Why are you trying to create duplicate accounts to cheat and spam for? I don't like your aim.

What're you guys on about? The guy is clearly banned and only wants to create a new account! I'm sure he's changed his deviant ways, so let the man back in, you fascists!
-
I think we are in a desperate need for a new theme, especially considering FI Arc was kind of lacking. Dressrosa theme!!

Of course you won't. Nobody wants to see his demise, see.
But believe me on this one, bruv! You're going down!

To stop the stream of people who post "NEW CHAPTER THIS WEEK?" in the manga threads, it might help to create a mod-only thread that lists the SJ release schedule + any breaks/double issues/whatnot.
-
You mean like the stickied weekly Shonen Jump TOC thread?
http://forums.arlongpark.net/showthread.php?t=28240
Plus the weekly chapters usually say in the first post if there is not going to be anything next week.
Having the info available doesn't make people less lazy. They're still going to ask even with the answers readily available in multiple spots.

Plus the spoiler updates / info thread, for unexpected delays and the like.

What about the idea of using a mobile version of vBulletin… But as far as I know you would need 4.2 for it.
Don't like tapatalk...
-
I… still... plan... uhhhhhhhhhhh...
-
Easy easy, the new skin has priority.
-
Alright I have the mobile theme up. It's super plain, light, and boring, but it functions.
-
Is it auto working or did I have to set it up first?
-
It's not set to auto. You can toggle it on or off at the bottom of the screen (left side).
-
Well but now I fucked up… I can't change it back on my laptop to normal for some reasons it isn't there under setting and if use default style at the bottom he just won't do it
EDIT
Sorry brennen... But it just won't change back. Me idiot changed it under my own user settings instead of using your quick changer... And now everytime I log in it is the mobile them and under setting you can't change it backIf you you the term default style at the bottom of the mobile them it is just for the main site... As soon as I want to go into my setting it is the mobile theme as well.
could you please change it back for me?
-
Let me see if I understand this correctly… you changed the theme to the mobile theme, but rather than using the toggle at the bottom you changed it in your profile settings? Heh, yeah, that'd cause you some grief for sure. Try the link below, it should send you to your general settings page using the default theme.
http://forums.arlongpark.net/profile.php?do=editoptions&styleid=24
-
Exactly… And it worked... Thank you very much and sorry for getting on your nerves
The mobile theme itself is very good... Plain but good and is loading fast. Maybe with more time and if used by others it will be "more awesome" or even will auto work with mobile phones
But well... Once again. Thank You
-
sorry for getting on your nerves
lol, you didn't, it's fine.
Maybe with more time and if used by others it will be "more awesome"
I don't plan on spending much time on it, if at all, but if you have suggestions for making it better I'll see what I can do. Toggling it on and off should only be used via the bottom of the page (not the profile).
or even will auto work with mobile phones
This can be done already, but more and more phones are using browsers with full webkits and I wasn't 100% the style would even detect they were mobile devices, so I didn't bother. Plus, I don't want to confuse people who aren't using or don't want to use the theme by suddenly forcing it on them.

Will never do it again… I promise

Well I understand your point… But personally I don't like full web kits for mobile phone browers (tablets are for sure ok)... I enjoy the mobile versions more cuz there are loading faster if not at home and are better too look over... That's why people use tappatalk for example for forums like this
But who knows what the future will bring and the toggle is working fine as well
Great work

Cool! Thanks, brennen. For some reason when I changed it to mobile style and then clicked default style, it returned me to the normal theme but I was logged out (I always click to keep myself logged in). But this auto log-out has been happening to me a few times recently so maybe it's just me.

Check to see if you are using forums.arlongpark.net or www.apforums.com; the default site should now be forums.arlongpark.net, so if you are getting logged out it is most likely just because you are logged in on one (apforums) and not the other (forums.arlongpark), and selecting 'default style' is sending you to the other (forums.arlongpark). Make sense?

OHH. Yes that makes sense and you're right, apforums.net is still what I use by default. I think I'll stick to it though, it's easier for me to remember. I'll just remember to not fiddle around too much.~
Thank you!
-
Just log in to forums.arlongpark.net on your mobile or whatever and check the box to remember you. That way, if/when you are redirected, you won't have to worry about being logged out.

I was just wondering and in my opinion a great idea for the posters.
Inserting a like button for posts. Some posts mighy seem ignored and unread and might make a poster feel that his post wasnt good when infact we just dont want to reply.
It could be a way to let people know what the good posts are and if its been read and liked. Of course if we disagree we can reoly and explain X. (not a fan of the dislike button like yt).
It would make posters feel happy if someone read and liked and agreed to a post. I would definitley love to let someone know i liked theor post without always replying a "16 chars of nice" -
i am sorry if this is the wrong thread, but after a bit of time invested in searching, this was the best i could find. Sorry for not being the most active member. i just got one question and hope, you can help me out. is there any thread or possibility to get more informations about redon? I know that may sound stupid, but we get spoilers every week from a person which i didnt even know who he/she is. There is a great article about greg (just for example) at arlong park wiki, maybe there is some article about redon somewhere? Thanks for your help and sorry for taking your time. Sorry for my rusty english as well… :S

Try sending him a PM?

I can do that for sure, but maybe there is some article already available. But never mind, i am going to write him a message, thank you :)

Hello, I am kind of new here. I just wanted to say that I love this site and the great community that populates its corners. Now, I have a very small suggestion, regarding a post upvote/like system. I frequent Manga Helpers and they have this system of giving the forum members the ability to like/thank a post. I understand that a vote system similar to youtube would be bad as it could be used childishly to give huge positive/negative feedback, but the system I mentioned earlier is different in that it even displays the poster's name after liking/thanking a post. Often, I want to thank someone for an informative post or like a post's content on the fly, so a system that's designed to give the posters these tools would be great in my humble opinion. I didn't make a new thread about the issue as I can't post new threads so forgive me for posting here. Also, I totally understand if my suggestion is not possible to implement for any reason. Regardless, I still think this is an amazing site and wish for it to grow and prosper. Thank you very much for your attention and kindness, it's very much appreciated.

I suggest getting rid of the front pages news feed, if there are no plans to update it. I mean, the "latest chapter" is listed as "The Kamaitachi of Rommel" and this chapter was recently covered in the Anime…
-
Not sure if this ever got proposed, but your FAQ only says the following about Red names:
"–- Red; 1 Crimin Star: Senior - Members who have been around for a long time and/or earned the respect of the community and staff"
I´m not sure how this is done, but what about creating a thread in some section where the community members can nominate someone to receive the Red Star (with reasons of course)?

Hello, I am kind of new here. I just wanted to say that I love this site and the great community that populates its corners. Now, I have a very small suggestion, regarding a post upvote/like system.
Upvotes (and displaying post counts below users names) tend to ultimately be fairly negative systems, though a "like" button isn't bad. I'm not sure if Vbulletin style supports it, but I think the admins have looked into it before.

We're looking into a way to streamline the front page system. The folks that used to update it regularly just sort of… stopped. But as its is no one's job to do these things and entirely volunteer work, well... it is what it is.
I´m not sure how this is done, but what about creating a thread in some section where the community members can nominate someone to receive the Red Star (with reasons of course)?
Seniors are chosen by staff after much debate on those that contribute heavily to the site and go out of their way to be positive and insightful members. Be it by being super friendly to everyone, or just really knowing your stuff about the manga, or just from being on the site and active for 7 years. (But just being around for a while doesn't automatically qualify… meanwhile high quality in all areas can get the star in just a few months) Generally just a handful of people get promoted in a year, somewhere between 4 and 10 in a year, so its not done lightly.
Staff already has its own ongoing list of nominations, so having the forum suggest names isn't really required, but if you want to tell someone that you think they're super, feel free to drop them a message, I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

Following Purple´s and Wagomu´s promotions (and someone else?), i couldn´t find any thread annoucing this.
Maybe creating a "Promotions thread" could be done (in case you think it´s necessary) -
Stars aren't awarded, but fought for.
A candidate of fine mettle has to learn about their promotion on their own.

-
I've seen sandman feeling blue, Robzilla and Purple Hermit walking on sunshine and Wagomu embracing the green.

I've been on mlpforums a lot lately, and it has a lot of content that this site is missing.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Another example would be One Piece-specific emoticons. Like, typing ":)" will turn into a little icon of Robin smiling, or ":p" would turn into Nami, and "XD" into Luffy.
Like on www.mlpforums.com. I think it would make the whole site more connected to One Piece.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
A persons profile could show the number of "thumbs up"s they've gotten, as well as warning points and such...Does this site have warning points?
Also, renaming the sections to better suit the theme of One Piece would be nice…like, the creative section could be renamed after "Usopp's art corner" or something. The "One Piece discussion" could be renamed "The Grand Line", and "general discussion" could be renamed "Corrida Colliseum". Something along those lines. :)
Aanyways...so many upgrades can be taken from mlpforums. I think they're pretty well-organized.
-
The thing is that there's no real purpose of a "Like" Button on forums. Sure, you could make the argument that you could show an appreciation of posts by having someone "like" or thumbs up a post, but why? This is a place for discussion. If you want to agree with it, then agree in the post and back it up with an opinion of your own. I would argue that any benefit from a Like system is outweighed by any potential cons, such as a general degradation of posting for the sake of generating likes, which IS a problem on places on facebook or reddit (although either website's purpose isn't exactly to facilitate discussion in the same manner, so the voting system at least on reddit makes sense to an extent).
As for the current layout and organization of sections, I would argue that having everything clear, clean, and explicit is a major benefit to the site.

If something is suggested repeatedly, it should really be considered.
A "thumbs up" button that doesn't bump comments seems like an idea with literally no downside. Again, look to mlpforums. I think their "brohoof" button works nicely. -

A "thumbs up" button that doesn't bump comments seems like an idea with literally no downside. Again, look to mlpforums. I think their "brohoof" button works nicely. There isn't 'literally no downside.' Those systems have a huge impact on posting psychology. Just think of how differently you act in a conversation in real life than you do in one on facebook. 'Likes' are a mental reward and systems that include them see its users finding ways to get as many as possible. The intended impact is that posting quality increases, but in practice it promotes attention grabbing, regardless of quality.
These systems are largely popular and widespread, so we understand the appeal and demand, but they conflict with the kind of posting environment that we're trying to maintain here, so I wouldn't count on it happening.
