Hey, so i searched google (and apforums) to see if anyone made this post, but i didn't find anyone so i thought i'd get everyones opinions. What arc did you like the least?
What arc did you NOT like?

I didn't care much for Thriller bark or amazon lily.

You can now vote, i added a poll. (Sorry didn't include amazon lily because it was such a small arc and i didn't have space)

Amazon Lily felt like an enormous vat of fanservice.
Marineford… I felt like I had to remind myself to read each chapter. -
I have to say that I don't find a single arc I honestly dislike.
However, for sake of discussion, I think Loguetown was a bit too rushed. Don't get me wrong, it was still an amazing arc. I just think it went by waaaay too quickly. I understand though it was to get the SH crew into the Grand Line by chapter 100, but still.
But honestly, I don't have the heart to choose anything from the polls. I really don't dislike any arcs in this series.

I feel the same way in some cases.. But there were times were i just wanted to skip it all, but didn't thankfully. Like Skypia was fun to watch but there were a lot of episodes just wasting time. Same with Thriller Bark, i loved all the arcs but some episodes in arcs i didn't like. So i picked the Thriller Bark Arc. Although the davy fight back wasn't the most interesting, it was funny and just a joy to watch.

If you don't want to worry about pacing, just skip to the manga man.
-
I have tried to read manga many times, but when i can't see the fights, it doesn't feel the same.
-
wait, you don't read the manga?!
I'm okay with most arcs, actually. Amazon Lily was too fanservice-y, but the Luffy vs. Amazon women fight made it slightly better.
-
Okay someone here voted Little Garden.
I demand answers.
-
inb4 NONE THEY'RE ALL PERFECT AND SPECIAL I LOVE ONE PIECE ITS PERFECT

LOL, i doubt they'll answer to you.. your too scary :D..
@ Trappel nah. I don't read manga, but i do read, wikipedia, apforums (manga section), and know what happens. =/ I just don't wanna read manga and ruin the soon to be fights for me. But i admit, i have read many chapters, liked it, it's just because i don't like the way the fights show. Other then that i love manga.
-
Loguetown was too rushed.

uggggggghhhh

@Cyan:
Loguetown was too rushed.
uggggggghhhh
Yea i know, ew, anime-only watcher :D. It's ok, ill learn to read manga for the sakes of my rep here :D.
-
Why do people call me trappel? :wassat:
@Silvers: Reading on wiki and apforums isn't quite the same though. And don't you get spoilered that way?
I agree about Loguetown being rushed. I went "wait, they're leaving already? But all they did was run around a lot!"
Thriller Bark was another kinda weird one for me.
-
Yes it isn't quite the same, and yes i get spoiled. But i get to join conversations here. And people call you trappel because i don't know why but when we see your name we see trappel. (instead of trapped of course :D i just noticed).
(On a sidenote, lougetown was short because they didn't want to show Smoker, Dragon, or Buggy's allies, or Tashigi too much. It was all sort of foreshadowing (a bit) of who is what.
-
I don't like Skypiea Arc. Too slow i guess
-
Let the bloodshed begin…sigh
-
Enies Lobby
Though honestly I don't really dislike any arc, but there are some I like less than others. Mostly EL, it didn't really feel like One Piece to me when I was reading it. I would say DBF as well but I have yet to see it in its entirety .
-
There should exist the option NONE.
Sure, some arcs are far better than others, but nothing really bad, let alone hateable.
-
Ready the cannons!

Defidently because Oda wanted the Grand Line adventure to officially begin at Chapter 100. Everybody knows about the cut Daddy the Father chapter right?
-
I have no clue why I didn't like the Baratie Arc that much…however, we are introduced to Sanji and his back story is told which are the high points of that arc for me.
-
I would like to start by saying that there really aren't any arc's that I 'dislike' all in all. But I do have my minor squabbles with them.
Arabasta It's a great arc. One Piece's first truly epic arc. The first truly immense arc on the SWs tour through the Grand Line. But I am tired of it. The more I read/watch it the more its flaws come out to me. I just feel like have spent way too much time thinking about Arabasta (what with the multiple re-reads and re-watched and the god awful movie 8). Also - in my view- the 'Arabasta' arc sort of feels like the 'Crocodile' arc or rather the 'Baroque Works' arc (seeing as we were introduced to the BW way before Arabasta and Whisky Peak) this heavily adds to my feeling of the Arabasta arc dragging. The climactic fights are also a bit of a letdown for me. Well, not all of them, mostly just Sanji's and Nami's. It's not that Arabasta is a weak arc it's just that I don't think it has the greatest re-play/re-read value. When I am reading threw the series I am always so happy to get to volume 24 and start off on something non-Arabasta related.
Thriller Bark It's an arc with a lot going for it. But it also always feels very unbalanced. I can't really explain it but that's the feeling I always have reading it. Moria also doesn't quite inspire the fear or sense of threat that a Rob Lucci or a Crocodile does. Also, the art tends to feel off to me for some reason in a lot of the panels with Oz. I love reading the SHs take on an enemy as a team but like I said, there is something about the art that just doesn't feel right. It's just a weird arc.
^^the above are simply mild problems I have with what I perceive to be the 'major' arcs in One Piece. I don't see any need in criticize the shorter arc's of One Piece (like Laboon, Davy Back Fight, Little Garden). If you have a problem with those arc's at least they are short and you can just read threw them as quickly as possible.

I can aunderstand what you mean here a bit. The collection of arcs from Laboon to Alabasta is basically referred to as the Baroque Works Saga anyway so…
Either way, I still read through it joyfully when I am. Mostly because I can't dislike One Piece. And I bet Movie 8 would've sucked hard for me if I had seen it in Japanese. I only liked it a bit due to me having the Uncut Funimation version and I was excited about watching English One Piece done right.

I'd chalk that up to Oda's art style noticably changing as it went along… but that's just the way I saw it. Still, I agree with this a bit too.
-
Guys, i don't dislike any, the title should be liked the least, but meh. I would put an option for none, or include more arcs (such as Baratie) but common you can't hate on those ;D. If i put "none" everyone (including me) would click that one. So put which one you liked the least.
-
i so far like a lot the current arc… i cant wait to see what happens next (never read the manga) to be honest i would like to see luffy getting really beated up and maybe almost dead or in coma for like years LOL. its kinda boring seing chapter after chapter knowing the outcome: luffy will defeat the enemies even if they are gods. lol
but i really like the amount of characters that are @ the current episodes.
by the way, i wonder what happend to nami, zorro, etc i dont see them in the latest chapters. -
^^ just like Luffy defeated Aokiji?
-
^^ just like Luffy defeated Aokiji?
lol i meant episodes.
but yeah !! grrrr luffy that peasant lol
:getlost:
i wonder how powerful is luffys grandfather, did he ate any devil fruit?? -
er…I am not used to talking to anime-only fans. I don't want to ruin anything for you so I think it's best if I just stay quite. btw when I said "Just like Luffy deafeated Aokiji?" I was referring to when you said "luffy will defeat the enemies even if they are gods." but I guess I should have made that more clear. Anywho.
-
Prolly Impel Down. Mostly because there wasn't any real chemestry between the characters. The Strawhats just aren't right without one another :P
Aside from that tho, it was still pretty awesome.
-
Thriller Bark no fucking contest.
Not bad in concept, but the entire sequence felt terribly unmotivated. Two of the three enigmas and even Ryuuma were ridiculous letdowns. General zombies being fodder jobbers was heartbreaking. In the end it was just a vehicle for Brook to join, but in that regard it was just too cookie-cutter (compared to, say, Franky and the events of W7/Enies Lobby). The only good part was when Kuma did his stuff, which is as if to say "Ok, TB was shit so let's highlight that by showing an awesome non-TB-related character doing some awesome things."I'm curious what happens when the "Skypiea had no greater affect" crowd applies their "logic" to TB. I'd say those two arcs are about equal in that respect, except that I enjoyed Skypiea much more.
…and the people voting DBF can go take a long walk off a short plank.
-
Davy Back fight.
Also Enies Lobby because Sogeking didn't defeat anyone important.
-
Didn't like the Davy Back Fight arc as much as the others.
Can't vote :(
-
^ Hah. You'll vote one day. And i agree with the "Davy Fight back" and "Thriller Bark" Comments.
-
Thriller Bark was just far too long. Had it been about Drum's length it would've been nice. The anime made things even worse when it ran for 50 episodes, far longer than Alabasta, which was twice TB's length in chapters. :\
-
Amazon Lily and Little Garden. I really couldn't get into the giants for some reason and it felt like a waste of time to me.
Amazon Lily for obvious reasons. -
Whitebeard War for me. I just found it boring and just dragged on for way too long.
-
Now that I think about it, I havn't enjoyed the arcs without the full straw hat crew as much as the ones with them. Probably because of the bond, teamwork and relationships between them.
-
Sakonosolo, your icon is distracting.
I'm gonna list the arcs I felt were less fun to read than the others (sorted from "good but flawed" to "just not as good".)
Loguetown Arc: It's already been said, it just felt too rushed. Sure, it was rushed for obvious reasons, but still ended way too fast.
Whitebeard War: It dragged horribly at times. Maybe it's just because I followed it by reading one chapter a week, it probably won't be as bad when reading it in form of the manga volumes. A lot of stuff happened, true, but it still felt very slow at some points.
Thriller Bark Arc: Again, awfully slow. Reading one chapter each week probably is the reason for this as well. Thriller Bark was interesting and funny to read, but there were many letdowns (that were already mentioned in posts before mine).
Amazon Lilly Arc: Fanservice, way too much fanservice. One Piece has a lot of it, it's everywhere. I know. I'm not against it at all. If I was, I wouldn't read it. But the overall feeling I got from this WHOLE Arc was just fanservice to the max. It got boring pretty fast. Thankfully the arc itself was very short, so it's not as bad.
-
Didn't care much for Amazing Lily and the beginning of Drum.
-
Voted Thriller Bark. As it's been said, it was rather draggy and felt too forced.
-
wow im rather surprised and pleased that people seem to dislike thriller bark…
*cue the perona nutjobs
-
I can't really say. Maybe lougetown or impel down. To be honest I've liked every chapter that's come out since I've started reading.
-
-
Skypiea Arc, Thriller Bark, Jaya, and the war.
Those weren't awful, I got a lot of laughs at some moments.
But they weren't really that good. From my opinion. Why can't I vote? How do you create polls? Sorry for the Noob questions.
-
What, you don't like insane Maka  ?
That's not it, I just can't stop staring at it whenever I come across one of your posts. :ninja:
Why can't I vote? How do you create polls? Sorry for the Noob questions.
New members can't vote/create polls right away. You have to meet a few requirements first. I don't know what exactly those are, but as long as continue staying active here you will be able to vote sooner or later.
-
I wanted to vote for Enies Lobby, however DBF and Impel Down were pretty bad, too.
I actually like TB, sure it was a letdown but not as much as Enies Lobby or Impel Down for me.
-
im not positive, but i think that the reason not a lot of people are fans of davy back is because it never gets ultra-serious, and its self-contained. In other words, not with lasting repercussions in the story, and it doesn't really link to a major saga. I for one loved it, though. It had a nice fun relaxing vibe to it, while still including some rather nice fights. Sure, the anime filler in the middle of it wasn't good, but the manga made a good show of it. Davy Back seemed a bit more like a return to the 'pirate' culture and nature of one piece and I enjoyed that. And, of course, Davy Back was chock-full of humor and jokes. Good stuff.
-
I always find DBF to be a fun read. I mean it's barely over a volume (I think) how can you complain about that (I didn't care for it much in the anime though)? However (^^) I do think it has it's serious moments. Luffy v. Foxy had some serious moments, that's for sure. I enjoyed it, it's a lot of fun, not sure what peoples problems are with it (unless they are anime-only then the filler gets old and Foxy is more annoying so I understand that a bit.)
