How were the best scenes decided? Also, I love how the death of the going merry won first place over Ace's death
-
Oda's desk/studio is all kinds of random. But it has a certain charm. Definitely cool.
And those three Voice Actresses are hot.
-
I think Bon Kure's farewell and Hiriluk's death needed to be a bit higher :P , but the results were good anyways. Merry's death is worthy to be on the 1st position, no doubt.
-
I like the lady in red shoes!!!! pg 3 up-left corner
-
who is the voice actress in the middle picture?
-

There are 3 numbers in each scene. One for the place in the ranking, one for the numbers of votes and in the small colored boxes you have a third number. This number must be the number of the scene in a polling list for sure. So, "Going Marry's good bye" gets the first place (1th), with 1258 votes and it was the scene number 430 (small colored box).
So, first the presented a list with more than 600 scenes (place 21 in the ranking is the scene number 602), then readers voted and then they published the results.
I create this pasted version with the pages uploaded by Redon, for an easy overview.

I kinda feel like Jaya/Skypiea were shafted.

Thanks for assembling this image, and, of course, also to redon for always posting them.
Actually, the small number in the colored box is the chapter in which the scene occurred (e.g. 430話 means "Chapter 430").
-
Merry totally deserved first place. Loved the Vivi farewell. I found Bellemere and Whitebeard way to Law.
-
Just to let you know, the Anpan-man creator Yanase Takashi is not retired, at age 93 he is still drawing manga and storybooks for children, and sleeps about 6 hours a day.
Of course he's keeping an extremely healthy daily cycle of exercises and diet.
There are some incredible people out there.BTW, I heard there was an article in one of these One Piece Newspaper that Oda stated One Piece is roughly 60% through.
I'm trying to find the source of that info.EDIT: Ah, apparently it's this week's one. the one redon posted last page.
http://imgbox.com/abwMCpkx -
Really? 60%? That's farther along than I thought. I would have guessed like 53%.
-
I'm with Big Luffy, I thought we were at the lower 50s. I hope that 40% includes the tenth soon.
-
If the story has progressed to 60% then i am not surprised that Oda keeps the strength of the SHs hidden considering that we will probably only get another power up.
-
60%? Not bad at all! That means we will get roughly 1000 episodes! that's a perfect amount! Too much would be lame.
-
Wow this is the first time he's ever not said 50%…It's a Christmas miracle!
Also, say we round up to 700=60% through.
That means the series will run for 1167 chapters, give or take 10 in either direction.
Then say over the course of the series' run we average 44 chapters a year. That means One-Piece will run for 26 years. As 15 of those have passed, we have roughly 11 years left.Which means I'll be 32 when this series ends...I was 8 when my dad picked up the first volume while we were living in Japan and read it to me, because I didn't know Japanese...
Oh look at me, getting all nostalgic and sentimental. That's what happens when you realize you'll have spent 24 years of your life with a story.Dear lord when this series finally ends I'm going to be a mess.
-
Damn 11 years left. That's a lot, I just got into the series this summer and caught up to it in like 2 months.
-
Oh! It should be noted that 44 is not the average right now (that would be 46), as that comes out to 660 by this point (or back in August,) so it's about 30 off, but I went with 44, because Oda didn't use to take so many breaks, and I imagine as time goes on he'll be taking about as many as he took this year, so the average will slowly shift down to 44.
If it stays at 46 (which I really doubt) The series will end in December of 2023, so about a little over a full year earlier. (At 44, it'll end in February of 2024; finally, if it ends up in the middle at an average of 45/year the series will end in July of 2023)
My guess for the release date of the final chapter? February 19, 2024.
Also, math is fun.
-
Wasn't it said that the beginning of FI was half way? Does that mean that FI alone took up 10% of the story?
If so that's kind of disappointing. -
@nodensuke:

If so that's kind of disappointing.I thought the agreed upon halfway was Whitebeard's epic speech at the war?
Even if FI is that start of 50%, it's all of that arc and Punk Hazard that constitutes 10% of the story.
-
It's not an exact science by any means, and he actually said at least 60% through.
Reading the two editors interview couple of interesting notes
- Both editors testify they get scolded by Oda sometimes.
- Apparently when an editor is assigned to Oda, one of the first thing they experience is Oda telling them all the major secrets of One Piece, up to and incluing the end. (!!!)
….... QUICK SOMEONE KIDNAP ONE OF THESE EDITORS OR PAST EDITORS!
The editor said as a reader of OP, it's somewhat saddening to learn all the spoilers ahead of time. I can see that.
When asked what sucks about being editors, they both testified Oda's obsessive perfectionist attitude getting in the way of deadline lol.
Apparently just the other day, Oda missed the deadline and it was hell getting the chapter in time. Oda's attitude is "The chapter is done when it's done".
As for editoral inputs, Oda mostly uses the editors as "first readers to read his work". He observe the reaction of the editors as a measure of how the readers would react. They testify they don't contibute much to Oda's work, since neither of them have anywhere near the talent Oda has, and it's sometimes painful that they can only stand by and wait, unable to help, when deadline is pressing.Hattori says the most memorable scene of OP (for the chapters he was editing) was Sabo's comment about ashamed of his birth as a noble, and Dragon's shocked reaction to have such a young child come to that conclusion. It really drove home how talented a story writer he is.
-
You're probably right, I have a terrible memory for these kinds of details.
Oda's attitude is "The chapter is done when it's done".
Spoken like a man. Nice, Oda!
-
It's always fun to learn more behind the scenes stuff.
Yeah, knowing the end of OP years before is not cool :I Poor editors.

My two inners me:
me 1: I have the team and the toys. You tell me the names and I will take them!
me 2: Stop rigth there. I don't wanna know. I just want to find the One Piece with Luffy….
-
Part of me says that the spoilers should exist for people who want to know the basic rundown.
The other part of me says that if the spoilers did exist, I wouldn't be able to help myself.
-
Wow. The editors are told the big secrets of the manga.
That really is saddening.
While the idea of spoilers would be very (very very very very) tempting, having the entire big plot twists of OP revealed like that would be so disappointing. Especially for a big One Piece fan like me. -
The only time I would ever consider taking in the spoilers/big secrets would be if I was on my death bed/lost the ability to read. If I was a fan and got the chance to be an editor I would decline if there wasn't an option.
-
Maybe this is so that, even if Oda gets run over or something, there are still people who know what happens?
-
So there is a chance some spoilers have come out or will come out that is true? I'm going to be a sad fan, if I read those.
-
this might sound selfish but im glad some ppl now how it will turn out…if something were to happen to oda (i really dont want it to, honestly i really dont want anything to happen) someone could finish the manga up in his steed. one piece is my drug, and if one piece ended abruptly without me knowing the ending i would go into serious shock and depressing which could lead to fatality.
damn that sounds really selfish... i just want oda to be healthy and live a long life and finish one piece.
-

I'm sure this is true for most members.
But…Ehhh....Honestly, I'd probably just call it quits. That's just me though.
-
@The:

I think that if the editors have kept those secrets for this long, they'll probably keep keeping those secrets.
-
That would be dirty if the editors revealed the secret. I don't want to know what happens, i want to be surprised, so even if they did come out I would try my best to avoid them.
-
Question, what is the name of Oda's other editor? And do they have any difference in purpose?

Nobody will continue the manga in case something happens to Oda. Nobody have the ability to do that. I prefer it to end abruptly then being continued by someone who isn't on the same level as Oda.

i believe Oda has important facts and the basic ending written down somewhere….also crucial designs about Uranus,Raftel Island in rough sketches.....
if Oda dies i am sure nobody will dare to continue OP,but fans will get all those sketches, ideas, facts in a book.....
