Okay this is pretty much the stupidest thing I've read all day. Surely the likes of Takehiko Inoue, Yukito Kishiro, and Kentaro Miura are awful, mediocre storytellers next to Oda right?

Oda will time-skip pretty soon from now, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Imagine Berserk "so Guts is sulking on a tree minding his own business and BAAAM THREE YEARS LATER he's in a castle full of soldiers and corpses".

Oh wait that happened. And in one of the greatest works the comic medium has ever seen, too.

Oda's been setting up a time skip for a good while now, it's pretty much confirmed. The only thing left to figure out is how long will it be.

beserker imo is crap, lack lustered, and over hyped. he already gave us the two week skip. he is giving back ground on sabo so he doesnt have to later wheb luffy runs into him when the rebellion brings robin. and all the shs have had plebty of time to train and travel while luffy did the war arc and what ever time he uses to train/recover.

time skip not needed. we dnt need a kishi moment.

if we take the travel from hq to amazon and the two week skip we got plus w.e. time may or not pass durning flash back plus time spebt training and the final trip back to sa will equate to more than a months time. which seems plenty in one piece world for them to all meet up if you take an express voyage. because remember every has a head start on their training than luffy by the time equaled to his original arrival on AL by kuma to our present time which in itself equals a few weeks.

no time skip is required. they are a crew who learns fundimentals quickly and applies details in battle. and as stated above, theyve all had ample time to learn what they needed. 2-4 months time by the time they meet

I'm generally against a timeskip because I'd like to see this dawn of the second pirate age through the experiences of the individual crew members as they travel back to Shabondy/Fishman Island. This period right now is too exciting to be skipped over and somewhat settled down when the Strawhats set sail.

However, I trust the author enough to think he'll do a good job with the transition if there was one.

The only issue with a time-skip is how powerful the SH's will be once they get back together. The longer they are apart, the more difficult it will be to gauge their new strength, until they fight. I'm stating the obvious of course, but I don't want their strength to increase too much. For instance, when they all re-unite, and each one of them has the ability to take on a Pacifista on their own… well that may be too much of jump power-wise. But I guess I'm thinking this way, because I believe the time-skip won't over-reach 6 months. I trust Oda though. I don't think he'd mess a time-skip up. I know Oda has made it pain-fully aware to his readers that the SH's were not ready to continue their voyage the way they were. To continue, they would have to battle in a totally different manner. By this I mean fighting with Haki, which we still don't know much about. I'd like just an introduction about Haki to begin with, perhaps before a time-skip. I'd like to see Luffy beginning to use it, rather than there just being a time-skip, and he's owning everyone that he couldn't before with Haki. For instance, once the flashback is over, I'd like to see his first attempts to learn Haki. I'd like to know how much of a difference it makes when using it with a very low knowledge of it. I'd like to know even after the time-skip how long he trained understanding/using Haki. The same goes for Zoro, Sanji, and the rest of the group. Although I doubt everyone in the crew would learn it.

I don't mind a time-skip, as long as they are not too powerful when they reunite, which is why I approve of a shorter time-skip. I think 6 - 9 months at the most sounds about right.

Bakuman is a slice of life story you moron, it's a completely different animal then One Piece or Berserk, let alone Vagabond or Akira. We haven't had ANY everyday in One Piece aside from a few panels on the Merry/Sunny between arcs. There IS NO everyday for OP, it's plot doesn't have anything to do with it, Bakuman is about being in the manga industry, of course it deals in the everyday. Why the fuck would OP or Berserk do that?

havent' read lotr in some years but if i recall correctly wasn't gandalf gone researching about the ring for like a few years after the inital showing frodo did to him?

I hardly think there'll be a timeskip. I have a feeling that, after the flashback is completely over, we'll stick with Luffy a little while longer and eventually everyone will make it back to Saobody Archipelago, recieving a significant power-up and, for Luffy, a HUGE bounty increase.

EDIT: Meaning, if there were to be any form of timeskip, it'd merely be in weeks, not so much months or years.

How you feel may be due to Oda's ability to really put his characters in danger, and make the odds stacked against the crew. Oda is really good at this, even back in the Baratie arc. While I share your frustration, I wish one of the crew members got a logia power, it's more exciting this way story-wise. The characters are forced to use all of their resources, especially characters like Usopp and Nami.

I would not want a time skip but after all that has happened it is going to happen. I just hope its not for too long maybe a couple of months instead of a year and that the SH's personalty does not change.

i didnt like it much as everyone was kids and they couldnt diestroy the earth with one attack and they kept spending time with characters who wernt goku and goku didnt win every fight.

i dont like timeskips as goku became a kid after the timeskip between DBZ and Gt.

Also i dont understand how the dragonball manga can be 42 volumes, the cartoon wasnt nearly that long, was things cut off????

Yeah thats why i edit my post saying it easier to give Nami and Ussop the ability to beat PX than Lucci .

For Chopper– it was also stated that he wouldn't mind being taken by the MAMA BIRD since he doesn't have time, and this is the other option that you forgot to inspect...
For Nami-- we don't even know where and how far away she is from SA, she could be a mere week away and that's not that long according to the already known information...

So, all your hype is pointless since you haven't even convinced a soul using ANIME correctly as a resource-- try again when you are aware that there's nothing to instigate proof for a time-skip at all. :ninja:

while i'm going to get shot for mentioning anime i do have to wonder why the anime chose to in the two times it is mentioned at all about possible return dates to make them BOTH seem like a VERY LONG TIME.

It just seems dumb to be emphasizing in your "filler" how this may take years to return when you have no idea how long it may take. (a few days, a week, month, years). Why did they feel the need to in both situations to emphasize the years? unless they were given some info from oda that it will be years.

if i was in charge of anime and had no direction at all from oda, i would at all costs avoid bringing up any sort of answer to the "how long till they get back" I woudl have done like Franky, and Sanji and have worked around having the question be brought up or adressed. But they did, and in both situations it was constant, and that constant was a long time.

so it really begs the question of did Oda give them a tid bit saying it will be a long time, or why woudl the anime take a gamble like that?
