Only thing I really want from this season is for them to ditch the 5/6 of show time spent on useless unengaging drama and more time on the main reason I started watching the show, zombie conflict. Also fingers crossed for dudes wife dying, I know it won't happen though, I just find her to be the most annoying character.

! I guess you haven't read the comics? :) In any case, you might be pleasantly surprised.
-
Love them hiding under the cars. Looking forward to that episode.
! Yeah. Looks like they get to the farm this season. I'm sure the old guy in the beard is Maggie's dad. Forgot when Tyreese first appeared in the comic. Forgot most of the comic details. Saw a quick scene of a prison, but no way they getting to the prison arch this season.
! What time in the trailer is a prison shown? I've been looking and haven't quite found it yet.
Also..something about the ending of the trailer is getting me a bit irked.
! Sophia is running, she obviously can't handle being quiet, she's a kid after all. But then Carol goes running after her…and then it's shown that she's crying...are they fucking killing Carl's girlfriend? I don't see Rick, so maybe he went down to stop the zombies from getting her. Also just noticed that Carol looks nothing like her comic counterpart, so her pretty much forcing sex on the dude is out of the question now. lol

I haven't read the comics but I'm aware that the series is loosely based on them(friend of mine told me some of the changes). Thanks for the bit of info, I'll be looking forward to good news.
-
Yeah, after they fired all the writers, and now this, I'm really starting to worry for this show.
-
Yeesh. :( This could suck.
-
The season 2 opener was excellent, the herd scene at beginning was absolutely heart-pounding and the zombies just sitting in the church was….interesting, I guess. But the ending, wow, just wow. I felt something bad was gonna happen, but not that.
-
This is one of the few shows on TV that I would classify as Must see now. The season 2 opening was incredibly exciting and tense with excellent acting and a few twists. I actually jumped a few times and that's rare for something on TV.
-
This episode was so boring. The first twenty or so minutes were great, everything else was eh.
-
! Christ that was boring.
! Pacing was bad last season and it looks like things haven't improved. Everyone doesn't need a monologue. I don't need false suspense just so you can set me up for some character interaction. I definitely don't need to see two armed fully capable men walk through the woods for 15 minutes just to find out that they didn't find anything, and i guess to show a dead body being cut open. It doesn't help that the zombie formula is extremely well worn and predictable territory. Add the fact that there's no real plot, just move from place to place (at least the CDC seemed like it might have some answers) and it seems like the show is supposed to rest on characters but aside from a few lines from Mrs.Suicide and Shane announcing his departure not much development took place.
! The ending was decent. But the setup was so drawn out I was almost thankful when that bullet went through him. Guns mean new characters and hopefully that plus dying kid adds some kind of structure and keeps those 15 minute scenes of nothing out of the picture for awhile. -
I'm with Taggerung on this one, except for I didn't think it was that boring. I thought the tension during the hide underneath the cars scene was good and it was nice to see people who would've killed each other last season help each other out.
-
I loved it.
Caution, Comic Spoilers:
! I love how this is how they get back on track with the comic. I was wondering how they were going to bring the Greene farm up. Glad to see they somewhat stuck with the comic.
Also, I'm kind of annoyed that Sophia is sill missing. This plot point is still ridiculously dragged out. Though I must say I'm sort fo gald she didn't just turn up after they prayed.
My bet is that she'll be on the farm.
Also, I'm still wondering how they're gonna kill of Shane. If that even happens this season.
I really really hope they still have Carl do it.Overall this was easily my favorite episode since the pilot. The herd scene was ungodly suspenseful.
Looking forward to next week.

Long spoiler stuff that dosn't fit on loneassassin's ps3
I agree with these statements. Though there is word going around that the season premiere was combined with the second episode (looking for Sophie) because most of the original premiere (dealing with the herd) shot by Darabont was unusable according to someone in AMC.

The people who think the series as boring is missing the entire point of the series. This isn't suppose to be one of your silly zombie movies.
-
A good start to the new season.
How many episodes will this season be, any1 know? -
There are 13 episodes this season.

The people who think the series as boring is missing the entire point of the series. This isn't suppose to be one of your silly zombie movies.
! Whats it supposed to be then? Because even from the people who liked it the best part of this episode was when it was acting like a typical zombie movie like the highway herd scene. The parts that are supposed to be interesting and not typical, the character development and interactions are mostly non existent or not interesting. They spend most of the 1.5 hour premiere (if you watched it on TV and sat through all those commercials) searching the woods for a girl they end up not finding. The only slightly interesting parts of these searches hinges on, you guessed it, zombie movie stuff. Tent with zombie, cutting open a zombie, smashing a zombies face in. All these zombie interactions have no tension because each time you know the character involved is fully capable of killing at least 5 of these slow, stupid creatures on his own and in 2/3 scenes they're armed to the teeth.
! I could go on but aside from suicide girls speech, shane announcing he was leaving, and the ending, what non silly zombie movie parts in this 90 minutes premiere were actually interesting.
! offtopic: your avatar is great -

I know. The Walking Dead is supposed to represent survivors, not the actual zombies. This is a story about people trying to survive in a horrible world where you don't know who you can trust and human life can be eradicated in a single moment. But that's the problem. For me to really want these people to survive, I want to find them to be interesting…..and only Greg is. I want the kids to live simply because they're children.
-
I'm not annoyed that there isn't zombie killing, it's just the character interaction, the main focus of the show, is just boring and feels forced at times. Lori's beef with Shane changed like three different times this episode. Hell, she was mad at him because he wasn't paying attention to her son. You know, the guy who just tried to rape her. But hey, I guess rape is okay after an apocalypse. Also, this episode focused on the two least important characters.
-

Yes, it's kind of like Jericho. Viewers missing the point and wanting to see "the war" got it cancelled.
-
This series had a slow first season, but has a lot of potential if they really amp it up this season. Personally, I thought it was a stupid idea to reveal what was causing people to turn into zombie's in the first season. I thought the question of "I wonder what the "zombie sickness" actually IS" was kinda cool and made it more realistic… until they showed their hand way early. I'm sure they have more surprises planned for us though.
-
i dont mind monologue but i'm kind of tired of just Rick all the time
he's not a particularly insightful guy at that sort of thing
-
Revealing what "makes" the zombies is a terrible hand to play in any zombie anything, since the zombies are not the point and nobody should ever, ever care why they exist.
They are tools to make the scenario and they should never become anything more important.
I feel like if a writer misses that vital key, they are not capable of keeping it going well for long. But since this show has a million writers we'll find out!
-
Second episode of the season was pretty strong, I think. For anyone who thought that during the last episode not much happened after the initial encounter with the zombies this episode had a lot more stuff going on to keep you interested, since we got to see more people all doing something.
! I'm excited for the next episode, even if most of that is wanting to see how the situation with Shane and Otis turns out.
-

Doesn't matter, the property of inverse quality means that the shittier this show gets, the more records it will break. Also means that the older zombies get, the more popular.
-
! I like the new doctor and i think his horse riding daughter has a lot of potential too. Otis seems like more baggage. Rick was really annoying this episode. Trying to argue that you should've leave your son when you're the only one who can give him blood an trying to argue that you should go rescue people after you've done two blood transfusions. That's just beyond stupid, and he's supposed to be the leader.
! Thank god for Shane. He's like Rick but an actual person instead of some incarnation of leadership of self-sacrifice. And Daryl was great too. "Am I the only one who's zen around here?" and his blue meth was a nice touch as well. I really like Dale, poor guy is stuck with some really shitty teammates though.
! Everyone else was doing their same old useless, saything every wrong at the wrong time, my life is hard, uninteresting stuff as always. I kinda wish Andrea would kill herself. The girl would stay lost forever and her mom would just get lost trying to find her. The black guy would die of blood poisoning. And Glenn would get some more screentime to do something cool like in the first season. How he went from leading Rick to being basically a non-existent person i don't know.
! Also Ricks wife loses the ability to speak. You don't really get to act like the only person with any kind of advanced medical training for hundreds of miles, isn't good enough to perform surgery on your son. Does she even realize people dissect animals so they can learn about how the human body works. Probably not because she's too busy trying to pick fights with everyone all the time.
! A man can dream though…. -
Shane is a dick. Nuff said.
-
yes he is….he'll probably dies this season, but I wonder if he'll die differently
-
I must say, I loved this eisode, if only because as a reader of the graphic novels, it threw me for a loop.
! I did not see Otis' death coming at all. It definitely wasn't supposed to happen till later in the comics. And the sais thing is: Otis was much more of a likeable character in the show.
Overall I thought this was a pretty good episode. I love how they opened the episode with what turned out to be the ending, and I loved the cut between Shane shaving his head and he flashback. Masterful directing right there.
Also, anyone watch The Talking Dead?
-
Awesome episode, probably the best overall episode since the pilot for me.
-
Though I didn't read the comics- I'm a huge fan of the show just for what it is.
That said,
! I called that Otis was going to die the second he agreed to go with Shane to the school. I dunno- he just seemed like the expendable type to me- likable, mild-mannered, agreeable, brave, smart- obligatory stuff. Though it would have been nice to see more of him, the fact he died wasn't a shock.
What WAS a shock, however, was HOW he died. I honest to goodness did NOT call that. I kept thinking the shock was going to be that the nick on Shane's head was a scratch from a walker and he was infected- so I kept boredly waiting for that.
But damn- that show never ceases to amaze me with the twists. I mean– people JOKE about that kind of death, but I never thought it would seriously get used! Nor did I think it would shock instead of humor me the way it did.
! Just a little thought to the other characters up to now: Lori has really become my least favorite. I can't say exactly why- I know that most of her fears and reactions, if not all, are merited. She just rubs me the wrong way.
Daryl is still a badass and my overall favorite.
Andrea....hmm- I keep bouncing between liking her and being annoyed by her. I understand she's under great mental stress after what's happened to her, between the death of her sister and being forced to stay alive by Dale-- but just...Iunno, she also kinda gets under my skin at points too.
Really hoping Glenn gets a little more screen time and characterization. He's still static to me.
Still love Dale, but his tendencies are getting under my skin a bit. "Do you forgive me?" Lay off, man. Come on.
With all the stuff going on, I somehow keep forgetting that little girl is still missing-- stupid since she's what started it all. But the character wasn't impressionable other than being...well, a kid. And as sweet as the mother is earlier in the show...she's not all that impressionable either. Not finding the little girl or her dying would be unfortunate- but wouldn't be to hard a hit to my interest in the show or my emotions.
Little boy is more impressionable, but again- other than being a child and the son of the main character, his presence really doesn't make me care all that much.
! Ok, so I know he's a total asshole-- but am I the only one who honestly wants to see Merle come back? If only to know what exactly the hell happened to him in the first place!i dont mind monologue but i'm kind of tired of just Rick all the time
he's not a particularly insightful guy at that sort of thing
Totally agree- I personally like how the second season is starting to put more emphasis on the other characters.
! Nectar, it's funny you should have brought up the possibility of what Jenner told Rick being that she was pregnant– I was actually pondering that possibility myself today. XD
Also- am I the only one who thinks that zombies should not be able to move that fast? Yeah it's still stumbly and slow, but come on. Seems just a taaad too snappy for my liking.
Another thing- did they ever say that scratching could infect? Because I keep seeing these characters get grabbed and pulled and yanked but miraculously never get scratched.! Also who else thought that T-Dog was infected when he got that fever? I thought maybe he could have gotten infected when Daryl threw that zombie onto him and that gaping wound of his.
-
Yeah i've been wondering about that wound and what kind of zombie rules we're dealing with here. Characters are punching and stuff which looks cool but if any zombie accidentally gets in their mouth or their eyes or any kind of opening do they become infected? We've seen them climb stuff in season one but they couldn't get up those bleachers here. I think they know how to work door knobs too but I don't remember and they move pretty fast for decomposing corpses. We've also seen that without food they can wither and starve, not to death, but to the point where they're harmless yet entire packs seem to strolling around extremely well fed. I'm not even sure if these questions should be asked for a show like this but they're there and they're a bit annoying sometimes.
! Anyway that was a pretty good episode. Still no clear direction. The boy is ok. The girl is still missing. Even if Shane is totally evil now he already said he was going to slip away and there's definitely no reason for him to stay now, in fact guilt should make him want to leave more. I was surprised that he actually did it. Anyone who has ever watched zombie movies could see what the best thing to do in a situation like that was. I was expecting Otis to sacrifice himself at one point, like when he went into the locker room (a locker room with large windows apparently? huh?) I thought that was his distracting sacrifice but no he kept on going. One of them had to die somehow and i knew it wasn't going to be Shane since we see him in the cold opening and then BAM, shit finally gets real. If this season forces some other characters to make decisions like this thing could be looking up.
-
In Guts, you actually hear Rick say not to get any zombie in your eyes or mouth or on your skin. It leads me to believe it can infect on contact– but after all i've seen with the struggling and split-second saves, apparently not.
Also- did that hanging zombie imply that zombies will eat other zombies- or was the skin off his legs eaten before the sickness took him? -

Zombies only go after living meat....Shcoking revelation at the end.....i understand why he did it, but it was very cruel...
A bullet in the head would have been far more merciful than the fate he left him to. -
Just watched 'Save the Last One'. Nice Shane, real nice. Dick.

A bullet in the head would have been far more merciful than the fate he left him to.Someone on "Talking Dead" brought up that the Zombies may only want to eat him while he was alive. Better chance for Shane to get away if Otis is screaming in pain on the ground attracting more Zombies.

Yeah, I'd just assume they were being cautious at that early point. Based on some of the statements from Kirkman, they seem to be going by the comic in terms of most of the infection rules, in which case it can be transmitted only through bites.
-
Oh shit at the preview for next week. Meryl is gonna have an axe to grind.
-
i don't watch the previews >_<

Other than Glen doing it with Bela from Supernatural this was a shit episode

Other than Glen doing it with Bela from Supernatural this was a shit episode
I KNEW I recognized her!
-
Oh my god that was her. Didn't realize either.
Much hotter as the sexually-promiscuous-because-we're-all-probably-gonna-die-so-I'll-let-this-nerdy-awkward-guy-have-some-fun farmer's daughter than as that mega-bitch on Supernatural…
But yes. Shit episode indeed. Not that zombie count necessarily relates to quality, but... c'mon. One zombie? Really? -
I had to hide my eyes when at the end of the well scene ugh. Glad I accidentally spoiled myself for that bit.

Ugh Bela. Lauren Cohen's role as Rose on The Vampire Diaries, after that and before The Walking Dead, made me forget about that:
Love the short hair on her though, compared to Bela. -
I'm tired of the little girl plot. Save her or blow her zombie head off.
! Nectar, it's funny you should have brought up the possibility of what Jenner told Rick being that she was pregnant– I was actually pondering that possibility myself today. XD
An easy guess. Lori got pregnant in the comic too.

Yet another episode where pretty much nothing happened.
Also, I was a split second from quitting the show
! I was raging the whole time about Darryl. He's by far my favorite character, and has been the only character that I haven't found annoying this season.
When I thought they had killed him I was livid.
! I'm glad he's alive, but I'm also kind of pissed about it, because this episode was progressing pretty well and him dying would have meant tat something had happened, but since he's alive all the progress they were making is gone.
Also, this episode relied solely on the shock of that one scene, so it has no rewatch value.
! Finally, I'm still ticked, because it looks like their going to take him down crazy lane which will still lead to a death unfit for the character. -
This is beyond annoying, they need to find the damn girl, dead or alive.
! Geez, Darryl sure had a shit day. I really thought he was dead when he got shot.
-
I wouldn't say nothing happened since it was a pretty character focused episode(on one of the better characters), and that's what the show is about… the characters. On top of that it managed to keep itself pretty engaging, so I didn't have much of a problem with this episode. Probably one of the better episodes this season, or at least that's what I feel like after having just watched it not too long ago.
! Daryl has been great, so it was looking pretty bad when it looked like he had been killed. Andrea isn't as bad as some of the other characers(at the very least she's not totally unbearable all of the time) but it's not like she's been fantastic either, so when it looked like she had killed him it wasn't helping my feelings about her… Glad it didn't turn out that way.
! I don't see how Daryl living suddenly makes it so any progress they made this episode is gone, that... Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They won't be finding the little girl any faster if he had died, so yeah.Try not to focus so much on the search for the girl, since it's just a reason for us to still be hanging around with these new characters and getting to see more of the group in action. Dead or alive, probably doesn't matter.
-
Pretty much the entire episode was dedicated to Daryl, his character development, and showing what a BA he is.
Oyus <3Needless to say- love that character so much. But anyway- I enjoyed the episode WAY more than last week– much more engaging and edge-of-seat. Which I like. Also- that ending. Holawd. So ready for next week to see what the hell that's all about.
@Nex:
Yet another episode where pretty much nothing happened.
Also, I was a split second from quitting the show
! Omg same. So close to rage-quitting the whole thing. Was flipping my shit the whole time. Flipped even worse when he almost got shot. But I have to say– it was a clever scene. Having Andrea unable to distinguish him because of the grime he was covered in. Also, following banter between her and Dale got a chuckle out of me:
"I shot Daryl."
"It's ok. I think we've all wanted to shoot Daryl."Also:
! Although i'm happy he survived…wasn't the zombie, like, chewing on him? I know they didn't show it close up or anything- but it damn sure looked like it from a distance. And sounded like it. Have to say I kinda called Bullshit when he pulled back and didn't have a mark from the zombies on him anywhere- especially if we're to assume the hallucination was a zombie the whole time.
These 'close calls' are getting a little ridiculous, if you ask me.
