Wow, I'm surprised Nami lost to Rayleigh, but at least this time there were campaigners on both sides…

Nah, you haven't failed anybody, nothing to worry about. We'll just win it next year!

I appreciate the sentiment, but I can't help but feel really bad.
-I've been supporting Nami since the beginning
-She's the character I've really campaigned for
-I really wanted her to be champsighs Next year, then. Next year, we'll be ready, Nami fans.
Now I'm at a loss. Who do I support to be champ now? Zoro? Crocodile? Bon-chan?
@zachri:So Nami actually lost?
She actually.
What.
I.
I must see this.
[/checks]
THREE VOTES EEEEEEEEY?Once again, the number three likes to torture me. :(
Go ahead and gloat, you've earned your right.
sulks again

Likewise, it IS frustrating which is why right now I'm playing some games to vent some of that frustration lol but it'll pass. As long as you had fun, don't let it bother you too much.
@MetaMario:Now I'm at a loss. Who do I support to be champ now? Zoro? Crocodile? Bon-chan?
Yeah, kinda this. Frankly, as long as Law and Rayleigh don't win it, I'll be more or less content with the winner.
-
Nami lost….
Don't really care who wins now. I'll just be voting randomly.
-
Now I'm at a loss. Who do I support to be champ now? Zoro? Crocodile? Bon-chan?
Eneru :3
Bon Chan is neat choice too.
I'm fine with either of them honestly. -

Yeah, I DID have fun…...but yeah, I could use the chance to chill and release my grief.
All in all, it was a good run. The campaigns were amazing.
Yeah, kinds this. Frankly, as long as Law and Rayleigh don't win it, I'll be more or less content with the winner.
…..Hell, I'm on board for this too.

@Nia:
That's not how a 45-year-old is supposed to behave, Sir Dippingsauce.
I was gonna reply continuing the "depressed sore loser" schtick, but your sig has distracted me.
'Tis glorious.
Aw well, win some, lose some. I'm now 90% backing Crocodile, with Enel as my second choice. Let's make these two the finalists, mkay? :3
-
Didn't expect Rayleigh to make a comeback like that, but wow!
At least, everyone made their vote count.
-
I'm now 90% backing Crocodile, with Enel as my second choice. Let's make these two the finalists, mkay? :3
Sounds like a great plan to me!
-
Do you really want to ruin the tournament like that? Good heavens no. D:

was already planning on doing just that.
its time for Croc to claim the title of King… of AP tourney 2012 -

If he can beat Zoro, sign me up for this.
-
Oh yeah. Whitebeard could win again too.
1st choice: Eneru or Bon-Chan
2nd choice: Whitebeard
3rd: Not sure. I don't care much for Zoro or Croc, but if I flip a two-sided coin, I'll put heads on Croc. -
Eneru and Bon-chan are my favs to win now too , for the rest I really hardly care
-
It's pains me much that Nami lost like that.
But what is more of a nuisance to me right now is that the ray-hate is turning towards Lawfare, which I find absurdly unfair. Namely because Rayleigh is in this round without much campaigning, whereas the Law camp has proven their worth campaign-wise. Against the likes of Luffy, Usopp and Robin.
I'm sorry, but just like it was irksome that Jinbe lost to Ray, basically a slap in the face of the awesome Jabra campaigns. And I feel whitebeard lasting with barely any campaigns is a slap in the face of the ridiculously elaborate and entertaining Law campaigns.
Even though I don't like Enel much, I'd be just as irked if people were "man, nami lost, we should all hate-vote against enel, even though the sheer effort of the campaigns is relatively, absurdly good."
If you've always felt that way, cool, but passing on hate towards Law due to manglaze is just kind of a bitch move. And yes, I think I'm letting this get to me more than it should.
Summary: stop this tournament, I want to get off ><
-
Let me just make one thing clear to Team Lawfare.
I've been against you guys and stuff, and I'm still sore Nami lost, but hey, if Law can win, all the better luck to him. I don't really want him to win, but I can respect the amount of great campaigns and dedication to push him in through. So…..yeah, good luck, guys.
(I won't vote against him out of spite or anything like that)
-
I voted Whitebeard due to campaigns and seeing angry Law fans.
-
Voted WB not because I absolutely wanted to but I just do not like law at all.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
…..Hell, I'm on board for this too.
Count me in as well.
-
I voted for Whitebeard. Because I have a pink bathroom.
-
I voted for Law because I wanted to. Whoa. :O
-
-
I didn't vote. :cwy:

Aww, thank you. I'm surprised people still remember that match, especially because the whole tournament was so full of win so far. I really wish people would pay more attention to campaigns before placing their vote tho.
Because even if the staff highlights again and again that this is a popularity contest, campaigns are what make this tournament so unique and entertaining. Hell, they are the very reason why I registered over a year ago (after a good period of lurking). -

What WB did in the manga is campaign enough. He doesn't need fanart to be amazing.
-
I voted Whitebeard after I flipped a coin.
Couldn't decide between both characters, so I left it up to fate.
-

I really do like your reasoning. I've also voted Whitebeard but for more mundane reason. I just love him and respect him so much (and his crew to).
-

Same here. I'm sure there's plenty of others. But the thing is; I campaigned quite a bit last year for multiple characters and planned to do the same this year. I even propagated the idea the people should look more closely at the campaigns before voting. Fast forward a year, and I hardly have any time to log in and vote, let alone campaign. Heck, there have been quite a few matches this year where I looked at the first page and voted who I liked better anyway. Is it hypocritical of me? I guess, But I can't really help it. I'm sure a lot of others are in a similar situation where they can't sift through all the pages to see which side has the better campaigns overall.
To summarize;
Yes, campaigns add to the fun
Yes, they require time and effort
No, we can't really make people pay more attention to them. Especially if the campaigns run on for 10+ pages. -
Nami lost cause of Lawfare? pfffffffft
That's giving far too much credit!
Dont forget who holds the power. -
This argument is retarded and should get dropped real quick..

Yeah, I'm familiar with that manoeuvre, hehe. But the first page is where the party's at.

Even the first page? :ninja:

I don't even remember why or when I got sucked into this tournament stuff.
Or why it … escalated so dramatically. -

I just remembered something…
no more BONEL STYLE... :( -

wont exactly work in a bon vs enel match

Wow, I'm impressed!
Sometimes it's hard because one of those mods is quicker in posting something on the first page.. They use black magic.

Really? I favour "black magic" simply because I like everything better in black :ninja:

I hope that's a fancy word for art/craft and whatnot… else I'll have to reach for my pitchfork and torches.

Thats what i always try to do, its the first impression and gets the most notice. And i wont have to spam them too much if people can see it well the first time around.

Campaigns sure make tournament interesting but in the end they are only for people who are not sure whom to vote for or who are easily sway-able. If a character is still in tournament without any campaigns it just goes to show how much lasting impression it made in manga. There is nothing wrong in voting for whom you like even if you don't campaign for him/her.

Campaigns do serve a role though. Some characters are not in the collective conscious as much but amazing campaigns make them staples of AP. Moriah is not particularly loved from his role in the series as much as the way his character became perceived thanks to campaigns.
Ace is another cool example. Normally popular, he took a hit from his manga behavior. This year, however, the Ace fans did a great job of referring back to what people liked about Ace in the first place, the fact it's such a silly character.
The campaigns you choose has a lasting impact on how the character is perceived by members here.
