Is is possible for the main character to be zero-dimensional?
Felch Discussion Part 4

Given how Kubo treats his characters, yes it is.
-
Is is possible for the main character to be zero-dimensional?
Who ever said character depth went from one to three.
-
@Tokoro:
Was I the only one laughing when Momo got stabbed in the anime? Sure the whole "you guys" bit wasn't as long as expected but Momo's stabbing was just hilarious when you know to expect it.
And the Omake…honestly Sasakibe is such a forgotten character he could have just stood there with the barrier the whole time and no one would have noticed. At least Aizen dealt with him in an appropriate manner. (now all we need is how the heck Kensei lost to a living fire extinguisher)
Same here! As surprisingly good as this episode was (seriously, the anime is so much better than the manga it's ridiculous - though not a particularly hard task), I cracked up when I saw that!
As annoying as Aizen "killing" everyone off was, it was actually kind of chilling in the anime.
You guys are sick, lol. This is the last time I'll say this since we're now past this point in the anime, but I feel bad for her every time I see the scene, even if she's a fictional character. It's quite sad how Kubo treats her and many other characters, really.
Am I the only one who felt even worse for her when Hitsugaya kept pushing his sword deeper into "Aizen"'s chest?
Anyway, the frustration of the Momo stabbing/abusing aside, this episode was SO MUCH better than the manga it's not even funny. It's quite sad that Kubo's work can only shine in the anime, because the manga is supposed to be better than it's predecessor like with One Piece. But I give the anime producers props for using a combination of good voice acting all around and an excellent choice of music scores to turn a stupid scene into a really chilling scene, even if the idea behind it is still just as stupid. My favorite scene is definitely while Gin's thoughts are running and that lovely "Treachery" movie 2 piece is playing.
Oh, Ichigo's "Guys… what are you doing?!" at least came across slightly less ridiculous because you could feel the sympathy in his voice. But we still get no explanation as to why he was just standing there. I guess he was in shock? Perhaps next week we will get a little bit of info on what happened before old man Yama gets crazy.
So what else do you guys look forward to animated? There's a ton of bullshit that gets worse and worse, but if I had to pick anything, I guess it'd be Yamamato's fight, Isshin, Yoruichi's new outfit (shameless pervy plug, I know, but come on…), Gin VS Ichigo for the lol's, Ichigo's friends versus Aizen for the lol's (maybe they'll toss the mod souls in for more lol's) Butterflaizen for the lol's and Gin's betrayal. Oh, and while it had so much wasted space in the manga, you have to admit Final Zangetsu Mugen will be pretty cool animated.
So basically everything to look forward to is pretty much for kicks of how dumb they are. Maybe if we're lucky they'll do the fight against Yammy.

bleach back this week or one more week break?

I loled .
And realy with Kubo's speed , we'll know what this new arc is about in roughly…..30 chapters . A little optimistic , I know .

More like 30 chapters of set-up for the real meat of the arc…which will probably be double that of the whole Arrancar mess.
And to those who think Ichigo is "deep"...not really. He's about as normal a kid as Yusuke without the juvinile hall record. And that's before he just goes through all that other crap.
-
It just feels weird that an arc finally ended.
Unless I've been Aizen'd into thinking an arc ended of course.
-
Since when were you under the impresion there was an arc ? Bleach has been nothing but 423 oneshots and omakes thus far !

(in tone of Bob Dylan) "EVERYBODY MUST GET AIZEN'D!"
Seriously, regardless of whatever putrid direction the series goes in next, the story we've put up with for all this time is done (well since Shinji popped up)

Who said Bleach goes from chapters 1-423?
…
Actually, that last sentence scared me a little.

well please count the 'pendulum' chapter lol

Kubo , because of the whole -110 to -97 , -17 plus the extras etc.
Also I don't think there is anyone here who was a fan even before this arc . I know we have a hanfull of 05 members but I don't see 'em posting here .

So next week the trolling will return.
I can't wait.
-
I hope next chapter is Aizen breaking out of prison going "Just as planned"
Even better if it's only been a few days.

The final transformation of a Bleach fangirl.

Also known as "getting Kubo'd".
-
LOL hard
at first i was "these girls are prety"
but then..when i looked with more accuracy
" OH SHIT.."next week(as Iceborg said)
the trolling will continuehun..a bleach with no ichigo or no aizen ?
wheres the fun ? -
Since when were you under the impression Bleach was fun?
-
i know…i know
forget about the "fun"
how can the plot move from now ? -
Eh. I remember when Bleach was new. And was nice. Inoue's brother as a hollow, the secret about Ichigo's mother's death. Everything was new, and fun. I think the series started piling up shit about the moment the fight between Ichigo and Byakuya started. I mean - Zaraki was awesome. And now? Man, how did Kubo screw such an awesome beginning. Oh, yeah, Aizen.
For me it's just a gag manga now, with nice big pictures perfect for colouring. And minimum text…

The omakes for Bleach are far better than the story itself. Seriously, you guys should read them if you haven't. Kubo can actually be funny from time to time.

What exactly counts as being a fan of this series? I follow it week to week, and I like many of the characters, but hate the plot and pacing. If I'm a fan of anything it's the anime. I just follow the manga because it's further along and I want to see what happens next.

Yes he breaks out of Impel D…jail and escapes with the baddest prisoners ever and plots to take over Soul Society. Ichigo asks Yamamoto what the King's Key is and Yama is like what "key?" I thought Aizen just wanted to destroy a town? So Aizen appears and says: "It was all part of my plan, now these guys you see here are so strong and we will go into hiding, getting ready to take over SS completely." Sound about right.

Maybe Kubo's biggest problem is he started taking himself way too seriously around the point the conspiracy crap started and it never let up. I mean, maybe if the series was a bit lighter with some of the weird stuff, it could have been more like a modern Flame of Recca. (finally finished the cave arc…it's like everything that series did right Bleach screws up royally) But then again...I guess that's just making excuses by trying to make Bleach like a good manga.

I agree with this, although my opinion is slightly different.
I'll be completely honest. The first time I saw the SS arc and saw Aizen's betrayal, I was completely surprised and really didn't see it coming. I still remember the shock I had when he stabbed Momo the first time. So my point is the basic original idea behind the conspiracy was actually a brilliant theme, much like how the CP9 agents were revealed in One Piece Water 7.
What happened after that is Kubo lacking the ability and story telling skills to make use of such a plot twist and to flesh out his villain properly. Making himoverpowered? Fine, only if you can come up with a clever twist that is his weakness, like how Luffy went up against Crocodile as an example. Aizen went from being a respectable villain, one I liked quite a bit actually, to something of a joke. And the final battle was just pitiful, even if I actually liked the final attack Mugen. And he also lacks character development, as we all know. I mean, all the characters are exactly the same as they were when introduced… some having gotten worse.
We can't be the only ones who feel this way. The trolling on Kubo's Twitter should be an indication of that. I believe it was done by someone in Japan.

Problem is that it was perpetrated by a shipper – batshit one, at that. Makes any input against Bleach fall short of valid when it expresses the burning desire to kill Orihime's VA.

What?? Seriously?? If you don't like a character, fine, but don't take it out on the VA who's just doing their job. Sheesh…

Shippers have no lives. Therefore, they must pursue and take the lives of others to sustain their clammy shells, so that they might bring themselves enough time to seek out a bright-haired male who will complete their unholy pairing. The soul of this opposing character must be taken from every existing outlet, and sacrificed to the dark gods hiding in the multitude of tissue boxes at the side of their bed.

There are many people who don't have lives out there, and 97% of them aren't looking to sacrificed someone.
No, this goes beyond social issues to the point of plain insanity. In fact, they could fit right in with Aizen.

I have some of them on my PC, but I have to find them. I'll try to gather as many as I can and upload them for you guys.
Not all of them are great, but there are some nice ones. Some of them were animated in the anime at the end, but some of the ones I really like weren't, like the festival omakes and the "create a game" omakes.
The pic Vanessa posted above is from one of the omakes that were part of a side story where the Soul Society was trying to make a festival to promote things from the world of the living. Each squad as an omake where they present different ideas. Momo makes glasses-shaped cookies for it (this happens not long after Aizen's rebellion) and the others remark how they remind them of Aizen. Then Yachiru grabs the cookie and does her infamous impression of Aizen as you see above, the same line he said when he rebelled.

Yep, I've read them. Reminds me of early Bleach, where gags were aplenty.

Heh, I'm the same. Sure, I'm willing to mock Bleach because there's many suckish things about it, but I can find some good in the tattered mess too.

Ahem.
I was actually a fan back when the arrancars began pooping up, and was even a little exited for the HM expedition (even though it was a blatant SS retread). You all know what happened. WHITESPACE galore, endless filler fights and bogus ends to them (with quite a lot being longer than the arcs final fight!!), side characters fast fading into obscurity…combined with catching up to the series and being hit full force with Bleachs concrete-like Pacing (its about as fast).
Just watch as Hitsugaya becomes the new protagonist, Kubo decellerates his pacing even further, and retires in 30 years filthy rich after writing historys longest manga (4 arcs total).
The Side chapters can be interesting though. There was one involving Renji, Kira and hinamoris first day at work, and another "chapter 0" one, where Rukia and Ichigos first meeting is set up.

Honestly I was sort of joking a bit with the comment. A lot of SS seemed to be throwing aside what made the Daily Life arc interesting and it just seemed to pile up once the Aizen crap began. It's like Kubo had no idea what to do with him, so he just made him uber. Then again, he really had no idea what he wanted to do after that with everything in the Arrancar arc:
-I'm going to make the Vizard relevant…no, I'm going to forget about them...no, see, here, they're tied to Aizen...except they barely do anything against his forces outside the Kido specialist Hachi
-I'm going to make these mysterious villains who are slowly building up their power...better yet, I'm going to make 10 uber ones without hinting anything about their true power...OK, maybe I'll make Aaroniero a Gillian so he'd lose to Rukia...and maybe I'll make those "Gillian" tied to that cat-man something closer to Adjucas...you know what, screw it: those Vastrolordes were in the Espada already and I'll just make them fodder due to them being monsters.
-I'm going to make that orange-haired girl relevant somehow...that's it, I'll have her kidnapped...maybe she'll actually do something with her special powers to stop Aizen...never mind, I'll just keep her in a love triangle with the Edward-looking one and that main character with maybe the cat-boy thrown in...and I'll have her helpless and weak yelling "Kurosaki-kun" over and over.Need I say any more?

Both of those were animated into episodes. And both were quite good as well.

Well we're all entitled to our opinions. I still believe the SS arc had enough plot twists and character development to stay interesting for most of it. Really, one has to wonder where Kubo's brain went afterward.

Also the bodies in Szayels lab, the Ichigonator transformation and Nel.
But most of all, I love how Kubo rubbed in our faces how Mizuiro cherished Ichigo, had missed him while he was gone and acted weird. Which caused everyone to wonder everything from "ohmigodhesAizensaccomplice!" to "he's the owner of the foot! He'll be super powerful and fight Aizen" and "SPIRIT KING IN DISGUISE"!! (once they remembered who he was, of course)
A few chapters later he tosses a spraycan-bomb at Aizen, then fades back into obscurity.

Honestly outside a couple notable fights (Uryuu/Mayuri, some aspects of Kenpachi's stuff), SS seemed to collapse as early as the final Ichigo/Renji fight. Sure Kubo still has an ocasionally funny or interesting moment but it's about then that I started to realize how this really wasn't that good a series. (then again I was spoiled to the Aizen stuff prior so I sort of knew he would be back…)
And prior to that...the manga never even interested me at first glance. I didn't really find anything interesting until the anime...and even then the dub.

Never mind.
