@Joe:
They are so slow with the bleach volume releases. I'd actually like to read something past early heuco mundo in the states.
Why would you ever want to do that?

Shit, you beat me to it.
How many chapters you think will be in there? Anything less than 4 and ill wait for the volumes…
Did anyone else see this?

Out of the top ten shonen properties, One Piece ranks third.

holy shonen trinity part deux.
Considering how many volumes came out, is it really impressive?
Vol. 55's name confirmed as "A Ray of Hope"
If they absolutely had to change that chapter title, it should've been to something much less generic and more fitting for that chapter.
I love how like 2 (or perhaps just 1??) year ago, my Local FP had like no One Piece books at all. Now they've got the latest ones fresh off Print from 'Merca !
Slightyly dissappointed they've taken down their copies of Kinnikuman Nisei. They had stacks and stacks and I never wanted them until it was too late :(
Reminds me, wish they'de get some Fairy Tail in !

I agree, of course you're gonna that rank when you have much more product than usual
at the barnes and nobels I go to their's more one piece volumes than any other series now, which is awesome seeing as how before that bleach and naruto had tons more than it…. but now it's the other way around

The one I work at has three whole rows to itself and has a special stand for the current ones, while naruto has a row and a quarter.
One Piece Vol. 55 has been added for pre-order over at Rightstuf. Just a heads up
I have volume 55 in japanese… hard to believe it's about to come out in english already.
I think I'll just buy the new volumes in stores from now now. Now that the speedup's over and the releases will spread out a little more (with only one at a time), I'm fine with waiting for them to hit the shelves.
I bought the new volumes last week, and this is the first time i can read them as I buy them (since i've been rereading the series). I can't wait to get to volume 51~
ah. I remember last year, being 11 years behind Japans publication of the series.
And now here I am holding Thriller Bark [due to lack of funds, can't own anything beyond that currently however]
Its a good feeling.
God bless A1 comics I now have the final four speed up volumes…
If that doesn't help kuma to get far in the character tournament I don't know what will....
I just noticed, with June set has most of Robin attacks use "mano" instead of "fleur".
Not only are they two different words but they're two different languages…
You guys do know that Robin has attacks that end in "Manos" instead of "Fleur", right? And she used those attacks to fight against Moria, The flying Fish Riders, PX-1, and Kuma. All of which are in the June volumes. You know that right?
Just making sure.
I did not. I haven't read those chapters in forever.
Oh, well, Robin's "Mano" attacks are where she combines twenty hands to make one giant hand. "Ochenta Fleur: Cuatro Manos" is where she sprouts eighty hands to make 4 giant ones, each made up of twenty hands. That's just one example.
Yeah, like Snowcone said. She pretty much used those attacks against bigger adversaries where a simple arm sprout wouldn't work; in this case, Moria and Pacifistas…
I think they might be different attacks from the "Fleur" ones, "Mano" is spanish for "Hand", just my 2 cents.
Yes. Muda and I just said how they're different attacks.
You know, I bought volumes 8-10. I tried to read them while adjusting my brain to the correct terms.
It just didn't work.
I still find translation choices unacceptable here. Chew me out all you want for "not being a One Piece fan" and all that crap, but I don't like how this is handled.
The later volumes are of higher translation quality than the early ones.

Give me a ballpark estimate on when they get better.
Me? Personally? When they enter the Grand Line. I think that was when JN Productions began handling the translation. The only real translation oddities are three Alabasta Devil Fruits getting their 4Kids names (thankfully they are only mentioned like once each in the story), and the whole Kami/God switch. After Skypiea, there's really very little to complain about other than a few attack name inconsistencies thanks to so many different teams working on the volumes. And ''Haki'' I guess if you are one of those that prefer it translated.
I got volumes 51-53 for my birthday. About half-way through with 52 right now, and the only thing that's bothered me so far was that they called it Roguetown instead of Loguetown. But I'll get over it. xD

How did it "not work"?
Like, seriously, how much can something like this bother someone? :getlost:
Yeah, I figured all of that out after the fact.

The only translation error that really bothers me is Zoro's name change. I utterly despise it. I even have thought of sticking labels of the real name over all of them. But being all the way up in the 50's now my brain reads it as Zoro now anyway.
And my personal philosophy is that as long as they don't change the art it is much better to support the domestic English release. Since buying the Japanese volumes is actually more expensive then purchasing the English ones, and since I can't read Japanese, the pros of having English releases are much greater then the pros of having the Japanese ones. And so far the only art changes I know of are text related, such as changing the names on wanted posters.
I must say, Viz did a REALLY good job translating Bink's Sake. I just read their translation while listening to the song in japanese, and it even matches up with with the tune. I give them serious props on this one

Yeah but the lines do seem to overlap a bit though.
Could have been written out a bit better in that respect

"Overlap"? What do you mean?
Doesn't overlap for me, I can sing this song in tune exactly with the japanese song. There is only one tricky part a bit after the middle of the song.
I was just looking at the Rumbar Pirates memorial and at the very bottom you can read Sengoku among other things. Looks like some Japanese words and/or names as well but I honestly don't know. Oh and "kid ya" singled out by the flowers.
Just thought it was interesting, but this is unable to be seen in the scanlations on Mangashare or Onemanga.
People who order 54 from Rightstuf could have their volumes ship out today. Mine has gone to "Reserved for your order" so I assume others have as well
Just got the New issue of SJ issue
How did Akainu become Sakazuki? WHAT THE?( ok its Akainu in the chapter title but the other name in the profiles XD)
For Oars III is Little Oars Jr. correct translation?
ch 553-556 so the issue ends at the point when
! the rescue crew lands into Marineford
the new Bleach color profile book looks cool. hope is Manga sized instead of those big CW size ones
and Shaman king Showcase next month!
Sakazuki is Akainu's real name
Yep.
Kizaru -> Borsalino
Aokiji -> Kuzan
Akainu -> Sakazuki
@Skull:
Sakazuki is Akainu's real name
thanks.
i read the translations for now so reading from JP>Trans> English kinds gets confusing

So an Italian lounge singer, a Chinese detective, and Japanese cop walk into Marineford…
A lounge singer? The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Borsalino is
the hat company.
I'm pretty sure Oars III is suppose to be Oars junior when its translated. So I guess the "little" part was just thrown in there.

He looks like Dean Martin to me, so I refer to him as such.
How is "Kuzan" chinese.
Where do you people get Oars III from?
Didn't they actually call him Oars III when he was first introduced, and then switched between Oars Jr. and just Oars afterwards.
