Maybe to take care of Raven Tail ? I mean, Gajeel is there after all.
This would be too cool to happen, except for Jello in the group fighting some Raven Tail guys.

Raven tail's guild sign looks so mediocre. :S
Raven tail's guild sign looks so mediocre. :S
I compeltely didn't notice it.
Looks like…...a tap dancing dwarf ?

It reminds me of some villain logo from Megaman for the robots, like the Wily logo or the Doppler logo, for example…
@Oga:
The fact that Natsu and co have become stronger by pretty much taking steroids is still really annoying to me. Especially with the so called B team actually putting in hard work to improve. Ugh, whatever.
Friendship speech power > hardwork . According to the FT world ofc.
Oh, so Mavis really can tell who's in the guild and who isn't. Well, I guess it wasn't that hard to see coming. Okay chapter, even with the Fairy Tail Team B thing (atleast we'll get Laxus and Gajeel, but, really Gajeel, oh dear…).
Raven Tail's mark is just a fashioned R.
@No:
Most of Natsu's victories so far are obtained by random powerups, the last of which may have been explained recently, but then again, it all depends on if Hiro forgot or not. The thing I hate most about him as a main character is that he never realy progresses on his own, and the one time he tries to do that, Hiro forcebly imposes his powerup on him anyway.
Usually, I wouldn't really give a shit. It's just that this time Gajeel and Juvia and their team will probably get beat by Sabertooth or whatever big bad guild comes along near the end, giving Natsu a chance to go all bs powerup on us again. It's unfair is all.
What would be really satisfying though, is if the B team actually become FT's main participants in the tournament. 'Cos they deserve it. Won't hold my breath though.

Considering Hiro promised to bring Wendy back in for the finals…..don't.

Yep. I don't have high expectations for this arc, or the series as whole for that matter, so I'll read it week by week and just go with whatever bollocks Mashima churns out.
Who needs Mystogan when you have Gerard fight instead.
Who needs Mystogan when you have Gerard fight instead.
Maybe he run won't away in a critical moment when the lives of several hundred people are in the ballance simply because someone saw his face.
well that ruined all our ideas on who the masked man or raven tail was

It's realy Mystogan.
Mashima trumps himself by having two Gerards in the same arc :ninja:

That would be wonderful.
I expect Raven Tail to have nice sets of magic, especially the armor guy.
If this would be Mashima's way to let the other guildmembers to shine, I'd be okay with this. However, it's really unlikely that Mashima will let other, more competent people to overshadow his boring helpless mains. So, another no-win situation.
Why loli guildmaster is relevant again?
And come on, Mashima, don't drag this and just let Jello be the next nakama. This is going to be a thing.
What should happen is that Mashima should have Team B go against Raven Tail and Team A go against Sabertooth but that's not going to happen. Team B is just the fodder team to hype up whoever Team A is going to face in the finals.
Well, I liked this chapter. Lotta questions got answered.
I think the masked man for Raven Tail is Cobra.
I don't mind the retcon, at least we get to see a cool team. Swap Erza and Juvia, and that would be the dream team.
Team B should be Team A and main cast.
That steroid boost is really going to linger over this whole competition, but I'll end up looking over it since it's mostly lulz anyway, excited to see B team although I think they should really be called Fairy Tail's A-Team, while their arrival/entry was a surprise to everyone, they did in fact qualify higher than Natsu's team, look more badass and likely trained more legitly. Atleast an all dragon-slayer final bout looks possible, that's something to look forward to.
Nice to see Mashima troll the other characters in the story. I mean recent amendments for the tournament that FT happens to capitalize on lol.
Jellal/Gerard being on the team is a stretch though. Wasn't their some rule about all participants having to have the guild crest on them?
He's acting as mystogan

NO, the guild crest was only something that allows people to see Mavis the first guild master.
Nothing to do with the tournament. SO Jellal, Jerall, Gerard, whatever his name is, can not see Mavis
Doesn't feel right with Mavis being there. Definitely takes away from the mystery and intimidation surrounding the first leader.

Isn't Mavis essentially what Cait Shelter's guild leader was. Just a spirit?

That minus Ceith Shelter. Because that never existed.
…......you started.
Well, regardless I look forward to whatever the mystery contests are. There's a lot of potential for great character interactions. Even if this arcs ends with Team be losing only for Team A to take the victory, we could get a lot of fun out of the characters we like.
Come to think of it, considering that this contest is for money and Sabertooth isn't threatening anyone by winning this contest, is there any reason for Fairy Tail to win? I can see that happening, it's easy to imagine all of Fairy Tail getting cheated out of that money somehow.

I see them losing as well due to it being about MONEY. Lucy always gets screwed out of money. Though since this is a guild thing the money may be used for a NEW guild to be made, so they could win.
But if they do lose, it will be something like "sabertooth beats them in the tournament, but THEN they go all evil and are going to kill everyone and fairy tail then beats them up" But the tournament was already decided so that don't change the winners. Be like if when goku fought piccolo if he stepped out of the ring for half a second, and got disqualified and yet still had to protect earth from picollo jr.
Sabertooth is just being overhyped since they're #1 while Fairy Tail was away and they have 2 Dragon Slayers. The guild most likely going to the finals with Team A is going to be Raven Tail. The other way I see Raven Tail exiting early is if they're only in the tournament to set up something bigger and end up leaving or being disqualified.
Good chapter, but this round is going to be a little redundant in terms of magic:
Eve: Snow
Leon: Ice Make: Dynamic
Gray: Ice Make: Static
Juvia: Water
So at least 4 out of the 8 contestants this round use a form of Water-based magic. Okay…
I think its cool Juvia is obviously at a disadvantage in this type of fight though
Ugh, the "2 teams for guild rule" could have been handled a lot better with some foreshadowing beyond "wow, so many guilds!!!"
2th apareance of Jellal and surprise backup of gazielle. Check.

i really hope the round has some of a fire based challenge or something that puts them all at a HUGE disadvantage and makes Gray thus grow
Decent chapter, I don't know why but I don't feel too good about the "Team B". If feels, I don't know, kind of weird, or like a lame excuse to finally use the characters.
Also, I which Mashima can show some dark guilds or other monsters like Deloria destroying towns more often in order to add some sort of correlation to the past and present like when we saw Gray's village get destroyed and stuff. Also, for what reason is there that most of, or if not all (except Lucy) the guild members parents were killed, or they just don't have parents? (excluding the Dragon Slayers and Laxus) I mean, I hate it when we have to assume things in literature, if you even wanna count Fairy Tail as literature since it doesn't exactly do a good job with important literary elements in my opinion. I guess I have to assume that guilds weren't as good as they are now.

They way I feel about it is PERFECT.
I never liked this whole time skip in how the rest of the world was now somehow stronger than the entire Fairy Tail guild. I mean if Michael Jordan in his Prime all of a sudden dissapeared and reppeared 7 years later not a day older, thus still in his prime. He would not go from being the best player in the NBA to the worst. He would still be in the top players, while maybe not the best.
Thus seeing two fairy tail teams make it feels RIGHT. They were the top dogs 7 years ago, they should still be top dog contenders.
I don't think that's the greatest analogy, since the Fairy Tail members who disappeared were like more than 10 people, why MJ is just one guy. The whole guild sucks when many of the members were not there. MJ can't suck just because he disappeared.
The Team B thing feels lame considering the fact that it was said that people like Gajeel missed the deadline, but they showed up somehow now in the games?
Team B should be Team A and main cast.
If this happened, FT would be a lot more like DBZ. Which could be an upgrade to be honest.

Nope, he'd still be the best.

One person an entire team it don't matter. The analogy is the same. These group of people NOT THE ENTIRE FAIRY TAIL GUILD. Just those people at teh island who disapeared. They where all people who could take out entire dark guilds by themselves and were all monsters. Now they come back, at the exact same str as they were 7 years ago and somehow they are not even as strong as their weakest members in their own guild, which is the weakest guild in the world.
Its just stupid. Take Natsu only, since we saw him lose to some weakling in the guild. He is our michael jordan. Its like Michael Jordan coming back still in his prime and all of a sudden losing to a 7th grade girl in basketball.
Or look at one piece. Lets say instead of the strawhats training for 2 years they were sent 2 years into future thus same str. Be like them all of a sudden losing to the thousands of nameless fodder marines. It doesn't matter if 100 years passed, those nameless fodder marines are going to still be super ass weak compared to them. So why in fairy tail did EVERYONE in the universe power up to Natsu level in 7 years. It's unrealistic. Jet and Droy I can't see ever being anywhere near his level give them their lifetime. NOTHING happened in 7 years. The author said so, it was quiet. So why did everyone power up so much. THere was no need to become so strong if the world was quiet and peaceful.
Thus back to my main point. THere should easily be two teams that make the top 8 be from fairy tail. WITH or WITHOUT their training. I mean take the guilds we KNOW in the top 8. Do you really think any of them could beat any of the fairy tail teams even before their training? Laxus, Gerard, ect team are monsters. I don't see any way the pegasus team could beat them. And these are the guys who all lost to natsu at some point, so natsu's team should be at least as strong.

This isn't arguing about if michael jordan woudl still be the best, just saying michael jordan would not be at the level of some guy sitting on the clippers bench. Some players might be as good or better than jordan like lebron or kobe or ect. BUT not the ENTIRE league. Which is what happened in Fairy Tail. Somehow this NBA championship team comes back the exact same str and yet they are now the worst team in the league. Makes zero sense.

Carry on.
Team B had me cracking up mainly because it shot down all of those dumb ass theories of Gajeel or Laxus being that armored dude from Raven Tail.
I'm excited for next weeks chapter

Since you are using one piece as an example, I will give you one simple scenario of the pacifistas. In the two year time skip they have been improved and if the strawhat had stayed at their old level they would have been pwned completely. As for peaceful times, you are forgetting that those members of fairy tail had to improve if they wanted to keep their guide alive which they did barely.
Besides it wouldnt make for good story telling if natsu and co. came back and still be the strongest team around.
Or remember when coby and luffy first met, now imagine if luffy went on a timeskip till the war. Who do you think would have been stronger at that point?Coby or luffy? This is exactly what happened in fairy tail
This chapter was odd. I wasn't expecting Team B, still seems unfair to the other guilds. Also part of the convesation being held in the ring seems to have been continued up in the stands like they were talking to each other…but not yelling...weird.
I'm still confused since it was said that people like Laxus, Gajeel, and Mira missed the deadline.

The pacifistas that the strawhats met on shabondy had not been improved at all. they were the same ones from 2 years ago.
and i'm not saying some can become stronger, like you said Coby. I'm just saying it's rediculuos that EVERY SINGLE MAGE in the world was now somehow stronger than them.

It's what Kubo resorts to to explain why people's previously explained abilities and motivations are suddenly completely different without logical reason, right ?
