@tori22:
I found the animation to be just fine. The thing is, when I think about it OP has some pretty bad animation compared to other anime's such as naruto, but i always just tend to over look it. I mean, some of my favorite fights, now that I think of it have terrible animation but it's just different with OP. I find it to be just fine. AMV's don't work with OP, I only watch those every once in a while, like once every 2 months or so, but still despite the bad animation the fights and everything else still turn out to be amazing. I can see where you guys are coming from, I dont read the manga but for those of you that do I can see why you find the animation to be terrible.
Hehe, the funny thing about that is that I didn't read the corresponding chapter of the latest episode, so I actually didn't have much to compare to. This was because of the fact that, during the time that the Marineford Arc was going on in the manga, I was extremely busy in real life, so I was unable to get my hands on a few of the chapters and ended up disregarding them and reading up the following chapters instead. Two of the episodes whose corresponding chapters I didn't get to read include this one (Chapter 579) and episode 484 (Chapter 575), actually.
I could see how you think the animation is just fine as well; in the past, I used to be an avid fan/watcher/reader of Naruto, but eventually gave up on it for numerous reasons. After a long break from anime, I shifted to One Piece, and despite the fact that its animation wasn't as up to par with Studio Pierrot's, (the animation studio for Naruto), I loved it even more than the first time I was hooked onto Naruto. I would say that it's mainly because while animation's quite important in an animated show, story always comes first. In this case, One Piece's story was so profoundly engrossing that the decency of the animation was perfectly satisfying with me. However, when the animation becomes poor enough that it's enough to make the story seem bad (an odd contradiction) then I know that something is wrong at that point.
But yeah, the East Blue Arc was definitely the golden age of the One Piece anime; it's the kind of show that I would erase my memory for, just to reexperience all of the feelings and, well, memories that I attained when I first ran through it. However, that would also be an extremely stupid decision for me to make, if I was ever given the choice; after all, nostalgia should always be kept purely bred.
Anyways, I hope I didn't begin immersing myself into a sentimental rant again…but I think I got my point across. Basically, on the long run, if/when the One Piece anime ever ends, it should hold an enormous amount of good and bad memories that, when entwined, form an incredulous masterpiece that will always be unforgettable, whereas us long-term fans will reminisce on those random moments of utter failure and complaints, and those great moments of critical acclaim and mixed opinions; overall, a great show with its numerous, [un]preventable imperfections.
Ah, and, in my opinion, I used to believe that One Piece was simply impossible to make AMV's on without looking retarded as well, but after a couple months of random, on-and-off AMV-browsing, I discovered that it all depends on the creator, actually. For example,
, or
.
But yeah.
Almost…got off-topic there.
[[B]EDIT: Dear god, what's with me and long, pointlessly dragged-out posts?]
