Doflamingo seems to be the most popular candidate.
Who else? Ever since Jaya we've seen Doflamingo gathering rookies who lack great ambition and are rather focussed on the quick and easy gain.

So we'll be seeing Kokoro/Iceberg or Franky Family/Shipwrights next week, right? That will be followed by Rolling Pirates, then Amazon Lily. We may then see the people associated with the respective strawhats and maybe Dadan? And that should end the series. Have I missed anyone?
Dadan has already appeared in the first ones.
Guys, Pekoms IS a turtle Zoan. Look at his legs in that panel, they lost their original shape when the shell was revealed. He turned into a turtle. He doesn't have to look like a turtle when he isn't transformed.
He's obviously a turtle.
So Smoker is a Vice Admiral already, damn. And the two messengers actually were monsters/division commanders but likely not near the top. Bobbin a real monster confirmed.
@Don:
I have an idea about Pekoms.
How about him having not a turtle DF?I mean he and Bepo seem to be DF users because of their appearance..just like the guardians in ID.
So Pekoms cant have a turtle-DF or else he couldn
t look like a lion.
Maybe he just wears that turtle shell on his back and uses it for defence.
Apparently their appearances is due to their race not a DF power. He is like Chopper or that pegasus in Skypiea. A non-human zoan user.
all of Caribou's aims seem to lean towards what lackeys would do for Doflamingo, speaking of which I wonder what he was up to for 2 years
Dadan has already appeared in the first ones.
Right. Forget about that. Also, I just realised since Kuja Pirates were at Saboady, they may not get a cover and the same with the separation people.
So we're only looking at another 3-4 covers in this series?
@DEE:
Now that i've been thinkin' …. Maybe Cariboo is one of the prisoners that escaped from Impel down? and maybe he's as stupid as the rest of the prisoners that joined BUGGY?
Maybe Buggy is concidered as their god or something lol, since Cariboo acts like a morron... thats a possibility
eitherway, I think he must be talkin' about BLACKBEARD.
I like that. I really do!

He's obviously a turtle.
Not to mention he even did the "turtle move" hiding his head and legs inside the shell.
It's funny how many of us (myself included) assumed that Pekoms and Tamago were just "fodder" compared to the big shots. Now it took only one chapter to prove us wrong and show the readers what those two are capable of. Truth be told, I'm happy that I underestimated Big Mam's fighters since I'm now even more hyped for the New World.
Team Oda!
I must say, this was one messy chapter altogether , it seemed as if we were flying through it…
So let me put my thoughts together and share my opinion on it.
Like I said, it was a bit messy, didn't seem so well paced and put together as the last one. Lots of loose ends which in all honesty I do not comprehand at this point. But let us start at the begining.
We finally learn the reason why Jinbei has not said yes to Luffy regarding the joining... It seems he got the entire deal with Big Mom going in the first place and ended up also being her subordinate. Which also means that Sun Pirates are very much alive, but as he himself soon finds out, this messes up the situation badly.
As if that is not enough, we get this new spin off, which I think was not really needed but ok, I am talking about the tamatebako chest, which seems to have a bomb planted (loads of bombs) now here are 3 main problems.
1. As we learn Luffy has ended up giving away the treasure to Big Mom (I personally thought after the previous chapter that deal fall through. because she would not trade Candy for treasure and Luffy said he will fight her anyway, so what exactly is the point here, or better to ask this why. Why on earth would Luffy still give her that treasure?
2. We learn that box has a trap, however as we have read One Piece to this point, I really fail to feel or notice the danger of 1.000.000 bombs put together if need be, after the likes of Pell, and all the explosions which have happened so far and left people standing (to name the first that pops into my mind, The big Kuma's one on Thriller bark, which obviously failed to kill even the fodder characters"
3. As we later on in the chapter learn, that bomb, which is now in the hands of Big Mom may mean a war declaration from Luffy. Now although I do realize that it may further on irritate her and make her even more keen on fighting him, I again fail to notice the need for that to happen.
He said he will fight her, but somehow this "plot" is added into all of this and it only results from my perspective into =>
- SH's losing the entire treasure
- SH's further on irritating Big Mom
- the entire unlogical "lets give away our treasure" concept in general
The funny thing about this, is that it also takes away the entire 10 pages of a chapter, just to get the above point across together with Jinbe's trivia and a bit of SH's antics
After that we see Caribou once again roaming free (ok…) and now here Oda creates this plot just to show us the strength of some "less" important Big Moms lacays. And as we see mr. Pekoms freely using HAKI on a logia dude to which we add his 330.000.000 mils bounty, we should get the point now. Just like in Shanks crew mr. Rockstar... Yonkou are strong as hell and their entire crew is consisted of some crazy dudes. But to those who were surprised of mr. Peckoms strength.... I don't think there are many. Well there shouldn't be anyway.
And so we move to the final part of this chapter. Close to the RED LINE Oda makes that very clear...G-5 which is presented to us finally and as we learn they are marines just like on the other side of the Red Line the difference is. They dont really know the meaning of Honour, decency and so on. To sum it up, they are the wacky and crazy part of the Marines, which are basically just like wild dogs ran loose + they have the authority which comes with the job. So even pirates are "afraid of them"
But ok, the point here is, we see Tachigi and Smoker, we are supposed to see Tachigi's growth which is nice and all but I think it should fall way behind Zoro's. And we see how Smoker is all ready and notified about the entire situation down in the FI and is just basically waiting for SH's to resurface to New World, so that he finishes the unfinished busines he has with Luffy and the crew.
Now to conclude what do I think of this chapter?
It was an ok chapter, we learn some things and that is a plus, also the humor is cool, however all and all I did not like it all that much, to go and scream great chapter. In fact what bothers me about this chapter is the fact that some things seem inconsistent , unlogical and even unneccessary.
I will read this thread, perhaps there are some people here who can answer these questions better
- Why did Luffy gave away the treasure?
- How did the entire situation at the candy factory got resolved (Pekoms and Tamago simply walking away with the treasure?)
- Where is all of these leading, why the additional plots…
Now I am off to read this and hopefully discuss this chapter a bit more
Both translations from Rubia and CC said he'd join….
He's thinking about cutting off his agreement with Big Mom because he want to join Luffy's crew…. So i'd say it implies that he's gonna join.
I don't get why Jimbei even made an allaince with Big Mam to start with. I woulda thought Shanks would have been a far more obvious choice - given that he appears to be well known as a 'good' pirate…..
Ah well. Great chapter. Tashigi looks lovely,....can't wait to see Smoker in full..
Wtf is Pekoms? a talking lion with a df( looked diamond-like) and haki? badass line from him though great chapter! Jinbe will probably try to negotiate with Big Mom and what does that mean for the rest of the sun pirates they can't all join, and Fishman Island if he's successful or not. And finally Smoker and Tashigi looked awesome (is that a new sword?)
@Various:
Smoker and Aokiji mentioned G-5 after the war
I see, I thought they said G-1.
Oops.
Thanks for the reminder.
Not a bad chapter, but nothing special.
Tashigi looks great, Smoker is badass.
But I think that Pekoms doesn't need a DF, his Haki is pretty good alone.
It's funny how many of us (myself included) assumed that Pekoms and Tamago were just "fodder" compared to the big shots. I don't see why this chapter should change your opinion of them. Defeating Cariboo really isn't anything to brag about. All he has is his logia and in the New World a logia by itself isn't worth anything.

Hm, I think they are still just messengers and collectors. But well, even the messengers under Big Mum can kick your average rookie ass (and more).
This pretty much confirmed that there is a animal human islands somewhere.
Also im going to repeat Tashiga, and coby will not be on luffy and zoros level now they were no where near pre timeskip and will be nowhere near now, To say that would be to say they had a much better teacher then zoro and luffy. and are more gifted.
I fangasmd on this chap.
Excellent character progression all around.

This pretty much confirmed that there is a animal human islands somewhere.
Dunno, perhaps they won't even highlight this so much. DBZ had talking (humanoid) animals to.
@marc0.:
I thought the same thing =] Donflamingo is really good guess
also guys 2 billion may not be mistranslation, because it's easy to see 1 more zero than the original written
it would write 210000000belli and he saw 2100000000belli
so my guess is that pekoms doesn't have good vision :D
This is why I love this forum..you guys do a great job of noticing subtle things. Are we sure it's a correct translation then? Does someone have the Raw?
Woah. That's a lot of nitpicking on a few little details. This is one strange fanbase.
Okay, shut the fuck up. This guy has said pretty much everything I wanted to say, in way more detail. If you can't deal with analysis of a series that's been running for over 10 years. Then not only will you find this fanbase strange, you'll be in the deep end of it.

LOL some people just over analyze everything. xDD

I'm sorry, didn't mean that so offensively. I was in the middle of editing that post to fix the wording.

You know, maybe he did and for some reason was refused. But my best guess is due to geographical reasons, as in maybe Big Mom was the closest and with any other Emperor stepping in it would have been too much of a hassle. It is an interesting thought though.

Buggy and Mr. 3
Ivankov and Inazuma
Crocodile and Mr.1
after reading Blue-san's analysis…WHY did Luffy give the treasure away.....Big Mom still wants of piece of our good ol' rubber boy.
2 billion?! What?
200,000,000 is translated in some languages to 2 billion. probably just a translation error.

It's what happens when scanlation groups don't bother with the QC.
What if Big Mom thinks there's candy in the Tamatebake?
I'd think the point on giving Big Mam a bomb is that now she will really be mad and go after the SH. She was probably fine with just dealing with Luffy if he ever managed to sail his way to her doorstep but wouldn't care if he died just getting there. Now the plot is set up that she'll actively get off her ass to kill Luffy.

It was to save Fishman Island. Luffy did nothing but pay her to change targets.

This.
Also, the fact that Nami beat the shit out of Luffy, Sanji and Zoro proves that it wasn't just some miraculous ass pull from Oda. Giving the treasure to Pekoms and Tamago is simply the typical -idiotic- behaviour of Luffy.
Loving it.
the 2 billion thing has already been corrected in magastream, now it's 200 million as all of us suspected.

i think this chapter is great and it once again gives us many info on the new world.
luffy prolly managed to solve everything somehow and traded the treasure.. i expect that oda will update us on what exactly happened (if he doesn't you're totally right and oda makes no sense).
oh and zoro and tachigi are bound to fight each other so no way in hell she would get weaker than him before they match (i hope once the SH's enter the new world that happens since smoker is patrolling the area right now)
great chapter, totally enjoyed it.

I'll take a stab at this somewhat
1. As for the treasure being given away. Luffy said he would give it away and being as he doesnt care about treasure like Nami he stick by his word, AND also I imagine that Big Mam's guy regardless of what she said knows that they need the treasure and thus took him up on it. I mean imagine if Zoro or Sanji were in his shoes. Luffy would be all pissed and only care about FOOD, yet Zoro or Sanji would be like "well still take your money, even though our captain said no"
2. As for the bomb? I think its just an insult on injury joke. I found it funny. I mean not only does Luffy declare war vocally against Big Mam, he is also going to send her a gift of gold, YET that gold is instead a BOMB. Now will this bomb kill her? No, but it will piss her off even more. Luffy's token of gratitude is really an attack. And all by accident, its funny.
3. Strawhats giving away treasure. Hell I expected the Caribou to end up with it, and strawhats not find him in first place. THe strawhats have been BROKE the entire journey and it seems to stay that way. If they ever have money it gets stolen or they spend it all on a party. Why did you expect something different this time. Besides don't they still have all of Moria's treasure anyway?
I must say, this was one messy chapter altogether , it seemed as if we were flying through it…

I will try to answer these.
1+2. Luffy gave away the treasure because after Luffy's brash words to her on the Den Den Mushi Big Mom agreed to accept the treasure in place of the candy this once and had parting words about definitely see Luffy soon in the new world. This would also explain why Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji parted ways with Pekomz and Baron Tamago without a fight.
3. This "additional plot" is because now that luffy and big mom are, to an extent, paid up. This bomb will cause big mom to come after him and only him. Plus it gives luffy time to get away from FI so her crew doesnt descend on the island. This transaction was between luffy and Big Mom. The bomb will be seen as coming from him and only him therefore allowing FI to escape her wrath.
To be honest, this cover story won't go much farther than Thriller Bark. I mean, all the character from Sabaody or later arcs already appeared after the time-skipt or are bounded to be important players in the coming events, so will not be shown now.
I believe all that is left now is: Kokoro/Yokozuna, Iceburg/Tyranosaur, Paulie/Lulu/Tilestone, Franky Family (2 covers?), Kashi/Oimo, Lola.
Since no villain appeared (except Wapol, don't know why), we'll probably not see Absalom and Hogback or the Impel Down crew. And all the pirates who appeared from the Sabaody arc up to now are too important to the curent plot to have their whereabouts revealed just like that.
Well your not helping it by being unnecessarily rude.
Who said I wanted to help? People that make the comments that someone is nitpicky for being thorough with their findings should keep that information to themself. I'd rather read an analysis than: LOL CHECK THIS GUY OUT, HE WROTES TOO MUCH HEHEE~!
Blackbeard's comment to Ace makes less sense with every new chapter. I wonder how much Oda had planned, and how much was still developing in his mind, way back when.
The gold was payment for Big Mom to change the target from Fishman island to him. The deal she rejected was accepting the gold in exchange no sweets that months.

what comment?
so he declares war on her and unknowingly sends her a box of explosives lol it's like a bugs bunny skit but instead of annoying elmar fudd he's gonna bug the shit out of an emperor

To be honest, this cover story won't go much farther than Thriller Bark.
Yeah, that's what I thought: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=34636&p=2489903&viewfull=1#post2489903
Wonder what's going to be up next. Wadatsumi coverstory?

And all the pirates who appeared from the Sabaody arc up to now are too important to the curent plot to have their whereabouts revealed just like that.
what villains? they are probably all in the new world already.
We'll see all villains in the end. I want to see aokiji, garp and sengoku together. Since we've seen wapol, there is achance to see ENEL and i wonder if he's already on grand line :D
Why? Elaborate on that pls? I personally think it doesn't especially seeing how she deflected the canon ball.
Her entire struggle was based around not being as physically strong as male swordsmen.
The way she deflected the cannon ball instead of cutting it makes it really seem like she found a sword technique which focuses on guiding enemy strikes and all their power in any way she likes. So in conclusion it's not surprising at all that this could put her on equal ground. Hardships that can make people become stronger aren't always physical ones sometimes psychological ones are as growth inducing as physical hardships. That said we don't really know what kind of training she's gone through so even though she may not have been wounded as many times or severe as zoro doesn't mean that she couln't show the same growth as him.
As a swordswoman she has found a way to fight on equal ground against swordmen with far higher physical capablities.
Blackbeard's comment to Ace makes less sense with every new chapter. I wonder how much Oda had planned, and how much was still developing in his mind, way back when.
You mean that Ace shouldnt be used to actually get hit by someone, even when this chapter shows that at least most of the fighters of yonkou-crews should be able to fight with Haki and by that being able to hit Logia-users. It
s kind of hard to believe that Ace hasn`t witnessed a lot battles against other NW_pirates who just like Peckoms uses Haki on a regular base.
i think this chapter is great and it once again gives us many info on the new world.
luffy prolly managed to solve everything somehow and traded the treasure.. i expect that oda will update us on what exactly happened (if he doesn't you're totally right and oda makes no sense).oh and zoro and tachigi are bound to fight each other so no way in hell she would get weaker than him before they match (i hope once the SH's enter the new world that happens since smoker is patrolling the area right now)
but she was weaker than zoro to begin with and since their first confrontation zoro has grown immensely (arguably as much as any person could develop in that time period). I'm not saying that Tashigi is fodder for Zorro but I think it's impossible for tashigi to be at the same level as zorro as you seem to have implied.
Zoro has trained for 2 years, EVERY single day with the greatest swordsman. As much as I like Tachigi, I don't think she's even close to Zoro.
