587: ''Clash! Law vs. Vice-Admiral Smoker''
-
-
I guess, I just don't really see a comment like that spoiling anything when there's no real context given. I'll try to be more careful in the future, I just don't get why I was really singled out when what I've said is almost meaningless compared to all the people who kept bringing up that Law would appear this arc before he actually did.

Found this on another forum. XD

Nothing personal, I just thought your post contained a little too much information on what's gonna happen in the future. I rarely comment here, but I usually like to read what other people thought about the episode etc. But you've gotta consider these two things that came into my mind:
-
I now know how some of the fights will pan out, while before I had what so ever.
-
If I get information like this every week from one post, I'll have the whole idea on how the arc will end before it actually does, and it removes all the tension from not knowing what will happen.
I'm not asking for you to think about every word on your post before posting, I'd just like that most (if not all) of the stuff that contain even some information about the future plot would be kept in spoilertags. And note that this isnt pointed only at you.
PS. About the whole Law ordeal, I dont remember anyone saying anything about him outside spoilertags, just a whole lot of you-know-who.

Can we please drop the manga elitist attitude? Just because the majority of us prefer the manga to the anime, it doesn't entitle us to be pricks about it.

Agreed. That's one thing I dislike about AP.

If you're not a manga reader and you don't wish to be spoiled, my best advice is, sadly, to avoid this forum (as in the entire site) altogether. I was formerly an anime-only watcher until I got spoiled in a very stupid way of what happened to Ace. Because for some reason this forum has to include the titles of chapters in topic titles and that was in a topic title, which was completely unavoidable for me because it was the last topic posted in in the manga section, thus showing up on the main forum index.
Even though I mentioned it, nobody here has any intention of being nice to those of us who wish to remain unspoiled. Not even those of us who wait a few days (to the day the chapter is actually released in Japan.) to read the new manga chapters legally through VIZ's WSJ.
-
-
I don't think there will be a new opening until
! Joker is revealed and we know about going to Dressrosa. Why would they make an OP for PH when an arc that big is coming up?
that being said I can't wait for a new opening.
Great episode I thought. I enjoyed Law and Smoker battling it out. Also, was I the only one imagining Monet as a blonde or white-haired? Green doesn't seem to fit.

i believe there is a subforum for discussing sja's release.and it's only available in U.S.,therefore making it unfair if you keep the chapter discussion stopped until the official release. and you can just not go into the manga section.it's very easy.most of the people who talk about the manga in the anime section spoiler it.
there, problems solved.now you all can please stopwhiningcompaining -
didn't like the fight, in the manga it was more "epic".
I enjoyed Law's 'OH SHIT' face in the anime.
And the face he made when he used 'scalpel'

Go home you're clearly drunk.
Telling people to avoid the ENTIRE FORUM if they're anime readers is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Sure some avatars and signatures can be a bit spoilerific (coughcough) but that doesn't mean they HAVE to avoid the WHOLE forum just to avoid spoilers. I mean c'mon. Y'all are stupid. -

Do I think it should have to be that way? No. Anime only watchers certainly have a place here. But nobody here seems to care about taking the proper precautions as to not spoil them. Nobody listens, they're just like "avoid the section" even though that clearly doesn't prevent it.

The only anime watchers also have the same responsibility as the manga only or manga and anime users.
Should keep in mind what awaits for themso don't blame only the one side

I'll admit one of my comments might give you a very small idea of how something went down, but I really didn't include most of the relevant info. Hell I didn't even include all the major fights in this arc. (and I apologize if you see this as another spoiler, but I couldn't figure out a way to get around it). But honestly, that's also only relevant if you even remember a one off comment made here by the time the anime gets to whatever I was talking about. I agree that you shouldn't spoil major things, but I just feel that lumping all spoilers together regardless of intensity is stupid. If we do that, then where can we draw the line? Do people with spoilerly sigs and avatars not count? I try to avoid huge spoilers, but as someone who knows how things go down, it's incredibly hard for me to avoid not saying something that could be telling if you look into it. AM I not allowed on the anime forums? DO I have to constantly talk in spoiler tags if I do go here just on the off chance that I slip up and say something that might reveal more then I intended? Honestly, I think its worse to lump any sort of spoiler together, because then its very easy to click on spoiler tags expecting nothing huge and end up getting a huge spoiler. I can respect not wanting to know what'll happen, but trust me when I say that a few notes like I gave, without any real context, can hardly tell you how things go down. Hell, as someone who used to actively spoil things for himself, I can tell you that even knowing specific events without context is nothing close to seeing them in context.

so you have to read the news section?can't you navigate the forum normally?
and it not as if that every chapter title is gonna spoil you the same way as the title of 574. -
I was pretty meh by the whole episode. The anime really has been crap for me lately, I'll probably stop watching it for a few weeks to let some episodes build up.
-
I may be lax at times in enforcing it, but we do have a spoiler policy here in this forum. If the anime has covered up to chapter 660, you do not talk about anything that happens in chapter 661-forward without putting it in spoiler tags. As simple as that. Maybe it needs to be rewritten, but we do have a stickied topic in this very section detailing the policy.
And as someone who got into One Piece through the anime, I despise the notion that following or even preferring it to the manga makes you any less of a fan. That kind of elitism is not the sort of attitude that I like to see fostered around here.
-
Agreed. That's one thing I dislike about AP.
I don't think the people here are elitist toward anime-only people, rather they think the anime is worse than the manga and that anime-only people are missing out. Anime-only people might think that the anime is a superior experience due to color, voices, music and animation and that reading the manga will spoil that, but that's not the case with this anime. The drawing is lacking, the animation too and the pacing god awful. I'm not biased against it by the way, because I thought it was great up untill Alabasta. Really, you're not missing out at all by reading the manga, on the contrary. Really, I so recommend anime-only people to also give the manga a try. I think that if you knew what you were missing, most of you would agree and wouldn't bother to wait for this quite frankly insulting adaptation.
I actually almost never read One Piece because of it. My first contact was the anime at impel down. It was so off-putting that I was this close to never giving this great series a chance.
Just let it be said that I don't feel "superior" to anime-only people, cause that would be pretty sad and super nerdy. -
Hmm they extended the scene with Ceaser to notify Joker, anyone else think they are going to reveal Joker earlier than the manga? They could introduce him when they make contact over the den den mushi, heck they introduced Ceasers gas form earlier than expected so why not although it'll ruin his big reveal.

-
I agree that we shouldn't put down anime only viewers and that they should be protected from any big spoilers. I just feel like the way spoiler policy is currently done is flawed. I think it'd be better to be pretty lax about small stuff that doesn't really give anything away, but crack down much more than is already done on bigger spoilers (like all the people who made mentions or even just references to Law's appearance before he showed up in the anime)
-
You have someone who was just called pathetic for not reading the manga. What do you expect these people to think, whether or not you had any part in it.
Woah wait what.
If this was me, I wasn't saying they were pathetic because they didn't read the manga.
I called them pathetic for saying that basically those who don't read the manga should basically not come to this forum. ANYONE is welcome (except haters, though sometimes it makes for good discussion which can sometimes either be amusing or frustrating to watch)
Heck, I didn't even say anyone was pathetic - I merely said stupid. There are other places in the forum which aren't even One Piece related. I know they most likely mean avatars and signatures and the occasional references, but still. Saying 'Anime-only watchers should avoid the whole forum' is just… stupid. -

With how I got spoiled, one would have to avoid the entire forum to not get spoiled actually.

One possibility is to bookmark the specific forums you visit. If you're mainly here for the anime discussion, just bookmark directly to that.
I understand this might make a broader navigation of the forum a little difficult, but it's something of a safeguard.
And no, anime-only viewers shouldn't have to avoid the forum as a whole. The forum is built around the enjoyment of One Piece in all its various forms. Anime-only viewers have to be aware that spoilers will happen–intentional and otherwise--but it's still our responsibility to keep the various forums as enjoyable for all fans as possible. And I speak as one who has unintentionally spoiled in an anime thread before.
-
You have someone who was just called pathetic for not reading the manga. What do you expect these people to think, whether or not you had any part in it.
What I meant was that he was probably refering to only watching the anime as pathetic and not the poster.
-
The episode was alright. Animation certainly picked up in the latter half of the fight. Definitely a case of lowered expectation in that Toei thankfully did not drag out the fight to take up most of the episode.
I don't get CC's logic. He says it's bad if they kill Smoker because then the Navy would get suspicious, then says it's okay if they kill Smoker and the Straw Hats because they're a notorious pirate crew?
It's because Smoker and the Marines saw the kids they had locked up in the lab. CC couldn't have that info leak out no matter what. It makes more sense later on when CC's overall grand scheme is more apparent.
-
I'm probably late to the party, but I agree with Envy's points. Especially because it's really not that much of a difficulty to just title chapter discussion threads under the title number, taking into account chapter titles can indeed be spoilerific. Not just in the case of Ace, but all the time.
So steps CAN be taken to make the site enjoyable to anime viewers as well. There's just more of an attitude of "why bother" based on the fact that most people are expected to follow the manga anyway.
-
I know people already complained about the voices matching the personality, but the part in the episode where the kids commented on "omg so confused by personality and appearances not matching up!" makes them a little silly when the voice does. >_>
-
I was pretty meh by the whole episode. The anime really has been crap for me lately, I'll probably stop watching it for a few weeks to let some episodes build up.
I don't know where your expectations are, kid, but they're clearly nowhere near this plain of reality. Best thing for you probably is to stop watching.

and yes, some people call others pathetic.although this forum may be quite civil,it's still the internet.get used to it.
and if he was referring to the anime as pathetic,i agree with that. -

I think you're a few years young to be calling me kid. I'm sorry you're insulted that I find your tolerance of mediocrity higher than mine, but that's my opinion. You're entitled to glorify it, but the pace is almost unbearable, much like the manga was during the beginning of this arc.
I suggest you hold more respect towards different opinions so you don't throw yourself into unnecessary conflicts, especially with people more experienced than you.

I knew that, it's just that I figured the Navy would get more suspicious if both Smoker and the Straw Hats happened to just go missing at the same time.

Baby, baby, please. I'm with you! I told you in my first post that, if you truly were so disillusioned with the state of the anime that your streaked pantaloons were just SO twisted, you should stop watching. And now you fight me for it? I give you my loving reinforcement and you give me your cottonmouth viper venom? We've known each other for far too long for you to be hurting me so now. We have too many fond memories together, mon cher! I would never dream of squaring off with someone who is clearly much "more experienced" than me at.. well - I'm not sure what, but I'll assume it's just about everything.~
And please believe me when I tell you that my tolerance for the anime's mediocrity hangs lower than your dear granny's boobies. Maybe that's what, in my gullible youth, has lead me to actually have a grounded sense of opinion on it, rather than live in fantasy land where hipster contrarian sensibilities are what's hip. Daddy-o.
-
Oh yeah forgot to say: Lawgasms.
Lawgasms everywhere.
[/and a reminder that I've called dibs (since the scene occurred in the manga) on the 'Chopphat' moment] -

Oh sorry, I misinterpretted your "kid" comment as sarcastic thus making the entire post in a sarcastic tone. Disregard earlier post, but for humor sake, my experience comment was specifically towards sarcastic toned arguments.
Again I apologize, unfortunately I make these assumptions on this specific forum about it's general userbase giving me that crap since I joined.

Very good episode especialy the fight it had some wonky parts but it was a good episode regardless.
-
What we can learn from this is we're all paranoid and jump to conclusions too easily. And like making jokes about granny boobs apparently.
By the way, zachri, I've never said this despite wanting to for a LONG time now, but your Law sig is absolutely brilliant.
