Yea, Yemen is just a bunch of fucking sniping. Very unfun.

Did I mention that matchmaking sucks? 90% of the time I have to wait and then it finally puts me into a in-progress game.
Haven't had a problem with it so far which is funny since UC2's beta & retail multiplayer had that at times.
-
There, all beta reward requirements achieved. I thought there was a certain treasure set I had to complete for one, but thankfully no you just had to complete 4 treasure sets, in which case I completed 6. I warmed up to Yemen a bit, especially considering I started throwing a grenade up into a tower a team was camping in and wiping them all out. "Hail Mary" I believe the medal for that is called. I love how in the Uncharted universe everyone is a major league pitcher, I could be half-way across the map, but as long as I aim high enough and for the middle collum for it to hit and slide down it's good.
But the map is still waaay too damn large and you spend half your time trying to find someone, anyone!
All in all I'm not a MP kinda guy so, just like Uncharted 2, I probably won't play the MP when the game comes out. Not sure why I did these beta requirements as such, especially cause it is just for stupid emblem decals, but I guess I saw these requirements as a form of trophies and hey, it's Uncharted.
-
Beta extended till tomorrow night.

Just checked my stats, and I surprised myself! I figured the scale would be tipped waaaay in the favor of me getting my ass killed. In fact, I only have 113 deaths over my kill count. Nothing to brag about, sure, but I expected double the deaths over my kills! Guess I'm too hard on myself… but boy playing it sure seems like I just die every corner without a kill, maybe the mind just pays attention more when you die than when you kill.

Nolan North unboxes the Collectors Edition:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/08/25/uncharted-3-drakes-deception-collectors-edition-unboxed/ -
Yeah, I'm getting the collector's edition. That Drake figure will look nice next to my Cole figure.
-
Aw man, at first I wasn't gonna go for it, but after that, I just migh spring the 100 bucks for that collecter's edition.
-
I am in such debate with myself to get it or not. Honestly, the only thing that does it for me is the statue. The box is nothing special, the steelbox has a very meh cover, and the necklace and buckle is nothing to me. But this is by far my favorite series this generation, the first game was my first current-gen game… so I feel owning a larger piece of that would be nice. But the inFAMOUS 2 Hero Edition dropped down to $60 a month after release, so I'm tempted to wait on this.
-
So get this…
Apparently Sony and Subway (of all places) started this promotion today to get people more into buying Uncharted 3. I'll spare you the details, but Subway's Taste For Adventure sweepstakes is giving just about anyone who buys a large or medium (i cant remember) drink at Subway... starting well... now... can redeem a code found on the cup at subway.com and play the full version of Uncharted 3's multiplayer.... a month early. Not only that, but they claim that everything you unlock and all the levels you gain will carry over when the game is fully released.
....yeah you heard me right.
Just buy a drink with a code on the cup. Go to the website. Give em your e-mail/birthdate/etc and you can redeem a single reward. The reward you'll want is the early access to the FULL MULTIPLAYER for the game. Sure it'll end on the 31st of October... but they're basically giving us a month of the damn multiplayer and our unlocks and levels carried over if we decide to buy the game... for the price of a drink.
That's.... kinda fucking cool.
Looks like you can unlock Subway t-shirts, 5 dollar footlong taunts, and subway collectables in the game. Pffffft! hahahaha!
The trailer makes me feel like a total whore for actually doing this.
oh and here is some footage from someone who's already redeemed:
Oh and there's other prizes and shit.. but I don't care about all that.
-
Downloading it now.
-
Downloaded and up. Honestly, I'm probably just going to play a single game as I hear doing that may get you some bonus (maybe not, but meh). I don't care for the comp mp at all, and sadly there is no co-op in this, it is grayed out along with the singleplayer. This also all feels really dirty… yeah, a promo which gives you items and mp early is cool, but the whole marketing whoring is just waaaaay overboard with this. I'm sorry, even if it isn't their doing, I kinda lost some respect for Naughty Dog over this... it's... just shameless.

Well it's clearly marketing, but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a win win for everyone involved. You eat close to decent food, you get to play a decent multiplayer for a month and get other prizes in the multiplayer. And like it or not, marketing is real and really needed to sell things.

Uncharted is a proven IP just like Halo or Madden they can afford to be shameless.
-
I dont see how the marketing detracts from the experience. Yeah the promo is shameless and picking up subway icon treasures in game makes me laugh…. but in the end, it's an important process in this ruthless industry full of ruthless competition and fickle gamers. Honestly I feel that the Uncharted series is a high level enough of an IP that it can sell on name alone... but then again, it is going up against some other big titles this november. Getting the word out and keeping the upcoming sell fresh in people's minds is very important. Not everyone is as up to date or plugged into gaming news or even gaming in general to really care. They've been talking about Uncharted 3 for quite a bit... and I SHIT YOU NOT, I still get regulars coming in my store and seeing a poster and going "OH MY GOD! THEY'RE MAKING A THIRD ONE?"
Marketing is important. Making these games and paying employees costs enough (as does marketing)... so they HAVE to sell it. Now yes, it'd break my heart to see a Taco Bell clan in Skyrim... but most of the time, the finished product doesn't pull shit of that caliber. And for some reason, I doubt we'll see the subway treasure pickups in the final build of multiplayer. Me thinks it's just for the promotion. YES, you will see players who carried over their Subway hats/shirts and footlong taunts. But I doubt we'll see anything in the campaign.
But still its a pretty cool deal. I don't know many A list games that let you play a major component of their game A MONTH EARLY, and keep what you earn... for the price of a drink. And the real kicker is YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THE GAME IN THE END. Hell, most gamers put a game down after a couple weeks. They're letting us basically play for the price of a rental... for a whole MONTH.
Now if this were some kind of deal that wasn't really worth it... then I wouldn't participate. Although I eat Subway almost every work day on break... so business as usual for me.

5 Dollar Footlong taunt is GODLY!
-
What I find funny about the Uncharted series so far; Is the 1st one was mocked for being unoriginal and other crap, Yet the second is hailed a landmark game which apparently does everything better than anyone else. Kinda hypocritical in my opinion.
-
How is it hypocritical when you're doing it better than everyone else? They took something that worked and polished it so it rose above itself, and everyone else by default.
-
Uncharted 2 wasn't too much different from the first aside from having some more characters, being a bit longer, and having multi player..
-
5 Dollar Footlong taunt is GODLY!
If I see anyone on my team use that taunt, I'm killing them.
@Green_vs_Red:Uncharted 2 wasn't too much different from the first aside from having some more characters, being a bit longer, and having multi player..
Because being an all around better game doesn't count as being "much different."
-
When phrased like that it really doesn't.
-
Just read that Uncharted 3 has went gold, so it's ready for release.
Also the Subway Multiplayer updated today to include 2 "new" maps, which are actually two updated UC2 maps and a new gun.
-

Naughty Dog has been known for being [what people may call] "unoriginal", actually; it's just that any lesser developer would pale in comparison to the amount of talent and skill that ND implements into their games, since they're capable of shaping the ideas they took from other games into something so polished and fun to play that all you're really left with is respect for what they've done, rather than feeling like you're playing a ripoff of another great game that has been introduced into the mainstream video game media.
Concerning what the critics have said, though, I don't think I've even witnessed anyone majorly criticize Uncharted for being unoriginal, to be honest; most of the criticism stemmed from cover, graphical, and enemy wave issues, if I recall correctly, but it probably depends on who you're referring to. Also, the main reason UC2 is praised isn't because of its originality or innovation (leave it to the EAD to surprise us with something like that…those talented, professional bastards...) anyway, but rather, its immersive, cinematic experience and almost flawless pacing. But hey, whatever a person prefers or believes is respectively their right, and I shall not try to provoke that..
-
I seem to remember that people mostly loved Uncharted 1, especially since it was one of the best-looking exclusives early in the PS3 lifetime. If anything, it just didn't get the recognition 2 did because it came out when the system cost a month's mortgage payment, so nobody had it.
-
Perhaps my weird rant about the criticism of the UC series wasnt properly spelled out so whatever it feels that way to me.
-
Reviews are staring to trickle in now. Great scores from pretty much everywhere, I saw IGN giving it a 10.
-
Best game ever? I think so.
-
Well, a gaming site got ahold of the game and SOMEHOW got Twitch/Justin.tv to allow them to stream it early. I went there just to see if it was the real deal and instantly got treated by a spoiler.
! He was playing as kid Drake with younger Sully helping him escape from bad guys.
They had only started half an hour ago, so it's real early on in the game. -
Naughty Dog is starting to really worry me. First they jump on the multiplayer bandwagon cause it is what's popular, then they do this huge marketing campaign with Subway, and now it's been revealed that there's on-disc DLC in the form of Uncharted 2 multiplayer skins that you have to buy via PSN to unlock.
-
Wait I don't understand. Uncharted 3 has multiplayer skins for the game prior? Or is it Uncharted 2 skins for Uncharted 3 that you have to buy? Kinda cheap to make DLC on the disc that you have to pay for. But most companies are doing day one DLC anyways so.
-
I didn't realize this game came out so soon. I thought it was towards the middle or end of November. Got a text from Gamestop saying it was going to be available tomorrow .

The latter. They're taking the skins that were available in Uncharted 2 and putting them in Uncharted 3, you gotta buy them as DLC to use them… but they're already on the disc.
-
I really hate day one disc locked DLC. I ended up buying the "Fortune Hunter's Club". All I really want out of Naughty Dog is for them to balance their multiplayer. This Subway promotion has been pretty bad considering the first rate treatment we received back in June/July. I'll be playing the single player all day today and within the next few days will be jumping right back into multiplayer. God, I hope that they have it all sorted out.
-
Just picked up my limited edition .
-
Got through all the stuff in France last night. Tried a bit of the online features. The progression system is bananas.
-
Ummm great game! goes and plays more uncharted
Seriously, it's like my favorite movie!!
Plus cool multiplayer!
-
Awesome. Got a deal where if you get this you can have £10 off any upcoming game. Gonna use it on Zelda. Granted I was trying to hold off buying this until it's cheap but I suppose I can just resell it as Zelda credit.
-
I'm stuck in France. Can anyone give a hint on how best to use these grenades? The buttons are confusing me.
Other than that I'm loving this game so far. -

Other than that I'm loving this game so far.Just tap L2 to quickly throw one off. Hold down L2 to aim it.
Simple as that.
-
Just finished up my playthrough of the campaign…. words could not describe how pleased I am. Fun game, a few annoying parts though.
-
I loved the hell outta this game. I finished it earlier in the week. I'll probably do a run through on hard this weekend, so I can do a run on crushing. I'm more than pleased with this purchase, but I kinda knew going into it that I was bound to love it. I'll be seeing you guys on the multiplayer!
-
Oh hey this is a cool game, I think I'll give it an 8/10.
-
Feels like more of the same from Part 2 but I dig the story and the pirates section. Cool stuff.
-
This is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest game I have ever played! I'm serious I dare someone to name me a better one….....yeah thats what I thought.
-
I just finished the Syria part and am loving it.

Naughy Dog is going to be releasing a single-player patch to change the aiming back to how it was in Uncharted 2, as well as add motion-blur.

Naughy Dog is going to be releasing a single-player patch to change the aiming back to how it was in Uncharted 2, as well as add motion-blur.
Thank god, the aiming was driving me crazy.
-
What was the difference between the aiming in the 2 games?
-
They added some form of aim-assist (only in SP) that is non-reversible in the options menu. it's hard to describe and I may not have even noticed that much if I hadn't just played U2 last week to prepare. Basically whenever you L1 aim and pass the cursor within a certain range of an enemy, the reticule movement slows down significantly and adds some really weird acceleration effects that make it much harder to hone in on precise spots. It makes for really shitty effects like if an enemy is running at full speed across your range of vision you can't actually catch up to them because the reticule moves so slowly.
The weirdest thing is that although for the most part this shitty aiming is only in SP and not MP, according to some people one of the sniper rifles actually has that effect online and even more baffling, it WASN'T EVEN PRESENT IN THE MP BETA, so some genius at Naughty Dog must have added this shit at a late stage, because Uncharted 2 controlled absolutely fine and now it plays a lot shittier. Tweaking the sensitivity will help a little bit but it doesn't remove the change in response over enemy targets.
