Personally I'm against this idea, it was good in G/S but doing it again would ruin it in my opinion.
Not to mention becoming hella redundant plus the inevitable butthurt if a certain region isn't picked or god forbid altered in someway.

Perhaps this is just me, but I'd like to see the older regions altered. I want them similar enough to be familiar but new enough to keep me entertained.
omg soo damn excited right now.
was buying the magikarp from the guy on the bridge and resetting until i get the nature i wanted, and low and behold on the 8th time i ended up getting a shiny magikarp. first shiny this gen. i was afraid my shiny was going to be a stupid basculin since had been fighting them so much lately doing speed training. its not the nature i wanted, but at least its not a bad one.
man it seems like i'll never get a team i like. the more i play the more i keep changing up my team. decided to go with Mienshao instead of lucario, cause don't have that many atk people, most are sp atk. and in same sense i have too many sp def guys, so need to think of a good def guy. guess i could make the blastoise def. still have to do some breeding to get the nature i want for that. also got my jolteon from dream world, bred it until got evee i wanted with dream world ability and nature and got me an amazing magic bounce ability espeon. though not sure if going to use it. just heard how amazing it is, so i wanted it lol

well if all goes well and we get some big upgrade due to 3ds specs even the same regions will look different due to the better graphics.
I'm still praying that it ends up looking like animal crossing or something in graphics style, quality.
Just got Pokemon White yesterday and chose Tepig!
Anyone recommend me catch certain Pokemon early on or just catch whatever I like?
Get the cute little puppy on Route 1.
It'll pay off in the long run, plus it has Pick Up.

smart choice. grass starter though i like the best is the worst for story mode. there is a crap load of grass pokemon so a starter grass don't help at all.
and by far the best to have in this game is fighter, which tepig gets, not to mention as i said a crap load of grass means that fire is super effective
as for pokemon to make sure you catch while playing i would suggest purloin, pidove, sandile. those are the ones that i used a lot and they were great.

Ah thanks,I'll make sure to get one before I head to the next city then.

The fire strater is great for the story? Odd,I just chose it because I liked how it looked the most. XD
I was planning on getting a Sandile,I'll have to look those others up. Thanks for the info~
Also, if you want to have a grass pokemon that is a total tank, Ferroseed or Petil are your best best imo. And if you ever want to have another fighting pokemon Mienfoo is great (though it has shit defense and meh speed until you evolve it into a Meinshao).
Anyone recommend me catch certain Pokemon early on or just catch whatever I like?
Just choose whatever you like. A lot of Pokemon in this Generation can hold their own pretty well in battle.
Most of them have really good designs, too, so just go with whatever 6 pokemon are your favorite in this gen. Or you can train 18 pokemon and switch them out periodically. That could work, too.
Ah thanks,I'll make sure to get one before I head to the next city then.

well not sure how you took the STORY comment.
what i mean is that for most of the game, you wil find that a crap load of the pokemon are weak to either fire or fighting which the guy you chose has both

Sandile wrecks shit. Fast, fairly strong, learns earthquake, and his dark typing trumps half of the elite 4. Very worth using.
Beaten the Elite 4 + N
This was my party:
-Excadrill - lvl 57
-Galvantula - lvl 52
-Concudurr - lvl 53
-Palpitoad - lvl 53
-Zweilos - lvl 52
-Darmanitan - lvl 55
After transferring some pokémon for Soul Silver this is my current Party.
-Zweilos - lvl 52 (Aiming for a Hydreigon)
-Golduck - lvl 100 (Using him since Fire Red)
-Houndoom - lvl 71
-Excadrill - lvl 57 (Will probable swap him with Haxorus later)
-Tyranar - lvl 62
-Shiny Charizard - lvl 36 (the only one i got through a hack, caught it a lvl 2 as a charmander)
i restarted my game again on Black, chose the fire pig….though i might just restart and pick grass -only because i'd prefer more of a challenge and i'd also be able to use Darmanitan agian perhaps...
well not sure how you took the STORY comment.

Yeah I knew what you meant.
Beat Gym number 1 and the first encounter with Team plasma and got the C-Gear!
My current team:
-Munna lvl 8
-Purrloin lvl 11
-Lillipup lvl 12
-Patrat lvl 12
-Pansage lvl 13
-Tepig lvl 14

Your Patrat and Lillipup are gonna end up in the box once you start encountering better Pokemon. At least mine did, as my team looked exactly the same as yours (outside of levels) in the beginning. The only ones that I still use are Pansage and Tepig, and Tepig is the only one in my party. (as an Emboar of course.)
Not necessarily regarding Lillipup: though it probably should have been evolved, mine was actually really useful throughout the game and did well up to the final fight with N (I finally gave in when the story let me keep Zekrom and just boxed it since I never wanted to evolve it). For one thing, the little guy can learn Giga Impact…which not too many unevolved Pokemon can do.
Man the type system is kind of whack. It can get hard to remember what's good on what with the more arbitrary ones (Ground is good on Poison? Uhh why? Fighting is good on Dark, that makes sense I guess, but why on earth is Bug good on Dark?)

I guess balance mostly. Since that's why Dark and Steel were introduced in the first place.
This game became infinitely easier after I got the lucky egg. I feel like it made the game too easy. :(
Aside from that, it was one of the favorite Pokemon games to date! It's very well made and I'm looking forward to finishing all of the side quests come summer.
I felt kinda underwhelmed by this gen for some reason. The story is good, the pokemon are good, the world is nice….but its just too small. Not much to do after the main story finishes.
I wish they'd make the place alot bigger, and more ocean to travel like we had in the Hoenn region - where you could dive under water, and had to surf around to different places.
I want the game bigger

You haven't looked too hard then. There's a couple places to dive, and plenty of places to surf… including areas along the route you couldn't make use of at the time.
The game is just as big as older ones, it just doesn't seem like it so much because between the layout of the map and the doctors in the middle of every cave, it doesn't force a whole bunch of needless backtracking, and all the HM based puzzles along the way are completely optional.
It's streamlined, but its not really any smaller. (Well aside from Gold/Silver which combined two regions)
Also the big thing is, if you've played even one game previous, having a grasp on the element system and how to build your team to be balanced instantly cuts the learning curve and time spent tremendously.
My current team right now is:
Emboar
Tynamo/Zebstrika
Deerling
Sigilyph
Tirtouga
Scraggy
Im about to beat the 5th gym
Unova is actually a lot bigger than it looks.
Also a minor gripe I have with the GTS that they haven't fixed since D/P/Plt. There should've been a feature to allow me to view the Pokemon I am looking for in greater detail. Like see it's moves, stats, ability, and whether or not it has Pokerus (not that I need it since like 90% of all my guys have it, but it would still be useful to others).

I would like the Pokemon league to actually be more like the show. A more tournement style format instead of just going through a cave vcalled victory road fighting strong trainers.
The item bag is horribly designed. Its all over the place. But make no mistake about it, i do love the game.
Also - anyone notice that foreign team rocket guy from Gold/Silver in that house in the city where that 7th gym is? That was a nice little addition even if it didn't add to much to the game.
I beat Lenora and got her skull back from Team Plasma.
Team as of now:
-Tympole lvl 16
-Woobat lvl 17
-Roggenrola lvl 17
-Blitzle lvl 18
-Timburr lvl 19
-Pignite lvl 20
I feel like their underleveled, was anyone else around these levels?
Also,is their anyone in this game that's a Pokemon Nicknamer/Renamer?

Dark is weak to bug? News to me. Wish I knew that since Silver… if that's true.
Anyway, I should be getting my copy of Black tommorow. I have a good feeling I'll have atleast 30 pokemon to swap around for a mian team. Not really sure who is going to be final yet. It realy depends on what's overused on random wifi matches.

Actually - that looks about right atm. I'm impressed that you managed to get a full team and have them at the levels you have. I only got myself a Pignite at about lvl 20 something at that same point. Though i also have the sand crocodile now, and darumaka. I pla on getting that huge freaky bug poke that looks really cool.
This is totally my week it seems.
I got a shiny Pidgeot off the GTS for one of my Arceus. Anyone got any good recommendations for Pidgeot movesets? He's still below level 40.

I think the word you were looking for was "PIGDEEYPIDGEYPIDGEOOOOT!"
But I'm glad to see someone else here loves birds.

nice, well my pidgeot currently has brave bird, though sadly that is an egg move so don't help you.
sky attack is best alternative to brave bird, but sadly its a gen IV move, so if this is on your black/white game you can't get that either.
well i for sure like Roost for my birds. Good heal move.
Tailwind is nice cause even if you switch out you still help your pokemon's speed for four turns
well guess you should go with fly for attack, since pidgeot is huge in atk and not so much in sp atk. Or else pluck or aeriel ace. ariel ace never misses, but pluck is 100% anyway and eats opponents berry. so if you hate 2 turn attacks like fly i would go with pluck.
maybe u-turn? that way you can cast tailwind and then use u-turn to attack and switch to diff pokemon.
so my suggestion would be
roost
u-turn
tailwind
pluck or fly (fly is nice to have since you can use outside battle)
i guess depnds on your nature too, mine if benefit in atk so i think of atk moves. if yours is not you could use special moves like hurricane. not the best acuracy, but powerful and chance of confuse. which i hate being confused. or air slash is less powerful but accurate and chance of flinch. but shiny pidgeot is sweet, though in same sense pidgeot is HUGELY benefited by being given egg move brave bird
So I've been playing the Pokemon Pearl Version (that I never played) that I bought along with Diamond Version 4 years ago, and I have to say that people weren't lying when the they said this game was easier. Black/White seems a lot easier than Pearl Version, and this is coming from after playing both Black and White.
Pearl's also taking me longer to play through. I've been playing it since the 9th of April and I just got to Victory Road yesterday, while I was able to finish the main story to Black/White both within the month of march.
Maybe it's all the backtracking and HM-needing that makes it seem harder?
Maybe it's because the exp system in B/W isn't a complete jackass.
Seriously in my Diamond replay I was at level 39 at most by the time I reached Victory Road.
Best Pidgeot moveset would probably have both Heat Wave and Brave Bird, which you have to breed for, so you'd have to go without them.
U-Turn, Return, whichever flying move you want, aerial ace or fly, depending on what you're using it for, and something like quick attack to round it out. Pidgeot has a really small movepool.
Pidgeot got phased out by Swellow and Staraptor a while back.
Pity too, it has the best design out of all the starting birds.

Hm…maybe.
My Pokemon in Victory Road Right now are all either level 44 or 45, except for my Mamoswine which is level 49 (i'm gonna train it to 50, then swap it out for my HM Slave, Bibarel, so I can get through Victory Road).
....You know, One of the best things B/W did was eliminate the need to use HMs.
pearl and diamond had a bad system
the gym leaders were too damn easy you could easily sweep them all with one pokemon of the weakness of theirs.
but then as you guys said, all of a sudden you are at victory road and your team is underleveled.
black and white had much harder gym leaders. sure you could always find the weakness pokemon in the gym area, but you had to catch it, level it up and so forth before you walk in. and half the time they had something that screwed you over big time. like the lightning badge. its like you work on getting ground type awesome and then she has a fucking FLYING lightning type.

That was a really wierd fight for me since I had the same critter in my party.

I like taking my time on Pokemon games so I train using wild Pokemon,I've been trying to be even with the exp so they all benefit,I think the team is pretty solid though I plan to swap out Roggenrola for Sandile. (I think that's the sand crocodile.)

Yeah. I really loved Pidgeot waay back then. Lovely birdy - always had it in my team…..but they really fucked it over big time with the crappy stats and movepool. :(
Only good birdy we've had since is Staraptor...but Pidgeot will always be my No.1
Are you just talking about your own preference? Because last I checked Swellow was an amazing bird pokemon.
Are you just talking about your own preference? Because last I checked Swellow was an amazing bird pokemon.
My personal preferance.
To be fair, Pigeot was good until Gen III and IV. Then it got triply weakened: phys/spec became based on individual moves instead of type leaving flying with few useful phys moves, better birds like Swellow and then Staraptor came out, and Pigeot got stuck with two fairly lame abilities especially compared to its competition.
A lot of Pokemon from Gen I and II haven't aged well, hence the evolutions added in Gen IV for some, and the new abilities/moves from Dreamworld for others.

Poor, poor Sandslash. The new steel mole Excadrill outclasses it in every single conceivable way…
-move pool, (dig, earthquake, swords dance, etc)
-typing (STEEL secondary! strong to like 11 things! And a couple immunities! ),
-stats, (much better HP, attack and speed... slightly lower defense... which is balanced by the steel)
-abilities (sand rush and sand force are both good) .
It is improved in every single category and in every little way I ever wanted for Sandshrew. Seriously, for years I've been saying any one of those things would go a long way towards fixing Sandslash. Any one of them!
And the new mole got EVERYTHING.
And I hate it.
Are you just talking about your own preference? Because last I checked Swellow was an amazing bird pokemon.
Suicidal Swellow with Guts + Flame Orb + Facade + Brave Bird is something i've really wanted try out for a long time, but haven't got around breeding one..

huh that sounds interesting. i think i'll try that.
give it Roost too? for a way to heal itself from brave bird/burn damage?
or just stick with something like u-turn and switch out when weak? hmm maybe both, can't seem to find anything worth the fourth slot
Sandslash has always been sadly underused. And you're right Robby, with Excadrill beating him in just about everything, he's pretty much worthless now.
He's not worthless! I still love him! He has a MUCH better design!
He's just impractical. Much like my team of emongas.
Trust me, I know a thing about impraticality.
To this day, no team of mine is complete unless I use my Blaziken. This Blaziken was my first pokemon from my first Sapphire file back in 2003 (I've been using him for 8 years). His moveset is above average and his stats are pretty mediocre, not to mention Blazikens are, for the most part, outclassed by Infernape. But I can't help it, I love him too much not to use him in like 90% of all my teams.
Well Blaziken got an amazing Dream World ability, but I think that was banned competitively sadly.
