http://mangastream.com/read/bleach/36615093/5 Well, this should reffer to the quincy, but this IS Kubo we're talking about.
Naruto and Bleach: Let's put this thread to bed I
-
-
It was an alright chapter of bleach for once. I'm pretty sure it took Kubo 2 of the weeks he had to do those colour pages
-
You know, I don't see why Kubo needed to make Yuki and Shino when Hanatarou/Rikichi/Rin/someotherweakunimportantshinigamithatalreadyexists could've easily taken their places.
And why's Ichigo blond on the cover?
It also looks like KUBO'S GETTING INTO FASHION DESIIIIIIGN~~~
I guess the chapter wasn't bad overall, though; but it's pretty hard to screw up right at the start of the arc.
-
Well, it seems Kubo's editor finaly slapped him and told him to cut out the full page face shots and actualy have stuff happen. Granted it mostly shows us two characters I've never seen before, but this is still much more content then we usualy get.

Well he needs to make money somehow when he finishes this arc in a thousand years :P

Naruto was meh as always. I was laughing my ass off when I saw the battlefield page. I mean, really? It was just bad.
As for Bleach… sorry guys, this chapter was a little better than usual BLEACH chapters, but it still doesn't make it a good chapter. It's just some dirt in a pile of shit, you're glad you didn't grab shit for once, but dirt still isn't the gold you once got from this manga. Good times, old Bleach chapters. Now we just get some more unknown characters, just like in every new arc. Now we wait when will Kubo forget about them. Hollows looked nice, but I have no fucking idea why they had to be so huge. We had small hollows once and they were still nice. Also - I'm shocked that we get any hollows at all. When did we see hollows last time in Bleach? A few hundred chapters ago? I hate you Kubo, you make a better chapter than usual just so that we can have some little hope that Bleach will end with dignity, but I know I JUST KNOW you'll fuck this up in the end. Just like you did for the last few years.
-
Oh wow. Final arc. Lets hope he can make this a good one, and that means we finally get to see the remaining Captain's bankais…especially Old man Yamamoto - which'd be so fucking awesome it'd totally make the whole arc worthwhile just to see that...

Will Hinata walk away with Naruto in the end?
Is this a vain attempt to keep the fanclub invested in the story.
Find out soon -
This week's Naruto was padded to hell. Like, all that got accomplished was everyone being informed that Naruto and Killer Bee are still fighting (uh, good to know I guess?) and the revelation that Sasuke…IS WALKING IN THE RAIN! Glad those last 4 pages (which includes a double page spread of nothing but the muddied earth mind you) were spent establishing that when Sasuke ends up in the battle his boots will be muddy.
Also I love how NotMadara totally just let his tailed beasts get taken out by Naruto and now until the rain started NotMadara is questioning if he's somewhat scared of fighting Naruto. That's...just lame characterization. Unless I'm misinterpreting something, which I freely admit is possible, why on earth would NotMadara even consider that kind of thought? He's always crazy sure of what he's going to do. This is the guy who masqueraded himself as a moron in the Akatsuki just so no one would expect him to be THAT big of a threat. This is the guy who let himself be captured just so he could give a "before I kill you Mr. Bond" speech before escaping. This is the guy who can walk away alive from a fight with the Yellow Flash and survive an ocean of paper that contains a fuckton more exploding paper tags than could ever possibly exist and act like it ain't no thing. Why would he ever question his actions, even however briefly, now of all times when he's about to fight a mostly standard chakra and Nine-Tails chakra spent Naruto (unless the plot says so next week), an injured Killer Bee, a physically fatigued Might Guy, and a likely to be out of chakra soon Kakashi? It's just dumb.
Oh and before I forget, I don't buy for a second that Hinata is going to actually do something that will change anything with the way Naruto feels about her. Or to be more accurate, change that he basically doesn't remember that she took a hit for him and confessed to him.
Bleach surprisingly wasn't horrible. I wouldn't say good by any means, but it wasn't bad. While I never look forward to new characters in Bleach since A) there's a shitload of 'em introduced every time Kubo doesn't know how to progress the plot (which means there are a lot of characters), B) 99% of the time they're Johnny One-Note characters that may have exactly one personality trait and that's it, and C) often are either pushed to the sidelines or forgotten about entirely by Kubo making their existance more or less filler, I am at least somewhat curious in what the point of introducing Hanataro v2.0 will be. I wouldn't say I'm interested, but curious.
However I do feel that Kubo is rushing things a little. Even if this was a good series, and it most certainly is not, we did just get off of a big arc. After such an event, it would be beneficial to have a few breather chapters to bring a lighter mood and allow the story to flow much better before you get into another arc. Instead we immediately have giant ass hollows attacking Karakura Town, Shinigami getting their shit wrecked, and a shadowy man in the background watching over things who will inevitably have the Aizen face.
-
Im gonna be honest, these chapters werent half bad. Maybe because i wasnt expecting a whole lot but it was nice to see a good amount of the side characters just get some kind of relevance, and man that sasuke build up is ridiculous, his powers are gonna cause everyone here to collectively say "come on!". Bleach wasnt that bad either, the breather braced me for the impact i think.
I think i got something for the new thread title: "To stimulate sasuke with unimportant shinigami"
hopes robby notices title
-
Oh hey, this week, Bleach was actually good. Quite a bit of content, sure characters we haven't seen before, but I'm always one to cheer for the cowards. I doubt this will bring any character development for Yuki, though. This is Bleach we're talking about here. It's really nice that this is the last arc, too, even if it will probably be really long.
I'm not entirely sure if this was worth the 3-week wait, though.
-
I'm too awesomed out by OP this week to really feel anything about Naruto and Bleach's chapters. They were both iffy. There, that'll do.
-
This week's Naruto's ninja march in the rain probably would have been okayish
I mean, if all these characters had any relevance to the story and bits of dignity for themselves remaining.
Because right now all I hear is the bland whiny tune along the lines of "Silly shy big boobed Hinata girl. Silly shy big boobed Hinata girl Narutoes are not for you!"
-
Quincies for antagonists (until the inevitable twist)? Oh Kubo you. I fully expect Ishida to job as fiercely as ever and get so far into the back that he becomes indiscernible from the white, and to still have Kubo declare that this is "Ishidas Arc!"
Chapter wasn't that bad I guess, but at this point in the story I cannot accept hollows as a credible threat anymore, and their very existence make the shinigami seem more incompetent than ever. The strongest of the arrancarized Vastro Lordes were taken out by captains not going all out. Hueco Mondo is Mayuris official playground. They have Hollow detection software in SS, that is somehow able to predict the exact time and place for hollow attacks. The shinigami have literally all eternity to do nothing but train, and do their friggin job, which incidentially prevents hollows from being created in the first place. -
Kishimoto said that he doesn't wanted his villains to be just evil. That there was a reason why these guys went rogue and left society.
That any important villain should have a background like any good guy.
You're not born a villain in Naruto, you become it.
i liked the two-page spread in Naruto. I honestly can't pinpoint why. But for some reason, coming after the previous pages, it just seemed to…fit. Plus it was drawn pretty well too, which didn't hurt any.
Think I got it. Looking at the two pages, you can see the footsteps of so many people all running in the same direction, towards the sun coming out behind the clouds.
If you want to get all symbolic with it (which with Kishi, is never a bad idea) you could look at it as a representation of Naruto and the effect he's having on the world itself. If you see him as the sun (which I know is gonna turn the stomachs of many) he, or at least his ideals, represent the hope of a better future, where the shinobi world is pulled out of the darkness that covers it (the storm clouds). And the footsteps of course show all the people that now follow Naruto, willing to fight for and with him to help him realize his goal.
the rain definitely made it a darker and more haunting chapter than the previous ones which had too much goofy naruto. now its time for the alliance to start dropping off like flies in the face of tobi, gedo, kabuto, madara and sasuke. after all this its like theyve barely made a dent in the enemy. they think theyve won but its just beginning.
The shonobi alliance moved towards the sun / light / hope. As you see from the double page. Hence chapter title "The path towards radiance". While next page, you see Sasuke's foot prints moving away from sun , goes towards the darkness or storm.
These things remind me of Konan chapter "viaduct to peace" (ch510) and the rainbow double spread for similar writing style.Bleach is not that bad this week but i feel like Kubo just want to write and draw Ichigo saying "Kurosaki Ichigo… Shinigami Representative" after finish reading it..nothing more..
-
Huh? That makes two times that naruto has broken the fourth wall? That's the only thing that was interesting about naruto/bleach this week.
As for bleach, it actually feels like a new arc, but the story doesn't really progress. Ichigo just does the same old "saving". Not even interesting.I'm totally blown away by this week's HxH.

And One Piece goes Fos Roh Dah today! These two combined can't ever compare.
Oda! Oda! Oda! Oda! -
Bleach was good because wait for it….Hollows! Yes, real ones.
-
Bleach sucked as usual, hurry up and finish this last arc Kubo.
-
For Naruto, at least Kishimoto showed that he does remember who the rookies are. …He just chooses to not use them in the story in any meaningful way. Sasuke at the end was unintentionally hilarious for me; I don't know why.
For Bleach, it was such a long chapter, and yet absolutely nothing happened.
-
^Doubt that they died.
-
Oh, for a second, I thought this wasn't Bleach and people actually died. It's been a few weeks since I've read this garbage. My mistake. Either way, he's a prick for smiling.
-
You know, you'd think ninja footwear wouldn't be open-toed, in case they had to march in the rain. I know I'd mutiny
Those Hollows seemed to have multiple Hollow holes, maybe they're huge because they're a different kind of Hollow. I seem to remember a class of huge Hollow called… Huge Hollows.
-
Why the hell do they keep sending the weakest Shinigami to protect the town with the most Hollow appearances and attacks in the material world!? They sent kids! And they're even more useless than the previous guy! It doesn't make sense to me! My conclusion is they were made into fodder for the specific purpose of being handled and thrown aside so Ichigo can come in, save the day, and look "cool". Watch them be discarded a few chapters from now with little or no development.
Remember Ichigo's boss?
Kubo doesn't.
As the new Shinigami of Karakura Town they do stand a better chance of getting more character development though.
Overall, an alright chapter of Bleach. Interesting if the Quincies are being thorwn into the mix. Nice color pages too and this is with out a doubt the most artwork Kubo has put into a chapter in months.
As for Naruto…ehhh..."meh". The Konoha 11 have been reduced to support characters with their own dreams and goals never developed or left in the background. The only person whose dreams was referred to is Hinata because her ultimate goal is to be with Naruto. lolz.
-
How likely is it that Kubo actually remembers the Quincies?
-
I don't think it's Quincies, considering the whole they're all dead thing.
-

Great going there Yamamoto, by the way.

Hahahaha of all the K11 the only one who has a clear goal is Hinata, and that is to bang Naruto, good job there Kishi.

Tobi seems to be worried Naruto is related to the Sage somehow that's why he questions himself briefly. It was only for one second through and he went back to normal.

@Cyan:
How likely is it that Kubo actually remembers the Quincies?
Not likely until he reads Bleach wiki and finds out one of his main characters Ishida is a Quincy.
I don't think it's Quincies, considering the whole they're all dead thing.
Ishida and his father. They can't be all dead. Soul Society can't even keep track of a bunch of half-hollow humans running around and their former Shinigami Representative. They lost track of the Vizards too. I bet the Quincies are hiding out in some cave somewhere out of Soul Society's range or some bs like that.
-
I bet the Quincies are hiding out in some cave somewhere out of Soul Society's range or some bs like that.
The Quincies all really survived, and the mass genocide Mayuri did was really on peasants who wore shirts that said "I'M A QUINCY" on them.
-
Rest of the shinobi world: Woah let's do this! Charge forward, we can do it!
Fake-dara reacts with a powerful attack and half of the army dies again.
Rest of the shinobi world: Shit he's strong… well... go Naruto! You can do this man! You're our hero! Woohoo!
Naruto: facepalms.
.
.Sasuke: ...I'm wet.
-
The only highlight in Bleach was the color page with Mayuri in them. I don't care for that new look. :I It's nice to see that Akon hasn't been forgotten. But that aside, this was still a really terrible chapter. We get an entire chapter about some no name kids who are just going to be forgotten. BORING. How about someone we know? If it's got to be a weak nobody, I say it should be a weak nobody that we at least recognize. Remember the days when seeing a new character was exciting? Remember? :getlost: Ichigo won't even break up a sweat and then he'll have that same stupid expression he always has.
-
Sasuke: …I'm wet.
hehehehehe…gross
-
Since when was Ichigo blonde? Is he actually going super saiyan now?
-
So, read Bleach, and I'm confused. I'm I…supposed to know who those two kids are? Why'd we spend so much time with them? I tried reading their dialogue, but I kept blanking cause they remind me of a bunch of less likeable Kubo characters. I'm not sure how to feel about them. Should I feel bad that one of them is dead? Should I want to see shtick between a wuss and a violent bitch? I dunno, I'm way more interested in what Mayuri said. Why wasn't that the focus of the chapter?
Naruto was okay. It was a build up.
-
Why does every mangaka ever constantly go with boob size jokes? Okay, mostly Mashima and Kubo, but Kubo especially. Once in a while it's harmless, but a billion boob size jokes in a single series starts to come across as a little demeaning.
-
Tobi seems to be worried Naruto is related to the Sage somehow that's why he questions himself briefly. It was only for one second through and he went back to normal.
Well as long as it doesn't happen again I'm willing to just move on, because otherwise having this kind of villain question himself now of all times would be retarded.
-
This Bleach chapter spent more than half of the time just trying to pad things until Ichigo can show up to save the day and looked cool. Yes its nice that Kubo was switching the Shinigami in charge of Karakura, it shows some real change for once. But I feel those 2 Shinigami was merely functioning to stall the chapter so Kubo can pose Ichigo for the last page
-
Well as long as it doesn't happen again I'm willing to just move on, because otherwise having this kind of villain question himself now of all times would be retarded.
This is the reason he was confused too. The rain drops made him question himself, but then he realizes he has the situation under control.

Not saying this was marvelous, but this was practically mediocrity we're talking about here !

@Cyan:
Great going there Yamamoto, by the way.
Either he tolerated genocide because he was actively suporting it, or because he just didn't care. Seeing how logical everything in Soul Society is (best retirement policy since the Long Walk lol :P), I'd opt for the latter, because that seems to be the case with everyone. I honestly think people fuck up as much as they do because they get bored and lazy from never doing anything for several hundred years.
Also, remember how waaaaaay back, invasion of Seiretei was described as a "once in a century" occurence ? Considering only the filler ever had people actualy capable of doing something like that (and in their case it was more a "once every two weeks" sorta thing), I'm realy wondering who the crap that was reffering to.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I don't think it's Quincies, considering the whole they're all dead thing.
When has such a small thing like stated and confirmed facts ever stoped Kubo from doing whatever sounds "cool" at the moment ?

@Cyan:

Again, considering the level of effort and giving a crap SS seems to maintain, very likely.

I'm way more interested in what Mayuri said. Why wasn't that the focus of the chapter?
Naruto was okay. It was a build up.
Because vague, throwaway lines in no way actualy hinting at anything is Kubo's way of "foreshadowing" without ever actualy having to think ahead.

Insulting a woman by calling her flat and her beating the offender up is the simplest most run-of-the-mill humour that manga can produce, it's practically the scum on the very bottom of the food chain.

Its not that the character interaction or pacing was bad so to say. The thing is, I cn't imagine seeing these characters beyond next week EVER again. So why spend 3/4 of the chapter with them?
And again, why does Soul Society keep sending rookies to the most dangerous place on earth as their starting point all the time. Seroiusly its rediculous.
-

Foreign aid shipments from the other, actually decent Soul Societies.

Maybe they just hope they'll get random powerups like Ichigo does every so often ? And yeah, I agree but this is actualy a completely different chapter type then what we've had the last few weeks. You know, the whole retconing, grinning, pointless bating for nonexistant flashbacks, whole page transformations for characters that immediately die etc.
It just feels so….different.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Cyan:
Foreign aid shipments from the other, actually decent Soul Societies.
If Kubo wants to adress anything he forgot to, this has to come first. The question of whether SS actualy ever goes outside of Japan, and where the non Japanese people go for their afterlife. And wait, d'you mean them actualy attacking people sending in aid ?
And Cyan, I know the joke you're about to make
I thought of something just now: wouldn't it be all kinds of amusing if SS kept the further district as violent and lawless as they are on purpose, just to produce inferior living conditions justifying war measures, like the Party in 1984 ?
-
-
Don't worry, they're already dead to begin with.
Haven't read the begining of the series so, could someone please explain: are Quincies humans, only different, or are they kinda dead from the get go like shinigami ?
-
Don't worry, they're already dead to begin with.
What is the whole circle of life thing in Soul Society
Human
Human dies - either stays as a spirit or goes to soul society or hell
Spirit - either turns into Hollow or goes to soul society or hell
Hollow - kills and eats other hollows and humans until killed by Shinigami and goes to soul society or hellWhat happens to the millions of hollows souls that an espada had to kill and eat in order to become as it is? Do they go to soul society or hell, or are they stuck in the espada? When the espada dies, then do millions of souls get released?
What happens when a Shinigami dies? Or someone in soul society, do they get reborn as a human then?
