For the 100th issue I think it's in April. Perfect timing

Oh yeah forgot, I wonder if this is the thing Viz and Funimation were talking about last year?
-
Ah man, this is awesome. The more recognition the better.
imagines a "Dream Team block" on Nicktoons
A guy can dream can't he?
-
Not meaning to get overly optimistic, but maybe this might lead into Nicktoons picking up One Piece if this proves successful?
-
Not likely. How many of those in their target demo are going to be viewing the streams?
-
I found where the "dragon team" ad came from: http://www.facebook.com/FUNimation
Even more advertising!
-
Funimation's plannin' something big man, I can feel it. Just the fact that their actually pushing One Piece ads in well populated places around the net is a big thing.
I'm hoping for some TV ads about the DVDs soon as well.
-

Yeah, not happening. They don't even do that for the Z series anymore, last time I saw a Funi ad on tv, was on Cartoon Network with DBZ season 8.
-
Commercials cost money, I guess it was more worth while to make commercials for CN since that has more viewers. And whenever there's some promotion like this from an anime company it feels like something big is brewing.
-
I wish they would've chosen a more serious looking Luffy, cause the face they chose is creepy as well. Like I'm a little bit turned off by it to be honest.

It is kind of a blank stare into Luffy, which is kind of creepy looking actually. Having a Luffy in his signature pose would be a bit better to me.
-
The ads up at ANN as well.

I know a lot of you are not Toonzone members, so I'm going to pass this along to you. A very generous member (G1Ravage) over on our forums divulged a heap of information after receiving Season Three, Fourth Voyage. I thought it may be of interest to you:
Commentary has Mike McFarland, Colleen Clinkenbeard, and Micheal Tatum. Mike mentions fans have been e-mailing him to warn him that "Character B" has lines in episode 419, etc., and he appreciates the heads up. However, he doesn't watch the latest Japan episodes, because he wants keep all his attention on the "current" episodes being worked on.
At the end of the commentary, as the episode's end credits are playing in the background, the theme you hear isn't Moon and Sun, but rather A to Z. I have no idea why. When you listen to the actual episode without commentary, it's Moon and Sun.
There is a trailer for Season Three Fifth Voyage, narrated by Chopper. Follows the standard season three trailer format.
I can't compare this to any broadcast, because I've never seen the Australian airing. Robin uses her appropriate euphanisms for the crew, including "Long-Nose".
About halfway through the set, there's a flashback where Chopper has like, two short lines, and I swear it wasn't Brina Palencia voicing him, although she was credited as such. (Chopper is unconscious for 95% of the set.) But when Chopper wakes up at the end of the set, it's Brina again. Maybe I misheard, but listen for yourself when you get the set. It sounded like Cherami Leigh filled in for her for that flashback.
Just about every time the Ark Maxim appears on screen, "God" appears as a subtitle over it (translating the kanji on the side of the ship). It gets really annoying after awhile. Once an episode, first appearance? Fine. Every new camera angle? Does Mato think we have short-term memories?
Episode 196's title is: "A State of Emergency is Issued! A Notorious Pirate Ship Has Infiltrated!"
On the dub side of things, one possible flub that some people might not like.
! When Robin discovers Roger's inscription on the Poneglyph, and you hear his narration reading it, he calls himself Gold Roger, whereas the Japanese Roger used his real name, Gol D. Roger. All other dub lines used Gol D. where appropriate except that one line.
"Creditless" Opening is again sullied by the dub logo. I assume at this point that it'll never change.

Nice. Thanks for the info Zach.
This should mean my S3P4 should be shipping out soon. :ninja:
And I'm surprised that there's a trailer for S3P5, considering it's pushed back release date. I wonder if this person would be able to upload that trailer. If it has even the slightest frame of the last 2 episodes (DBF) then it would most likely mean that Funi has acquired season 4.
-
I have to see the commentary myself because if Mike really says "the current episodes being worked on" then that would REALLY put my mind at ease
-
Yeah, I was also thinking that. I'll ask a person on Twitter I know with the dvd's and see if he can check.
-
-
this is so completely awesome, I can't even

Makes me feel better as well. Only thing is I wonder how long ago they made that commentary. Maybe the current episodes he was refering to were when they went back to the beginning.
Either way this One Piece Dragon Ball promotion is very nice and makes me feel like Funi is really trying to get the One Piece name out there in an even more positive light and continue with the series.

Assuming they are doing the Seaon 3 DVD Commentaries in order, this is after work has completed on Season 2, because the last few S3 commentaries have had the actors going "When will we get to be back in the booth?".
-
My god, people. I bet when we're in Water 7, people will be completely afraid of stopping production in Enies Lobby. And when we're in Enies Lobby afraid they'll stop in Thriller Bark. Ad infinitum.
THEY ARE NOT DROPPING ONE PIECE.
-
When we get any confirmation that work is being done beyond the originally contracted episodes, I will concede that any and all worrying is founded in paranoia. Until then, I think it's a bit unreasonable to take them dropping the series off the table.
-
Could easily be a mistake, don't get your hopes up, but on ANN they still have 5th Voyage's release date as February. I'm pretty sure it's a mistake though, since they had an article earlier about several DVDs being pushed back just awhile ago.
And I'm loving these Luffy and Goku ads~

That's just dumb.
The only reason people are worrying is because we haven't gotten past season 3's confirmation since they first picked up the project.

It is a mistake. They even have Dragon Box 5 still listed.

I am 100% sure they are not dubbing One Piece at the moment. It's not to say they won't in the future, but they are likely still negotiating with Toei.
-
When I saw the FUNi page on facebook with its profile picture that had Luffy and Goku, I jumped of joy. I'm very happy for all the ads they are giving for One Piece with DBZ, the "DreamTeam". Everything I've read here has been good news for me, especially the S3V4 info. Can't wait to have it on my hands and listen to the commentary….

FUNimation Embraces Anime Blu-ray/DVD Combos
Maybe they are trying to go this route with One Piece & they are still talking with Toei about it.
-
They're not going to sell a four disc box (two DVD, two Blu-ray) for at the same price as the current sets.
-
@Yuugi's:

Agreed. Movie combo packs are one thing (I would definitely pick some of those up), but to pack a series or part of a series in such a manner would not be cost effective.
-
I hate waiting. I had to wait for freeza saga to finish and for boo saga to get dubbed.
You'd think they would do these things faster now. Sorry for complaining like a beotch.
-

If they ever come out with another one piece movie, we can expect this. I don't think that plan was ever made for a series.

It would still be bad for sales if they do it for the series by the way I see it. Less people might buy the other upcoming sets if they began to release season sets so soon. Still, I'm definitely looking forward for any One Piece blu-ray releases.

Well it looks like RightStuf is now shipping One Piece Season 3, Fourth Voyage. I just got an email saying that it has shipped =D

Mine says "Reserved For Your Order". Yay!
Since there's a ton of you closer to FUNi's distro house who get these things mega-early, I have a request.
Can someone take a look at the Anime Source booklet and the Trailers on the disc and tell me if anything Hellsing is mentioned? FUNi announced they'd picked it up at AX2010, but we've gotten no more word on it since.

Well, we already have solicitations up to April 2011 so I doubt we'd see anything HellSing-related.
-
Bah. I just checked it, and I got "All backordered", so I guess i'll have to wait longer for it.
Edit: Of course, the item does say "reserved for your order"…

@Zach:
I am 100% sure they are not dubbing One Piece at the moment. It's not to say they won't in the future, but they are likely still negotiating with Toei.
And here's the point I was making earlier. Even with series that sale Funi has because taking "pauses" in the dubbing process and tabling the series until a later date. With the state of the anime industry as its in there seems to be this idea of letting go and moving on when something is ignored for at least a year. While I am happy about the new promotion of the One Piece streams in conjunction with Dragonball Z (something similar to what the Japanese did when Dragonball Kai began airing) its mainly for the simulcast streams. It doesn't guarantee any stable status of the DVD releases past Season Three.
As far as Funi series that are on hiatus; I can admit that Case Closed is pretty much a dead horse, Sgt. Frog seems to be rather borderline, Shin Chan seems to be getting a reprieve, and Hetalia seems to have a pretty strong following. But the similarity in all these shows is that there is a break in the dubbing process and Funimation remains eerily quiet on more episodes of said shows (and mainly I mean Sgt. Frog and Hetalia which came out within the last year) and more focused on re-releases or 3 to 4 more new "it" shows. I'm catching on to this pattern with them with long running shows and I guess what I'm saying is that during the spring/summer anime convention season if we don't hear a peep out of them about Sgt. Frog, Hetalia (especially this one), or One Piece those are red flags and they may start making the same dramatic cutbacks that 90% of the industry has already done. They're definitely going to finish stuff like Kai, the Dragonboxes, and FMA: Brotherhood and I'm pretty sure the One Piece simulcast will continue. But I'm willing to bet that Season Three may be the last One Piece english release we see this year.
Overall, the upcoming convention season (and stuff that happens around it) is kind of an acid test for Funi and will be a real indicator if there may be some issues on the horizon. Because if they're not working on a dub for Season Four at the moment chances are if they do start dubbing it this year it won't be until Spring/Summer which means the earliest we'll get a new DVD may be around…October, if were lucky.
Not trying to overwhelm the thread with too much paranoia just trying to get people grounded on what really may be happening. As a company they can't say anything negative professionally but we can read between the lines.

They're definitely going to finish stuff like Kai, the Dragonboxes, and FMA: Brotherhood and I'm pretty sure the One Piece simulcast will continue. But I'm willing to bet that Season Three may be the last One Piece english release we see this year.To tell the truth I wouldn't be too worry about Hetalia and put it on the list of things to worry about. The most likely reason why they haven't done any recording for Hetalia or announce anything involving DVDs is because there isn't enough material to release at a steady pace. So far all of the first Hetalia series has been put out as dubbed. Currently the second series (Hetalia: World Series) is airing in Japan (Simulcast on Funi) with only 40 episodes out currently. Fun can of course go ahead and dub the first 26 episodes and release the first season of World Series but then they will have nothing for a while. Either they are releasing nothing so they can release World Series months from each other or release the first set of World Series then have a long wait while the rest of the World Series is out. I think it best if they are doing the first. Either way Hetalia is selling well.
I think we are just overthinking this a bit too much and just wait and see. Clearly One Piece is a big thing for Funimation and in reality Funi is just a small company that can't do everything at once. Currently it looks like they have main focus on Black Butler and that is good.

Can anyone who gets the copy upload the trailer to Season 3 Fifth voyage?
And mine's on reserved. Probably won't get it until Friday/Monday, though.
-
No email yet, but thanks to you guys making me check, I found out my FMA volumes 9-15 I got for $30 shipped today, so I've got plenty coming in the mail over the next couple of weeks~

that is assuming the trailer will be on the set.

It is.
Someone already said that on Toonzone.

At least one person's already claimed that it is.
