Nothing important, but in Rightstuf's ad in Otaku USA, Season 2 Seventh Voyage is one of the only 4 DVDs advertised :P
It even has a little pirate on the side
Why do I feel that Season 2 Seventh Voyage was one of the most popular sets?
Probably because people made it a point to buy it so the sales numbers wouldn't be lacking because of people like me, who didn't buy it
@Badass:
I'm sure you do, but you didn't make it seem as if you did in your previous post.
Yeah, I know(lol again). But the fact that it hasn't repeated itself since like, 10 years ago, pretty much proves that sales are much better putting covers related to the content of the manga volume instead of some nice colored art. Seriously, a friend of mine though that Naruto was a manga series of a teenage boy who painted the world with colors, because that's what the cover art looked like xD

Shame on you. :getlost:
Funi gets a lot of my money already (and boy let me tell you I'm felling it right now… lol). But if it makes up for it these are episodes I wouldn't download either, so I'm choosing as a consumer not to obtain them legally or illegally :P
So long as you don't mind not owning the complete series, there is nothing one can do or say.
The last time I talked to him he said he was working on projects he wasn't allowed to tell me about, and that now he may've even been recasted in Sgt. Frog (which is gonna piss him off if they do because he's already invested a lot into it). He said the last time he peaked into the one piece room they weren't doing anything, that is no one was there :P
I hope his recasting isn't because of anything he "leaked" online either here or on other forums (it's nice to hear they're dubbing more Sgt. Frog though).
I think people need to stop worrying about the One Piece dub's current break because it's not like there has been a disruption in their release schedule. We'll hear news when its time to hear news.
O-chan

Well, it could be worse. You could be one of those people ripping the simulcast and making them into illegal fansubs or something, lol.
It's your decision, but I'd personally feel weird having a missing hunk from my collection.

I don't know if that would make Naruto better or worse.
Shame on him for missing out on an essential part of oda's series, right.

Uh, obviously you missed the point. Shall we spell it out for you?
you think people should buy a godawful steaming turd just to support funi.

If they want to see the series continue being dubbed, then yes.
Part of a relationship means being there for the bad times as well as the good. So says the doctor of luuuuv. BJ
If people don't want to buy it, then we have no business telling them to do so. Honestly I liked the filler set, the episodes were not nearly as painful as I remembered them being but that may have more to do with it being a dub rather then a sub.

Nobody's telling anyone to do anything. We're just stating our opinions on the matter, as are they.
Cool, my opinion is that anyone saying "shame on you" to someone who doesn't want to buy s2v7 is talking crap.

Honestly, I bought S2V7 out of my love for the series as a whole (that and I got Briana Palencia to autograph my copy:devil: ). But I totally understand if people didn't get it. I mean to this day I don't own past the Christian arc in Kenshin and Vol. 11-18 of the original Naruto series.
O-chan
I didn't mind the filler arc (S2V7) that much shrugs It's not that bad. But I could have lived perfectly fine without it. I never even watched the anime past Skypia (and a few episodes of W7), but I hate the later filler arcs a lot and what they did to the Davy Back Fight. My sis watched those episodes and told me about it, so I know. I would have definitely skipped those filler arcs on DVD >> Still, I would love to collect all the boxes … but they'd ruin me ;___; Which is why I'm giving up and selling the complete Seasons 1 and 2 (as seen in my sig). Was a hard decision, though. =|
I would NEVER sell my DVD's, NEVER __ Not after it took a miracle for FUNimation to salvage what was left of One Piece out of the gutter thanks to 4Kids, I'll continue to support them forever and ever, buying every crappy filler boxset if that means supporting them to let them know no matter what I'm going to buy their Boxsets. Plus it's SOO VERY AWESOME to have all of it on DVD and can watch it whenever I want to if I so desire.
I bought the goat sex filler arc boxset, still haven't watched it yet, probably will soon since my sis will be sewing up a storm again xD Gotta have that background noise after all.
ALSO, I'm soo thankful to have One Piece in it's unedited glory, God this and God that, and all the cursing. Aw, I love you FUNimation, I LOVE YOU SOO MUCH <3
Cool, my opinion is that anyone saying "shame on you" to someone who doesn't want to buy s2v7 is talking crap.
Well then we agree to disagree.
Look, I agree with what you guys are saying, you should buy the boxsets even if they are fillers sets, I'd still enjoy them but if you're in a situation when money doesn't necessarily fall at your feet then download them and watch them cause in a way you're still supporting the company buy watching the show even if it is illegal but the better thing to do is to find a torrent that's what i did for S2V7 cause I didn't want to spend money on a filler set so i waited for someone who ripped the episodes from their dvd and posted it as a torrent that's the best route to go in my opinion
Hey guys, I don't know if you're sick of this question or not, but how does the eight movie stack up with the rest of the dub? I thought the movie was pretty bad, and a lot of the dialogue cheesy. Is the dub better?
Thanks
The 8th movie was dubbed towards the beginning of Funi's OP work. It may not be the best, but it's certainly not bad. Cheesy dialogue? Well, it may have been present in the Japanese Version, too, as Funi often translates things accurately.
But, yes, the dubbing has greatly improved since the dubbing of the eighth movie.

If you have seen Funi's work of Skypedia you know how this will sound. But I wouldn't really be basing it to high though, the movie itself is crap. And just the way, Toei made it is terrible so it will make any dub of it terrible.

Actually if you really want to know how the dub evolved you have to keep this in mind:
One Piece Season 3 CN Airing (September 2007) > One Piece: Unlimited Adventure (Nintendo Wii:January 2008)> One Piece Alabasta Movie 8 (February 2008)> One Piece TV Series DVD (May 2008)
Everybody smoothed out their rough spots during the CN episodes (by the time Australia started airing the uncut versions the dub sounded more on par with the DVD version) and during the dubbing of the Wii game.
By the time the movie came around the dub was pretty close to how it would sound for the rest of its run.
O-chan

I wouldn't say the Wii game had a good dub at all. Don't even remind me about Franky's terrible voice.(I really hope is recasted for the show, or else I may end up watching the dvd in subs)

Uh, no.
I don't have any problem with people missing out on any, or all of the boxsets, but you don't just steal them instead. However terrible the source material is, funi put effort into localising it and you sure as hell shouldn't be downloading it.
download them and watch them cause in a way you're still supporting the company buy watching the show even if it is illegal
Someone please tell me how this is supporting the company.

I see. So the best route to take, instead of not buying it because its "lolzshittyfiller", would be to support and further the illegal distribution of it. Logic at its finest.
So you prefer a DVD cover art that says absolutely nothing of the actual events taking place on it with recycled images photoshopped together than an actual cover art that tells you what's happening on the actual DVD?
First off, you're completely ass backwards on the whole concept of how a cover relates the events of a story into a single image.
Look at this.
Freaking epic Hell, it's so great that I want to find a super high-res version of it to make a poster. It's the kind of cover art that could easily pass for a movie poster.
In fact…
Those two are examples of how you do cover art. Everything you need to know about the Arabasta arc, boiled down to the most basic core, is shown in that art.
By comparison, these new two pieces of !@#$ look like something out of a friggin coloring book. Luffy on the boat isn't too bad, but the latest one is just godawful. There's no sense of style or to it at all. It doesn't tell you anything important about the story. There's nothing important about the Trial of Balls. They just ripped off a scene from an episode and stuck it on the box.
Moreover, there was no need to start putting scenery in the background or having clip art breaking outside the frames. There's no reason to for the cover to play out a scene from the show. That's what the DVD is for!
Pull out any DVD on your shelf and odds are good you won't be able to find one that does this. Why? Because it looks like amateur hour crap.
Onepieceanimefan23 is clearly a true fan. Stealing Funi's stuff just because it's filler in order to support Funi. … ... ... wait a second...
And Charagon... I need to use my gift from Badass Snocone to respond to your crap:
that's the best route to go in my opinion
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. NO. A thousand times no.
I don't care if you try to justify it just "because its filler" or "it sucks". It's still illegal. It's still a sale Funi could have made. It's still fifty dollars that could go into the wallet of one of the hard-working, dedicated, loyal folks over at Funimation who make One Piece in America possible. It's also money in Oda's pocket, eventually. The share of that fifty he receives could buy him a new set of pens or something to keep One Piece at its finest.
How exactly does downloading an illegal torrent support the author? By making him use the same, dried-out ink pens? Or maybe now he has to settle with less paper? Or no more porn magazines to appease him late at night? The point is, you might not think about it, but every sale counts. And downloading is not a justifiable means of support. i know I'm ranting, but I'm extremely passionate about this stuff. Ask the folks over at NarutoForums. >_>
@Mikey:
Someone please tell me how this is supporting the company.
THIS.
I was going to respond earlier, but my brain couldn't handle writing a response that would not sound insulting.
No offense, Onepieceanimefan23, but that post makes no sense at all…
Or no more porn magazines to appease him late at night?
This is the most important reason. If Oda doesn't get his Pr0n, he won't be able to make Robin and Nami even sexier every time they appear.
Think of how awfully misshaped their boobs would be without Oda's "research"!

I understand what you mean Charagon, but your OPINION that it looks like "amateur hour crap" is a bit off. Also, you didn't really say exactly why should it have been the character cover instead of the official cover there is on S3V2. Yeah, you showed some nice covers from past DVDs, but you didn't compare it at all with the ones at hand. You must also remember that the covers aren't for us already fans, but for those who haven't seen the show at all.
You might find something movie-epic on those past covers, but people who see those covers just see character images pasted on a box set, it hardly catches their eye because they haven't seen the show. Now we take this new cover art in S3V1 and S3V2, and we see covers that are more colorful and shinier. These things catch people's eyes far more than a cover with just character illustrations, and I hardly doubt it looks like amateur hour crap.
The idea is that this cover art that S3V2 officialy has will make it sell more than the other one, because let's be honest, fans will still buy the DVD regardless of the cover art.

English Franky's more ripped than you. Don't make fun of him! EXCUSE ME!

And Onepieceanimefan23, that line of logic fails. It's like saying you need to steal from a Haiti charity fund to support Haiti.

As far as I know they're keeping him.
But the game was overall a rush dub so I wouldn't be surprised if they directed him voice to sound different for the Water Seven arc.

Well, of the three S3 ones, the character cover was still bad, but at least it wasn't AS bad as offensively bad as the Balls one. (I had trouble linking the S3 covers, hence why they do not appear in the post)
You must also remember that the covers aren't for us already fans, but for those who haven't seen the show at all.
That's a pretty thin rational. If that were the point of it, you'd see it happening more. But the vast majority of all DVDs don't follow that philosophy.
Now we take this new cover art in S3V1 and S3V2, and we see covers that are more colorful and shinier.
Like a coloring book.
These things catch people's eyes far more than a cover with just character illustrations, and I hardly doubt it looks like amateur hour crap.
I'm glad you agree.

I'm still not buying it (not the DVD, the idea). The only people that cover is going to stick out to is children and typically parents don't drop that much money on a show their kids aren't fans of. And really, there can't be a significant number of people buying One Piece that aren't already fans of it, and they certainly aren't going to start at Season 3 if they do.
Charagon. Just stop.
These covers show that more effort was put in than "random character pose cut and paste job". This shows that you would rather have generic poses over covers that tell a story. You linked the movie 8 cover, which is a cover that tells a story, much like the S3 covers. So that didn't help your case at all.
If they want to see the series continue being dubbed, then yes.
I disagree with this logic. It would be downright idiotic business if they stopped dubbing One Piece due to bad sales for a filler set.
You guys are way too dedicated… and have way too much money to throw away.
The impression I got was that most of the people involved didn't know or really care that it was filler.
You guys are way too dedicated… and have way too much money to throw away.
I can do what ever the fuck I want with money I work sweat and tears to get. If I wanna spend it on One Piece dvd's, then by darn't I will!

As a fan, I don't want to take any chances. I know not everyone thinks this way, so it's just an opinion.

What do you care what we do with our money? As Luffy#1 said, we work our asses off in crappy jobs to earn money, so if we wanna use them for One Piece, then… well, so it shall be.
I know not everyone has the money for it, so I'll try to remember that before opening my mouth...

Vulgarly said !
If I had the money, I'd buy everything One Piece that I possibly could. But with the exception of conventions I can usually only afford to stay consistent with the DVD and manga releases. And since ACen was in may, the money it would've taken to buy 7th Voyage was MUCH better spent there. Which included buying these:
!
If my financial situation gets better I might go back and buy that set for collection purposes, but I doubt I'll do that. They really are episodes I don't want to own for free or on DVD.
And on that note… do the sales of that set even matter anymore? Wouldn't funi base their sales rates off the current DVD sets? Obviously if the older releases sell well they'll say "One Piece sold __ copies this month", but isn't it more likely they'd say "Season 3 part 1 has already sold 200,000 copies in it's first two weeks!" Just thinking out loud here, but the important time to show support was back in may, and that ship has already sailed (pun intended).
