I don't understand Law's way of thinking. There are two options:

A - Law wants DD not to give up his status and end up fighting Kaido.

If that was the case he would have simply kept CC and made no effort to contact Doflamingo. This way he's actually giving him a choice, but that's counterproductive if he just wanted him to fight Kaido; after all DD could choose to give up the title and flee, which anyway is the most logical solution: if he chose to stay a Shichibukai he would have to say goodbye to SAD and to confront the strongest creature of the world. So He'd be double screwed.
B - Law wants DD to give up his status and end up fighting the Admirals.

He made such an effort to capture CC and to stop the SAD production… and all that just so that DD stops being a Shichibukai? That's ridiculous, that way he'd have to give CC back (unless he's lying, which could very well be), the SAD would keep being produced and the alliance would have no advantage over Kaido whatsoever.

So why is Law doing this at all??? The best course of action would've been to just keep CC, hoping to never cross paths with DD. Also the lying stuff doesn't really seem to fit well with Law, and especially with Luffy and Co., so after all it seems just a dumb move alltogether...

There is also option C:

I think you're right that Doflamingo doesn't quit. I'm speculating that Law just wants DD to react.

Because If Doflamingo wouldn't deliver the SMILES to Kaidou, he'd be force to take refuge in the World Government and/or take out his hidden cards. The World Government, unwanting to discredit the position of Shichibukai any further(Croc lost, Moria lost, BB left) would support DD as much as possible.

Next step, Law/Luffy would make a deal with Kaidou, pointing out that DD did not only fail to deliver his promise, but is "planning something with the Marines." using DD's "weird actions" as of the moment. Using Caesar as a leverage, (hey the traitor DD failed to give you SMILES but we give you his SAD manufacturer) and WB's last actions (there was a Yonkou before that clashed head on with the Marines, in their HQ). They'd provoke Kaidou into hunting DD and clashing with the Marines.

Kaidou, being a bitter rival of WB, would take a bite( or if kill Law and Luffy outright = failure).
Of course, Kaidou can also do nothing ( DD still on the tail of Law, Kaidou's strength did not change = failure).
He can also assassinate DD ( DD dies but the Yonkou stands = failure)
Or
The clash with the Marines would happen, but Kaidou would succeed and his forces would not be weakened enough (Law and Luffy can't beat him still = failure)

I think the scenario Law is looking for is where Kaidou clashes with the Marines due to some orchestrated misunderstanding with DD, suffer severe damage or die. By that, Kaidou's territory would be up for the taking. But with that, I don't think the remaining Supernovas would stand still.

You do realize that this is only because Oda wrote it so, right? He could have just, simply, NOT made Law have an all-overshadowing connection to Doflamingo. Let the Straw Hats stumble across his dastardly deeds, forge a relationship of their own. As is, Doflamingo, one of the major antagonists of the story, has been handed off to be Laws' to defeat. Not Luffys.

Why should everything always revolve around the SHs? We've seen it can still be entertaining without them, like it was in the war (mind, Luffy was the focus, of course, but still…)
The Supernovas have been introduced for a reason. Some of them might play a bigger role. Deal with it. It's not like Law hijacked the story, the thought never once crossed my mind - and I'm not really a fan of his, so I can't say I'm biased.

Vergo went all-out super body haki mode when he charged at Law. He was more serious than he'd ever been at Punk Hazard. Law took on that Full Power, and sliced through it liked butter.
In no way, shape or form was Vergos defeat not a big fat line under "Look much stronger Law is than him, look at how awesome he is!"

And thus, Laws humbling moment at Vergos hands, dissipates in the light of "He was handicapped. Otherwise, he'd mop the floor with Vergo."

One might easily think that, but no. Arrogance certainly has played a great role and we could argue (because we don't know for sure how it works) that going "full haki" spreads the Haki more, so he could have possibly tanked it if he had concentrated it where he got hit. We don't know.
I don't say Law wouldn't have won, but saying he is MUCH stronger is just exaggerated. He's in the same ballpark.

That makes it sooo much better.

Well, imagine Luffy in his place. He'd have a much harder time against him, since both are brawlers and Vergo has (or should have, since he's been portrayed as such) stronger Haki than him.
A moment of inatention and you're pretty much fucked around Law (granted, you take an Elephant gun while looking somewhere else isn't exactly healthy either, but you get my point, I hope!).

Yup, he realized that Luffy is crazy as fuck(back at Shabody), and is the incarnation of the God of Trouble and Luck. He most probably allied with him to "babysit" him and keep him away from meddling with his plans(didn't work exactly like he wanted).

Judging by the clock present on the life raft(if it ofcourse is a clock), it's most likely 2pm the clear sky suggesting that it's nowhere near sunset.
This leaves DD 14 hours approximately to let the WG know of his resignation, but why would one do such thing?

I've always had the image of how cool it would be if some of Luffy's former enemies came under his wings like the way WB had, at the very end of the series, including Croc himself in a tsundere fashion. Yeah, it's more of a fangasizing than actual theorizing but it'd bring a smile on my face.

I actually think this is more plausible than you seem to believe. I read the interview between Oda and Akira Toriyama in the back of Color Walk 1 the other day, and both men were discussing about how there is a "grand tradition" in shonen manga to turn the bad guys good, and how both of them had continued that tradition. Considering we already got a bit of this with the alliance at Impel Down, I would say that it was only a taste of things to come. I think Moria allying with Luffy during his assault on Kaido is almost a given, and considering Croc's attitude towards Luffy at Impel Down and the Whitebeard War, I also believe Croc will return to back up Luffy when the time is right. It's also looking likely that even Kuzan will help the Straw Hats sometime in the future. At this point, the only two people that I would be very surprised to see bend to Luffy's will would be Sakazuki and Teach.

it seems unlikely from the beginning. marines needs more than one admiral for the whole new world. it would be dumb and not logical to have only 1 admiral. if a problem arises in Shabondy and somewhere in the new world at the same time, and needs an admiral-kind of attention and they only have Kizaru? they'll be fucked. pretty sure they are not dumb to not replace aokiji and akainu. luckily, people thinking here that only kizaru is the only admiral is not the head/s of the marines.

not all things need proof. sometimes it's better to think logically than having some dumb theories. btw, of course jinbe can't tell everything, that would spoil the surprise/story.

That part is what has me convinced all this time there has to be more than one admiral, the Tenryubito would demand it. We know from the first visit to SA that the World Nobles can call an Admiral to the island if they were threatened on SA. I am assuming that they have this ability to do so elsewhere when they travel, its just easier at SA since its so close to the Holy City and more Teneryubito would go to SA.

Lets remember that SA is suppose to be wilder now after the HQ moved tot he New World but I would think that the tenryubito would still visit the island. Disco's auction house may have been closed but there are other auction houses on the island for the Tenryubito to visit to buy their slaves. The Tenryubito would not let pirates keep from going. After all only Lufy was crazy enough to go against them. Other pirates try to keep their heads down and not get noticed, there are some who would interefere with other pirates to prevent notice of the Tenryubito (who call an Admiral if they get bothered) this was shown when X Drake interefered with Urogue & Killer's fight (in ch 498), then again when Bonney stopped Zoro.
There is no way that 1 Admiral can take care of pirates out in the new world and be available to answer the beck and call of the Tenryubito.

this whole thing isnt adding up from a logical standpoint. keyword logical, as this is one piece and ppl do stupid shit every arc. but either way i'll explain my thoughts.

Law wants DD to quit the shichibukai, and his stance is if kaido finds out that he cant produce any more smiles for him, there'll be conflict and he might get killed. Now, i understand that kaido is suppose to not be an understanding individual but if DD is able to explain why he cant produce smiles why wouldnt kaido just help him get CC back? instead, if kaido doesnt help DD and his understanding is really naught then he's out of smile suppliers anyway which is not good business.

Next is the fact that Law has already betrayed DD, why would DD trust that law is going to keep his word on returning back CC? the biggest Fuck You to DD i can think of right now is if DD quits the shichibukai and law doesnt give back CC then DD will have both the WG and Kaido as enemies.

thirdly, Captain Kid looks quite comfy in his base of operations, why cant DD just move to a secret base if he decides to leave the shichibukai? he's clearly made it known that he can quit whenever he wants. either way, the marines have their hands full with centuries of pirates im sure DD could escape, shit, he could align himself with kaido or another yonkou and be protected again lol.

Also, with the information that vergo is apart DD's crew and that he was responsible for the kidnapping and concealment of kids and that DD is Joker, if smoker were to relate this information to the World Government, whats to say DD would still be able to keep his position anyway? Yea law told smoker not to say anything but DD doesnt know their terms of agreement and as a person looking from the outside in, who's also methodical, DD should already be thinking about this.

I know law has expressed that the success rate is 30% but honestly those arent horrible numbers when it comes to a gamble. also, Law has been planning before luffy showed up, so those odds might be even higher seeing as law doesnt know the full potential of the straw hat crew.

There are still unknowns and the biggest one is kaido himself. so everything above is dependent on how kaido would react or w/e.

sn: i realize alot of ppl dont like cocky and methodical characters as thats the only reason ive seen ppl disliking law. And for the ppl complaining that law is stealing the spotlight, the name of the manga is One Piece, not luffy piece, not straw hat pirates. law's "takeover" is nowhere as big as ppl make it seem, especially when u look at other series (sasuke's takeover in naruto to name one). Law is playing an integral role in the development of the saga to set up what seems is going to be a very chaotic ending. Just sit back and relax a bit and let Oda do what he's done best for the past 15+ years, trust him, let him tell his story.

DD was in charge of Smile which in turn means hes got to make sure his product gets out and safely. Seeing how he underestimated Law And Strawhats literally destroy smile and take ceasar is his fault. from my point of view

Sky Road isn't a place, it's a bad translation. The translators have been saying it's a metaphor, like the "Pirate's Summit" crap we had years ago. He's basically saying that Luffy and Law have cut off his path to the top.

You sure like to misinterpret things.
a. Sky Road isn't a bad translation. Both Aohige and C3 used it hence it's anything but bad.
b. C3 thought about the possibility of it being meant metaphorically but discarded that thought eventually.
c. Aohige himself said that it's definitely not a metaphor but rather a literal description of the events happening (i.e. said road being interrupted).

DD was in charge of Smile which in turn means hes got to make sure his product gets out and safely. Seeing how he underestimated Law And Strawhats literally destroy smile and take ceasar is his fault. from my point of view

oh, its definitely DD's fault, but Kaido has business transactions with DD in which smiles are being traded. if kaido is gonna be so mad that he cant get anymore smile fruits why wont he just team up with DD to get ceasar back or if kaido is really ruthless, kill DD and go after ceasar himself. either way, what law did isnt exactly a good trade to me, guess ill just have to wait and see.

Sky Road isn't a place, it's a bad translation. The translators have been saying it's a metaphor, like the "Pirate's Summit" crap we had years ago. He's basically saying that Luffy and Law have cut off his path to the top.

Aohige, who usually translates our OP spoilers, confirmed that it's not a metaphor.

I watched KoL's review of this week's chapter and he had a pretty good theory of what Doflamingo said was the "sky road" or whatever.
Remember when we saw Apoo and his crew being chased by that pack of hogs and they ran off a cliff? However, they did not fall. Perhaps there are these invisible paths you can walk on. He went on and mentioned how Gan Fall said there was another way to sky island besides the knock up stream. Maybe it could be one of these sky paths.
I thought it was pretty interesting, and I should share it with you guys.
