L/, while in Rule's version it looks like an /R/ or some other letter. Why is that?

I notice that all three of them are in the same block. Sai, Boo and Chinjao. Think we'll see similar to the army teaming up at end of this chapter when that block starts. Like all three will work together to clear teh board and then all 3 take on Lucy.

The loss of his crew could be inputed to the travel towards Skypea, Gan Fall did say the other path to Skypea was a merciless one after all, or they just bailed out at some point.

I don't know why everyone's bitching about Barto's bounty being so low. Luffy was taking out Shichibukai at 30 million. What's more, the Shichibukai he took out was only 81 million, and we all know that Crocoboy's worth at least 5 times that. Bounties are crazy, basically, they've truly skyrocketed since the start of the series. Brandnew does a shxt job, because they're getting in pirates with under 100 mill. bounties as Shichibukai, who are clearly more of a threat to society than some punk like Bellamy, hence why they got the job and he didn't (and he would blatantly take such a position so that he could bum DoFla all the more). Meanwhile, Robin, the girl who could single-handedly crush the world, is again under 100 mill.
Frankly, given some bounties we've seen of late (prime example: Caribou bros.), I'm glad to see Barto with a more understandable bounty. He's been on the sea for 1 year, can crunch a VA, but is still just a youth in the game. That sounds like a 150 mill. bounty to me.
Back to the chapter, Bellamy's looking like a don nowadays. Whatever happens is block B, it's gonna' be a madness. Could they pair up and stirke a deal over the DF? Will they just tear each other to shreds? I'd probably prefer that, because I'd like to see some NW Bellamy moves against a strong chap.
Luffy's gonna' cain it, Cavendish's gonna' cain it. I'm unsure of what the result will be in group B.
I personally believe Bellamy's crew left him when they found out Bellamy wanted to go to Skypiea. They're probably the Sarquiss Pirates now :L

I liked the scene with Bellamy. Kind of. I liked that he learned his lesson, but it does seem like a big turn around for his character_._ We know everyone on Skypeia is ok, so that little bit of posturing was nice.
I liked the titular moment, but still. I don't like they Oda is seemingly trying to make us like this asshole. That said, he and Luffy need to fight again, so I'll be pissed if the Rookie guy wins.
As for everything else in this chapter…
My thoughts on this whole thing are well documented. No need to go through them all again. Needless to say, this chapter did not help my reservations.
My issue with Bellamy beating the Rookie would be his rise to power. If he can beat someone who can beat a weak Vice Admiral easy, this guy was a pathetic joke when he fought Luffy, so his rise in power would be even greater than Luffy's or Zoro's lets say despite them still being stronger (since when they met, both were considerably stronger).
I'm liking a lot this arc so far. So many things going on and so many characters that it's impossible to predict what's going to happen.
I wish Oda manages all the events in a proper maner and doesnt let so many loopholes as in Punk-Hazard.
Bellamy tried to pull the Crocodile card and act cool about the previous events but I still dont like the guy very much.

Pretty crap chapter. Almost nothing happened even though it focused on one story. Interesting to see pretty boy and Rebecca in the same group, Luffy seems to have it easy then, all fodder against him unless there's a surprise. Would be interesting if he haki KOs everyone and the fight is over in the first second. :P
Both Aokiji and now Bellamy are talking about something big happening soon, I wonder how big of an impact Law messing up with Dofla's plans will have on the New World. The way he was talking you would think he has a good chance vs Barto… Should be interesting.
I'm sorry but I just had to reply to this. You don't really expect every chapter to have something "important" happen all the damn time don't you. Plus how can you say nothing important happens when we've just seen character progression for a character and also possibly got some hints that a new character is not what he seems to be.
Reading bits of a story weekly should at least tell you that not everything will be exciting super revelations all the god damn time. What would have happened for you to deem the chapter as not crap and something happening?
