Just adding to the "Gin's ending was a half-assed attempt at redemption" point.

Remember that time Ichigo's dad showed up and did squat along with Urahaha and Yoruichy? Gin was supposed to be fighting Ichigo and was instead giving him pointers on how to fight and talks about his faltering resolve and what not. I think that's what his last lines of "your eyes look strong now blah blah" to Ichigo are supposed to refer to, pulling off a Snape; a shoddy one at that. A poor man's Snape, if you will.

So if he was supposed to be a good guy all along, who is to take the fall for the guy he killed just to get Aizen's recognition? He wasn't just some low level fodder either. The 3rd seat if memory serves right. That guy must have had a family, friends, dreams and ambitions of his own. Is it any different than the charges being levelled against Sasuke?

As someone who doesn't give a rats ass about bleach the answer to your Gin question of why he waited so long to kill Aizen is summed up by Gokai Red(Pirates not withstanding) "We're pirates. We reach out and take whatever we want with our own hands." Yes it would have been smarter to help those other people kill Aizen at some other junction but he wanted to kill him with his own hands on his own terms.

Kenny and Gin had a buddy moment? I don't remember that at all. But it has been years since I last watched/read that arc. sigh Back when I thought this show was so cool lol.

Back when Rukia first got brought back to SS, Gin and Kenpachi were all like "lololol ur sisters gonna die" together. Then Byakuya looked like he was gonna get mad, so Gin tied up Kenpachi and dragged him away before a fight could start.

Like Zxcv said, it was probably just for comedy. But considering Kenny's nature, it's really weird that he'd let that happen without them being friends of some sort (especially seeing as how the divisions are generally so separated that some of the captains don't even know each other's bankai).

Those terms being waiting until the time when killing Aizen would be absolutely hardest for no disclosed reason? And waiting until well after Rangiku, whose safety is the only motivation Gin had for his actions, had half her torso removed by one of Aizens underlings?
Thats real smooth of Rangiku loverboy Gin. Amazing character consistency.

And boy did his actions change soul society like he said his goal was, and all his deceit and murder totally paid off in the battle against Aizen, they really did, he sure wasn't totally screwed over as a character.

Kishimoto actually showed Rin? This is one of the few character I still remember being interested in. Do you know which chapter exactly?

Sure. Only the tracks are held together with glue and branch off in all sorts of directions, so that the driver doesn't know where the train ends up before it stops. Its very easy to "connect the dots once" the characters story arc is done, especially when the developments were so cliched and easily predictable, but with all the contradictory actions and sloppy and vague backstory, Gin has the hallmarks of someone Kubo were just winging as he wrote.
You can no more convince me that Kubo had thought up a proper plan for Gin that he tried to adhere to, than you can convince me Kishimoto knew all redheads were Uzumakis.

Not quite right. The only appearance she made was during flashbacks (Sandaime and Kakashi's iirc).

Well, just saw the last Bleach anime episode. Made me remember that only the first 50 or so episodes were actually good and there was a time I really liked the series.
Will they animate the final arc when it finishes? Don't know, don't really care.

What's sad is with the anime ending I suddenly don't care as much about Bleach. It was the anime that allowed me to enjoy it.

I have no choice but to follow Kubo as he ignores the characters I like and screws over everyone else.
