Pretty much. At this point i think it's clear that the NW is not that bad a place if you intend to lay relatively low and not cause too much trouble/bring too much attention to yourself. Hey may not be a rookie in terms of time spent in the NW, but he is almost certainly comparable to a rookie in terms of achievements.
Regardless, he's a 280m bounty with no DF abilities, only his own skills.
I doubt he's a pushover like the original poster above suggested, simply on the basis of him being relatively new to NW.

I'm deeply sorry Aohige-san
…......... you're not supposed to apologize to a PENIS JOKE..
@Devil:
Bellamy beating Luffy? Uhhhh…..Nope
You know it'll happen.
But seriously: I like Bellamy and hope he shows off some cool attacks, instead of just getting OHKO'd again.
You saw how Oda put Abdullah as a terrorist with a wrap on his head… But i hope he names one Ibrahim, even if its a terrorist XD
You have it backwards.
Jeet is the one with the turban, just like Tiger Jeet. Abdullah is the one with three-line scar on his forhead, just like Abdullah the butcher.
…......... you're not supposed to apologize to a PENIS JOKE..
…...... My english sucks... Don't get the joke... but whatever
I have an inkling that Rebecca is called the "undefeated woman" because she's never actually had the chance to compete in the Colosseum, despite wanting to and being capable of it. She's technically undefeated, but she's never won, either. The only other possibility that strikes me is that the competitions are divided along gender lines and she's the only female who signs up, making her undefeated without a single victory.
@Monkey:
3 years ago he was a Rookie….then a year later Luffy was a rookie.
Both are not rookies anymore unless you randomly think he has been sitting on his ass for three years.
I believe he is still a rookie look at his bounty he did nothing major in NW, Luffy , KId , Low and the others made a name for themselves the only thing he good at is to be a womanizer guy and be the hot topic
@Panda:
Not to address anything else you took issue with, but isn't this the entire point of the tournament? Or, at any rate, of Ace's fruit being the prize. Yes, it's a horrible time for Luffy to get involved in something like this, because he is supposed to be part of a plan that is supposedly extremely time sensitive. That's exactly why Doflamingo made the prize what he did, in order to lure Luffy out and distract him, interfering with the alliance against him.
Like I said, I won't argue the matter of pacing or anything like that, since it's more an issue of personal taste. But story wise, having this tournament at such a 'bad' time is the entire point, and makes perfect sense from that angle.
My only issue with that is: how did Doflamingo know Luffy would learn about the tournament and the prize? Registration started before they even landed. Luffy barely made it in time. Doflamingo would have had to know what Law's plan is (thus they're all screwed) knew that Luffy would be on the ground team in Dressrosa, knew that Luffy would hunt down one of his guys who would then tell Luffy everything he knows, and knew Luffy would make it in time.
That is a whole lot of luck riding on a distraction plan, and if Doflamingo saw all that coming then the dude is a freaking genius beyond anything we've seen, and he has the best luck in the entirety of the One-Piece universe.
Luffy ending up in this tournament is just a coincidence. True, it's probably what Doflamingo originally wanted when he was going to tell Luffy about the fruit, but as far as Doflamingo knows, Luffy has no idea.
Am I the only one that thinks that Cavandish or whatever and Bellamy will be be in the same group?
I think them three will be the last ones standing and that's when Luffy's identity will be revealed.
I say this because Barto Romeo (I'll call him this until his name is fully revealed) and Rebecca need be showcased. Rebecca can't lose in the first round because she's going to be a part of the bigger plot (vs. Doflamingo) and Barto Romeo is a promising rookie. Bellamy and Cavandish will be used to reveal Lucy as Luffy. Bellamy reveals and another one shot. Cavandish will get burned up and will want to take revenge upon Luffy but will lose.
A: Jesus
B: Barto
C: Lucy
D: Becky
We need a logia and another girl in the crew, so Rebecca for nakama and the mera mera no mi I guess :wub:

You have to consider he has no DF, though.
He has the highest confirmed bounty so far of all non-DF users.
Amazing chapter… and lot's of funny moments too
The chinjao family have tattoos 13 and 12 visible and it's not their numbers, just like the guy on the cover page has 18, and he is from Kaido's crew, could be a connection
Lot's of cool characters except for Cavedish, no one puts this much effort into canon fodder except for Oda
Bellamy is back, hope he does more then get KO'd again :)
Kyros and Rebeca intrigue me, hope we see more of / about them
and DAT ending ... Jesus Christ Burgess!
You have it backwards.
Jeet is the one with the turban, just like Tiger Jeet. Abdullah is the one with three-line scar on his forhead, just like Abdullah the butcher.
Also to add to this, Tiger Jeet Singh is Indian and his character is a bloodthristy psycopath rather then a terrorist.
To clarify,
Ohh I see, Oda with his crazy references xD
…...... My english sucks... Don't get the joke... but whatever
Ich fühle mit dir! :p
I am with you or so!
I'm also just saying this to show off I'm a big wrestling nerd, but the real Abdullah's forehead is a whole lot more nasty than that One Piece guy. It's so horrifically scared, he can put casino chips inbetween the ridges of scar tissue.
Again, not really important, just some trivia.
Great chapter.
Gladiator Lucy looks so badass. It's a shame he had to remove the armor.
I want Sanji to do a reverse Parage shoot on Cavendish.
Looking forward to seeing how strong is Romeo.
@Monkey:
Everyone knows him, they just never found out his real identity. You're following the wrong mystery here.
Nobody knows him http://www.batoto.net/read/_/163966/one-piece_ch704_by_mangarule/15
"Neither the elderly nor any of the Gladiators has ever met him….whether he existed or was mere contrivance...statue suddenly appeared one day..."
It's not the gladiator's identity that's a mystery. It's the gladiator himself.
@Monkey:
I can't remotely follow your train of logic here.
A famous gladiator from 20 years ago retired….and it was suspicious (though it wasn't)...and uh they (who are they?) had to wait or else...to make a statue...so Donflamingo has something to do with this somehow.
What?
That's because you're not trying to follow my train of logic. Both the existence of this gladiator and appearance of the statue are dubious as stated by Rebecca, not me. I assume that the statue was erected sometime after the gladiator retired. If it was erected immediately then people would surely recognize and remember the man if he existed and if he didn't exist they would immediately call foul. Time changes things though so I assume that it was put up within the past decade. Since we know Mingo has has had his warlord title for ten years going by my assumption the erection of the statue falls into that time frame. I don't know how long Mingo has been king of Dressrosa but this isn't me solidly laying out the future of the arc and predicting Oda's every move…it's just a fucking theory.
@Monkey:
Oda has deliberately designed the island to be large and made sure to mention to us this was just the Port City. He wouldn't do that if he was going to have everything take place in one port city lol (aside from Green Bit).
Even if you still think the Smile Factory is in Acacia, thinking we won't see other cities is pretty insane.
Someone has already pointed out that if sanji takes up this woman on his offer he'll be heading off to another city. The Sunny crew will probably end up somewhere other than Sunny/Acacia/Green Bit as well. It may not even be the smile factory that the statue is hiding. It might be the samurai. But the statue is definitely suspect and I think enough questions have been raised around it by Rebecca to suspect it's there to hide something and if it's not hiding SMILE or the samurai then what else could be relevant to the arc. Maybe a poneglyph? I dunno that's taking it too far so I'm just going to go with SMILE or the Samurai.
One thing that irks me about his lineup for the tourney is that I'd love to see some faces from the allies of WB that was shown at the Paramount War. Just one or two from then would be fine. I mean they are captains in the New World, I'd really love to see any of them soon. Esp. since one or two may feel like Luffy and not want the Mera Mera no Mi go to just anyone. I figure Doflo would make sure some would not come though, he is a guy that likes to be in control of the events. IF he does have a big crew like Whitebeard did, then they would be shown same as the WB crew= emphasis on the bigshots and lesser crewmembers being nameless and showing up as background characters. I mean WB had 1,600 men on his crew and we know only 17 names in canon (16 commanders + Teach).
Yes, that sounds right. Remember, this is not just a tournament. This whole gladiator thing is part of Dofla's plan. I also believe that this is not just about Luffy. I think the tournament and the prize was only advertised around Dressrosa so Dofla could control the fights. Do you realized that the countries nearby probably sent their most powerful warriors to fight? Maybe there is some plan of the DD family around this, but I'm not sure. Maybe Jesus B. is there because Dofla knows that BB played a big role in Ace's death and want to use this against Luffy so he told BB's crew about the tournament and that's why Jesus got in time to fight. Or mabe BB's crew are hunting for fruits and someone told them about the tournament.
You have to consider he has no DF, though.
He has the highest confirmed bounty so far of all non-DF users.
According to my reading skills, his 280 million bounty was his bounty from 3 years ago, so we really do not know his bounty now, or did I misread it. So his bounty looking like a rookie bounty was right as it was 3 years old.
To clarify,
Nice btw Singh is a common name in India means master or something like that
Jeet = Victory, Singh = Lion
This chapter was all sorts of awesome! I'm loving all the new characters, as well as the old ones! I'll be honest though, despite J.B. making short work of his opponents, I would just love to see the guy get curbstomped by Lucy. I know since he's a BB member that probably won't happen, I just never liked him. He's just a loud blowhard…from Jaya to now, he's still annoying. But I'll say this much...he'll get defeated sooner or later, and seeing his "champion" bravado shattered will be very satisfying. XD
@Monkey:

I believe what he means is that Cavendish got to NW three years ago with a bounty of 280 and it didn't changed since then. So, even if he is not a newcomer, he is still a "rookie" because he didn't really acheived a lot after making it there.
And I kinda think he is right. He will probably be really strong since his bounty is that high. But inside the NW, where everyone is a monster, he will probably be on the lower tier.

I could see him as being a good swordsman who can't take a hit.
Am I the only one surprised that Cavendish only progressed from 200 to 280 million in three years?
Am I the only one surprised that Cavendish only progressed from 200 to 280 million in three years?
As I said, he had 280 million bounty 3 years ago, he said that he was in the papers 3 years ago as the rookie with bounty over 200 million and then his bounty from 3 years ago was shown. Which had 280 million bounty.
Am I the only one surprised that Cavendish only progressed from 200 to 280 million in three years?
No you are the second after me lol
Am I the only one surprised that Cavendish only progressed from 200 to 280 million in three years?
Well, not everybody has Rayleigh as a mentor.
Rebecca for MERA MERA!!!!!! and new crew. I like her already but oda will break my heart by making her evil.
Not sure if it's been discussed, but Bobby and Kerry Funk are likely based on Dory (left) and Terry Funk (middle). They both used to wrestle in All Japan Pro Wrestling years ago.
!
Am I the only one surprised that Cavendish only progressed from 200 to 280 million in three years?
Fellow non-DF user Killer went from 162 million to only 200 million in 2 years.
Being overshadowed by the SN probably made his bounty stagnant, as nobody seemed to care for him anymore.
They seemed to have forgotten about him and focused on the supernovas
Cavendishs bounty is actually pretty impressive. He is a non devilfruit user so he has the highest bounty among the ndfu. Second would be Killer?200million But the 280million is his rookie bounty which is even more impressive
Yeah I know, but I guess it's just that I didn't expect it. Looking forward to Teach's first apparition after the TS, which will hopefuly not take long.

280 is his actual bounty. It looks like it didn't rise at all.

His "presentation" box gives his current bounty as 280 million, so the logical assumption is that it remained the same after 3 years:
!
Cripes, this was an outrageous chapter. Oda's character design is really coming back into the spotlight with Dressrosa; I get such a kick out of the outlandish character designs of the New World, and I definitely hope we get to see some amount of development (either fighting or character-wise) from at least a few of these guys. And damn, Burgess has gotten huge over the past two years. .________.
"Cyrus, as a word in English, is the Latinized form of the Greek Κῦρος, Kȳros, from Old Persian:𐎤𐎢𐎽𐎢𐏁 (IPA: [kʰuːruʃ], Kūruš).[1] According to the inscriptions the name is reflected in Elamite Kuraš, Babylonian Ku(r)-raš/-ra-áš and Imperial Aramaic". Kyros is probably named after Cyrus The Great, the persian king. If we can relate all this revolution thing from the covers as a hint to the main story, Kyros is prabably a Spartacus-like character. Maybe this arc is going resemble Alabasta.
Excellent chapter. Surprised the hell out of me with Bellamy and Jesus.
Does it really matter if his bounty stayed the same or not? I'm more annoyed that some would still call him a rookie… Come on, I honestly don't think you can call anyone who does something for atleast 3 years still call a rookie.

Interestingly enough, he seems to have a personality very similar to Franky.
You know, the guy sitting in the audience who presumably watched the whole thing. Hopefully we'll get to see his reaction next chapter, because I could see Oda setting up the two of them for a later fight (since Franky is probably more his caliber than Luffy right now anyway)
Wow! Late reading chapter today!! Don't have time to wade through 30 pages of content, but sure more than just Cavendish we shown as spectators to CC's experiment on PH. Knew BB would make an attempt for the fruit. Burgess seems like the best choice for this sort of Comp.
It's got to be Burgess, Lucy & Rebecca in the final 4. Knew this arc wouldn't disappoint ! I want Figures of a lot of this characters now!! Come on Megahouse!! Don't let us down at next months Megahobby!!

We're in the Mediterranean here lol. The guys name is based on the Greek word meaning "prestige", not its etymology in Babylonia/Elam (which would go back way before Cyrus the Great).
Also do you know anything about Spartacus or what? Oda already basically made that character, remember Fisher Tiger? Yeah, that was Spartacus if anyone is.
Is Olumbus Hulk Hogan?
Hmm, so if BB crew were to get the Mera-Mera who would use it? Any guesses?

Some crew member we don't know about, possibly?
