You know, I think the thing about this week's episode is that it was one big joke, and Brian sleeping with Quagmire's dad was the punchline.

You really have to have a taste for crudeness to like FG at this point, maybe it's acquired poor taste? Robby, he was a transgender if that makes it any better.
Hey blue is my favorite comedy color, but telling a guy the chick he just slept with is a guy and then watching him puke for 3 minutes isnt even a joke. It's just terrible, like a Bob Saget joke.

The puking scene was just so stupid and drawn out that it had to be intentionally stupid or maybe due to lack of content they stretched it out to make the 22 min time frame? I will say that the conversation before he vomited was mildly funny as was the "Hey, I fucked your dad" line, atleast it's still funnier than the Simpletons.
naw, i think the 3 min was intentional. they like to do prolonged stuff like that and think it's funny. i don't think it was really 3 min though, was it?
However long is was in minutes it felt like an eternity.
While the puke going for 3 minutes WAS bleh…
Stewies face DURING said 3 mins had me rollin'.
But yeah... I could've lived without the 3 minutes of puke stream.
I'd time it but I'm not THAT passionate.
lol. i wanna know now. i bet it was 1-1.5 min. that should be on my list of chores for tomorrow.
Sounds like too big a task for one (wo)man to handle alone, i'll go with you.
Prepare a tv, some chips and dip and a coach before 7PM:ninja:
O, Family Guy you used to be so funny. Now your episodes all suck. But I dont care Futurama comes back in June.
The puke scene was probally 35 seconds long, and repetivive tasks can feel longer than it should be. Still… I didn't really feel the episode too much.
I assume this is what you're all talking about.

It's apparently about a minute long. And stupid and gross.
So. Let me get this straight. THAT was the payoff… to Brian sleeping with Quagmire's dad. Who is now a woman. Were there also fake boob jokes and was Quagmire turned on by his dad's new look to go with the crap?
That long? I want my minute back.
There wasn't much jokes aside from Loius and Peter bursting out laughing when Brian showed them a picture of the "wonderful woman" he found. Quagmire did not want accept it at first either since he didn't want to accept the fact that he might have been gay before the sex change plot.
I thought the final pay off was after Quagmire beat the crap outta Brian, when Brian got the final word by saying i fucked your dad. And yes Quagmire did get a boner over his dad's new boobs.
This doesn't feel like Family Guy at all. It was really disappointing, but I liked the ending for whatever reason (fight scene + Brian's ending line). It's kind of weird, but now I consider Peter and Lois a lot more "normal" than the other characters. At least in this episode. They were a lot more "bitchy" in this episode, especially Lois.
@robbybedfart:
and was Quagmire turned on by his dad's new look to go with the crap?
Actually yes. o.O
I had a major problem with this episode, and I recently figured out what it was.
When they do these topical episodes where they target one thing like this (Like the Gay Marriage episode with Jasper) there's always at least one person on the side of the one they're making fun of. Like, on the Jasper episode, he had Brian on his side, in When you Wish upon a Weinstein, Lois was the voice of reason all the way through. Nobody here was, and it actually felt like the writers went out of their way to make characters go out of character in order to have everyone making fun of Ida. And at the end, Quagmire only comes around because Ida was his father, there wasn't much else to defend her. I mean, in the Down Syndrome episode they had her played by an actual Down syndrome girl. I guess when they have someone on the side of the type of person they're making an episode about, it makes it feel more like a "Laugh with you" than a "Laugh at you" and, this episode felt very "Laugh at you" and I guess I felt it made them look pettier for it.
I guess to be more specific, my problem was majorly with Lois. I know this is a comedy show, but I expect everyone to stay in their established Character. Lois is USUALLY more sensible than Peter, and she's usually more open to things. In the Gay Marriage episode, the writers wanted her to be against Gay Marriage, and they wisely realized that was against her character, so they went out of their way to have Brian notice that and have Lois qualify it to him. "I'm usually very open Brian, but the idea of two men getting married is just wrong to me", and that was enough. They didn't do that this time, she was just as much an asshole about it as Peter.
And to be fair, I feel the same way when I watch Futurama. Everyone should stay in character. Fry should be an idiot from the 20th century who loves Leela, Bender should like to drink smoke and steal, Leela should kick a lot of ass and be Lonely, Professor should be smart and say "Good news everyone" often.
And, just like here, I had this same problem with the 2nd Futurama movie
! They were CLEARLY keeping continuity with Bender's Big Score with the space anomaly, but suddenly Fry's dating this Colleen girl, when the last movie was the PERFECT setup for Fry to get together with Leela?! What the fuck?! They even had Leela poke fun at their bad writing later on when she said "Oh Please, you forgot about me fast enough when you met Colleen"
So yeah, my problem was Lois.
I HATED THAT FUCKING SECOND FUTURAMA MOVIE ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!
btw hi rin ^_______________^
Also, stop watchong family guy if you want to avoid brain damage, nausea and vomit.

Speaking of which, that reminds me of the episode where Stewie got that injury where his brain showed. Ever since then, what with the Brian eating Stewie's shit last episode, it feels like they've been being pushing the envelope of offensive for the sake of pushing the envelope rather than in aid of being funny, and that's another thing about this episode.
Trying to be more offensive and actually taking shots at groups of people only really works out right when you succeed at being FUNNY in the process. That's how South Park does it. If you don't do that, it just looks like you're being a mean spirited prick about it.
Was the second futurama movie the one about the gigant tentacle monster courting earth?
I thought that one was absolutley hilarious.

It was the one about the tentacle monster. And I thought it had its moments, but it was easily the weakest of the four movies, and it was completely stupid that Fry would go after any other girl after the payoff at the end of the first movie. (Bender's Big Score)
I hated It so much that I actually congratulated Fry's old Dub voice actor for not being in it.
Oh wow.
The puke scene was a WHOLE minute long?
Jesus H. Christ.
At least Stewie's reaction tried to salvage it.
But yeah, something about Fmaily Guy being AWEFULLY mean spirited as of lately…
I noticed the bitchiness of Lois and the overabundance of Meg jokes to be getting old... quick.
I wonder what exactly is bringing all this about behind the scenes?

Holy crap, this series is actually getting worse. How's that even possible..

i'm sorry i can't help but laugh at this. i mean that when it comes to women, Brian can't catch a break. i mean think about it:
he dates a bunch of dingbats (slept with one)
when he sees a girl he likes there's always a catch to it.
and just when you think Brian finally finds mrs. Right, fate screws him one and its back to square one all over again.
you can't just help but feel sorry for him.
Not really. Brian stopped being the likeable voice of reason years ago and turned into a self centered sexist douchebag. He's ard to sympathise with anymore.
Suicidal sexist vomiting adulterer that he is.
Pretty much all the characters are impossible to sympathize with now. Possibly with the exception of Meg and Chris, but those are the two that Seth doesn't give a shit about.

Bolded for "Pretty Much".
In fact… Quagmire seems more likeable nowadays.
True he's a STD pile of garbage.
But at least he makes NO apologies about it.
He's probably the only character that's stayed the SAME throughout the whole show.
As I've said again and again, you can't even sympathize with Meg because everyone just suddenly hates her for no reason. We had several episodes during the first two seasons where the family neglects her from time to time, but still shows they care about and love her. Nowadays, they hate her…why? She became the punching bag just for the sake of it.
Also, reusing jokes. I talked about this already as well. To get to the short end of this part: We've had an entire vomit scene involving the guys vomiting like crazy. It was done once and didn't need to be done again, even if the circumstances are different.

Well, that's exactly WHY we can sympathize with her, because her family randomly hates her. I mean, she may have some personality flaws, but she's not nearly as bad as the rest of the family.
Peter is becoming more and more assholish.
Lois is a cunt
Brian is a douchebag, as previously stated
And Stewie is a one-dimensional gay joke and a pretty big asshole.

And Chris…
Well, actually, Chris became a pretty nice kid that slips into being ass retarded here and there.
Well, in my opinion, Stewie's role in the show has been highly neglected after the "Stewie Kills Lois" and "Lois Kills Stewie" episodes. Now not only does he not hold a grudge and/or anger towards Lois, but he barely interacts with her (or anyone else, for that matter) other than Brian. It gets repetitive, you've probably noticed already. "Brian and Stewie," the everlasting duo. I found it fun to watch them become close friends throughout the "Road to…" episodes, but not now, when I have to see that same thing over and over again in every episode.
As for Peter and Lois' behaviour, it really pisses me off. I hope it's a momentary thing.
The sad thing is no matter how hard this show sucks it probably wont get canceled. Cause some people find it funny. Or worse still it rising from the dead again..
Show has two spinoffs and another one coming.
Its not going anywhere for while.
What's the next spinoff?
Another spinoff? What is it this time, the Quagmire Show?
I think the description was "Like Family Guy, but with a woman lead"
I would bet that was the pitch to Fox too, and they just green lit it right there.
I miss American Dad. That show's better.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh
I miss American Dad. That show's better.
I miss the Critic. That show's better.
And the Clerks animated series.

Robby, I just fell in love with you.
I didn't know it was so easy to win hearts. I should be more careful.
To think, I've been single all this time.
ha ha. critic was good. too bad it's dated with all it;s movie references. I always loved his boss. lol

But of course. Also, for shits and giggles, a rather humorous edit:

ha ha. critic was good. too bad it's dated with all it;s movie references. I always loved his boss. lol
The sad part is, the Critic's references were timely at the time, and so they'r ejust dated sue to sheer time passage. (but still hilarious)
Family Guy's references START dated… because Seth McFarlane can't get past the 80's, apparently.
They wouldn't be so bad if they actually made sense and weren't just stupidly written to either copy it entirely without any reason for doing so or just for the sake of "HUR HUR, I MAEK SILY JOEK!"
A good example of a joke using a dated reference for FG came from the earlier seasons, where Peter walks into a school library and sees The Breakfast Club…which in fact turns out to be cereal mascots discussing almost the same thing that was discussed in the movie. That's a decent joke for dated material.
Most of the others tend to be horrible.
Another good example of dated parody that worked well comes from Animaniacs:
AlXEC8kcbqc
Not only did they goof on an actual recorded session from Orson Welles, but it actually makes sense when The Brain IS a parody of him (also humorous how the VA later played Orson Welles on The Critic and had the same attitude for commercials).

I agree with this pretty much.
The show has taken a more liberal stance, and moreover Brian has always been shown to be very liberal. I don't expect him to be happy that he just had sex with a transsexual, but I was hoping that instead this episode wasn't going to make for the cheap "It's a trap!" style joke and instead go for maybe Brian coming home and defending Ida, because Brian is supposed to be open. I guess one could argue that it was funny the other way around with him meeting her at the bar and …yeah... but yeah, this episode just seemed to target transsexuals and nothing more.
I'm like "Why, Family Guy?" Their gay episodes always seemed to show more sympathy.
Off topic, but technically not because Cleveland was from Family Guy.
