Rarity was a little bit bland to me until the episode where she got kidnapped. :D Still, each character has their own very distinct personality and I think that makes each one of them contribute something different to the show.

Just watched Bridal Gossip. That was a lot of fun. Needed to be a few episodes in to really appreciate. Does the Zebra always rhyme?
Oh. And also, this.
-
To date, I love how 'Feeling Pinkie Keen' wasn't afraid to use slapstick. Twilight was starting to become that episodes Wile E. Coyote.
-
Watched up to Episode 4. Good stuff so far. :)
-
I'm at 24 and I think I'm really starting to like it

@RobbyBevard:
I seriously want a gif avatar of 4:00-4:03 of that video now.

eh, it's Chrissie's.
I don't know how to make it smaller :(
-
@RobbyBevard:
Just finished episode 7. FLuttershy is still my favorite, but I do acknowledge once again she's mostly the least entertaining.
And a sketch of Derpy by Lauren-Faust is going on ebay for thousands of dollars. Part of the Japan earthquake relief effort.
Derpy is awesome… for a background character.
Pinkie is already going for more, but hey. Its amusing that out of 4 characters, Derpy was one of the four chosen.
That's Awesome! Derpy,DJ-PON3,Rainbow Dash and Rarity are favorites. Glad to see Derpy getting recognized! :D

It's been about a week since I've watched MLP because of school and this makes me sad. It's also kinda annoying because my bro keeps telling me what happens in the eps before I see them >:I
Also, just found a pic of the MLP characters as 'Galaxy Girls', another series by Lauren Faust :>

Why am I (sorry for the fans) annoyed with Pinkie Pie? I only watched the first two episodes though. (°˛° )

Ponies should stay ponies!!!! Or at least be drawn in a different style if you're gonna make them human!!!
. . . . . dammit, now I want to see Oda draw the ponies as humans.
-
I hunted for easter themed ponies. This was all I could find.

god i wish i knew flash as well as these people do
all i can do is sit here, clutching my hey arnold windmill, and go HOW DID THEY DO THAT
-
Is it flash? I thought it might be due to the consistency, but it has a lot more movement and expressions than flash usually does.
-
it's definitely a vector based animation program
-
Maybe its because its just being used as a tool, rather than the entire process, and they're approaching it more like traditional animation with actual storyboards and camera angles and trying to make it new with each shot and whatnot.
Unlike say, Aqua Teen which has some mouth flaps and just uses the same couple frames endlessly, or South Park which is actually really high tech and works to look cheap.
-
flash can be bad ass
Okay, so yes, Flash can be badass. Its just used cheaply on tv. Figures.
-
Dude, Samurai Jack was flash. :p
-
Dude, Samurai Jack was flash. :p
…It was? But... they showed video of pencil drawings! and background paintings and storyboards and stuff! And they had cinemetagrophy and fast action and EFFORT! I mean, I knew it was obviously COLORED digitally, but...
I guess all the traditional art in their work studios during the making ofs was to present the illusion of traditional drawing. (Serious there, not sarcasm.) Kooky
Looking at the making of again, they don't actually show any line art along the way. They just show a guy drawing one drawing the whole time. Kooky.
And now that its been said, I can look at it and notice some of the telltale signs of flash. Hrm. I'm just used to it being on cheap no-effort crap, I guess.
-
That flash was a little nightmarish, in a Ren & Stimpy sorta way.
But I had no idea Samurai Jack was done in flash. That's pretty damn amazing.
-
im pretty sure it was flash at least
I cant remember where I heard that though, so take it with a grain of salt. All I know is that people were saying it was ground breaking at the time it first came out, then all cartoons ever started being made that way since.
-
If Samurai Jack was flash (and I think I can see some of the signs now, with things that walked towards the camera, looking at it), then it was Flash with all the effort, layout and direction put into a traditionally animated thing. Again, used as a tool, rather than as a means to do the entire process in 5 minutes, like * a lot* of flash seems to be, where the characters just stand there and get lip flaps with one straight on camera angle the whole time. (Again, like Aqua Teen or to a much lesser degree, Total Drama Island)
MLP I'd believe being the same sort of deal.
I'll take your word on it taboo, what with you being the animation major and all.
-
I downloaded a demo for TVP Animation pro. I guess no one use it for serious things.. But it's pretty nice.
Yes this is now "animation thread".
-
I just went and ordered Samurai Jack seasons 1 and 2. taboo, I blame you.
@Sonic:
Yes this is now "animation thread".
Nah, it just off topic-ed for a moment as this site is prone to do. We actually have a thread for that. It'll turn back to ponies shortly.
-
I liked animation thread. :/
I think I'll make an Aizenpony…

Does that mean that there's a new Rule , about ponies ?
-
There's a Funny Valentine pony floating around.
I wish I could find it again.

RULE X.
Anything that exists can be made into a pony. -
Best rule ever .

I just watched up to episode 24 and I'm in love with Andrea Libman's voice (Pinky Pie/Fluttershy - my favorite characters).
How can Doctor Whooves be both a pegasus and an earth pony? I haven't watched enough Doctor Who.The show is good, I can't really call it great but then again I just watched 24 episodes of a show that lowered my testosterone to negative figures, so they did something right.

How can Doctor Whooves be both a pegasus and an earth pony? I haven't watched enough Doctor Who.Doctor Whooves is just a fandom name for starters. (Much like Derpy Hooves) And its possibly two different characters with similar designs. There's apparently two different voices.
Or maybe just a different regeneration. (The doctor doesn't die, he just turns into a new actor.)

Haha, the MLP craze happened even before the MLP craze. Do I smell a wormhole?

Well now. This is cute. XDPonies have found their way everywhere, it seems. :ninja:

MLP has never truly gone away, it's just the new show has injected a lot of new blood and excitement into it.
Plus, y'know, internet memes and stuff.
-
Just watched Swarm of the Century, episode 10.
Am I the only one who had a very strong sense of Deja Vu for the tribbles episodes of Star Trek?
And Pinkie's musical band of merriment at the end was pretty great.
-
Well, since MLP has become so popular here, I guess I just had to go and check it out.
Just finished watching episode 12, "Call of the Cutie." Not bad. The show's got some pretty good visual humor, but the writing leaves a bit to be desired. The characters are good too. Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash are my favorites so far (though I haven't really seen Fluttershy or Rarity yet).
And yes, it's girly as hell, but I suppose my testosterone can take it. I guess I'll try and catch a few more episodes when I can. Oh, and I don't know if anyone posted these yet, but…
