Thanks for the cover!
Thought it was really nice, except I don't understand why Zoro is on it, while Vergo is not. Vergo was much more in the spotlight this arc, but oh well. Having Momo around Luffy's neck would also have been nice.
Volume 69 Predictions

I don't want to be a downer, but this is pretty underwhelming. Too crowded and a poor choice of characters if you ask me. I mean the chapters covered basically scream VERGO. He slaughtered the Marines, bitchslapped Tashigi, cracked Sanji's leg, destroyed Law, destroyed Smoker and even got a freaking flashback.
When if not now?

Next volume. Probably as a decapitated head alongside a wounded Monet and an enraged Doflamingo.

So much for the color scheme expect for the skin color~

The rest of his sliced body could still show up.

the reason Vergo isn't there is because this is a Alabasta/CP9 style cover. Next cover should feature Dofla, Caesar, Monet, Vergo, Baby 5 and Buffalo
-
I get why Zoro's there since he was the only Straw Hat other than Luffy to get a fight (such as it was) in this arc, but yeah Chopper wasn't needed at all. I fell that Vergo should've could've replaced him and the kids.

coughFrankycough
Yeah I agree, there was no need for Chopper and the children. Vergo should've been put in that spot. Nice cover, just a bit busy.
-
Right, this section of the arc, then.
-
Any chance that this could mean that vergo isn't out of the story yet? I mean, this is a new record for smoker being on 3 covers in a row now lol. Then again, it does look like a double cover and we probably wont even get luffy on volume 70. I can see Dofla paralleling Law, Vergo to smoker, monet to tashigi, and caesar to luffy. Another reason why I think this is because there is only a quarter of that gear there. There must be another half of a design for that cover.
-
@zeff:
judging by the way luffy is standing
it pretty much confirms that luffy is protecting brownbeard
so the last chapter would be 692
so that we get this at the start of volume 70
[qimg]http://s03.mpcdn.net/manga/p/770/393584/4.jpg[/qimg]The volume chapters are 679-690.
-
Finally! I have too say, it's an awesome cover.
But it would have been an EPIC cover if Chopper, Mocha, and Tashigi were cut out and replaced with Vergo, Kinemon, and Brownbeard.

@Gia:
this is a new record for smoker being on 4 covers in a row now lol.
Fixed .

While it does look like the typical "Heroes side" cover that's usually contrasted by a "Villains side" cover, the thing is, it doesn't make that much sense, at least content wise.
During volume 70 Monet and Vergo are already down, and Caesar lasts 2 chapters. Baby 5 and Buffalo do appear for the majority of volume 70, but I don't think a villains cover would work as well as, say, a Dressrosa arc with everyone getting a boss fight, ala CP9 saga. That would fit much, much better.
But yeah, with the absence of any villain whatsoever in this cover, and half the gear on the upper right side, it does seem 70 will most probably feature villains in it. Although it would be a much, much better choice to have Dofla, Aokiji, Baby 5 & Buffalo and Franky shogun, content wise. . . . .

Which is why if its not the case, do you think that Vergo and Monet may get more screen time in the future? Usually important characters of an arc get on the cover somehow, yet these 2, who are pretty important, havent been on it. Vergo at least, monet has already been on a cover.
-
I already made my wish that these two come back later. Vergo vs. Sanji part 2 would be oh so welcome, and Nami momentarily fending off Monet with her Heat Egg seemed like some kind of foreshdowing that Nami could exploit that weakness in a fight with the snow woman.
So yeah, I want them back. They rocked, they had an awesome design, awesome abilities, a twisted personality while still having a weirdly warm and even a bit touching relationship with Doflamingo; they, along with Caesar, upped the Punk Hazard villain team leaps and bounds above their FI counterparts. Like, biiiiig time.
-
Hmm, I'm not liking this one as much, it's composed….weirdly. I can't put my finger on it. Other covers, although busy, had a certain rhythm to them. But I like the idea of it being a companion cover...that would make sense if this is just half of something. Also why Zoro and Tashigi feature so prominently, just for their one fight, but not their opponent, who terrorized many of the protagonists. And to show Law's giant, bloody, hat-less head.........but not who made him hatless and bloody in the first place.
-
Even if the composition of the cover is weird, the art is still amazing and this is probably one of the best drawn covers that Oda has ever done.
-
oh why yes, of course. I would hate to imply that his drawings themselves lacked in any way :)
-
Nice cover! I really like Luffy's pose and expression.
-
Could someone confirm whether if Oda puts Luffy always on covers volumes, or not?!

Pretty sure he's not on volume 21.
-

Only 2, the villain covers. 21 and 42.
-
Could someone confirm whether if Oda puts Luffy always on covers volumes, or not?!
Luffy's been on every cover except for Volumes 21 and 42.
-
Luffy is on all volume covers except for 20 (Baroque Works) & 42 (CP9), but he compensates for that with being on Volume 60 twice (as a kid and as his current self).
-
Such an epic cover.
Shame there's no Doflamingo.
And something is irking me a little… Law has gray eyes, right...?
They look brown here...
[/flips a table]
least that explains all the fan arts with brown eyes @ ^ @;;; oh well.
[/headcanon = gray] -
can anyone confirm the fact how many chapters this volume contains?if this volume ends at 690 or after it,i would be deeply disappointed by the exclusion of hadened vergo,or even normal vergo.

[/headcanon = gray]THANK YOU. XD I am going insane with this. He has gray eyes and blue hair. SOMETIMES. Godammit Oda…The last color spread he was on he had blue hair and these orangy brown eyes...dafaq. This aint no shoujo you can't just be changing color schemes.
-
No Vergo on the cover? I'm surprised. I like it anyway
-
Next volumne should be better suited to get DoFlamingo and Baby5 on it…damn will i love that one :)
This one is way to crowded for my taste, but Luffy looks breathtaking on it!
-
Damn, I was really expecting Vergo and Monet to be in this volume cover
-
Not Oda's best work, looks kinds hasty and like some of the charachters have been copy pasted in. I like covers that tell a story, this is just random nothing to remember all those chapters by.
Color scheme is not well chosen with the gray at the top versus pinkish momonoskuke, the red thing behind law and the logo. What chopper in monster point is doing on this cover is a mystery to me since he only fended off those kids for like 2 panels.
This should've been the cover of Monet and Vergo. Maybe the Brownbeard bus.
-
Strange how Law has black hair in this cover, considering that Oda has depicted him with blue hair twice.
-
Going to echo everyone else and say that while the art is good, character choices are weird. Vergo especially should have been on it, but Monet and Brownbeard would have been appreciated as well. Smoker and Tashigi are both being overused. Neither should have been on this one or 66. Also, Chopper looks like he's creeping on the kids and logo slice looks weird without anything else being treated like that.
Honestly, if it didn't spoil so much, it would have been sweet having a cover of everything being split (Monet, Vergo, the lab, etc.).
-
@The:
Holy fuck that is one crowded cover.
!
Never forget.

Do these stripes mean anything?
the one on the right is for law when he cut the mountain range and u can see the letters have shifted… dont know what the left arrow is pointing at
edit:
Left is a sword.

That cover is way more cohesive and pleasing aesthetically. It's like a postcard snapshot of FI.
This cover is like a slapdash montage of dudes appearing in the chapters.

Left is a sword.
The more I look at Chopper on this cover, the more skeevy I think he looks. Is the blue haired girl by Zoro's shoulder just one of the kids?

what this guy said ^^^^, just seems like no order.
i do like the tilted name of law's slash though, adds flair
-
Pedo Chopper is disturbing.

I like the cover, but it definitely is way too crowded.

He never had blue hair. Blue is used for black for different lighting conditions.

When can we expect the SBS info?

I was talking about what redon posted. He posted the the info a few pages back about it being 12 chapters (the longest to date) and the source.
Edit: Page 5. posted by redon.
Volume 69 will have 248 pages, it´s the longest Volume in One Piece collection. I think Volume 69 will contain 12 chapters (679-690).
_ONE PIECE 69

著者:尾田 栄一郎■ISBNコード: 978-4-08-870614-6
■判型/総ページ数: 新書判/248ページ

Being the longest it would have to be longer than volume 63 which was 12 chapters, but the added pages don't equal the length of another chapter..
