3. And than they ll probably tell him about it/ teach him
After-all it would be kind of strange if he would be the only one not progressing in terms of strength out of all the SHs. Especially since it is the strength of a person which "guarantees" you to keep your dreams and the ones you love in One Piece

Frankly, I did not give a shit for the whole flashback or its purpose of introducing Ace as he was when he first Luffy and adding in a new character that is held by Luffy as a second brother.

I'm suprised at this because the flashback holds large value in OP as a whole. The bond between brothers… it shows how much Luffy and Ace had gone through together and how much of a loss to Luffy this is. Sabo links to the Void Century, as he represents freedom which obviously has been limited since the gov't took over. Sabo will most probably fight the gov't in the future. Someone not giving a shit about how the main character grew up is suprising to me.
A lot of people who are saying that Luffy should get stronger at Amazon Lily before he goes to Saboady are missing the point that he is getting stronger. Shanks is the hint, as he said that suffering a loss like Luffy has done and overcoming it will make Luffy a real man (and Oda does this when Luffy is turning 18). Luffy may be able to control haki a little better in his next battle with his clearer way of thinking, which is: "I'm not as strong as I think, this Pirate King shit aint gonna come that easy".
What I meant was that Luffy has been acting like he has nothing left after Ace's death. Getting back to his crew is more important than having long flashbacks about Ace.

Cool, another person who made an assumption without reading my other posts. My reason was, as I stated, the translation I read on OneManga. I was later informed though, that according to Aohige's proper translation, Jinbei is actually apologetic.

The cover stories based on where are the crew now is something he could very well have given them some key information - like the reference of how much time it would take Nami to get to the SA you know something that could be done in a 5 min phone call.Anyways - enough de-railing from me continue to argue my opinion or disagree with it if you must it's your time to spend.

Maybe when OP is over, someone will do an uncut condensed edition like they are doing with DBZ Kai. I might be in my mid to late thirties when this happens, but I'd still buy it for the memories. ^_^

For all those wondering whether Luffy will train or not.. Think about it this way: is there ANY better training than fighting admirals, causing havoc in Impel Down, fighting 24/7 until the last minute? He certainly got MUCH more powerful after this.
Of course, we all would love a new gear or Luffy mastering haki.. But well, we'll see. I think haki will come naturally after all this.

Speaking of hats, I was just rereading a copy of chap 1 in Vol 1–Viz's translation--and when Shanks gave Luffy his hat, he tell him it means a lot to him. When I read it the first time I assumed it was just what a guy like him says to a kid like Luffy to make it seem more important and special, but given the importance of hats in OP and Oda's tendancy to understate things when he foreshadows, I wonder if there's more of a story on Shanks' side to it than that... Something to look forward to when that inevitable fateful meeting takes place, maybe.

such a great emotional payoff. i was getting a little turned off with the exploits of monkey d. angsty, but i am super-pumped for luffy to get it back together and reunite with the crew now!
it was pretty brilliant for luffy's character and the story that the crew were taken out of play for this long. right now, the only way to take the brooding and depressing elements of the story down a notch and get back to the more upbeat aspect of one piece easily without ignoring the events that just took place.. would be a straw hat reunion.
