Oh man, I can't wait to see what every non-Strawhat is doing 2 yrs from now. Especially Buggy…Oda loves Buggy so much, I'm sure he'll have a good role in part 2.

And I don't care that in other series time-skips generally degraded the show. This is Oda we are talking about.

Wonder if Vivi will decide to take Luffy up on his offer?
-
Hm, that question seems better for the Last Nakamate thread or the TimeSkip Prediction than here but I will answer.
Maybe in the epilogue, I don't really see it happening just yet. There was a discussion about this (started by Greg) in the Last Nakamate thread saying if she's going to join the time skip would be the best chance.
However, she has no way of understanding Luffy's Message - she wasn't there to know what 3D means - so that gives me doubts. Though there was a panel of her puzzled over the tattoo ("is this for fashion?") so maybe that was there for a reason. I'd think it was simply a hint that the tattoo was the message and not the bells. Of course I didn't catch on to that at the time, but a hint is a hint.
On topic -
Just curious - has Oda taken a break this long before? Either way, it was (since he already took it with the way Jump is scheduled ahead) well deserved. I am glad he didn't add anymore cliffhangers; those he left with Buggy and Kuma already have me pondering. -

As previously stated the timeskip had very little to do with Naruto turning into a heaping pile of garbage
What's hilarious though is that the number one reason Naruto became complete shit has already been dealt with by Oda: namely the shift of focus from the classical shonen narrative of a young boy rising through the ranks and reaching the top of the world with a likable side cast of goofballs developping alongside him, to the revenge tragedy of some cardboard cutout awful rival figure hogging all the spotlight
Chances of something like that happening in OP were minimal at best, and became non existent with Ace's death
The humor comes from the fact the very people whining about a timeskip now were likely the same clamoring for Ace to survive and develop into some super kakoii pirate king contestant and Blackbeard's sworn enemy while Luffy… does shit somewhere who cares anyway it's not like he's supposed to be the main character or anything

While I do agree that Naruto became more meh when it started focusing on Sasuke, there's somethings here I don't agree with.
First, breaking off from the "traditional shonen formula" isn't a bad thing. After all, it's good to break new ground and not be a "follower". Naruto just did it wrong. But you make it seem like any attempt to break formula will end in failure and that's simply not true.
Second, I don't believe people who think the time-skip is bad are the same people who wished for Ace's survival… That doesn't even make any sense. I'm telling you, those people feel like that because, typically, some of the more famous shonen series have declined in quality after their respective time-skips, so they're worried One Piece will suffer the same fate.

I said the bad thing was the shift of focus from the classical shonen formula to something worse, not that trying to "break new ground" was fundamentally bad
Not my fault you read stuff that isn't here

It makes plenty of sense from a purely statistical angle because the vast majority of the fandom believed Ace would survive and get that hamfisted development I mentioned
Those who seriously thought he'd die and that it'd be better for the story were a minority and mainly from a particular community I happen to belong to, don't pretend otherwise
And that FAMOUS SHONEN DECLINING AFTER TIEMSKIPZ stuff is bullshit, it's not a pattern nor a rule, just some irrational whining trying to disguise itself as a valid opinion

I read exactly what was there, thank you very much. And even if I didn't, you only just explained yourself now. So lose the attitude.
Second, that's still a ludicrous claim you're saying about the whole Ace thing, when the two things don't even relate to one another. I'll bet if you ask ANY person here or in another forum about Ace's death… their answer will typically be (Finally, Oda killed a non-flashback person). And among those very same people you can also have people who are wary of the time-skip. They don't relate, so I don't see why you're saying "OH, PEOPLE WHO HATEZ TIMESKIPZ ALSO WANTED ACE TO LIVE AND CREATE SOME HOT-TYPE RIVALRY STORYLINE TOWARDS.."
Just... what? How far into that hat are you reaching exactly? And if anything the revenge type storyline would happen NOW more than ever with Ace being dead. Of course, I doubt Oda will go down that route since that's not his style.
As for the timeskip "rule"... That I agree with. But that's not the point I'm trying to say... I'm saying people will complain BECAUSE of those coincidences and so THAT'S why their worried.

I remember the chapter threads when ace died, there were tons of upset people. And last year when this was being argued(if memory serves by only a handful of people here - zephos, vanessa, aldrich, sanigo and myself), there were also only a few people who liked the idea but didn't think oda would go through with it.

I doubt anyone ever thought this would be something luffy would do. Ace was the only recipient of this idea, as far as I've seen.
-
The only people I've seen be mad (though ultimantly, they don't really care) about Ace death are my homeboys… But of course they're the same people who think One Piece is wack and rather have Zoro as the main character so... Yeah.
But that's how the mainstream public thinks. People from forums and such typically think differently.
-
Not really.
Just look at chapter/spoiler threads from the time.
-
People from the mainstream think Zoro should be the main character ?
-
I thought that was just neomaster.

Poorly drawn Hinata.

Roman
Isn't this normally the point you go "ughh…anime/manga fans" and stagger off having shot your load of condescending twaddle for the day.

Is this what the 4 week break is doing to posters? Bringing out the insane tendencies and animosity in them?
I don't recall seeing so much of this earlier in the summer.

Continue on with the discussion guys.

It got intimidated by Smore the big intimidating manly man and ran away
Seriously though, I've been trying to think of your old avatar but it keeps slipping away.

I don't think I've ever seen a more boring rage.

Acting nerdy on an internet forum is far superior to acting RL tough guy on an internet forum.
Take it from this nerd.Anyways, it's not even a week into this limbo guys, spare your best for the chaos later.

What's with the occasional "real life" badasses these last days. Chopperman1978 and now Smore.
HAY HAY I CAN LIFT 315 I CAN CRUSH YOUUUUU.
Seriously though, I've been trying to think of your old avatar but it keeps slipping away.
I remember akainu and dobberman. Glad to see Aldrich post from time to time. I guess it would be a pandemonium if he and zephos went all out at the same time.

Don't ridicule Chopperman. He's homicidal and if you weren't hiding behind your PC you'd already be dead.

All members here who got flamed out of a reason are definitely man among mens!
Just see how relaxed they go against someone who brings them down with a few replys.
Instantly using such words like "faggot, asshole, NERRRRD etc" to show clearly.."so far and not one step further, dude" because theyre so un-nerdy and manly that they don
t want to show how big their nuts in argueing about their wrong opinions are.
Definitely enough proof to show how mature they are.
Anyone who doesn`t believe it will get someday beaten up in real life..yeah some day the tough pale kid will kick your ass..just wait! -
This just in: Lambik killed by furry 30 year old.
Lambik died with Vandersteen, but if furry 30 can rid us of the abomination that is this new fake Lambik, I'd be more than happy.

Did I just witness a internet gangsta in action?

Lambik changed under Paul Geerts?
Now I feel dumb for just being a casual fan.
-
Well the whole comic changed, but I'm no expert cause I only read Vandersteen and the rest looks boring. The series should have stopped with his creator.
