Kubo will probably do a "he was hiding his bankai the entire time so nobody will see" crap the same as Ikkaku.
Naruto and Bleach II: I don't have the heart to care anymore.

Didn't you read the chapter? Kubo did that.
-
I actually liked bleach this week. The only problem is if sasakibe was so powerful then why did ichigo own him with a punch.
Naruto was pointless as fuck though -
Kubo will probably do a "he was hiding his bankai the entire time so nobody will see" crap the same as Ikkaku.
Which still doesn't explain how the dude lost to a punch.
-
So in Naruto we went back two chapters, with no change. But we had a flashback for no reason! Well one/two reasons. To show how sweet Itachi and Sasuke were together. And to show they do know each other after Kabuto said they weren't. Man was he wrong, hahahahahhahahahah… ha ha? And we had Kabuto be duped by simple minded reasoning. "You wanted my bro, so I protected him. That's how I could get passed your jutsu that you could try again and possibly kill us with, but won't because both our characters are written by a dumbass." So Itachi is glorified as a mastah Uchiha. Can't compete with that.
-
Which still doesn't explain how the dude lost to a punch.
Who knows, if he was hiding his power because of "loyalty" stuff like it says he would of stopped Ichigo no matter what from saving Rukia since it was his captain's own orders. So much for being loyal. Or hey, maybe punches are his only weakness.
-
Naruto is much worse than Bleach since this new arc. Why? You may ask, the answer is Bleach has new characters, Naruto has the same old borefest of retards no one cares about.
-
I find this Sasuke very weird, its like he is a differnt character now. Are there two Sasukes running around? Its like he is a good guy again.
-
Which still doesn't explain how the dude lost to a punch.
Maybe his shikai's a constant release type that lets him "SEE INTO DA FUTURE!!!1111one".
And he let Ichigo win because "ICHIGO'S DA KEY TO SAVING DA WURLD!!!111one"
-
I think Bleach highlights how retarded most of the characters are. They have these powers, but refuse to use them, because they want to look cool, or they want to save it, or some other bullshit. If the captains had all used their Ban Kai during the Deicide arc, things could've been resolved much quicker.
-
That Naruto poster is adorable. Look at them thinking that they might be useful for a few seconds. Ooh you poor guys- you will only be mentioned once or twice; and that only for the purpose of being fodder for some gay villain.
-
So.many. flashbacks.
I wouldn't be surprised if the entire naruto series was a huge flashback to setup for the real story

Maybe it's cause Itachi is pretty much the only person left(in his mind) who he cares about? I don't know, it's very contradicting to everything.
I'm still confused by the Itachi thing anyway. So Itachi killed the whole Uchiha clan to save Konoha from a coup d'état. But then after Sasuke killed Itachi he suddenly wanted to destroy Konoha when it was actually Itachi's wish to protect the village? Also, Itachi could bring himself to kill his parents, but not his younger brother? If Itachi apparently truly loved his brother, why did he leave him like that?
In a recent chapter he said that Sasuke was just a kid, but weren't there other children in the Uchiha clan?I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I'm kind of confused about that.
-
Ya he totally didn't have a bankai before this chapter.
Kubo wanted to hype up the new army by having them kill someone strong…but didn't want to sacrifice someone actually important.Or actualy having to waste an established ability, or make up a new one just to forget about it.
That's our Kubo !
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, I didn't quite understand. Did the text imply that he was Vice Captain before Yamamoto and before whoever came before him, or was that just a refference to other divisions having vacant spots ? I thought they didn't cross-promote people like that.
-
I gotta wonder, can the Vanden guys take a bankai before someone achieves it?
Is that how they're going to introduce Kenpachi's?
-
Anyone else notice that Sasakibe's backstory was ripped straight from Ikkaku? Except Ikkaku was outright told it was fucking stupid, whereas here they applaud him for his loyalty. Also, if he never once used his bankai before this time, HOW THE FUCK DID ANYONE KNOW HE HAD ONE BEFORE Ukitake and name-I-forget-guy. And wouldn't someone using Bankai have been noticed by some of the other captains, or even Yamamoto himself before they drag in his dying ass?

And don't they have a huge ass reiatsu monitoring network made of magic ?

Or hey, maybe punches are his only weakness.
Ichigo used Mega Punch! Critical hit! It's super-effective! Sasakibe fainted!

Wow… Yeah.. I'm just going to answer this with four words:
My Parents are dead.
You know what's funny, Ichigo's own story arc hasn't been resolved yet. He never got closure over grand fisher, he just magically forgot his most traumatic experience in his entire life. I know his dad killed Grand Fisher (which was really awful), but still.

Naruto: Road to Ninja poster:
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120326092715/naruto/images/9/95/Naruto_the_Movie-_Road_to_Ninja's_main_poster.JPGHinata's got some skin showing there. Nice.
Anyway, the chapters.
Naruto: I guess the argument that could be made for this chapter's purpose was that it showed that Itachi and Sasuke are still loving brothers. Despite the fact that Itachi murdered their entire clan, drove Sasuke down the path of vengeance, and lied to him his whole life.
Kishi, here's an idea: why don't you just go home, and fuck your own face. Literally, just fuck your own face.
Bleach: Well Kubo, thanks for that ham-fisted expository dialogue that explained Sasakibe's character, which you couldn't be arsed to deal with before. Now I really feel sad about him dying.
-

In a recent chapter he said that Sasuke was just a kid, but weren't there other children in the Uchiha clan?I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I'm kind of confused about that.
Itachi's whole mindset is completely fucked up to put it nicely. Apparently he was indeed able to murder his whole clan in cold blood but when it comes to Sasuke, logical decisions stop. And regarding the kids – if there were any then plot pretty much killed them by now. Sasuke is the only child who's important... reading that text I really wish that someone would extinguish the Uchiha blood line.
By the way, that flashback doesn't make any fucking sense whatsoever. Sasuke is way too old in it which is impossible judging by his appearance during Itachi's first departure. So either Itachi came back to go on a mission with his brother ("sup bro? you cool that I killed our family? really? then let's hunt some boars and create happy childhood memories") or Kishimoto messed up yet again. -
Naruto was really hard to read this week. The translations were really wonky. Just grammatically off most of the time. And yeah, Sasuke really looked too old for that flashback. I had been under the impression that Itachi and him never interacted because Sasuke was too much of a scrub and Itachi had other stuff to worry about. So he kept brushing him off. I can't really imagine them having a mission together. Wasn't Sasuke freshly placed in school by the time Itachi killed everyone? Wouldn't he have been too young to even go out on a mission like that?
Bleach was alright. It had virtually no jokes last arc so seeing some now feels weird…And I don't see the point in going to rescue fodder in Hecuo Mundo again. I'm glad Ishida declined. But then I'm still confused as to why the Vanderbelts would capture that guy in the first place. Wasn't he crazy weak? Why not just kill him? I get Ichigo asking Orihime to come along. Never go without a healer. But why ask Chad? Also I still feel like Ichigo didn't mention the Qunicy thing...If they did that's a huge underwhelming reaction for finding out your and your dad aren't the only ones left.

Read Bleach….
Is Kubo serious? Sasakibe was apparently some high-tier Shinigami (read: got Bankai before Kyoraku and Ukitake) that not only had a Bankai, but declined to be a captain in order to serve Yamamoto? That's almost exactly like Ikkaku being subserviant to Kenpachi, only the latter is much more easy to believe because Ikkaku said it outright. That, and we're familar with Ikkaku's character.
Here, this seems dubious to me because….well, because how many lines has Sasakibe had in this series in total? (This looks bad on him if you look at Ichigo beating him in SS by shoving his damn palm into his face).
Anyway, I enjoyed the pages where Pesche reappeared in the beginning, he's still funny to me. But now Ichigo and his merry crew are going back to Hueco Mundo to save Dondachakka? Only without Ishida and having Orihime there to help. Y'know, why I am certain this will play out the same way as the Arrancar arc? (i.e, they storm in the base, Ichigo beats high-ups and Chad gets outmatched, the leader traps them there, Gotei is forced to help, etc)
-
I'm actually enjoying the current fight in Naruto. I'm not a fan of the translation, but after reading it again, it's entertaining. At least last chapter. I got a little lost this chapter.
-

Agreed with everything here, though I have to add…...a mission where Itachi and Sasuke had to hunt down a boar seems.....weak as flashback material? Like you said, I too thought Itachi and Sasuke had little interaction in the past.......and on a seperate note, it's still weird to me to see them fighting together.
......When was Naruto's last appearance?

Hueco Mundo again? There's nothing to destroy there

Naruto: Road to Ninja poster:
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120326092715/naruto/images/9/95/Naruto_the_Movie-_Road_to_Ninja's_main_poster.JPGI saw that recently on another site, looks somewhat interesting. And it appears that hinata and ino did some kind of mind body swap or something since the way they are dressed reflects the others personalities.
Yea that bugged the hell out of me, sasuke was what 7 when itachi killed their family and he barely had any ninja talent at that point so how and when did they go out dressed like anbu and kill a boar when itachi never seemed to have time to do anything with him? And the size and age issue is the worst offender
This is sasuke right after his clan was killed
And heres him and itach supposedly somewhere around then, why is sasuke almost as big as itachi!! Terrible kishi take a lap
–-------
Oh and as far as bleach goes meh, i think it feels worse that they tried to explain why sasakibe played down his strength for no reason, who would do that when peoples lives are on the line? Good old kubo forgot he used that defunct trope already.
-
I started reading Naruto part 1 again, and now I really wish I hadn't, it's so much better then what we have now, and the art works so awesome, what the hell happened to him, is this really depression because they said no to his mario manga (that's what I've heard)
-
@No:
That…..is somehow even worse. The one time we can get to see this guy's ability, and it'll be used by someone who stole it after killing him.
I mean, this is as much fail as you can get, right ?
In Bleach, character development is extremely lethal.
In Sasakibes case, he was so underdeveloped that merely displaying any sort of battle ability was too tall an order to make it out alive…errr, dead. Ghost soul reaper. You know what I mean.
-
Sometimes I wonder if bad dialogue is due to translation or the original material, but with Bleach this week I'm confident it's the latter. Dead Vice Captain (I don't feel bad for not remembering his name, even when it's in the above post) got a really dumb eulogy. It basically amounts to: "Yeah, this guy, even though he was a vice captain he totally had a bankai. Really he did, he had it before those two really old Captains had bankais. You didn't see it but it really happened. Anyway, he never used it cause Yamamoto is so awesome. Okay he used bankai maybe like once but only before he died. Really, he had a bankai, and that's all you need to know about his life. The end."
I'm probably forgetting some good examples, but Bleach really makes bushido seem stupid. Why would Saski-whatever pledge loyalty to Yamamoto, refusing to help fill a captain role in Soul Society, when Yamamoto is leader of Soul Society. Wouldn't Yamamoto place the good of Soul Society over owning his own lap dog? Sure, it's not the first bad decision from his guy, and it's clear Saski-whatever isn't nearly strong enough top be a decent captain anyhow, but it just seems that this guy was more being selfish and whipped rather then serving a greater good. Really, I liked this guy better knowing less about him, and I'd rather this funeral be cut from the manga entirely.
Speaking of dumb plot holes…Soul Society let Haribel live? There's not way she could've escaped in her condition, and she's clearly a threat to Soul Society. Does SS have some reason for keeping Huedo Mundo around? Cause their lack of resolve seems immensely stupid. With Stark and Barrigan gone they could wipe this place out easily.
On the other side, I actually kind of like this fight in Naruto. The whole brother bond thing is crap, but I like the fight at least. The techinques are interesting, and at this points that's all I need.
-
Wow. Naruto is getting into new heights of shit. Incredible. How do you do that? How do you get so shitty? He must be doing that on purpose.
As for Bleach, this is actually rage inducing. Maybe the chapter wasn't Fullbringer level bad, but seriously? Ikkaku AGAIN? "Sasakibe was really strong, captain level, had a Bankai, but never used it because. . .because. . .hmmm. . .because. . .oh, yes, because he WAS VERY LOYAL". WHAT KIND OF FUCKING SENSE DOES THAT MAKE???
- "Hmmm, this young guy is causing problems for Soul Society, and I'm very loyal to SS! So, I'm gonna do what my loyalty asks me to do! I'm NOT gonna use my Bankai or my captain level strength against him and get defeated in the most humiliating, pathetic manner! Yeah, that old man is gonna be sooooo proud of me!".
Seriously, did Kubo even TRY? Ikkaku was more or less understandable: retarded, yes, a lot, but understandable. But this? What the fuck is this? This is infuriating. We were talking just recently about how Gin's character was so retardedly portrayed in a last minute attempt to make him somewhat "goody", and now we have one of the most pathetic, unknown side characters suddenly being this oh so strong character who just didn't want to be of any use to Soul Society just to make the bad guys look powerful.
I know this is been said like 100 times already (I read the threads before posting), but it will never be stressed enough. This was one of the shittiest things I've seen in a manga in a long time. To think there are so many people who treat Kubo's writing as "superior" and "mature" and "deep". . . .
-

......When was Naruto's last appearance?
It is very weak…I could understand if maybe once Itachi took Sasuke out as Uchiha training...But I thought Sasuke during the flashback also said something about how Itachi always broke his promises and that it was a big deal when his father decided to praise him for getting that fire ball technique right. Did Itachi take him out once and he had to get carried back? But fighting some slightly large boar...Wasn't Itachi a prodigy? Why would anyone task him with something so trivial?

Also, during the funeral scene I noticed that Renji looked like he was about to fall asleep. -
What if this entire series was an illusion that Itachi put on Sasuke in the beginning?
-
What if this entire series was an illusion that Itachi put on Sasuke in the beginning?
That makes more sense than the stuff is going on now. Hell for Bleach the entire series after the soul society arc could all be Aizen's illusion too.

It was a punch of friendship!
Bleach , those white dudes are gonna be in a big suprise when Kenpachi goes "Bankai?I dont need that shit" and then he cuts them in half.
And Ichigo will go "You stole my Bankai?Lol Hollow Form!" and he owns rest of them.Naruto , that mission flashback was pure BS.Other than that it was good.

shitty chapters = thread merge, lol.

I'm just gonna crosspost from the Bleach thread then.
Why did Kira even need to do detective work? At least three of the vice-captains (Renji, Rukia, and Yachiru) there came from districts beyond number 50 (and why didn't they say anything about it). Lord knows how many other shinigami do as well.
And why does Mayuri know about something that happened a thousand years ago? Unless Kubo screwed over his timeline. Again.
It's funny that Kubo's actually acknowledging SS is a shithole, though.
