Ha! That avatar is great. Did someone end up rocking a Hattori Cap avatar?
I dunno about Hattori, but Bobart was most of the Avengers through June.

it's become some kind of unspoken law that Bobart and Hattori are like mirrors of each other.

Hah. The more i look at the Hawkeye avatar of urs, the more i like that. Its awesome and adorable.
I'd just like to take a moment and point out that we now have LESS THAN A MONTH until The Avengers is released on DVD/Blu-Ray/HD/3D/whatever else.
Also, apparently with the 4-disc set, you also get a free digital album download along with the digital movie download. And for those of us who forgot/missed the special features/extras list for the release (items with * excluded from single DVD release, and non of this is confirmed for the 10-disc Phase One set):
- Audio Commentary by Director Joss Whedon
Featurette's
- “Assembling the Ultimate Team”
- “A Visual Journey” *
Deleted Scenes *
- Alternate Opening - Maria Hill Interrogation
- Extended Scene - Loki & Barton Strategize
- Steve Rogers - Man Out of Time
- Nick Fury & World Security Council
- Extended Viaduct Fight - Raw Footage
- Fury & Hill Discuss the World Security Council
- Extended Scene - Banner and Security Guard
- Alternate Ending - Maria Hill Interrogation
Other Features *
- Marvel One-Shot: Item 47
- Second screen
- Gag reel
- Soundgarden music video - “Live to Rise”
That's a lot of SHIELD in the Deleted Scenes. And there was already too much in the movie.
I like how * indicates if something won't be on the DVD release…and everything has an asterisk next to it.
I'm assuming if the menu item itself has a * next to it, it's not included?

Pretty much; the basic DVD release is definitely basic in terms of extras. XD;

Friggin' awesome.
That is the best news ever.
Freakin love Eccleston.
Still a better movie than DKR :ninja:
Spider-Man 3 is a better move than DKR.
Eccleston~
All the more reason to be excited for Thor 2~
So.. I FINALLY get a chance to see this movie in good quality. On a plane in 1 1/2weeks.
And hey, I only paid 1200€ for it! lol
if it's good, I'm gonna watch it for 13h. And then another 6h.
Here is your news of the day: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/07/joss-whedon-returns-for-avengers-2
Not only will he be writing and directing the Avengers sequel, he will also be developing a new TV show for ABC, possibly allowing him to make his very first show that won't be cancelled.

What, Buffy making it for 7 seasons and Angel for 5 don't count?
Don't worry in season 2 of Avengers TV thor will get attempted dateraped by the hulk and captain america will develop a robot shaped like tony stark that he starts having sex with.

Why do people WANT Joss Whedon shows to not get canceled have you people seen what happens when he gets a footing

Both were cancelled at five seasons. Buffy was picked up by a different network.

Angel got better as the series went on. Dollhouse's second season were Whedon was allowed to do whatever he wanted was better than the restricted first season. The latter seasons of Buffy had dumb stuff, but they also had one of the most genuinely real, no nonsense death related episodes ever put on TV and a glorious musical episode.

I am dancing around my room I am so happy. I don't really care about the TV show though. I moreso want Dr. Horrible 2 and Wastelanders.
This is great news! I'm glad he's on for the sequel. Wonder what the TV show will focus on? You need the right kind of hero for a TV show. A Hero for Hire show would be awesome. Luke Cage and Iron Fist hitting the streets. They might try something like a Runaways show; it could be good, but I'd see that as more of a risky move.

…all shows get cancelled eventually. A run of more than 3 years is generally considered a successful run. Even shows like Star Trek get cancelled in 3-7 seasons. It's pretty damn rare any series gets to 10 or 11 years, and that's really the upper limit for almost anything with one single cast.
Except for The Simpsons, that zombie'll be lurching around long after I'm dead I suspect.

Yeah, but Futurama has been canceled at least 3 different times to make up for it.
I really want a Coulson show (ir just S.H.I.E.L.D.)
I've said this before elsewhere, but in Iron Man, Coulson says it isn't his first rodeo, and in Iron Man 2, Fury says Tony isn't the only superhero.
So why not show off other heroes through S.H.I.E.L.D.?

To be fair, Buffy should have ended at Season Five anyway. That whole season was amazing, I have a hard time picking between it and Season Three for my favorite. The only reason I'm glad Buffy continued is because we got Once More with Feeling, though Whedon did want to do it while the show was on WB, but they wouldn't let him.

Personally thought SHIELD was the worst part of The Avengers. That being said, is SHIELD really marketable any more? My father loved Nick Fury, sure, but is the comic still really going strong? Thought Fury kind of died out with the end of the GIJoe era.
(oh, but I definitely agree that Coulson was great)
I hope Fury dies in the next movie lol.
I have to wonder if all this Coulson love would exist if he had lived. Because I never heard people talking about Coulson until The Avengers.
I enjoyed Coulson once he proved to be a recurring character in IronMan 2. His fanboying over Cap would've made him lovable, death scene or no.
@Nex:

He was fun in the Iron Man movies, but this was the biggest role he's had. Combined with the Coulson Featurettes, this is the first chance we've had to really like him as more than just a curiosity.
Oh yeah, Coulson would have been loved as much if he lived, that's the reason why his death works so well. Not only was his death powerful enough to bring together most of the team, but the viewers have seen him in almost every Marvel movie. He was a fun guy that provided comic relief while still being a huge badass.
While I'm not familiar with the character, some are saying that Coulson should be brought back as Vision.
I guess I'm just weird, as I found Coulson to be annoying in Iron Man 2 (though that goes for about everything in that movie) and meh in Thor. His love of the Cap was kind of sweet, but I felt like the character was used to get laughs from the audience and then was discarded Maes Hughes style. I felt like his only purpose in The Avengers was to die. I still liked his character and was sad to see him go, but I couldn't even remember his name going in to The Avengers.
Like I said, maybe I'm just weird.
the Coulson Featurettes
Those were pretty fun. It was kinda cool seeing a more capable side to Coulson since the main movies have him more comic relief.
I'm sure they're on youtube…here we go.
!
!
Welp, I found the bad news in all this: "Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015."
This means no original Whedon properties till all of this is done. Hopefully, this pardons Dr. Horrible 2 and Wastelanders since they'll most likely be online properties, but still, the money must have been really good for Whedon to agree to this, especially if you heard him talk at his comic con panel this year.
This means In Your Eyes will be the last Joss Whedon thing we see till Avengers 2, and it might not even get a wide release…
I shudder to imagine this happening with the eventual third film.
I just want Wastelanders!! I've been waiting for it for years!

if marvel movie contracts are anything like Marvel comic contracts, all that means is
a)he's guaranteed work
and
b)he can't do anything for DC.
Anything personal that he has time for he should still be able to do, though obviously writing and directing Avengers 2 by itself it going to eat a LOT of his time, at least a solid year.
People with exclusive Marvel contracts work for other comic publishers and on pet projects all the time, just… nothing for DC. And vice versa.
I felt like his only purpose in The Avengers was to die. I still liked his character and was sad to see him go, but I couldn't even remember his name going in to The Avengers.

Nah. He was just "that guy" until he started fanboying over Cap and got a lot of fun moments in Avengers… and then the mini-films that I think most people didn't even know about until after.
After his Avengers time you realize in hindsight how much exposure he had, and there's all these little indicators that he was secretly badass and we never knew.
Please Coulson is not dead. Fury is a spy, a manipulative smart and deceiving spy. Fury took Coulson's Captain America Cards and lied about them being in his pocket when he died. So what's stopping him from lying about Coulson's off screen death.
Besides take this however you want

I believe it. Coulson doesn't seem like the kind of guy to blindly walk into a direct confrontation with a Norse god.

Coulson's dead. You know how I know? Because Whedon wrote it. The only way you come back from the dead when Whedon is your writer is iff you're the main character. And you're named Buffy.
And that link is from almost a full year ago. It has no true weight on the events that have transpired.
If Coulson did manage to live, then Loki's an even worse villain than he already is.
Actually, Whedon confirmed that Coulson dying wasn't actually his idea.
Maybe they gave him a robot heart or something courtesy of Stark Industries.
Or maybe they found a way to revive him using Asgardian technology.
What? It's comic books(movies), they can find a way to bring anyone back from the dead. (Colossus, anyone?)
Whedon was forced by editorial to bring Colossus back though. I'd like to think that the people in charge of the movieverse have a little more integrity.
I'll admit, I was happy that Colossus came back, because I really liked Colossus. And X-Men is notorious for un-doing character death, so I'm not even surprised anymore.
Wasn't Colossus the central figure in that whole arc? There's a character arc for Cyclops, sure, but Colossus was the key in the whole alien storyline.
I believe it. Coulson doesn't seem like the kind of guy to blindly walk into a direct confrontation with a Norse god.
He did take a giant scary gun.
And had control of the situation till Loki did his illusion backstabbey trick.
I thought there was a huge rumor that Coulson…
[hide]…was going to become Vision.[/hide]
I'm curious what Whedon is going to do. Possibly a SHIELD show, but if anything, I'd hope he'd do Heroes for Hire. Have an awesome show with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and a few others.
I thought there was a huge rumor that Coulson…
[hide]…was going to become Vision.[/hide]
Complete fan speculation based on absolutely nothing from Marvel itself… other than the Avengers team historically having certain team members.
Although
! there was that off hand comment about facial scanning. …And Tony's crack about the Life Model decoy.
! I wouldn't feel entirely cheated if he did come back as Vision, but wasn't really the same, or him. Of course, that's the story of Robocop, so...
But just because Fury made Coulson's death more personal with the cards, to specifically get to Tony, doesn't mean he faked the whole thing. Coulson's dead, we had that long sustained shot on it for a reason. Loki killing 50 nameless off-screeners meant very little… that was when it got personal.
! If they were to bring in Ultron, I'm sure they could use him to bring Coulson back as Vision to use him against the Avengers.
