I am quite surprised I didn't see anyone mentioning Cobra, City Hunter or Cat's Eye. They are really popular in France, even among the non-manga readers. Maybe that's different in other countries.

lol, I had a guy rail at me for several pages for thinking I claimed that (I didn't).
Not that that makes a difference, I've read plenty of good fiction and watched many a good movie aimed at pre-teens. I've also read many a good manga aimed at pre-teens (see above). Most of jump is still embarassingly mediocre.

I quite agree with that, but I was just looking for an explanation here. And it's not that easy to do something really good when your main target is pre-teen.

I love them, but we're talking about manga here and I'm a big fan of the anime version of those series. I still haven't read the manga of Cat's Eye (I'm looking forward to do so one day, though)
They're very popular in every country in Europe I think… I grew up watching those anime series, when I was 5-6 (Cat's Eye, Saint Seiya, Capt. Tsubasa, Hokuto no Ken, Ranma, and so on...), but I read their manga much time after that (there wasn't really the "manga-mania" at the beginning of the '90s, it came much later). So for those historical series I'd say that in Europe pretty much everyone fell in love with the animated series first... -

My favorite anything of all time is Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
I won't even bother trying to rank the rest, because besides finding LoGH to be nothing more than a godly, unstoppable behemoth of everything that will ever be good about animation, my various moods tend to determine whether I like something like Votoms more than Ashita no Joe. I've tried ranking a Top 10 once and it was just too messy to try to put together.
