You're right, but the point is, they didn't. That's why the "everyone-learns-Haki" customs (or, to be more precise, the warriors-) still apply and make sense. I understand why you feel it's sth reserved for the "strong guys only", but that would make it just TOO much of a hax ability. Think of Aisa who simply was born with it, same as Otohime - I like the thought that it manifests itself in some people much stronger than in others, obviously coinciding with their own determination and "will", which IS Haki anyways…
So, look at it this way - since Haki is such a hax ability anyways, it's more likely that people don't get strong and have to learn Haki to do this, but they just learn Haki and thus get strong - or like Coby, awaken it at some point. It's bugging me actually simply because it's such a huge advantage, but since everyone is ABLE to learn it, I'm kind of fine with it. Actually, you could even say that only a few are even able to complete the training and learn Haki because not everyone has actually the ability to control it...
Sigh we won't really get to a fixed point here, shall we leave it for a while?

Okay, I am rereading and just finished the Drum Empire arc and something bothered me that I guess slipped past me in my previous read throughs. I am sure this has already been discussed plenty but I am interested in seeing other people's oppinions on Kureha's connection with roger. She always seemed abnormally strong in how she kicked through huge section of stone wall(http://www.mangareader.net/103-2259-9/one-piece/chapter-152.html) and how she was always very confident in her own fighting ability if she had to fight wapol.
The most obvious give away was the whole knowledge of roger's real name and the will of D.(http://www.mangareader.net/103-2261-7/one-piece/chapter-154.html and http://www.mangareader.net/103-2261-8/one-piece/chapter-154.html) Which seemed that she knew Roger on a personal level like Crocus hinted(http://www.mangareader.net/103-2212-19/one-piece/chapter-105.html). Im sure this has been discussed to death and have already developed my own theories but I am interested in what the people on this forum think.
The thing is she was still over 100 when Roger went through the Grand Line, and they had their own doctor in Crocus. She certainly could have met him, but the Will of D extends far before that and she had a lot of years in her. It seems more plausible to me that she had a connection with Shackey, who had been a pirate over 40 years ago or something, and is also pretty in the know and age defying.
The possibilities for someone who's now 141 are just too massive to assume it was something that happened in the last 25 years or so. But it's possible.
Well I definitely did not think she was part of his crew, I just thought it was interesting she knew roger's real name. There is just too much unknown about the world previous to roger's time, I am sure that there were other people with the will of D. all around Roger Just like how Teach, Ace and surely 1 or two unrelated and possibly non human characters not yet introduced.
The whole shroud of mystery surrounding kureha in those panels just make me wonder when and how Oda will bring her back into the story. She is old as dirt, there has to be someone out there who knows of her and will fill us in later.
Funny you should bring up Shackey because I was wondering about her as well and what her connection was to Roger since she was most likely not a part of his crew.
I also want to know if Whitebeard had the same crew when he fought with Roger. Marco is awesome, but he just seems so young to me. I would also think that Shanks would have a bigger reaction upon seeing him when he met with whitebeard rather than asking him to join his crew. Its been a theory of mine(though a far out one) that Shackey could have been Whitebeards second division commander since if marco really was WB's first member, it seemed that the divisions and the commanders were made as they grew, meaning that there was a second division commander during roger's time, far before ace. As I said, Shackey would probably not abandon her old captain, I just thought I should point that possibility out.

Pretty sure Oda has stated Luffy was seventeen when he left Windmill Village and nineteen after the timeskip, so apparently it took them less than a year to get to Sabaody archipelago.

Meet up in three years? If I recall it correctly, they were supposed to meet after three days but the message on Luffy's arm told the crew to meet after two years instead. Not three years, but two.

Second question: How do people understand "the D's do not fear death"? Is it complete fearlessness in all situations or in some particular ones? ZP1's post in the legacy thread made me wonder.
Because Luffy has freaked out several times at the thought of dying. That's why I always understood it as the D's fear death to some degree but lose any fear when putting their life on the line for something/someone.
With the ultimate fearlessness being when they smile if they know death is inevitable, because they are dying without regrets etc. Or was Luffy in these occasions simply panicking at the thought of dying without having tried harder to become pirate king?
He always says "I'm not dying here" though he also believes it's ok to die trying for one's dream. Basically bet your life but do your best not to die.If you do then that's that,it would have been whilst trying for your dream.

FI is within a bubble. The maps we've seen this chapters are looking at the bubble from the top.
Within the bubble, there's land. This is the island proper. The bubble is half-filled with ocean. That's why there's beaches and a harbor there. The other half of the bubble is air.
The "sun" part was explained by Neptune. FI lies near the roots of the miracle tree Eve. The tree is like the "mother" of the Sabaody mangrove trees. The Eve tree (ot at least its roots, I'm not sure) also shines when it's under the sun, so when it's day on the surface, the roots also shine with light and heat in the sea bottom. When it's night, the roots' shine stop.
As for the clouds, there's no explanation, but we can assume that it's similar to clouds in a real sky.
Finally, the sea monsters "fly" through the island because they're being supported by bubbles. Just look at the merfolk and all the "flying" fish, like Megalo or the NFP's monsters: they all have bubbles attached to their bodies (usually near their tails on in their mid-sections), allowing them to "swim" in the sky.

Akainu is the new Fleet-Admiral and his house is in the New world. And he hates traveling miles to get to work.
Seriously, it may hold a symbolical cause. Marineford was more of a ruin than an actual HQ after the war. Maybe people (or the marines) needed something greater to look at than the HQ being under construction. It may also symbolize a new start.
Or Akainu just wants to be closer to his preys.

The problem I see with this is more that the 3 Admirals have been introduced as exactly this trio… Same size, all Logia fruit users, matching colours (it's like some club I want to join :ninja:)
It'll be interesting to see if Oda breaks this up and how.

I really hope it's one of the already introduced Vice-Admirals. Anyone of them would do for me, since we don't know that much about most of them.

! We've already seen Momonga, doing things, being a good marine, having skills. I think he's a perfect Vice-Admiral, and I doubt he'll be promoted. Also, in chapter 598, we see Momonga is in charge in Marineford, the G-1 base (sort of) which implies that he's still a VA. Like Comil, who was (and probably is) in charge of G-2.
Spoilered because it's just those VAs, who are unlikely to be promoted.

I also think Lacroix and Ronse are pretty much out of the question, since they seem to be VAs mostly because of their sizes. Of course in the war they went up against the strongest, but still, they don't seem to be Admiral material. They're nice as VAs.
Then, we have John Giant. He looks like a pretty good leader, and his size helps him too. However, I couldn't imagine him as an Admiral. We haven't seen that much of him to make a good statement though. He's strong, he's leader-material, but doesn't need to be an Admiral to be great.
Now, we have 3 more VAs. Onigumo, Doberman and Strawberry.
Strawberry is a mysterious person with a stupid name and an awesome hat, also, with two nice sabers. He seems calm and experienced, like a person who knows what he's doing. His past was interesting regarding what we've seen of it. I say he has a chance. However, with Onigumo and Doberman, he gets out of the question too.
These two have the best chances I think. Onigumo seems like the type who doesn't afraid to get his hands dirty, I think he even enjoys when pirates blood are spilling on him (you have to admit, he looks vicious enough for that). He killed one of his own men without mercy, without a thinking, just because the poor fellow questioned his order about blowing up a marine ship filled with hundreds of their own. We know that he has a powerful Devil-fruit, and he can control it pretty well.
Doberman's fighting abilities are unclear, and to be honest, he should use some kind of a martial art instead of a sword. Like Onigumo, he's "Mr. Absolute Justice" who puts everything else behind, even his own people (when he ordered not to help the injured, but to fight). I was really surprised at how he behaved in the war: not helping the injured and shouting things like "hold their heads high so everybody can see our victory". I wasn't expecting that. At Enies Lobby, he gave me the feeling of an honourable and decent person, who knows what's right, and cares for his people (like not sending them to fight when half of them are almost dead). One more thing. His scars are impressive, though that doesn't really matter.
! If I must choose, I'd say Onigumo is the new Admiral (if we count the VAs only).
That's what I think about the whole thing. It's mostly built on opinions and feelings, so feel free to prove me wrong.
