Well the whole short on medical supplies never came to mind. I didn't really have any reason to think that was the case. I mean when they left it wasn't like they were dying they were saved just in time before any major injuries occurred.
Such a great chapter, and a fitting end for the flashback, it shows luffy at his highest point and then jolts us back to reality with his lowest. I cant wait for next weeks.

This is actually a very awesome chapter. Seeing Luffy and Ace grow up was a really nice touch on Oda's part. And Luffy's realization that he's too weak as is to achieve his dream is a good stepping stone to see some brand new badassery in the future. I expect in the next few chapters Luffy will break out of this stupor and start training to get stronger for a little while (maybe a week or two), then he'll be headed back to Sabaody to meet up with everybody. That would make it about a month since the Straw Hats were separated, I think everybody'd be back by then. (or maybe I'm just being too optimistic)
Edit: Oo! And I just checked Chapter 1 to see if Oda changed the people standing around Makino and Woop Slap and nope, the two we see the faces of were in Chapter 1 and in the same positions. Very nice consistency, Oda! ;D

Anyway, Oda succeded what he was trying to do for months : the 2nd biggest bounty of the 1st part of grand line with an incredible willpower, haki and a crew nearly complete (9/10) became a weak broken man alone in a world he know nothing about.
After 13 years it's truly a GREAT thing to accomplish such a reboot !!! He even gave the main protagonist a brother out of nowhere and it went so smoothly

The fact remains that there are other injured people on board. Oda could have been saying "Look, Dragon Saved Sabo!" or he could have been saying "I didn't forget that there are several injured people on Dragon's Ship".
I now think Sabo is probably alive too, I just don't think it's a certainty.

I just skimmed through the entire flashback, and this one wouldn't be my number 1 favorite. I feel it dragged in some pages, like in Luffy's montage in following Ace in the beginning and when there was that flashback with Bluejam and his conversation with the nobles.
Plus, as much as this flashback answered (who is Dadan, who is Sabo, why Ace never runs), I feel like there's so much more questions that need to be addressed(fate of Bluejam, how much Ace knew about his haki, who is the King, why aren't the revolutionaries strong enough now and what allowed them to rise to power, is there a deeper relationship between the dojo and the revolutionaries)
In fact, all those questions about Sabo that were asked before the flashback were answered, but the end of the flashback reopened all those questions(what does he look like, is he alive, what is he doing now, is he a revolutionary, is he a pirate) etc.
Positives:It was nice to see Luffy and Ace act like brothers. And thankfully nothing in this flashback contradicted the story. Sabo and Dadan are great characters and it was nice to see them in the story. It was nice to see pirates act like pirates and see nobles act like d-bags. The Dragon cameos are a mixed bag for me but when the revolutionaries are fleshed out I'm guessing I"ll appreciate it more like how Akainu was seen in Ohara.
It would be nice to see the mountain bandits, the nobles, and the King in the current storyline. Especially Stelly and Dadan.

You saying this just made me realize, when the team is back together, and all is said and done, I really want Luffy to run into Arlong or some other villain from the beginning who gave him a lot of trouble, and for them to fight, which results in Luffy 1 hit KOing them without even blinking. It would show how much stronger he is, especially if it's Arlong.
I think Kreig would be the most likely though since Gin promised that they'd meet again in the grand line.

I care about all three of their fates. I am not a fan of ambiguity in stories. It doesn't need to be even more than a panel or two, just whether Bluejam is dead/alive and if alive what he's up to now.

I'm not sure why you don't think the revolutionaries aren't strong enough now to do _______ but the WG already regards them and Dragon as their #1 threats since Dragon's the most wanted criminal. Their rise to power most likely consisted of killing marines and WG agents and literally toppling allied WG kingdoms and revolutionizing them.
I'm talking about Dragon's line in the flashback about not being strong enough to do anything. He has Ivankov and Kuma on his ship already. I'm wondering what Dragon wanted/needed to start the revolution and why he wasn't strong enough in the flashback to do anything for his hometown.
