Also nice job attacking the throwaway comments of my post and ignoring the actual content. Again.
If you're saying that's what you meant, fine. I'll take your word for it but you seriously can't expect me to assume anything about what you've been saying when those "throwaway comments" was basically you putting words in my mouth.
but I doubt there are any other groups save various World Government-aligned nobility, Mariejoa, and of course Saboady that actively discriminate against fishmen and merfolk.
If you think so but Nami not being aware of the conflict between fishmen and humans isn't evidence that the problem isn't widespread. It'd make sense for Nami not to given her history with fishmen on her lil island in East blue. Only thing Robin apparently wasn't aware of was the specific situation between fish/mer ppl on SA. She caught on quick and played along. I'm not all that sure she was completely ignorant to the general problem of discrimination against fish/mer ppl cuz she sure knew about discrimination already.
On his deathbed he talked about how he followed his ideals and caused problems for Otohime, and that she was right about them living peacefully with humans. Jinbe became a Warlord because he wanted to help Otohime after all the trouble they caused her.
I'm talking about the liberating and standing for freedom part which I feel deals with racists and those who discriminate. Now with that and everything else FT did with the Sun pirates, yes that caused problems for Otohime but it doesn't mean they shouldn't have been done. The way I see it between the two of them, one approach isn't going to solve the problem. Peace talks go a long way to solving the problem but actual action is also needed.
Pretty sure attacking anybody outside of self-defense or other pirates would be counter-productive at that point. But maybe I should grab yet another line from the page I linked: "It would only end in tragedy with the humans taking revenge back on us."
Why are you selectively quoting? Right before that he says "If we were to take revenge on the humans while full of bitterness and resentment it would only end in tragedy with the humans taking revenge back on us.." I specifically said I'm talking about Jinbe continuing the liberating and standing for freedom which would involve fighting against those who oppress others. If Jinbe is fighting for liberation and freedom how can you imply that'd he be taking revenge with hate in his heart? Not sure what's so hard to understand.
Ummm, hey, you know the whole slavery issue isn't specifically racist, right?
Outside of the free labor aspect (which is great for business) what part of it isn't racist? or are you talking about those that got slaves not for racist reasons but cuz of egregiously ignorant reasons like purchasing a young Hancock and mermaids because they're pretty? or are you talking about some ancient social norm where in war the victorious side gets to enslave the losers?
Save for a few civilizations (in real life) slavery inherently deals with some form of discrimination against a specific group. Racism is discrimination based on race.
Liberation and freedom is not directly tied to racism or discrimination.
Liberation and freedom is directly tied to those wrongfully oppressed in the story. Given what FT went through and what all the inhabitants of FI have experienced and in the context of the story I'd say liberating the oppressed is gonna directly tie in to those who discriminate and/or are racist ergo Jinbe stands up for what he believes in, free the oppressed by fighting racists. It's pretty much right in our faces this whole arc. You got characters thinking they can kidnap and sell other living intelligent beings who have the right to be free for money as if they were any other merchant good. I'm saying if Jinbe encountered that back then he wouldn't ignore it.
You're saying liberation and freedom isn't directly tied to racism or discrimination like the person who just said the Sun pirates stand for liberation and freedom wasn't a slave because his race is discriminated against. Outside of being dirt poor, getting in debt, belonging to another group greatly discriminated againist, and being easy to kidnap it's unlikely Fisher Tiger would have ended up being enslaved if he wasn't a fishman.
So continuing from my above paragraph, let's continue to cover what you missed from that linked page. How about we start with, "This isn't revenge for their history of discrimination." Hmm, Tiger says, "WE AREN'T OUT FOR REVENGE AGAINST DISCRIMINATION" and Zik says, "Hey Tiger's ideals are to attack people who discriminate!" I'm not too smart, but I'm pretty sure attacking someone for what they did to you is called getting revenge. Also pretty sure discrimination is is when people discriminate. Oh and hey there's still half a page of dialog there that I haven't bother mentioning yet.
I already addressed this but it's not just hey lets attack ppl who discriminate. That doesn't make any sense. I even explained it for you since you couldn't extrapolate from my first statement so you wouldn't be confused.
Also, I'm talking about other ppl who are discriminated against when I say attack those who discriminate. Maybe you didn't read it but I just said in the previous post "Now with what FT said on his deathbed, I'd say Jinbe would've kept that up. Not hunting down racists on some crusade or just out in about busting in to bars beating the crap out of any humans making racist fishmen jokes." What he would be keeping up is the liberation and freedom of the oppressed. So I don't know why you're struggling and repeating things like "I'm not too smart, but I'm pretty sure attacking someone for what they did to you is called getting revenge." I never said this, yet you think it. It's a good thing you started off by saying you're not too smart cuz when I've already said I'm not talking about revenge and you bring it up again anyway you sure seem the opposite of smart.
For example, "nothing more, nothing less" suggests their purpose isn't to attack specifically racist humans, but rather make a stand for liberation and freedom. This is confirmed when he says moments later, "they will keep coming to fight us."
So all the Sun pirates ever did, their entire journey, was just trying to get Koala to her hometown and beating up marines making sure not to kill them along the way. That's how they stood for liberation and freedom.
how do pirates (that is, people who live on a boat in the ocean) attack "specifically racist" humans that aren't pirate or Marine?
Sailing from island to island. Islands have ppl on them. PPL build towns and cities. The ppl live there. A society is formed. Racist ppl show up and fuck things up. Sun pirates show up. Sun pirates who sail from island to island liberate the oppressed. Rinse and repeat.
If that's a crusade against racism making them racist hunters you must have a real colorful view on Somalian "pirates".
They'd have to know where they are, right? Might even call such an act looking for them? Wouldn't 'hunting' and 'looking' be synonymous in that context? Do you know what a crusade is? Do you know what sarcasm is?
If this is really how you think in what other way could the Sun Pirates stand for liberation and freedom if they weren't sailing the seas going to different islands interacting with humans and freeing the oppressed when that problem was in their faces?
And no hunting and looking isn't synonymous in this context unless you're trying to spin it to put the Sun pirates in a negative light.
My bad for assuming
It's okay.
Your argument suggested that Jinbe's desire had nothing to do with ex-slaves no longer wanting to be pirates, but instead that he wanted to pardon the crew as a whole and in general.
I think Jinbe was looking to pardon all of them when they were with the Sun pirates, not just those in that panel with him. It may have been that some of them (in that panel) simply wanted to go back to the fishmen district and be w/e they were before they joined FT but I think Jinbe was looking to pardon all of them for being Sun pirates regardless of what they'd plan on doing next. The other 2 groups just went back to being criminals and I also don't think it was more likely that those in the panel with Jinbe were all planning to leave him on his own.
As far as inferences go, that statement, whether you meant it or not, infers that you think Jinbe wanted to pardon people he knew would go on to do different (criminal) endeavors.
After you already admitted to being confused and not knowing what I was talking about and not explaining why you brought up that assumption that I thought pardon = immunity I find it weird that this is the conclusion you came up with.
