This is nitpicking or maybe just being blunt…...but those glasses kitsune? Go for a rectangular frame already.
-
But not like these lol.
@Monkey:
I broke my driving glasses recently, and my eye place gave me this awful thick rimmed hipster glasses as temporary replacements so I can get to school without dying in a fiery wreck.
[hide]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/Demescus/ArcSoft_Image20_zpsf6b190d4.jpg[/hide]I have bizarre scabs where these fuckers were now. I barely even wore them.
-
When I take my glasses off, I realize that I have really really tiny eyes
-
I just look awful in glasses so I don't wear them.
-
My glasses are, like, super old, lol. I can't afford a new prescription until 2037.
I've never been a fan of square frames though… :\

I was talking to a dude from Texas the other day who said that taking off your shoes when entering someone's house there is considered rude.

The general gist I've gotten is that East Asia is super strict about shoes indoors, Western Europe/North America is moderate about it, and Cyprus straight don't give a shit.
It's definitely not normal to go traipsing around someones house in your shoes where I live, people have rugs and shit. That's rude. But like it's not sooo rude that it would cause heart attacks like in East Asia.
I have a feeling this is how basic America suburbia is, and that the Texas dude you know probably lives out in more rural areas where shit is outdoorsy to begin with.Cyprus though? lol, Chrissie's family was all "wtf are you doing lol" when I removed my shoes when I first came in her house And they darn well lived in the city.
I felt very Japanese at that moment. -
It all depends on if you have a nice carpet/rug or have wooden floors in most cases.

I felt very Japanese at that moment.Well he's from some suburb of Dallas so its an in between thing.
I think Texas is a little different. According to him there's always dust everywhere, so it gets in your house no matter what you do. And not much snow or rain either so tracking mud in is not a big problem.
He compared taking off your shoes to taking off your shirt, it just seems so strange to me.And yeah here is the same, kinda lax but still rude, even if there are no carpets.
-
I don't know if it's rude or anything people just don't do it here oO Like, no one has ever tried so it's not like people actually think "oh, don't do that, it's rude because I have carpets etc.".
adds to notebook of fun little differences
-
I never knew there were social customs involving wearing/not wearing shoes indoors. Where I am it's never brought up, and AFAIK no one minds either way. (most of the people i know, myself included, don't wear shoes indoors, though)
-
I pretty much hate wearing shoes anyway, I'd take them off indoors even if I didn't have to (unless it was really REALLY dirty or something).

Dust everywhere? Yeah, none of that up here lol. Dallas is located up around Oklahoma, probably a prairie environment, dry and dusty.
We don't have crazy sediment everywhere, and plenty of wetness. -

I'd throw you out the very instant you attempt to walk farther than the front door wearing shoes without someone's special permission. Finns are probably even stricter about this than the Japanese are. I feel like a lowly worm every time I run back to get something I forgot and don't take my shoes off. It's just dirty.
-
Yeah you'd make an enemy for life brazenly going in to someone's house with your shoes on
If you must for any reason then you'd better apologize profusely all the way in and back

Cyrpus is like Dallas, dusty and dry.
Not everyone lives in muddy forests like us. -

My feelings exactly. It infuriates me that one of my roommates has a habit of going to the bathroom with her shoes on and since the floor there is often wet, there are brown muddy blotches everywhere. '-_-
So, now that I have my friend's Canon 1100D on loan in order to practice image processing I've been going off to have photo shoots. While taking allegedly artsy pictures of dead flowers and foamy rapids we also take paparazzi shots of each other with my fellow photographers. Here are some taken of me yesterday.

It depends on the household really. We personally have the doors and windows open almost the entire day so it doesn't really matter. Even in winter too. Super dusty in Cyprus due to the wind coming from Egypt usually. We currently have wide open the entrance door, the kitchen door, a small window and a big window downstairs. Upstairs most of the bedroom windows are prolly open too.
It's considered inhospitable and very rude to force my guests to take off their shoes because they might be dirty anyways. We don't wear shoes in the bedrooms, but when we are just coming in and out of the rest of house, who cares? We mop and dust daily so there's no point to worry about trivial things like that. Imagine feeling terrible just because I didn't have the time to take off my shoes in my own house. That sounds masochistic to me. :C Plus for the society here, it's normal to have friends or family over daily as well as big-ass parties about every other occasion. Zeph saw how it was. He even complained about how noisy it was and how we had no privacy! We'd need to buy an entire shoe store to provide slippers for every other person that comes in daily Today as a Saturday things were calm and we only had…6 guests drop by till now and it's still early. There are days over 20 people come and go, something that's pretty normal. I suppose if we were a family that had its doors shut to visitors (like one of my aunts) we'd have a similar habit with you guys. But alas we don't!
-
my mother used to hold a pretty strong japanese home but it loosened up considerably around the time i was 9 (she was a really relaxed person and it was more habit than anything it seemed) and my dad wasn't doing overseas work for months on end and then I got into bad habits that never left me ever
A part of me still feels silly when I think about how disgusting i find it wearing my sandals in my room but I know it's too late to stop now
it's toooo laaaaate to chaaaaange
-
Why would you need to provide slippers? That's what socks are for
Slippers are all greek to me:ninja:

filthy swedish sweaty sock feet get out of my house
We need two additional layers at all times between you and my floor
-
Ewww :U Soooocks! The moment shoes are off me, socks gotta go too. Worst habit ever imo? Sleeping with socks.
-
I always sleep with my socks on during the winter. For that extra cozyness
Unless you meant have sex with your socks
-
I find sleeping in socks to be uncomfortable, for some reason. I've done it occasionally, when it's particularly cold and I need the warmth more than I mind the discomfort, but in general, no thank you.
Although I don't think I've ever heard of someone just having something against going about in stocking feet, like Chrissie seems to.
-
I hate socks. Once my shoes are off I need to go wash the grime off my feet, and staying in socks makes my toes feel super icky.
-

Yes, when it's like 20 degrees outside, I'm wearing socks because I actually won't sweat in them, because it's fucking cold LOL.

Well dirty socks, yeah, sure, of course. (Or socks when your feet are dirty, but that really sort of amounts to the same thing, I think). But I mean, talking just about socks in general? I don't know, when I have a day when I have nothing at all to do and can just laze about the house, I'll pull on a fresh pair of socks in the morning, and never put on shoes at all. It seems weird to me that some of you seem like you'd rather just go around bare-foot. Socks are so comfortable!
-
But your feet need to breeeeeeeathe! It'll get all humid and gross through the day.

Come to maryland during december-february. Seriously I'll take you to DC and shit. But what you will learn is, it's so cold and dry during this time of the year, you'll wake up with dry mouth breathing through your goddamn nose LOL

Thank you. But I hate the material of socks too :( So scratchyyyyy
