Season 3 (prediction)- The Rock Farm family were political prisoners when they fought Celestia as a resistance group as she tried to take over their lands. They escape and the mane cast must use the Elements of Harmony to protect the country's stability.

I sense a double meaning here for some reason, mostly because I don't see how a maze equals 'back where you began.'
That and, well, riddles are all about deception, and we've seen how Discord loves that.

Great start to the season. I definitely want to rewatch it though, since I was still pretty tired while watching it.
One thing though, why did Discord taunt the Mane Cast with those illusions if he could just warp their minds whenever he wanted? Eh, I guess he gets off on it.

Because its a great big game. There IS a fair way to beat it and win. Solve the riddle and get the elements and all. And games aren't any fun if the players have no chance at all.
that said, he cheats and apparently gets frustrated easily.

I was starting to question myself about following this series and waking up every saturday at such an unholy hour.
Then I saw the episode, and I remembered why it is this show is SO. EFFING. AWESOME. Bring back all the awesome characters and personalities and add in a fantastic villain role brilliantly voiced, and I'll be hooked for another season.
! Now I'll just hope that my fantasy comes true and the Cutie Mark Crusaders arrive to save the day by being more chaotic than Discord.

Well, they pretty much already spelled out for the audience what their talents are going to be (music, acting, and construction) so it'll be annoying if they drag it out too long
That said, it IS kind of their thing to be blanks.

So how did the two Ruling sisters split up the elements of Harmoney? I'm going to assume Luna got Laughter and Generosity. Celestia got Magic and Loyalty but the others I can't figure out. -

I thought it was music, athletics, and crafts. (seriously, when did Scootaloo show acting talent?) It is their thing, but if dragged on too long it's going to get annoying. They can still get into plenty of shenanigans blanks or not.

Athletics. that's probably what I meant. I mean… that's totally what I said.
One of them was able to take a forsaken death trap shack and turn it into a clubhouse. That's some skill there.
...All three of the CMC's blur together for me. I'd have to watch the episode again. But one was definitely singing, and one was definitely making stuff.

Sweetie Belle was the first obvious one, she definitely has musical talent.
Scootaloo is something about movement, she's a talented dancer and does awesome acrobatics with her scooter.
Applebloom made an awesome tree house from a hell hole.Also, the fact that they each did the wrong thing for the talent show was the biggest hint yet. Although I think it'd be really funny if they wound up doing something completely different to what has been shown.

I think that's a lesson in never ever rushing the resolution of a sub plot too early. When they get their cutie marks, the series better damn well be near its end.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

But the show would lose something.
The cutie mark panic is a pretty good metaphor for finding your place in the world, kind of a good thing to try to teach children.
Plus it's a nice subtle message compared to Twilight bludgeoning you over the head with an aesop at the end of each episode. -
