It's as if order is forbidden by higher beings; chaos MUST reign.

Interesting fact: In a lot of Japanese envisioned medieval fantasy stories, if there was ever a great unifier sometime in antiquity, it's always a group of angels or Gods that appear to fudge up his stuff.
Well, he sure is the biggest uniter in Berserk since he united the world within his "normal" lifetime (God Hand knows, how long that was - pun, sorry) and he also united the real world with the spectral world (names are differnt, but i'm to lazy to recall/look) a few chaps ago with that Fail Slash…

Berserk 311 RAW is out @ raw-paradise.
-
stupid hot file…..I exceeded my free DL limit.
-
Chapter´s out at Evilgenius!
-
It's out at Spectrum Nexus too. goes reading
-
Muira draws backgrounds like no one's buisness. Those rock cliffs, that water… awesome stuff. Zoom out and its just incredibly impressive.
He can keep taking long as he needs when the pages look that damn good.
-
Yay, new chapter. I was getting tired of that sea travel, nice to be back on land. Does that pirate guy talk with a weird accent in Japanese or do they just translate it like that because he's a pirate?
Anyway, this chapter reminds me of Shadow Over Innsmouth by Lovecraft, everyone in the town is a fish person and the god is Cthulhu (or Dagon) .
-
Awesome artwork as usual, also great that they are on land, I was a bit seasick too. While reading this chapter, reminded me of Resident Evil 4. Can't wait, 13 days or so never felt so long.

Agreed fully. Nice to take in some of his other aspects and not just the creatures and characters.

I was happy and sad that they made a stop. I know this means a side adventure delaying them but I'm sure it will be an awesome adventure. I thought the pirates suddenly leaving was a little weird, Berserk usually resolves little battles like that, seems like they'll be back soon.
@Kairouseki-Yea, the village may turn out to be a Dagon themed village story, starting to look like it with the Cave of the Sea God and The fish offerings at the shrine.
-
Yes this chapter was fantastic indeed, and why do I have a feeling Isidro's gonna fuck things up even if he didn't intend to?
Also it seems that the village isn't exactly evil, seeing how one of them could see Elves. -

Also it seems that the village isn't exactly evil, seeing how one of them could see Elves. Not being able to see elves normally doesn't have anything to do with being evil or not, this far elves just couldn't be seen by non-believers in mythical beings, random people at holy places and belivers of god and such religious stuff suckers (who/which are very evil in a sense, but not sure if the author intends to mock religion - like i do).
Also by now it would seem probable for anyone to be able to see elves, because the worlds have been fused together and God Hands can spawn anywhere (personal opinion). And Isidro is meant to cause trouble… don't know if that girl will become another Guts follower, a helper or another evil, but she sure will play a role!

And Ishidoro is meant to cause trouble… don'T know if that girl will get another Gutts follower, a helper or another evil, but she sure will play a role!
Looks like it, also, umm no offense but you do know the official names stated by Miura for the characters right?
-
Nope, i started reading Berserk like 2 1/2 weeks ago so go ahead and post 'em all, i don't want to embarrass myself even more ;)

Off the top of my heads-
Guts
Isidro (It's an italian name)
Puck
CascaWikipedia's entry of character names is from official releases-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_BerserkThere was this page that featured how the characters names are written in Japanese.
Most of the names used in earlier scanlations were how they were pronounced -
Ishidoro came from my memory japanizing things… Isidro sounds like a name from Lord of the Rings, so i should be alright to memorize that now.
-
great chapter as always, the artwork was superb. Well isidro is at it again making trouble, he had me laughing alot this chapter and I usually don't laugh at a berserk chapter. I'm sure the reason why that girl could see puck was infact due to that wind that brought both worlds together. Now the biggest question is; what in the hell was that thing caska pointed out?
-
Isidro sounds really close to one character of a pirate manga the name of which I constantly forget. Though it doesn't make him any less right.
-
I started reading Berserk tonight, and I like it enough to read on. I just have 2 questions: I notice it's 311 chapters long and started in 1990; does it look like the series is ending soon, or is it just ongoing 20 years strong? And is it a weekly or monthly series?
-
I'm going to be honest with you. There's no end in sight.
Releases are kinda irregular..
-
From what i figured from my 3-week-long-and-for-all-eternity love affair with Berserk, it's a every two weeks manga… could be wrong tho, since there seemed to be lots of gaps in between and the number of chapters don't match the amout of years at that pacing.

@robbybedfart:
sigh I get so tired of people getting upset every single time this series takes a PUBLISHING HIATUS, when its really like clockwork.
It's not a damn vacation/idolmaster break. It takes Muira 3 or 4 weeks to produce a chapter, (and probably 5 in some extreme cases where he has like, a thousand unique soldiers fighting a thousand unique monsters, all with crosshatching) and the magazine publishes every 2 weeks. So the magazine waits until there are 3 chapters ready to go, and starts running them while Muira works on the fourth, and then they are all published in a clump, 4 chapters in two months.
He does not take four months to draw one chapter and then crack out another 3 chapters in a week apiece. Its been this cycle with Berserk since it started in 1990, its just how it is, he produces a volume worth of material on average every 6-8 months, and its been the case for 20 years. (He's on what, volume 34?)
If it were a MONTHLY magazine, there probably wouldn't ever be hiatuses except maybe once a year. Its only because the magazine itself is bi-weekly that the magazine schedules it the way it does.
Also, 10 years is a better approximation of when the series will be done. Muira has stated in interviews he weels that he's about 60-70% done, and he's been at it for 20 years.
Similarly, Oda isn't taking a vacation from One Piece once a month, and Togashi isn't taking a 9 month vacation from Hunter X Hunter. Oda is involved with movie stuff, (and fatherhood) and Togashi is doing 10 chapters during his "hiatuses". If Hunter were a monthly instead of a weekly, it probably wouldn't miss a beat either, but the anthology format Japan lives by just doesn't allow for a once a month pacing in a more-than-monthly book.
I hope that answers your question, probably could've cut it down a notch to make smaller quote but meh.
Of course thanks robby for his explanation. -
Ah, nice to know! And good rambling from dear ol' Robby - no need to cut anything!
-
That actually answers my questions perfectly, lol. Thanks to both of you
-
Wait wait, someone was talking about Berserk hiatuses. Thats like, my bat-signal. I'm here, I can educate and answer the que…
Oh.
Well.
Never mind then.

Robby have to explain Berserk release schedule every page on this thread..
Oh and awesome chapter.

Welp, I've held off from reading Berserk for a little over a year now. I stopped staying up to date with it and One Piece when I got a job Jan. '09, but then I caught back up with OP in August '09. I was in no hurry to get caught back up in Berserk due to it's release schedule, but I am starved for it! Gonna flop down and read 298-311.
-
And that was… okay. Haven't been a big fan of how Berserk has been going the last couple volumes or so. It's mostly just been crazy detailed pictures without dialogue with you not sure wtf is going on half the time. Nice to see Guts back kicking ass, that's more or less 92% of what Berserk's all about right there, it's just felt odd having him out of commission for so long.
Also, Miura has been watching Pirates of the Caribbean way too damn much.
-
I think he planned on having pirates anyway seeing the era this series takes place in.
Also what was confusing about the art? It seemed fine and understandable to me, plus they were drawn beautifully.
Speaking of which, the chapter comes out in a few days right? \m/

nothing wrong with pirates.

The raw is already there. Storywise the chapter doesn't bring much new stuff. And whats worse: The next break is coming.

No biggy, I got gajillion stuff to keep me entertained til it continues ^o^
-
Nothing is wrong with pirates, but you gotta admit some of the moments were a little too PotC. The crew became undead in the moonlight and they had a fricken Kraken. Some PotC music came on my Winamp when I was reading the chapter, worked perfectly too. XD
-
hmmm well you got a point there but muira's kraken was by far more bad ass than the kraken from pirates.
-
I dunno, man. Tough call if you ask me.
-
scratch that the best kraken is from an old movie I believe it's called: Jason and the Argonauts ( some one please correct me if i'm wrong on the title that is)
-
New chapter is up at Sprectrum Nexus. Another break coming up after next issue. Shock and awe. So looks like the Sea God has a big influence over a larger area since it was the one who affected the pirates and has cursed the villagers. The girl is most likely a elemental that took the appearance of a human during the merging. Which explains while she's so interested in Isidro's stories and why Schierke can see her astral form.
-
Is it just me, or is Berserk pouring out in record time? It feels like it comes out once/month, which is an incredible pace.
-
Great chapter, although I don't understand how the girl kept her human mind while being possessed and how the aura is coming from a hole, yet the girl is standing in-front of shierke.
-
The girl is some sort of water nymph i'm calling it.
-

LMAO!! Good one! 3 chapters and its time for a break.

Fucking Robby had to ruin this arc by saying we wouldn't go to fariyland. ]:
It's his fault. FOR SURE.

When did I say this? I mean, I believe that I said it, but I don't recall when or in what context. Was it when I was making the One Piece parallels joke?

Things are getting interesting again. Hope miura ends this arc quick.

What is wrong in this arc? I think this ship travelling is just awesome. They got nice crew and intresting persons in it. I have really enjoyed this trip so far and I just love sea-monsters…specially Miuras sea-monsters...

Most probably . ]:

Really loved the crosshatching and details in this chapter. Especially in the pub.
