A weird question for you guys here, but, does anyone else want to see trade evolutions…disappear? (For instance: Have to trade Machoke for it to evolve into Machamp).

Trading is a big part of the series. Trade evolutions are there to encourage that.
-
Yeah even though we have to "trade" to get said evolutions, we see Gliscor, Golem , Steelix in the wild.
Nope, Golems aren't in the wild as far as I know. Gravelers are, but not the third form. Same with Machamp, Gengar, Alakazam, Rhyperior, Electivire. Porygon and such. Third form trade evos aren't in the wild. 2nd formers are sometimes.
The Karrablast and Shelmet evos are especially weird since they only evolve with each other.
-
I've never traded pokemon except to make them evolve, then trade back. I've never had a friend want to do anything except that, either.
it just seems like a hassle to me, so I wouldn't mind haunter evolving by level (or item).
-
@RobbyBevard:
Yeah, anything that got a later evolution tends to be screwed by really strange requisites to get it to evolve that way… usually based around a rare-ish item that there might be only one of in a given game.
Which kinda sucks.
Though a lot of the weird evolutions can be found int he wild now.
Next time they want to make a new (pre)evolution for a Pokemon, they may as well make it so, "from now on this Pokemon evolves at this level, or this Pokemon breeds this Pokemon without another stupid incense."
They already contradicted previous generations by making Piloswine and Lickitung evolve with Ancient Power and Rollout, despite they could learn them in generation 3 (albeit only through egg moves and move tutors, but still).
-
Gliscor isn't a trade evolution.
Yeah my bad it evolves at nigth with an item, haven't evolved one since DP and its the one I still use :P.
Though there were Golem in the wild in some game but apparently there wasn't, still, Steelix, Politoad can be fished, Gengar was capturable in Old Chateau I believe, etc.

Yeah they could fix some of that stuff now, the incenses are really uncessary, just make every Snorlax being a Munxlax from now on if its the baby form its the baby form not the baby form if you give him an item.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So I've seen a bunch of BS rumors but I saw a guy posting some stuff and he seems to be confident that he is rigth not that I'm banking on it but a Spanish site guy did spoil almost the entire dex back in the 5gen.
The game is being translated in a lot of places to information will probably leak if it was Japan maybe it wasn't that likelly(even though like I said a Spanish dude did spoil the region), this guy says he is working on the american localization.
! Hello. I am part of the creative design team that works on the localization of Pokemon under Nintendo of America in collaboration with Game Freak.
! You may not believe me, but I do so much love the rumor mill and enjoy giving people small tidbits just enough not to be breaching my job contract. To solidify my claim I will give you a few facts.
! 1. We had the 5 new Pokemon designs on paper at the beginning of December and finalized the English names before Christmas break. I can offer proof if needed.
! 2. We were given small summaries about the design aspects of each of the Pokemon to help us develop the names.
! 3. We actually have 10 other designs, of which 5 more are planned to be released in March.
! I will give you guys some time to guess what the "Z" legendary is since it is one of the 10 others we were given. If someone gets close or I get bored, I will tell you.
! Hint: Yveltal is based on Yatagarasu. Xerneas is based on Shishigami. (Japanese mythos)
! Feel free to ask me about the other designs, etc etc.! As skepticism and arguments have devoured the good nature of my last thread, I am starting this thread and putting more one the line. I want someone to screenshot this post for March.
! Summary of what I have already revealed:
! New region is divided between Northern forests/mountains and southern coasts / plains.
2 new villain teams
Yveltal and Xerneas are based on yatagarasu and shishigami respectively
The 2 legendaries represent North and South
The 3rd "Z" legendary is based on a shachihoko (check other thread for a detailed description)
New eevolution is flying type
Fennekin line = Egyptian
Chespin line = military / soldier
Froakie line = wizard
…and I believe that was all the major stuff I discussed
! Now, for my huge show of faith I will give you the other 4 pokemon designs that will be shown in March (already told you the eevee one). AfterI post this, I will probably logout until mid-March (hopefully with new info) when more people will believe me after the reveal.
! 1. Small dolphin with clown face paint (no clown nose) and a striped hoop around its belly. (summary says it gets 1 evo)
2. A bird that looks very similar to a plover, mostly white body with black stripes, forming something like a hashtag on both sides of the body. Also stripe across eyes. (summary says 2 evos)
3. A fluffball with only small legs and a nose sticking out of it (cannot see eyes). This is the new rodent, but the animal it is based on is neither associated with fluff or Europe. (summary says 1 evo)
4. A small kangaroo with a battery-pouch and two hammer-like hands. Its tail is spiraled (no obvious lightning marks on its body) (summary says 2 evos)
! OK, that leaves me with 4 designs unspoilt. See you guys in March!
-
! That's some juicy info.
Yatagarasu is a crow, so… I think we're safe as far as Yveltal not being a dragon. Flying/dark seems likely.
And the Z legendary will apparently be the tiger/fish fusion found on the tops of castles.
! And a bird with hashtags markings on it? Three guesses as to what the fan-name for that will be, and the first two don't count. -

Posting the topics anyway:

I hardly believe in any shit on gamefaqs without evidence.

Same but I did doubt the spanish dude and then he started posting every pokemon one each day on twittter in the Dex order and I got owned.
I've went through the thread there is a good chance the guy is lying and I don't believe him that much but its better then, N IS COMING BACK rumors.
-
Sounds like it's going to be like Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. With the 2 different villain teams, one exclusive to X and the other Y–eventually coming together in Pokemon Z.
-
I just hope that they don't make the 2 teams as bad as Aqua and Magma or make clones of them. I can just imagine it now.
"We are Team Wind with Yveltal we will expand the sky" "And we are team Forest with Xerneas we will expand the forest"
or something along those lines

Team Galactic is the worst team.
They dressed like retards, they talked like retards, and their 'dream'–their goal--was impossible AND retarded; sounded like something out of an over-the-top anime, like Dragonball Z or Gurren Lagann.
I do admit Aqua and Magma were 'meh', though. Team Rocket is still my favorite; simple, but effective.
-
Wait, Shishigami is more than just the deer from Mononoke? That thing appears elsewhere?
Well, that explains that I suppose.
-
I started skipping through pokemon dialogue around halfway through Gen 3. It has never been worth dwelling on the plot too much. I prefer making up the plot instead. My verson of the game involves a lot more yelling, slavery and complacent self-aware insanity.
I wouldn't know N was PETA for pokemon if every webcomic didn't make a joke about that.
-

Team Plasma was the worst team (followed closely by Team Aqua and Magma)
"We will liberate Pokemon from trainers by using Pokemon the same way they do but because we have a worthy cause it's ok! :D "

I believe you mean Team Plasma.
-
Yeah, Cyrus wanted to basically undo Creation.
-
Yeah, Cyrus wanted to basically undo Creation.
The weirder part is of course, the gods of time, space and creation willingly obeying a 10 year old. In battles. Against ratatata.
-
I believe you mean Team Plasma.
Yeah…thanks there is so many teams it tends to get confusing sometimes.
-
Yeah…thanks there is so many teams it tends to get confusing sometimes.
Ooh, let's do a recap then:
Team Rocket: Generically wanted to take over the world with Pokemon. Also, I guess there was like an attempt at corporate sabotage. Probably the smartest Team.
Team Aqua: Wanted to flood the world
Team Magma: Wanted to rock the world
Team Galactic: Wanted to undo creation. Despite being the most ambitious, they were also the least memorable.
Team Plasma: PETA knockoffs that dressed like gay knights for some reason. Got more dignified costumes in Black/White 2. -
-
I always find myself taking Team Magma's side. Who doesn't want more land in our ever-growing populated world? Besides, even Lex Luthor tried to copy their evil plot in Superman Returns.
-
I find Team Rocket Overrated. I want to forget Team Aqua and Magma.
I liked Team Galatic.
I found Team Plasma the best, easily.
-
Also believe Team Plasma to be the best. They actually gave the game a plot, had characters within the organization be well-developed, and didn't simply have a mindless goal or objective, as through the story there was a constant questioning of whether their goal was genuine or correct at all. Ghetsis and N together make Team Plasma more memorable than any of the other teams, taking aside the nostalgia factor of Team Rocket.
I always see a lot of people giving generation V and III a bad rap in terms of starters and pokemon and villians, but personally IV is soo forgettable. Even with hundred of hours of play time I still can't remember most of the map, nor do I remember Team Galactic being relevant or interesting in any way. Only cool trainer character I remember from IV is Cynthia.
-
Team Rocket kicks it old school by just wanting to use Pokemon for criminal profit. Straightforward, but they make for good antagonists with the series' emphasis on "Pokemon are partners and friends, not tools."
Team Magma and Team Aqua worked best in Emerald where they were BOTH outlaws, clashing against each other with opposite goals and with other people getting caught in the middle.
Team Galactic's "goal" was kind of weird, but the organization as a whole was great because all the grunts were Jessie, James, and Meowth en masse. Seriously. Hilarious.
Team Plasma is, as already mentioned, the most complex team and actually best drive their games' plots. A team that disguises itself as activists with a handsome spokesperson, while the REAL leader behind the scenes hides nefarious world-conquering goals.
-
I always thought Magma and Aqua had the stupidest plans…..but yeah, they at least worked a little better in Emerald where both were the enemy, and Maxie and Archie both realized what their dreams would amount to.
Rocket's simple, but worked for the simple gameboy era. Evil criminal organization that uses Pokemon for profit. Saving Silph Co. was probably my favorite part of the game, maybe the music was a little.....haunting?
As said, Galactic's great purely because of the grunts and Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter. Cyrus's speech in Platinum was also great. Guess I'm in the minority here?
Plasma.....probably my favorite of all the criminal teams, since again.....their motive was a lot more complex and thought-provoking. Ghetsis wanted to conquer the world, but N really wanted to help Pokemon.
-
I didn't care for N at all much, but the dynamic between him and Gheitis were the shing moments for me. I just wished the sages had a more forward role.
Aside that, I actually liked thier dorky outfits in BW1. -
Going to agree that Magma and Plasma were the dumbest.
My favourtes are also Plasma followed by TR.
-
This is the first time in a while I've been REALLY hyped for a Pokemon game. Bring it on.
-
Wow after reading all of these posts I've only just realised that I have never paid any attention to the story or goals of the evil organisation in pokemon ever.
My mindset whenever I play is "I'm fighting you mooks so that the gym leaders can stop faffing about and get back to their gym so I can massacre all their pokemon and take their badges!"
-
@The:
"Y" should just be a Dark/Flying (or Flying/Dark) type, in my opinion. I really don't want him as a dragon, because, when I first saw him, I thought of him as a giant vulture.
I have a feeling it'll just be flying type with a great ability/hold item
-
Also, the only thing tht made Team Rocket memorable to me was the fact that the game booklet obscured the identity of the final Gym Leader…who happened to be the leader of Team Rocket. My young self found that mindblowing. Now? Giovanni is just as generic in game like he is in the anime.(manga version being the best, since he was actually on the scene)
-
I liked Team Rocket because they were straightforward. Who wakes up and says to themselves "You know, geez, I wonder why there isn't more land. I mean, who even uses water anymore? Toilets? Nah. I should share the gift of land with the world. THE WHOLE WORLD. THEN NO ONE WILL TELL ME I'M CRAZY. AND MY WOMEN WILL FALL UNDER THE ILLUSION THAT MY GENITALS ARE INCREASED IN LENGTH AND GIRTH."
-
Team Rocket also has that famous, dark sub-story attached to it. They killed that poor little Cubones mother. ;(
-
Ghetsis wins points for me for being the only villain in the pokemon universe smart enough to try and straight out kill the protagonist with the legendary pokemon, and for actually using a device to make sure the player can't just capture the ultra legend he bent to his will (both happened in Black and White 2, though the killing part was changed in the localization)

But what if I bought Sapphire version instead?

Really? Wow. I wasn't aware of that. Ghetsis is more hardcore than I thought.

The best enemy team is Team Miror B.

…after playing Ruby/Sapphire I can't say I disagree with them...
-
@Cyan:
The best enemy team is Team Miror B.
I pretty much avoided bringing up Colosseum/XD because Cipher pretty much blows the handheld teams out of the water. At least until B/W2 with Ghetsis trying to kill the protagonist.
-
The Orre teams owned in general. Greevil was the evilest bastard in Pokemon until Ghetsis came farting around, only accented by the fact that he was essentially the Sid Meier version of Gandhi.
