no 2chan picture link either?
nice episode, i think they used the strong world theme when Decken arrived
Interesting choice of music for Decken's arrival. Decent episode, but I have a feeling that Luffy's action pieces suffered on FUNi's player. I laughed at seeing him having to bunny-hop around. The build up to Sanji turning around was a bit overplayed, I thought.
Decent episode, pretty much Chapter 618 from beginning to end. I liked the use of quite a few "classic" One Piece BGMs as well as the opening to Strong World. While the jokes in the first half were drawn out they were also executed well. The second half suffered from some off artwork but overall everything was consistent looking.
O-chan
Zorro is just super badass thats all
the only part of this episode I didn't particularly like was Zoro getting hit/him using shishi sonson on Hody; in the manga, Zoro hasn't even been scratched yet. That was a very slight thing though, a good episode overall
In general, the SHs appear much stronger in the manga. I'm still disappointed about Luffy's Gear Second (it still feels like he's doping)
A very subpar episode. Mediocre at best.
Sanji's overdone dramatic moment was funny. It was like they were building up to his actual death. lol
Luffy's attacks against Decken and Wadatsumi were underwhelming, although hearing Wadatsumi's voice made it somewhat hilarious.
And now, the moment we've all been waiting for….Zoro slicing Hody.
What a big disappointment. Not only was it sad seeing Zoro practically struggling against Hody's shark arrows, but Toei had the audacity to actually have Hody land a blow on Zoro with his trident and seen him flying into the ground!
That one part tarnished my excitement for the entire scene.
Sanji and the Mermaid Princess was too drawn-out, sure. But using To the Grand Line for that sequence was pure, molten genius.
Wow they made Sanji turning around so dramatic lol xD hilarious episode is hilarious

I agree completely. The anime show-cased their skills/development well on Sabaody and on their way to fish-man island (against the Kraken), but it has been disappointing since then
Hody fighting back helps build up some of Hody's credibility? I remember a bunch of people having trouble taking Hody seriously since he was beaten in one attack (from the manga perspective). I'm more bothered that the anime chose the attack to be Lion's song since that attack is meant to cut metal (nitpick I admit)
Most disappointing for me was the lack of spinning when Luffy used jet hammer, but even his scenes seemed okay. I didn't mind that they drew out Sanji's scene since they seemed to hit the faux tension that the scene was meant to portray.
Last week was bearable filler, but to be perfectly honest, Hody actually getting in the hit that he did made me feel a bit sick.
average episode for me they over dramatized Sanji's scene and made Zoro look somewhat unimpressive, oh well at least Luffy looked pretty good kicking Vander Deckens's ass

I can't wait till the
! battle in the plaza.
When I read Zoro cutting Hody I was given the Impression Zoro kicked his ass in the water without getting touched, That part disappointed me in this episode and the Sanji part was over done as well but still funny. Luffy and Nami stood out to me as being the one's who have become more mature using their head a bit more. Usopp trying to scream in water twice… xD
Not a fan of this rope thing holding down Luffy, why would he let them tie him up in the first place? And couldn't he easily break it? If he can split apart two buildings from the middle like in Water 7, he can just as easily break a measly rope...

I always picture the ropes being Paulie's amazing Galley-La ropes from back at Water 7. If those ropes could keep two giants, a couple of dozen people, and two giant sea-bull-things from falling into a trench, then they can keep Luffy tied.
Wadatsumi's size was totally fucked up -.- When Luffy goes to hit him he is almost the size of Wadatsumi's head, which should be bigger than Thousand Sunny -.-

We all know very well that ropes, followed by thick walls, are the strongest existences in OP.
Oh gosh, don't bring up walls again! Though my thoughts were more on Decken and where the heck he keeps pulling these axes from XP
Episode felt really laggy, and not in the good way where it's been helping to flesh everything out. The delays and adding were good for building up, but for the important scenes like Zoro's fight, it just makes it annoying. At the halfway point I was just shouting at the screen "CUT HIM ALREADY!"
where the heck he keeps pulling these axes from
The same place Franky pulls his tools and guitar out of.
i love the anime but i totally hated how they handled zoro vs hody, zoro was supposed to totally overpower him, i was ok with zoro handling hody attacks, but then struggling against them?? GETTING HIT BY HODY? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
The anime guys have no idea about how overpowered Zoro is, they should read the manga the part of Zoro vs that drunk swordman.
Yeah i get the feeling that the editors need some sort of tension build up. Like cmon, the story is going to have massive tension later on, to me it seems like they're to heavily focused on it. They're suppose to show how OP the actual crew is. Not some people struggling. Still a decent episode but it seems like the story is being misinterpreted.

LOL Screw the Ancient Weapons! All you need is a rope and you have the strongest weapon in the whole world of One Piece!
This is ridiculous.
I liked this episode! I laughed when they over-dramatized the whole sanji scene.
To be honest.. I don't even find Shirahoshi that pretty… Boa Hancock is x10 prettier.
Decent, but only average episode. Much of the action wasn't handled as well as it could of. The Sanji bit was stretched out, but handled very well, complete with heavenly music! The delayed reaction to Shirahoshi's refusal was also worth a chuckle.
I guess the Zoro/Hody filler bit works in some sense of filler drama even though it messes with the OHKO outcome of the manga. The extended filler also made me wonder how long Zoro can hold his breath underwater–must have taken lessons from Guybrush Threepwood.
We all know very well that ropes, followed by thick walls, are the strongest existences in OP.
I think we can also add the barrel Caribou was sealed in
Lol fun episode. I like that they keeping up with the fact that apparently in the One Piece universe you can be strong enough to lift an entire building but you are still helpless against ropes :)
Also is it just me or did it look a bit like Nami was humpong Camie at the end
i personally don't like it that luffy keeps using gear second in the anime, it kinda ruins the thrill for me (like when he fought the NFP for the first time, that was awesome. now he just uses it and it starts to suck… =S )
Well he did kinda need to jump a fair way in a very short time.
But on another note the Hody vs Zoro fight was annoying to watch. But i found the whole sanji- chopper interaction hilarious and the delayed reaction of Decken funny too, how ever the delayed line by Shirahoshi annoyed me
I actually thought this episode was pretty good. I actually laughed at the "you're not my type" gag and the action with Luffy was pretty cool. Also, Zoro having trouble with Hodi was really brief, but it makes sense.
! Zoro drowns after he slices Hody in the manga and has to be saved by Neptune. Last week's brief fight wasn't complete filler either, you can see a few panels of it in the previous chapter. So this makes perfect sense, it's implied filler.

! Zoro doesn't drown after slicing Hody at all. After he effortlessly silences the Great White he goes back to where there's air and then Neptune tells him to grab onto him so they can escape the palace. Zoro and the others don't start to drown until after Neptune can't move and Hody is revived. The brief fight wasn't Hody throwing water bullets but him engaging Zoro in sword to trident combat. Zoro finds an opening and then slices him and certainly doesn't use Shishi Sonson.
@Monkey:
He use it in the manga too.
Nothing like this. They always use a full body Gear 2 in the anime and they even showed him pumping his legs.
Rather mediocre episode as many have already pointed out. It's because of two reasons for me. First being the way too small face of Wadatsumi (it looks like it's only double the size of Luffy) and second, the unnecessary filler scenes in the Hody vs Zoro fight. Even if the intention behind it might be a good one, it destroys the message of the fight; Zoro one-shooting a fishman under water, that is.

! Seems that you're right. For some reason I remembered him drowning and also using a named attack. I guess because Zoro naming his attack might also be one of the reasons why Hody looks so weak strength-wise because supposedly named attacks aren't fodder attacks. Zoro and Luffy actually don't name their attacks quite often in this arc, huh?

Well, the jumping part is definitely not consisting with the manga, furthermore in the manga Luffy's move looks way cooler since he jumps and knocks out the bystanders with his COC at the same time
The switch to full-body gear 2 is indeed unlikely since you can't see any vapour coming upper body, especially his face. In the manga his annoucement of gear 2 is obviously skipped but he still calls the name of the second attack, namely Jet Hammer which is part of the second gear techniques.
So seeing something similar vapour behind Luffy after his jump, vapour-like clouds when he attacks Decken and due to the name of his attack I'd say he used gear 2 only for his legs if at all.
For the reason why the announcement of the switch to gear 2 is skipped there are two possibilities I can think of. Either Oda just leaves out for him obvious and repetitive tasks to save space and time, or gear 2 has become Luffy's default attacking state whereupon switch is done subconsciously.
The anime version had the chance to clarify such points but the production crew has regretfully other priorities.
Decent episode, funny parts with Sanji and VDD along with Shirahoshi,i liked the gear second part(i dont understand why they didnt the spining with hammer tech but meh),overall was decent this part. The part with sizes (Watasumi face and luffy body) i think they just tried to give " the object that is closer looks larger then object that is far from the viewer perspective" type of thing.
When reaching Zoro part after reading some comments here i was expecting some kinda serious damage from Hody to Zoro, what i get is Hody giving a blow with end of the trident that only thing it did was make Zoro grasp for more air…thats a problem?
Next week i looked foward to see Nami and Jinbei talking, with some awesome faces.
So should I skip watching this episode, based on these comments?

You should never avoid something just because other people recommended you to do so. Since it's One Piece I'd say watch it for yourself and build your own opinion.

It is since it's filler that ruins the impact of the scene. Those who read the manga saw that Zoro defeated Hody with a single attack whereas the anime watchers get the impression of Hody being capable of more than he is. So yes- in my opinion it is a problem but nothing that can be changed now anyway.

I cant call that capable(since everthing is in his favor(Hody)) but whatever, didnt he still defeat him with single attack?
Lets go into an alternate dimension where the anime is first and the manga is second.
We never see Hody being weak, and all are impressions of him are from the anime.
Is there still a problem?
I feel that if this happened in the Manga people would have been happier.
Everyone complained how Hody was complete fodder and so on.
Although I agree this should have been done.
I cant call that capable(since everthing is in his favor(Hody)) but whatever, didnt he still defeat him with single attack?
He did not and that's the point. The little fight they had before that- Hody throwing his water drops, they exchanging little blows with their respective weapons and Hody catching Zoro off guard- did not happen in the manga. Quite frankly I don't feel like discussing this topic any further since there isn't more to it than what I've already said so let's simply agree to leave it with that, shall we?
I never understand why people complained about "Hody being too weak", for me it was "Zoro was too strong" and i was ok with that.
The thing is here the anime go against the original plot of One Piece (Him destroying Hody like he was an ant), and i dont mind when they put filler like the Buggy or Boa filler in the MarineFord arc but when its against the true story i think its totally stupid.
So should I skip watching this episode, based on these comments?
Well seeing as how you have enough time to waste on a forum I think you more then have 15 minutes to waste on a One Piece episode so I fail to see why you wouldn't want to see it
I can't believe how little Zoro has grown over the time-skip, Hody is no stronger than Arlong and Luffy beat him before he got gears.
For that matter, Zoro still hasn't learned Gear 2, which is pissing me off, how is he ever supposed to beat Mihawk?
I think Zoro may die in the following episodes, this Hordy guy can't be the main villain, I suspect Jinbe to be the surprise main villain.
Stop trolling, please.
I like how Luffy pwned Decken, but the scene with Wadatsumi felt weird.
